wonderful professor it is the easiest history class ive ever had and she has the best jokes about the material moves at a semi-quick pace but always asks if anyone has questions and truly cares about her students success. The tests are multi-choice about 50 questions long and 4-5 the whole sem. doesnt have a lot of focus on numbers : )
Very Awesome Prof.! One of a kind she makes it very clear and the test are pretty much easy if you study the notes. I recommend to take her class it's awesome. She has great sense of humor.
Fantastic professor! Always looked forward to the class. Easy material, book helps, but is not necessary. Same with attendance. But her classes are always so entertaining, it's always a full class, and why would you want to skip?
Awesome teacher. Makes the class truly fun.
Very awesome teacher. As ironic as it may sound, she makes learning history entertaining. There is really no reason to not show up. Sometimes she will even bring props or dress up, depending on which period of history she is teaching. She gives quizzes and tests, both are easy, you do have to read from the book, although it isn't quite that bad.
I absolutely loved her! She is hilarious and has such a good sense of humor. She made history entertaining and interesting and there should be no reason not to attend her class and do well. SHE IS AWESOME! Take her class!! I wish I could take her again! :)
I loved this professor! She is so nice and helpful. She makes class extremely fun and interesting. She offers plenty of extra credit but you wont need it if you pay attention in lecture. Her quizzes and exams are exactly what she goes over in class :) :) excellent professor!
By far my favorite teacher I have had at UTSA. I dont even like history but she made it fun, she loves feedback and helps you out with anything. Plus shes not to bad to look at!!!! Got a B in the class with out really trying, but make the effort and you will see an A at the end. Take her if you can
Awesome teacher, definitely my favorite class that semester. Textbook is not needed, but you do need to read the other books she assigns. She makes the lectures fun and gives extra credit. Go to her lectures, the class outline is posted but the ppts are just pictures.
TAKE HER! She is fun. Very nice. Makes history really fun & easy to remember. Seriosly. She gives you an outline & a powerpoint. You have to purchase a iclicker, read text outside of the textbook. The textbook really isnt mandatory. During class she gives you text questions and they usually appear on test. My favorite prof I took her for both Hist.
take her for sure! great professor!
Very great teacher! Makes the class fun and dresses up to match the topic def would recommend her to anybody!
awesome
Amazing professor, super nice and funny, very helpful. Her lectures are engaging and easy to follow. I had this class at 8:00 in the morning but dragged my butt out of bed early and never skipped because I liked her class so much. Her tests are insanely easy, just take notes in class and skim the textbook chapters and it's an easy A.
good, fun professor. i couldnt get up for class sometimes (8am) but i still passed fairly easily. also very willing to help with any questions. you can tell she loves her students and teaching.
Extremely helpful professor. She never made history, a boring subject, anything but interesting. She really engages the class and is very easy to approach with questions. I'd take her again if I could but so far she's only been teaching classes I've already taken.
Mrs. Peterson is extremely helpful and made history fun to learn about. Her PPT questions are always on the test along with a lot from the book. Its an easy class as long as you read and take notes. She's a great professor and I'll most likely take her again for my next history credit!
Great teacher! Makes class interesting, and it's HISTORY. Come to class - ppts make no sense without hearing the lecture. Tests are based about 90% on lectures, 10% on the textbook. She emphasises on things that will be on the tests. I would love to take her again!
She is so nice and very helpful! Not to mention really pretty and fun! This class can be an easy A! It was for me!
Take this class!!! u gotta be stupid if u dont. i hate history but Prof. Peterson has a perfect teaching technique.
DONT TAKE THIS LADY. SHE GAVE LIKE FREAKING EXAMS EVERY WEEK, I ENDED UP DROPPING THIS CLASS. WHAT A WASTE OF A DROP..WHATS WRONG WITH THIS LADY? DOES SHE NOT KNOW WE HAVE OTHER CLASSES??? HER CLASS IS SUPER BORING AND I FAILED EVERY EXAM WITH A 40-50, NEVER GOT ATLEAST A C ON THE EXAM. AGAIN, DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. SHE USELESS. VERY USELESS. EASY F
Mrs. peterson is a fun teacher, and her classes are pretty interesting. You can tell she really likes her subject. Definitely buy an iClicker, you'll use it almost every class, and buy the book too, because she gets some of her test questions from it as well as lecture. Her tests aren't hard, but if you skip class or don't study, you won't do well.
BEST TEACHER EVER. the end!!!! so helpful, sweet, great at teaching. you have to study, but just get facts down and you should have an A. CANT SAY ENOUGH, TAKE HER....SHE WILL CHANGE YOUR VIEW ON HISTORY AND TEACHERS IN GENERAL. professor is you are reading this, dont ever change! youre the best :)
I LOVED THIS CLASS. She is an amazing teacher and explains any and everything that you need her to. Her test are usually 50 questions and if you pay attention in class and read you will definitely make an A. She only assigns one paper at the beginning of the year and it is extremely easy. TAKE THIS CLASS. She is so sweet and a wonderful teacher.
only one thing!! TAKE THIS TEACHER!! she is the best professor i could ever had, her class is so easy, if you study you will get at least a B on the examn class is mandatory but its not boring at all!! BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!
Mrs. Peterson is such a great teacher! she is so clear with everything! lectures are very interesting, she is so sweet and funny (: definitely take her. I really did not use the textbook much but it was helpful at times. she gave one essay and extra credit opportunity at the end of the semester. once again you won't regret taking her!
Peterson is a great professor! The class is easy. I wish I took the class more seriously, but still ended up with an A. Class is not mandatory but she does take attendance. Points will be lost if your not there. iClicker is a MUST! Have extra batteries for caution! Read your Textbook and download the lesson outline on blackboard!
awesome professor. she made the class interesting and engaging at all times. i was never bored. funny and sweet... and pretty hot.
Take this teacher, this is one of the easiest classes ive ever taken. Got an A without even buying the book. 6 tests, 1 essay (u can BS it in 2hrs). All u need to do to get an A is take notes and use the outlines posted on BB. Theres iclicker pts so u gotta attend class
Take this class! Very easy A. You don't need the textbook if you go to class, which you should do anyways because of iclicker points. Great professor with very interesting lectures.
LOVED THIS CLASS! TOOK HER FOR BOTH HISTORYS as long as you come to class and listen you will get an A. shes dresses up sometimes and shes just so fun to listen to!
This class is an easy A.
She is an AWESOME professor. She is really fun and so easy to listen to, she makes it very interesting. Class is mandatory because of iclicker, but I am definitely going to take her again for my next history class. she is AWESOME.
I took the hybrid class and I enjoyed it. You only have to go once a week and the other days she posts the power points on blackboard. These are very well done. The only way you would miss points is if you do not read the book. She will sometimes add some stuff from it. (around 15% of the test) .you will actually learn..Overall she is GREAT!!
WHAT AN AWESOME TEACHER!! Best teacher I have ever had. The Hybrid class was new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Make sure you read an listen to her online lectures before class cause you use an Iclicker every day you go to class. Will write small essays and will need to do some research on your family coming to America. She is good looking too
awesome and fair teacher, great online lectures and a fun class.
Hybrid was a new experience for me, but you have to take notes on the book and in class if you want to do well on the test. She is very interactive with her students which make it fun. She tries to help her students as much as possible. I recommend her if your good at retaining information and taking good notes.
She's great! Very easy to understand for international students and if you have a question she can help you out with anything that you need. Take her you won't regret it!!!
Professor Peterson is beyond great. One of my favorite professors. Hybrid course was new for me, but it was easy to adjust to. Peterson is helpful in and outside of class, and truly enthusiastic about the subject. I would recommend her to anyone. TAKE THIS CLASS! Offers plenty of extra credit assignments. Just be prepared and go to class. Easy A+
Prof. Peterson is extremely helpful & enthusiastic. Hybrid class was great: watch/listen to PP lectures at home on your own time taking notes on outlines she provides, then show up for class once a week to discuss, take quiz or test, etc. Keep up with lectures, study for tests & you will do great! Very interactive, knowledgeable, and helpful prof!
Great teacher and a super sweet person. Really enjoyed her class and learned a lot. The class is fairly easy but gives a lot of work. She gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit which is good. Must take her!! I would again if I could!
A very easy-going teacher who has so much dedication to help students out along with her trusty peer mentor and succeed by their interaction and attentions
I took the hybrid course, the only downside is your grade takes a major hit every class that is missed regardless of illness or other reason. Otherwise I enjoyed the class, and found her to be one of the better Professors I've had.
Great teacher! She's so involved and takes her lectures to another level. She made me more interested in history.
Dont waste your time reading the comment and take this class already ! you will not regret it trust me ! she is my overall BEST instructor at UTSA. She always cracks me up all the time. She makes history so interesting and fun. She gives tons of extra credit also . i would recommend her to everybody. Study and you'd get an easy A
Mrs. Peterson has been an amazing teacher, this is a hybrid class so the lectures are online and in class, which makes learning so much easier, as long as you listen to the power points you will do great. Very fun teacher makes learning an adventure. Test are always on the lecture no confusing questions. I have to say this was my favorite class.
Favorite professor at this school, hands down. She hilarious, and interacts with every student in her lectures. Her tests are tough, but everything comes from the modules she post for you. a new extra credit every week, so she is trying to help you get A.
Never used the book. Powerpoint lectures are great and she reviews and elaborates on the material learned when you meet for class once a week. Good portion of grade comes from in class assignments (easy). 5 Tests including the final (never used the textbook and got between 82-88 on all of them). LOTS of extra credit. I Look forward to her class.
Taking her was a great choice for a hybrid class.
The class is easy as long as you read the power points. She is very nice and funny and she kept class interesting. Not a hard class at all, and an easy grade. Will definitely recommend her and I will be taking her class again next semester.
She's so awesome and so helpful. If you don't like history but are required to take it, take her!
In class iClickers so attendance is mandatory but class is so fun that i didnt mind. She gets dressed up in costumes for class and is funny so going to class is fun. I had the hybrid class. always do the modules (super easy) and do the extra credit (added 10 points to exam). Dont need the textbook. Do the assignments and watch ppts and u got an A
Mrs. Peterson was an amazing teacher, it was a hybrid class, she puts all her lectures online which makes it so much easier. If you listen to those PowerPoint and take notes you will do great, she explains the material in a way that anyone could understand, she even dresses up some times for her fav subjects.. TAKE HER CLASS YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
I loved this professor. She is funny and the lectures are never boring because she makes them interactive. You can tell that she is passionate about teaching history. She is always there to help and offers many extra credit opportunities. Overall I highly recommend taking her!
She's a great professor! Her lectures are very interesting and makes things interesting. Fair amt. of writing prompts but take good notes on lectures and you'll do fine. Tests are straight from lectures notes. Tests on events not dates. Gives extra credit too and lot of it ! SI available Take her if you want to pass the class !
Very helpful! I took hybrid course and got a B, but I didn't study very much. Don't really need the book, but it can be helpful. Lectures were long, but because it was her talking through PowerPoint you could print what she said read it and listen to lecture it made it better to understand. She is funny to me!
Professor Peterson is so awesome! She makes the class really entertaining and dresses up according to the time periods we're studying. You have to read the book and be there to do the iClicker questions. I would totally take her again.
Took online and received and A. Has power points with audio where she can lecture through the slides and does it very well. Makes the lectures super interesting and her tone of voice is very soft spoken but yet catches your attention to the history of the US. Loved the class would take again. 4 tests and 1 final as well as 3 discussions due a week
Prof Peterson is one of the top professors at UTSA. Her lectures are VERY clear and concise, and she is well respected amongst the students. She's super hilarious and knows how to keep the class' attention. Attendance is necessary because there are iClicker quizzes in class. Tests are super easy. Easy A. Would definitely recommend her to others!
I love her class! She puts everything on Blackboard, gets back to you as soon as possible, has fairly easy tests, and really gets her class engaged. She comes dressed up based on topics of her lessons and she's just great! Highly recommend. You NEVER need a book, so DO NOT BUY. You just need an iclicker.
One of the best teachers I've had at UTSA! I don't like history but she just made me love it. I would definitely take this class again! We just met once a week to clarify and review the topic seen through her lectures. You NEVER need the textbook, just an clicker!
This is literally the greatest professor you could take! Her class is so easy if you take the time to listen to the lectures! She makes her class hard to fail. She dresses up for her lectures each week and she makes them fun to listen to!
Professor Peterson is amazing! if you need to take His 1053 take her!! Her lectures are online and they are really good. I hate reading but her lectures are fun. She makes learning fun. She always dresses up based on what time period we are talking about. She gives extra credit. If you listen to lectures you will do fine on test.
Attendance is mandatory for iclicker questions. The online modules are long and theres an assignment due for each one every Monday and Tuesday. SI sessions add points to your test grade and gives opportunities for extra credit. Tests are very hard and NEED to be studied a lot and hard for
I LOVED Professor Peterson! She's awesome! I took her for both history classes and made an A in both. DONT buy the book. You wont need it. If you fail a test, don't worry. The final counts as the final and replaces your lowest test grade. Study her lectures that she posts on blackboard and you should be good to go. Gives lots of extra credit!
TAKE HER! . Iclicker points in class so attendance is necessary but she makes class fun. SHE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT ON EXAMS.
I absolutely love this professor like i got a 76 on the first test and then got a 100 in the class because of so many extra credit opportunities! She is funny and its a hybrid course so you only go once a week.
Professor Peterson is a wonderful professor with a great sense of humor. Attendance is mandatory but since its a hybrid class, you only go once a week. Iclicker participation points are crucial to your overall grade. Online modules could sometimes be long but if you go through the entire module/take notes you will do great on the tests!
Very creative in-class lectures, attendance is required for iclicker grade, plenty of online work, attend SI tutor sessions if needed(saved me and is also extra credit), class is actually FUN, lots of extra credit given, gives a good laugh, brings history to LIFE(easy understanding), definitely harder than i thought but I would take her again!
Absolutely loved Peterson, she was definitely the coolest professor I've had. I took HIS 1043 hybrid, meaning all lectures were online. You HAVE to listen and take notes over the lectures, if you don't, you will not pass. It takes up a lot of time and if you don't have the time or slack easy, I don't recommend taking this class.
I took this course as a hybrid. She gives outlines to take notes and it's easy to follow the lectures. It's a fairly simple class if you attend, take notes, and make sure you keep up with your work in order to do well in the tests. She gives a lot of extra credit so take advantage of it.
This was literally my favorite class since I got to college. The professor is absolutely amazing. She makes class super interesting, and the online lectures are easy to keep up with. The hybrid part of this class makes it semi self paced and it fits well with any schedule.
Prof. Peterson is amazing!! I would take this class again for sure. She makes the lectures so much fun and I actually looked forward to going to class. She gives a few extra credit assignments and her tests are pretty easy if you listen to her online lectures. 10/10 She's amazing
By far my FAVORITE professor I've had. Her tests are straight from her powerpoint lectures and they're very easy to follow. She makes her classes so fun and engages her students every lecture. Now, you do have to study, but theres LOTS of extra credit, and lots of room for improvement. Final counts as final AND replaces lowest exam grade. TAKE HER.
I took the HIS1043 as a hybrid class, going to class once a week is great! The lectures can be long online, but easy to listen to. Just DON'T fall behind because once you do it's hard to catch back up because they can be lengthy. Take good notes from the lectures online b/c that's where ALL her test questions come from. Also, TONS of extra credit!
she's very funny and interacts with the class well. offers a bunch of extra credit. take advantage of it!! very fun class would recommed to all. there is no homework assigned except for some projects.
JUST TAKE HER. She's super fun and she'll make history fun.
By far the best professor I've ever had. She is so sweet and obviously cares about the students. She gives out extra credit and she will come dressed as what you are learning about that week. Just an adorable person inside and out. You will not regret taking her!
BEST COLLEGE PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! Sometimes she wears costumes and gets really into her lectures which makes it super interesting. Easy to get an A as long as you listen to all of the online lectures and show up to class. Love the Hybrid course, but I almost wish class met more than once a week because she is so fun!
I really enjoyed her for HIS1043. I wish I would have taken a 2x week class instead of a hybrid. I think the hybrid class is more work and lectures than just sitting in class twice a week. Tests are mostly lecture based, so take good notes. Tons of extra credit if you need it.
Mrs. Peterson is an absolutely amazing professor. Since she teaches hybrid courses and her lectures are online, she makes the class time fun. She dresses up as the era you are studying and engages the students in discussion. She gives tons of extra credit for each exam, including 1 point/SI Session attended. You won't regret taking her.
Professor Peterson is a real gem, she's seriously so kind and understanding. You should take her because it's relatively easy and her lectures are enjoyable.
There are so many good things to say about Professor Peterson. To begin with I am not good at history, and taking this class made history one of my strong subjects. Her lectures AMAZING, her passion for teaching is beyond what I can explain. Easy class, study, listen to the modules, she gives tons of extra credit! but i bet you wont even need it!
Take her class! Not because it's fairly easy, but because she is a wonderful teacher. Caring, encouraging, enthusiastic and fun. We need more like her. Simplified the materials to fun online lectures and inexpensive TopHat. Encourages students to do their best, participate in class and share their opinions and stories.
She is one of THE BEST professors at UTSA! Her class is super easy, all you have to do is read her lectures and show up to the class she has once a week. She gives out so many extra credit oppurtunities. TBH its not that hard to get an A in her class. The only downside is she gives alot of work but its super easy.
Professor Peterson is the best professor I have taken at UTSA. Her lectures and classes are very interesting even though history is a boring subject. If you work hard a little bit you'll get A. Extra credit really helps!
I took the hybrid version of this course. Super friendly and funny. As long as you listen to the online modules and do the writing responses (only a paragraph once a week), you should be fine.
best professor ever!!! offers extra credit every test and her lectures are very detailed. her tests will be easy if you just review the material, would definitely take her again!
Awesome professor. Very caring and honestly cares about her students. Not a very hard class if you study and pay attention. Funny and makes class bearable. Attractive too.
Take good notes on the lectures and you will be set. You'll have to write one immigration paper, but that wont be graded hard. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES. Weekly reading responses which will anonymously be graded by your peers who usually don't grade too hard. It's not hard to get an A in this class. Just take good notes and ask questions.
I've taken Professor Peterson twice for hybrid HIS 1043 and online HIS 1053. She is great! Lectures are important and easy to listen to. One topic response/ two evaluations a week and tests are easy if you pay attention to lectures. Course requires NO TEXTBOOK. TAKE HER FOR ANY HISTORY CLASS.
Professor Peterson is such an awesome professor. Her passion towards the subject makes it super easy to get into the material. It was never not interesting. I took a hybrid course with her and only met once a week and had all lectures online. It was helpful getting to go through it at my own pace. I definitely recommend taking her!!!
I took a hybrid class. History has never been my best subject but Prof Peterson made remembering the material very easy. She would dress up for the lecture and it was easy to recall during exams. She used Tophat almost every day for attendance and for in-class participation. She is by far the best teacher I've had.
She's an amazing professor, the best at UTSA! Even if history isn't your favorite subject, she makes lectures enjoyable and interesting to listen to. I always looked forward to going to her class, and that says a lot. Do your lecture notes, use those notes to study for the test, and you should get an A!
On a scale of 1 to 10, she's a 9 out of 10 on hotness, I never skipped a class thats how hot she is, and I skip a lot of classes....
Pretty easy class, show up to get tophat points. Lectures are pretty easy, she words them in a way that it's easy to understand. She's super sweet. Plus it doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes!
I took this class as a hybrid class and she was great. The lectures are all online and they can be lengthy some weeks but if you manage your time correctly you should be fine. She's very good at answering her emails and gives everyone a fair chance. Several extra credit opportunities. She's also very funny. Take her.
This is by far one of the best professor's I've ever had. I took HIS1053 online, and her online lectures are great. She gives you a lot of ways to remember the material and she makes the subject really interesting. I've never hated History, but it's always seemed like a pretty boring class with lots of dates to remember. Not in this class!
Hands down one of the sweetest and best professors at UTSA. Really cares for her students. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! She makes lectures fun to pay attention to. You will not regret taking her
This is a very good professor, I would take her again and again. I tried to go through the course without studying but you will fail if you try to do so. You need to watch her lectures online and takes notes, but she explains history in a way where you can remember it easily though. Very easy A !
She is awesome, she is caring and very kind. Easy to reach and does her best to help you pass her class
I absolutely loved her class! I had never been one that loves history but she makes the class fun and adds little jokes/side notes in her online lectures to keep you interested! I am taking her again this summer!
I took the hybrid class for this course. I love how she always add little humors in the online lectures. Meanwhile, she also makes in-class lectures fun & just strives to create a good learning environment. She even comes to class dressed up based on the lecture topic! She is hands down one of the best professors in UTSA!
Amazing!
She is really adorable with her lectures, cares a lot. She made online history a really good class, she is very fair and a overall good teacher.
Mrs. Peterson is by far the best professor UTSA has to offer. Her lectures are very easy to understand and interesting, which came off as a surprise considering everything is online. She offers immense amount of extra credit and her tests are all based off her online lectures. You would have to actually try in order to fail this class. Easy A!
Forget about taking History Lecture in person. Take it online with Professor Peterson for both HIS 1043 AND HIS 1053. Easy & you learn a lot. All you have to do is listen to her modules, do your weekly response (you only have to write 150 word response to an easy question about the module you listened/read to) and you'll pass with flying colors.
I LOVED this course and the professor. There are assignments and lectures every week, but if you keep up with the pace it is easy to pass. You will learn a lot about history and yourself with this professor. She also offers extra credit.
she is one of the nicest person I have ever met. but it was hard to keep up with stuff because it was an online class
Though this class has a high number of assignments for an online course, it made getting the grade you wanted a lot easier. Her schedule is clear and easy to understand and she seriously is the nicest person ever. Easy to contact and responds quickly. My advice, DO NOT IGNORE LECTURES IF YOU WANT AN A! LISTEN TO EVERY SINGLE SLIDE!
I loved her online course Her lectures were extremely interesting and funny at times. It's very routine, there's a lecture and a writing response to the lecture every week. Then about every 3 weeks there's a test. Watch the lectures before the writing response and then again before the tests. Take notes based on her outlins. She's also super sweet!
The sweetest lady ever! I am not a fan of history and I really enjoyed it!
I love her, she is the type of professor that loves what she teaches and its contagious!! I took her for a hybrid class and her online lectures were clear and fun to listen to. 10/10 recommend
I took this class as a hybrid course (one class a week, rest is online) and the prof is AWESOME. She offers SI sessions for test extra credit, makes the class fun, and lectures are easy to understand. Provides outlines for the online lectures so you know what is really important. Do the outlines, go to the SI sessions - easy A+.
Professor is great at engaging with the class and makes the subject interesting to learn about. This class was hybrid, which is a shame because it would've been much better to have all the lectures in person. She's very understanding and friendly, and is willing to listen to her students. I would highly recommend this professor to anyone.
TAKE HER TAKE HER TAKE HER!!!!! she is so adorable and loves history so much she will make you want to learn. I took the hybrid course so it was half online half in person and her online lectures are so clear detailed and fun. I have never done so well in a class before. IF YOU DONT LISTEN TO THE LECTURES YOU WONT PASS. 15/10 recommend.
Lots of work you just have to put in the effort and do everything on time and you will be fine.
Jodi is one of the best professors I've had in college. She really cares about her students and really wants them to do their best. The class has a lot of work but the work is not that hard if you listen to the lectures. I would really recommend taking her course.
Such a sweet lady who really cares about her students. Her lectures are very interesting. Take this class if you're trying to decide on an online course.
VERY EASY A. 4 tests plus final, one writing assignment per week graded by your classmates, and one essay
Her online class is fairly easy. Just be aware of her essay assignment. The formatting questions will not be answered through emails or discussions boards. If you really need help, start early and go see the writing lab people for help. Writing lab people will help so much more.
Throughout the semester you are given 12 modules. You must write 100 word minimum responses to these modules, and then do a peer review. The only thing that messed me up from getting an A+ was that I forgot about deadlines because the class is so easy!
Modules and very easy & short writing responses are the only thing due by the end of the week. 5 tests online and are easy! Make sure to keep track of deadlines. Easy A if you are good at time management.
TAKE HER! The class was entirely online but her lectures were amazing. She was always accessible outside of class if you needed her. All you do is do a writing response each week, do an immigration essay, and take 5 exams. The exams are really easy if you listen to the lectures. Easy A+.
One of the BEST PROFESSORS AT UTSA! She loves history and is able to make it fun. Weekly writing response but they will help you prepare for the exams. Great teacher and gives lots of extra credit. She is always in contact with her students via email even though it was an online class.
Only one paper, and weekly writing responses. Easy tests, especially if you review the lectures. Easy class.
This prof is so easy. I took her hybrid class so all the lectures were online meaning you have all week to do one lecture. we met once a week in class and she further explained the lectures and gave a lot of easy iclicker questions that just added points to my grade. her test are super easy if you go over the notes and she is super nice.
Prof Peterson has very interesting lectures. I felt like I learned a lot more of history than my previous history courses. make sure you are on top of your weekly assignments and you'll do fine
Prof Peterson is the sweetest human ever. Please take her, it is very lecture heavy but it is not hard, study hard for her test and you should get and A, she is very caring and very engaging. I plan to take her again. Also YOU WILL USE THE ICLICKER!!
I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR. She is the SWEETEST thing and shes so passionate about history. Her lectures are incredible. I dont like history usually but she made me enjoy it! You will have to dedicate several hours per week to reading her lectures but if you do that youll pass every test with flying colors! Amazing professor
As long as you keep up with the work and remember to turn it in on time it will be fine. Don't plagiarize, it's so easy to just find the answer to the weekly open-ended questions on the book and in her lectures. Quizlet helps with her class.
You definitely have to stay on top of your work to get a good grade in this class, but the work is never hard or overwhelming. She has awesome extra credit opportunities. Professor Peterson is very nice and understanding of her students, and tries to help her students learn valuable lessons outside of what history books teach.
Professor Peterson was amazing. Her course was so well structured and easy to follow. Her lectures are amazing. Take the time to listen to them. Shes so passionate and funny.
She is a very kind professor who really seems to enjoy history. I took a hybrid version of the class (online + class on Mondays) and she made what we learn in the modules easy to remember and made actual class very enjoyable. We did lots of stuff to discuss/ relate to the subject. She also often dressed up according to the era which was fun to see
She is an amazing instructor!! I am enrolled in the Hybrid class (Monday class+online) and would highly recommend. Test are easy if you look at the slides. She really tries to give us the tools to learn the material and she truly loves teaching. She dresses up for the lecture that she teaches depending on what module we are on which makes it fun.
Professor Peterson is amazing! she truly cares for her students and makes learning so much fun. I would 10/10 recommend taking her for either HIS1053 or HIS1043. I took her hybrid class and I really enjoyed it, you do have to show up for class because your attendance is a grade by your iclicker. As long as you read your textbook you will be good!
This professor gives good in class lecture. Her online lectures are boring and super long. She doesn't give any sort of review for tests and also has a cumulative final which she provided no review for. Attendance is required through Iclicker. She is funny and charismatic though!
Prof. Peterson's class is tough but easy if you put in the work. If you study her slides and actually listen to what she says in the online lectures it is an easy A. Also be sure to go to as many SI sessions as possible because each session is worth 1 point on your exam plus you learn a lot from them as well. Take her class, it is not that hard!
Professor Peterson is great! Her lectures are easy to get through and the writing responses are fairly easy. You just have to write 100 words every week on each module (that's like 1-2 paragraphs) and then do peer grading. She makes learning history fun!
She was an awesome professor! Easy class and requires very little time and effort.
while her lectures are a lot, theyre fun and so is she! shes hilarious and truly cares, I say its tough because I didnt pass my first test but because I didnt study as much, after that, I passed it all ever since and at the end, shes gonna take your lowest score and remove it w the final :) 100% recommend
Professor Peterson's class is mostly lectures, peer-reviewing journals, tests, and one paper. You'll get a good grade if you put in the work to complete the assignments.
Overall, excellent professor. Took this class during the Second 5 week summer course. Take good notes, study/review notes for an hour each day and you will do just fine on the exams. Definitely recommend taking this professor. Lecture heavy!
For 3+ weeks it was weekly 10 pages of worksheets and 1000 words workload. She's way too much.
Exams are mostly based on the lectures but use the book to fill anything she didnt go over. The critical evaluations were annoying to do and then were weekly so be ready to submit something every week. Overall as a professor she is sweet! I took a class with Hicks and for this class I felt you had to read less
I took her for HIS 1053 and she was a pretty good teacher. You have to do a critical thinking response thats is at least 100+ words each week and also fill out an evaluation. The tests were easy.
She is such a sweet person. I definitely enjoyed her lectures as she is great at explaining things. Overall, the subject is not super terrifying as it's most of the same history stuff we learned since HS. Critical Thinking Questions 100 words every Sunday (EASY AF.) Evaluations (Takes like 2 mins to complete.) Essays are easy use lecture to study.
AMAZING professor. Very organized and provides frequent reminders of what is expected for the week. Heavily lecture-based and you do have to sit down and listen and take notes on your own time but she teaches in a very engaging way. I usually hate history courses but this prof kept me intrigued. You gotta work for your grade but def worth it!!!
I haven't even finished the semester but I have to rave about professor Peterson. She is THE MOST CARING and AMAZINGLY KIND professor I have ever had. She doesn't just want you to succeed in college, she wants you to succeed in life. As for the course itself, she does an amazing job planning and the homework is super easy. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
An amazing first college experience! Class was easy to navigate, and easy to learn from. Professor Peterson stands out from the crowd! She expects you to put in the work, and doesn't hold your hand, but allows the student to ease into the swing of things. 10/10
Prof Petterson is a good professor. She gives A LOT of extra credit opportunities which is great if you miss a few points on the pesky quizzes. Her class is very lecture heavy and the lectures are pretty long if you include note time. Pay attention to the lectures and youll be fine. Textbook only used two times. Her voice scared my sleeping dog.
40% of your grade being given to you by other freshman when you pay 10k a year for these classes. This peer grading is insane and she uses it a ton, people be grading you on stuff completely out of the rubric and its gross.
Took her course online over the summer and I do not regret it! Lectures were interactive, which were fun, and included her own voice-overs, which helped a lot! Easy class as long as you keep up with the homework. Not a fan of history but I really enjoyed the class.
She's a sweet lady don't get me wrong. But the amount of writing you have to do is ridiculous this class will be more demanding than your actual major courses. You have to write two big assignments a week plus mini-quizzes. 10 page paper with multiple rough drafts. Her zooms are mandatory assignments on google classroom basically a group project.
The class is the same every week: reading (optional), lectures and notes, then a 100 word response to a question. There is an evaluation of other's responses, and occasionally a test. The teacher's lectures are adorable and she makes funny little comments. As long as you submit your notes for the grade, the class is extremely easy. Great teacher!
I did the asynchronous version of this class, and it was great. Not too much work, and for the most part, it was relatively easy. Grades mainly consisted of quizzes, which were given per module (so every week, but they're easy), and discussion boards. Had 4 tests + final, and for every test, there was an extra credit opportunity.
I did the asynchronous version of this class, and it was great. Not too much work, and for the most part, it was relatively easy. Grades mainly consisted of notes and discussion boards. She is an amazing professor! She really cares about her students and works hard to deliver an amazing experience. Her expectations are clear, her lectures are amazing, and her tests are the perfect level of difficulty. Definitely take her if you can, she is amazing!
She was one of the best professors I have ever had ! Gave weekly announcements and really seemed like she cared about what she did and for teaching us. I would take her again in a heartbeat
She had a good curriculum laid out. No group projects which was a plus. Plenty of opportunities to get your grade up with extra credit. Worth the work. She was very responsive and was willing to help you get through her assignments. Awesome professor. Made learning history a bit easy. I would take her class again.
Best history professor ever. Homework was the same every week. Notes, discussion, and evaluation. Then 4 exams. Drops your lowest grade and gives extra time if you communicate.
The class breaks down into about 3-4 assignments a week but they're SUPER EASY. There's lecture notes (vary from 1-4 in how many are due), critical thinking post (like a discussion post), crit thinking eval (grade yours and two other students from the previous week), and a test at the end of the module (only time she provides extra credit). Easy A.
This class is a required course & has a RIDICULOUS amount of homework. It took so much time away from my other classes that were more important. You have 3-6 lecture notes EVERY WEEK with lectures 30 minutes long each, a useless critical thinking doc, PLUS exams. I'm sure she is a great person but the course load was terrible. DON'T DO IT!!!
I loved professor Petersons online course! It was the same thing every week lecture notes, evaluation, and response. You have to have good time management if you're going to take her online, make sure to check the sides at the beginning of the week to see how many videos there are for the chapter. She gives you enough time to get everything done!
the whole class is structured around writing a 10-page paper. the weekly homework assignments consisted of a library assignment, a research journal for the paper, and then a reflection on the reading for the week. none of the work is really difficult it's just tedious.
Super nice. The class is fully asynchronous each week you have lecture notes that are due and a discussion. There are 4 tests + the final. All of the have an extra credit opportunity. This is an easy A if you do the assignments.
She is excellent and I really enjoy her lectures and writing assignments. The class is structured to make you think about the topics critically and be involved in the lectures. In the last couple modules she used someone else's lectures though and I did not like those at all. Professor Peterson herself is awesome though!
I absolutely LOVED the way Professor Peterson set up her online class. I have never had an interest in history before taking this class. She brings an interactive element in to the subject and the videos for the lecture notes were always insightful to watch. She makes learning fun. 10/10 take her!
Jodi is awesome! I took her HIS1053 course online and it was extremely well layed out. Her lectures are super easy and just follow along with her student outline for the notes and you'll be fine. She's really sweet and available outside the classroom. PLEASE take her class!!
Prof. Peterson is the best! Her lectures are fun and easy to follow along. I actually feel like I learned history. Lectures are time consuming to watch and take notes, but if you spread them out during the week it's not bad. There is a textbook that she provides, but you don't need to read it to pass. Turn in everything and you'll pass!
Professor Peterson is amazing! She gives extra credit for every test and the final. She also drops your lowest test grade at the end of the semester. She makes history very interesting and easy to understand.
I actually like history now. I had zero interest before this class. Great lectures. Great prof.
she lets you bring note cards and notes for her in-person exams and notes are for a grade every week but is very very easy. great professor! very passionate about what she teaches and makes her class very engaging. I 100% recommend taking her class!!
I honestly really loved this class. I usually hate group work, which we did a lot but Professor Peterson made it enjoyable. The lectures were fun to listen to as well.
For MY online class, it's like 2hrs of videos every week, you need to take notes and there's questions in the videos but it's so easy and she has an outline of the videos and notes so it's so easy. A test every 3-4 chapters(3-4 weeks.) EASY A!! I met her once and she's so sweet tbh.
For our online course, we had 1 assignment due every Sunday (occasionally 2). All were online play-posit lectures that we had to take notes on, but she provides a template which helps out a ton. After each unit we had a critical thinking assignment due. Extra credit is also given every few weeks.
Excellent professor. I highly recommend Ms.Jodi Peterson to any student looking for an excellent teacher. She is one of a kind.
loveliest prof ever! i had her for an online only class but got to meet her through a VR lesson she had on campus, and she was super sweet and caring! her lectures are amazing and easy to understand!
I loved this professor. I took this class online and while I don't like history, I really enjoyed taking it. I only met her one time for a virtual reality project but she is so sweet and you can tell she cares about what she teaches. While there was a lot of HW because it was online, everything was super easy so I didn't have any issues.
Professor Peterson's HIS1053 class was a breeze. The online lectures were straightforward with helpful outlines, and the weekly assignments were manageable. I found unstuck study to be a great study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, an engaging and rewarding history course.
Professor Perterson had a very well organized onlin history course! Each week assignments were to watch lectures & take notes, then an exam for each unit with a critical thinking assignment as well! Extra credit was very nice, and workload was perfect to knock out over the week! Loved this class, matrial was very interestin & would take her again!
Such a great professor I highly recommend. Had weekly lectures that were taken for a grade along with sending in a picture of notes. All exams based off of lectures. Pay attention to the lectures you will be fine. No need for textbook. She is so sweet and her lectures are informative and funny so they dont drag out which made this class enjoyable!
This professor is awesome. Her lectures are clear and interesting. I already enjoy history as a class but she makes it much more enjoyable. The class does not have an overwhelming amount of assignments and feels very manageable if you keep on track. I will absolutely be taking her classes again in the future. You won't regret taking this class.
Lectures are very entertaining, somewhat long but not difficult, need to know information is outlined, good note-taking guide, exams and quizzes come straight from the lectures, she obviously cares about the class and the material, would take again.
I like this class, although you do have to sit through the lectures. and answer questions along the videos. As well as turn in notes from the lectures. But I like that she wants us to take charge in our learning. If you want something simple and easy, this class might not be for you.
She is very helpful and she tells you step by step how to do an assignment if u are having a hard time. Always keeps an update on assignments and events going on.
2 note assignments a week, 1 critical thinking assignment for every module and 1 VR project. Very easy, she's super sweet, I met her once for the VR project she cares about her students. Reminds me of a sweet high school teacher.
The professor is approachable, fostering a positive class. Expect significant work due on weekends, reflecting a weekly learning structure. Assess their professional abilities by considering the clarity and value of these assignments, feedback quality, and workload management.
Civil war to present was a very easy online course. Weekly assignments included weekly lecture modules with quizzez and guided notes. 4 test which are very easy! Just do the weekly assignments and pay attention to the lectures for the quizzez. Lectures are very informative, and weekly assignments can take anywhere from 1-2 hours.
She is a good professor. The course on the other hand... not so well put together. There is SO MUCH WORK. It's like never ending amount of notes, questions and writing assignments. I actually agree with the comments saying the class was "awful". It's true there was a lot of work. Easy work, but still a T O N !
great professor! will look for her classes in the future. I found the wording in some quiz questions & test questions odd, this isn't unusual for me. Some questions on quizzes we had not talked about the info when presented but I communicated that with her. I was expecting more work, from a UT system college.
The course is easy, but it does require what may feel like a lot of work. Each month (roughly) there were 8 assignments, including the exams. While these assignments aren't hard, doing them becomes very annoying as the weeks go by especially because it feels repetitive. I would recommend this professor and course as a gpa booster.
Lots of homework, decent class. Just basic effort can get you where you want to be.
Jodi Peterson is a wonderful and caring professor who's always willing to help her students with anything. There is a lot of work for it being an online course, but it is very well structured and easy, you just need to properly space it out. The extra credit project adds 3 points to your average. Overall an easy GPA booster course, would recommend
wasnt difficult in my opinion, everything you needed was all laid out for you, and she is super sweet!
