I loved this class. She always made it interesting. Her pop quizzes had us on our toes and she gives extra credit. Her exams were really easy, they came directly from her lectures (off the board). Her writing assignments were the only thing I did not enjoy but that is just because I hate writing papers. Easy A by doing your part
She is very good professor even though she might be a little blond.:-) She did get along with the guys better and I think she gave them more opportunities in turning in late work. I don't like history but she made it intresting.
rude, strict, uncaring to students real life problems for example when it came to an emergency with my kids
If you attend class, keep up with notes and assignments, you'll be alright.
Gives everything tested on during class lectures, so DON'T be absent. Gives extra credit and reviews for mid and finals, very helpful. Will get an A if take good notes and study them.
Great Instructor! she is the reason why i changed my major to History! you dont need a book! she checks attendance every once in awhile when she sees the class empty lol she is not hard but you do need to study...her exams come straight from her lecture notes so you cant miss a day...she is a lil ditzy at times but her lectures are very intersting!
Great instructor! She's the reason why i changed my major to History! You dont need a book! Her exams come straight from her lecture notes so you cant miss a day! she's not easy but not hard...you do need to study! she's a lil ditzy at times its funny but her lectures are very intersting...i highly recommend her! i got an A!
BEST TEACHER, FUN AND EASY, SHE IS PRETTY LAID BACK. YOU WILL LOVE HER CLASS. JUST WRITE DOWN WHATEVER SHE SAYS. OR LIKE ME BRING A RECORDER AND RECORD THE LESSON. I LOVE THE CLASS SHE HAS MADE ME LIKE HISTORY A LOT.
she is a great teacher she love her student and is beautiful, smart and fun to be with.
Listen!!!! No Book Needed. All Lecture!! And All is on the Test!!!Make sure as she lectures to think WHEN WHERE WHY WHAT WHO of everything on her Reviews. Notice: If she repeats it's on the test!! Tests are 3 Sections. Multiple Choice, Fill in the Blank and 5 Short Essays of what topics on the review(you just don't know which one's she will choose)
Shes awsome you won't regret taking this class. Just take notes or a tape recorder and you will do fine. no book needed.
Best teacher ever!!! She's fun!! You won't regret taking her class.. BEST part no book is required.. Take notes and you pass, everything she says is on the test.. STUDY and you PASS!! :) Sabin's AWESOME!!!!
Best professor ever she is alot of fun i really enyoed her classes i took her for hist. 1301 and 1302 i wish i wish i could take her for all my courses. Just take notes study a little bit and you will be fine. no book is required. I LOVE THIS INSTRUCTER
Attendance is CRUCIAL for this class. Mrs Sabin is really nice too look at (She wears insanely short skirts and shows off those nice legs) but if you don't pay attention your screwed. Overall not bad of a teacher.
Great professor! She is easy to understand. Take lots of notes, and study and you'll do great on her exams. No textbook required. Offers extra credit.
ms. sabin is very lazy she will not do anything other than just write an outline. she covers everything real fast and expects students to be entertained by her vulgar language and racism. if she feels that has to express her self so negatively about everything in the valley she should just go back to minnesota.. and yes i did get an A but she is ju
Jodi Sabin does not like us mexicans so i do not see the reason for her to be teaching here in the valley. And she has are very poor teaching methods she stands in the front & bla, bla, bla she never uses anything to motivate her class. She claims she teaches 8th grade level history and we mexicans just do not get it. Talk about prejudice!!!!!!!!
She's kind of a tough cookie because you have to study, study, study to prepare for the exams! This class does take some effort but it's totally interesting 100% of the time. She does keep you on your toes but you do learn a lot. She makes the material super interesting, I'm definitely taking her again for 1302!:) Got an A!
Really great teacher. Her tests are easy because the questions are all about her lectures and some on the quizes. Her looks are very distracting lol but if you can tell the important information apart from everything else you will do great on her tests. You do not have to write everything word for word just when you hear her tone of voice change it usually means pay attention and write. Overall a really great teacher I'm very gla to have taken her class
Her grades consist of only quizzes and tests. Her test are pretty challenging but all you would have to study is your Notes, she wont give you any questions on a test you did not cover in her lecture. To pass, just pay attention and take notes. Recommended for people who want to learn or who have a good memory on lectures.
really great teacher, i never had a care for history before but i love it now, she makes it intresting...and she does complain alot about texas and the valley but i think its becuz she dont eat meat, i got a D in her class but it was summer and i didnt really put much effort but that class truely is an easy A...definetly recommend her!
She was great.. I wish all my classes were like hers... I miss her :(
She is a great professor! I took this class in the summer and it was an easy A. Just pay attention during the lecture and the quizzes/tests will be a breeze.
Awesome teacher and funny, her art skills are quite...funny. Read the homework reading cause the quizes play a big part of the overall grade. Tests are easy, multi choice and essay. Book not needed.
Ms.Sabin absolutely sucks!!! Her teaching methods are miniscule to say the least. Horrible etiquette for a lady who claims to be so righteous. Please!! LOL who ever rate her as hot. Must be men/women who have low standards in appearance. She similar to a ply-wood flat back & worth. I don't recomend her class for the reason that she's vulgar & lazy.
Her class will be hard if you miss a single day. Other than that just study and you will be fine. She has nice legs and that made me not concentrate to get an A :) but it was worth it.
I am a straight A student and Mrs. Sabins class was pretty hard. The multiple choice questions are easy, but the excessive writing for the final and midterm was ridiculous. Writing a 3 page essay with 50 multiple choice questions AND 3 identification short essays in about an hour and twenty minuets is outrageous for a History class.
Took her for Hist1301, took her for 1302. EZ teacher, the tests are quite EZ. Lectures are not in a monotone voice and she has her comical moments. Her tests are multi choice was a few fill-ins. and "essay ?s" which is roughly a paragraph. If you cant pass the class with atleast a B. Then theres something wrong with you. No Book needed.
For those of view who doesnt haverespect, PLEASE do not bother to rate this professor. Cause let me tell you that this is an EXTRAORDINARY teacher. For those who did not like her either was because you have never been used to WORK in anything than just being sitting and copying from others. I have her this semester, and at first I thought it was go
Sabin is a not one of my fav professors. She uses vulgar language, complains about Texas and brags on how she doesn't use the same thing twice. Her teaching method is very boring. Homework readings are mandatory and so are notes. Study and you will be fine.
Terrible, she is way into herself, she doesn't help students at all because she makes you feel stupid if you don't know something. She is too young to be teaching.
Really bright and spunky Professor. Took her in the Spring 2011. Text book not required. Take notes on daily lectures and you will do fine. Have to do some reading and take daily quizzes, but nothing that will overwhelm you. Smart, pretty, and has her opinions on daily life and world view. Extra credit is offered. Show up daily and be on time
Great instructor she lectures with great enthusiasm about the subject and keeps you interested. Attendance is a must if you wanna pass. Does not require book, requires alot of notes taking while she lectures.
All lecture but she makes them fun and enjoyable! Favorite professor. No book needed. Mandatory readings every class but they are simple. Midterm essay. Super easy chapter exams. Best class ever.
Great teacher. You don't need a book. It's all lecture so it's a lot of note-taking. If you take notes you'll easily pass.
She's a great teacher! The ones who didn't enjoy her we're probably the slackers, I would know. It was my own fault in the end if I had put more effort in my notes, did the vocab, and read the things she gave us, would have gotten and A! You don't need a book. Her class is fun! She enjoys what she does. Recommend her!
She is a very good teacher, makes her lectures very interesting. Take a lot of notes and if possible record her lectures for review. Textbook not needed. Her exams are a little difficult but JUST STUDY and you'll be fine. Make sure you do all the required work for her midterm and final that is the only way to pass. Study notes before entering class
Class is all lecture but she allows you to record her, so if you miss something that was said. Take a lot of notes and study them and you will be fine. All test consist of multiple choice, short answer, and fill in the blank.
Great professor. Clear. Understandable and relatable. Very clear outlines, just take plenty of notes and you'll pass everything! 5 chapter exams, multiple choice, 2 map quizzes, 10 reading quizzes that are really easy, a midterm and a final. Really straight forward, clear class terms and rules. Most people that don't like her are RGV idiot inbreeds
I love the way she teaches because it stays in your head..if you don't take notes you wont do good in this class and you can not miss a day because you will not pass the next test....I felt it was a hard and easy class... the hard part is the essay questions on the test specially the midterm and final....it is hard but not impossible...
I Loved her class she makes things really interesting. I found it to record her class really helped me. Never miss a day because you will miss a lot of information.
loved her class. took her for us history one and going to take her for us history ll. shes very interesting, her tone of voice sometimes annoying, but i liked her class. she gets really into it when shes giving the lectures. take her!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! She's very funny and her teaching is really easy to understand. The stories that she tells are very entertaining! She DOES NOT require a textbook (she makes you save money!) She gives you handouts for free... But of course you gotta take a lot of notes for the Exams. Exams and Quizzes are EASY! Just study enough :)!
Professor Sabin is awesome! I loved her Class, she explained things so well that you could remember the material. Dont miss class, take really good notes, read the additional readings she gives and you will be fine.. Her class is very entertaining! Ohh and for the girls, she gives you tips for for home made makeup and all those great things :)
AMAZING! I LOVED LOVED HER CLASS! Ms. Sabin is so far the best history teacher! You learn a lot! YOU GUYS NEED TO TAKE HER! Yes, theres a lot of exams but if you pay attention an EASY A!
Probably my favorite professor that I've ever had. I constantly find myself teaching my family and my friends about some of the things that I've learned in her class. Always enthusiastic, interacts with class, turns history lectures into somewhat of a narrative that's fun to listen to. Doesn't require a book and she's really hot. Like, REALLY hot.
Her class is awesome. shes pretty, so its easy to keep eye contact, lol she lectures alot no assignments only quizes and test, and has 2 extra credit videos, (easy 20 pts there) yes she can get off topic sometimes but who doesnt, Study guide is provided, and study that you will pass every test. 3 essays for each test, but easy essays, she cool :)
Ms. Sabin is such an amazing professor. You can tell she enjoys what she teaches and tries to relate topics to the modern world to help the student better understand. Attendance is mandatory since everything in her lectures are covered on exams. Such an easy class, if you study and attend class. NO textbook needed.
Great teacher took her for 1301 and 1302.... best History teacher I have every had.... explains everything to where you a tall remember it on the test... no outside work... just 5 chapter test mid term an final...
I have never been interested in history until I took her class. She's awesome, hilarious and knows how to keep the students attention. Her tests are easy as long you go to class every day and take notes. Her tests consist of 3 short answer essays 20 multiple choice and quizzes over the primary sources she hands out no textbook required! Take her!!
This class was seriously the bomb! She's an excellent professor! You have to take her! Yeah the test are a little long and you do have to read but you will seriously learn so much. Wish I could of taken 1301 with her, easy class if you take down notes and read the primary sources. Most people don't take her because all the work, but it's worth it!
She's amazing! Makes me love History, how America came to be, she opens your eyes. She's hilarious. You have your primary sources quizzes and your chapter exams. Which are easy if your read you read your primary sources and if you take down notes or listen to her lecture. You have midterm & finals. Don't go late to her class!!
Best professor!! i took her for Hist1301 and 1302, Her lectures are awesome! take lots of notes and you'll pass! also you dont need the text book, she passes out worksheets to read. Quizzes are super easy and her exams are simple, just take lots of notes and dont miss class. Easy A! also her exams are essays but just study and youll be fine.
She will make you fall in love with history! amazing lectures they are as if you are taken back to that moment in history.. i hope to teach as good as her one day.
Ms. Sabin is an AMAZING History professor! She's so enthusiastic when lecturing & it makes it all so interesting. I never thought that I would enjoy History so much. There's 5 lecture exams (lowest gets dropped) & quizzes over primary sources. You MUST read in order to pass quizzes! Major rules: DON'T USE YOUR PHONE IN CLASS & DON'T BE LATE/SKIP!
Ms. Sabin loves to teach history. She makes the class interesting. Her class is super easy.
just take her course!! She is an awesome professor!! She is very funny and her lectures are amazing. You learn so much in her class. No book is required and no essay!!
Mrs. Sabin, makes class very fun. Her lectures make you feel like your actually there. She's funny. Although, her class is abit hard. She gives you a total of 5 tests, she drops the lowest score. Tests consist of 3 essays only 1 page for each, and multiple choice. You also have to read alot of primary sources. You honestly must study for her class.
By far the best course i've taken. No textbook is required unless you need it. Her class is not hard at all. I would reccomend her class to anyone she is very blunt and hilarious. I like how she provides extra information in order for us to clearly understand.
you have Primary Source reading 11 pg long front & back ( for each Test), 2 map quizzes . if you don't take the primary source quiz (5 questions long & you answer in college answers) before your test then you will take it w/the test , so you will have a test & 2 quizzes. she talks you speed write & make up abbreviations. no recording no phone
Ms Sabin is an amazing history professor. For those who do not like history she will make that change. She gives primary source quizzes that are 5 questions long. Very easy as long as you read them. There is a quiz for every chapter. Note taking is mandatory. STUDY FOR HER TEST AND YOU WILL PASS. REVIEW, AND TAKE NOTES IS A MUST.
Ms. Sabin is awesome!! She makes class super fun and easy to understand, you almost feel like you are there in the history books, show up, take notes, study your notes and you will pass!! She is super awesome!
I'm not really good when it comes to learning history and I actually enjoyed her class. I've heard many students say her class is difficult but it's not that hard you just have to pay attention and not skip class. If you fail her class it's because you're being really lazy.
She talks too fast. I couldn't catch up with her to write what she was saying. She's a very energized person and funny too.
Makes class very interesting, study hard! Pay close attention and take good notes and you will pass. She's really funny and caring. Always be on time in class.
Very detailed in the lectures given. No homework whatsoever. have to do some readings, not a lot though.
Hard class had to drop. No homework. No phone if a phone is seen you get a letter grade dropped !!!!! Primary sources are long! Exams were easy if you study hard.
Honestly, it is the beginning of the semester and I am really enjoying her class. She really does lecture in a way that doesn't bore you. Make sure you are there on time, and put away your phone, also make sure they are completely off during an exam. Pay attention, trust me and you will remember most of the stuff, take good notes and go over them.
Fun, hilarious, & engaging lectures. I have her for a night class and initially thought it would be a drag, however her delivery is entertaining & helps you retain the information easier. No textbook required (save that bread), just show up & take good notes & you will be FINE. Obviously attendance is mandatory w/ no textbook. She's amazing! 11/10
Her class is very entertaining BUT her test are hard have to study a lot primary sources are VERY LONG 11 pages TOUGH GRADER when it came to the essays miss a date she will deduct points !!! VERY HARD TOUGH GRADER DONT RECCOMEND
Her class is fun, her notes are precise and if you print what she tells you to; the class is a breeze. Get ready to read for homework and quizzed for it, next class. If you're the lazy don't take her. Mid termscheat sheet. TestsMultiple choice+ writing part. Finalall previous test questions+ writing part.
Great teacher. She makes you work for the grade, but it's not that difficult if you take good notes and study. You MUST show up to class or she will deduct points. Don't ever have your phone out either. Her lectures are incredibly interesting.
Rude teacher. She critiques too much. She thinks shes funny but shes not. She doesnt care about subject she just cares about getting paid. Makes her exams really hard. Doesnt care of her students.
She was awesome. At first she comes off really strong I even thought she was an atheist but not at all. She's very fair and to the point. Just show up to class and take good notes and you'll be perfectly fine. Her exams are simple it all depends on you reading her primary sources and how well you can take notes. Best history teacher I'd say.
Great professor, great lectures and easy to talk to outside of class. All you have to do is study for tests (she lets you know when the test are and whats is on them). Make sure you write the definitions & important stuff from the lectures. Must take class
She is definitely not for everyone as is no Prof but after taking 1301 with her, I jumped to take 1302. She has a unique approach to making a History class more like story time for young adults and it was at times hilarious, shocking and most of all, kept my attention. Don't miss class, take good notes and READ the primary sources.
Best history teacher I have ever taken. She makes lectures really entertaining and easy to remember. Exams are straight to the point just make sure to use the study guide. Primary sources are kinda long but not impossible to get through. No textbook but attendance is mandatory. 3 easy extra credit opportunities that you have all semester to do.
Ms. Sabin is a very good instructor. Her lectures are very detailed in names and dates of the events. She gives exams with essay prompts and 10 questions that are related to the primary source readings. Easy class. Gives extra credit.
Ms. Sabin is one of the best Professors I have ever had and she is super inspirational. She is very straight forward and to the point. I highly recommend her! As COVID-19 hit she made the transition to online classes easy.
Dont get me wrong shes very energetic when lecturing but she can get off track really easily and she doesnt write notes on the board. She says the notes during her lectures which I wasnt a big fan of. And its a history class. Are essays needed for history exams? Can it just be multiple choice when taking a history exam? I had to drop her class
Tests are extremely hard if you don't study. Exams are essays which sucked already. Lectures are mix of little chunks of actual history and her personal life. I found the work load to be a lot considering the fact that this is just a history class. If you don't study you'll for sure end up failing the class.
Lots of reading. Ive taken her online and in person. One way to describe her: Organized! Yeah sum loads of works but gives you enough time to do it and she is CONSTANTLY reminding you which is good because some prof will post it and leave you to it. Everything on "How to" will be there to answer any question you may have.
She is great, so great that I am taking her again for HIST 1302. Gives great feedback on papers. There is a lot of work but nothing crazy. #SuperAwesome
I am about to take Mrs. Sabin for History II, she is an amazing professor. She is super energetic and so enthusiastic about history. She does give handouts on which you can take notes. You do have to write as she speaks, but you actually learn alot better that way. You will pass as long as you take the class serious. I was also working 2 jobs.
I took History I during spring semester and I am returning for History II this fall 2021. Ms. Sabin is an excellent professor. Expect to ready like in every other college class but that does not detracts at all. She is a very supportive professor, responded quickly to my concerns. I encourage you to take her classes.. :)
Ms. Sabin is an amazing teacher with a great personality. She is very laid back with us and the class is pretty much self taught. This was my second time taking a class by her and I do not regret it. Assignments are due every Sunday and consist of quizzes and essays. If you're good at writing and include all the sources she requires, you're golden.
I had Jodi Sabin for HIST 1301 and 1302 and she was AWESOME!!! I mean yes we did papers, had quizzes, and watch videos for this class. Was it hard? Not at ALL! I loved history and the way she taught, was amazing! No book needed because this book is online for FREE! If you want the book it's $20 for the HIST 1301 course and $25 for the HIST 1302.
Hilarious, informational, and just an awesome professor. I hate history and this was my favorite class!
Ms. Sabin is an incredible professor. She is by far the most organized professor I've ever had. In this class you will unlearn all of the lies you were taught in history class during K-12. If you failed History 1302 with another professor (like me) and are in search of a better one, TAKE THIS CLASS! I really enjoyed Ms. Sabin's class!
Professor Sabin is a great Professor. I definitely learned A LOT. However, she assigned essays every other week and discussions with quizzes on the weeks where there wasn't essays due. There was plenty of reading in this class. She's very understanding if you need an extension but it has to be a valid excuse.
PLEASE READ!!Don't make the mistake I made! Any positive comments above/below mine were probably posted by her.She won't help you out.She gives 5 pages full of rules of every single assignment, do anything wrong and she'll academically suspend you.Cant view past wrong test answers like rly not even that.Only texts thru blackboard but doesn't reply
There really wasn't much work. We would get 2 quizzes and a Reflection paper every week. The quizzes were only 10 questions. Just remember for the Reflection papers, she wants you to use the information from the "Required Instructional Sources" folder and nowhere else. Her feedback was really helpful to improve my paper.
One of the best instructors I have ever had. It is her goal to provide you with everything you need to know in order to pass. I took this course as a mini-mester during the summer. At first, it may seem overwhelming, but once you understand it, it becomes much easier. It is definitely worth trying!
When I started this class I considered dropping it because I was heavily overwhelmed. Professor Sabin gives bi-weakly essays of about 4-6 pages and bi-weekly quizzes and reflections. With that being said, dont get intimidated after a while you'll into a routine and it'll get easier. I don't regret taking Ms.Sabin it was hard work but she was great!
Top tier lecturer, funny, loud and knows how to make History interesting. So definitely make sure to take the class in person or you'll be doing yourself a disservice! The course isn't anything difficult, just make sure you read through her lengthy syllabus and instructions at the beginning of the semester and you're set.
Cons: Poor Student Social Skills - For example, when I asked for assistance, she stated "I don't like it when students ask me for help, refer to the syllabus". This was my first class and was intimidated. Do not take her class! Pros: Learned never to take a class with her again. PLS DONT TAKE HER!
Initially, I felt overwhelmed, but the class got very easy after the first couple of weeks. Coursework consisted of a 10-question quiz one week and an essay the other. The essays consisted of reading a chapter from the textbook, summarizing said chapter, and including citations. Examination and discussion include ed chapter and other materials.
She accuses students of plagiarism even when the STC plagiarism software comes out low or negative. If you experience any technical issues or wifi issues she does not care unless the whole class complains about it. She also does not like answering questions from students. Do not take her class, she will give you an extremely hard time.
She is probably one of the best history professors at STC. She tells you the real "unwhite" washed history of the US, so if you are open to criticism, you'll be good. Her lectures are interesting. Weekly reflection and quiz every week with no exams. I have a high 90 in this class; hopefully, it stays. The low ratings are the ones who were lazy.
Professor Sabin is very engaging, but the class can be challenging. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of the reading and writing assignments. I found Unstuck AI helpful for organizing my study notes and preparing for the exams.
I took her in person for 1301, now I registered for 1302 online. She is really nice actually. A few personal reflections, quizzes which are open note. When it comes to the readings it is a 50/50. She gives too much information, but it is better than not enough.
She's a good professor, but she expects a lot or too much from her students. Look out for her major grading assignments if your going to take this class (Specially her Personal Reflection Assignments).
Ms. Sabin is very particular on how she wants things done and she walks you through exactly how to do it .The only way you will NOT pass is if you DONT follow directions!. As long as you do the work and follow her directions and example, you will PASS! She's cool, she gives you feedback and helps you improve on your paper for the next assignment.
Ms. Sabin was wonderful! Even though I didn't pass the class.. I really enjoyed my time there. Her assignments are more on our own personal opinions about the events in history. She also was very generous at the end of the semester she gave us a little gift and treats.
Class is extremely one-sided and often factually inaccurate. She pushes her own opinions instead of teaching real history. Relies a lot on TikToks with no credibility. No critical thinking, no real research allowed. Easy class, but you won't actually learn U.S. history.
Submiting an assigment was imposible, online is suposed to be taken at your own time with the understanding that if you are taking an online class is beacuse you are unable to meet regular class hours, yet assigmets were due in the middle of the day, reaching out took 1-2 business days, and gidelies where razor sharp, always flagged for plagiarism.
