WOW! She is awesome! Strongly recomend. Very helpful, and nice.
took tons and tons and tons of notes, she's enthusiastic but I needed more in-class excercises to learn by doing. it was all notes. she doesn't require the solution manual but my advice is buy it and use it to learn the stuff. she was sweet and enthusiastic but as a teacher she didn't work for me.
In stats its easy to make stupid mistakes or get mixed up with all the formulas. But, for as hard as the subject can be, she is good at teaching it. Shes nice, funny, and always has a smile on her face!Shes my favorite teacher this semester! She grades fair but needs extra credit.Math is hard!
AWESOME TEACHER!! TAKE HER
very nice and srraightforward easiest math class that you could ask for
Ms. Cochrane is awesome. I was so scared coming into this class, having not taken a math class since my junior year in high school. She made the course very easy and understandable. She is there to help as well and isn't affraid to spend class time reviewing homework problems.
I was really scared int aking this class, but ms.cochrane was very clear in her notes and was possibly the best math teacher I ever had.
very clear and helpful

She is very helpful in her lectures. She makes sure that everything's clear. Good teacher!!
Ms. Cochrane always went over everything we needed to know and as long as you payed attention and took notes it was an easy A. Best math teacher I have ever had.
She is really nice, she goes out of her way to help her students get a good grade.
This teacher is very fair. She is so helpful. There are a lot of notes, but it's not bad. Everything is made as simple as possible. She gives out formula sheets when you get to ch 7/8 which is EXTREMELY helpful. everyone should take her..... the best math teacher i've ever had......
The class is kind of hard and fast paced but she is a great teacher. There is a 10 point quiz every week and homework assignments due. There are 4 tests. The lowest HW,quiz, and test scores are dropped! A TON of notes... If you try you could get an A. It is tough but she is a good teacher! Very friendly and fun
great teacher, fast pace, but makes it clear, drops lowest grades for one test and one quiz...very very fair!! great personality and extremly helpful!! Highly recommended!!
i hate math and i failed this class before but got a B with her. sat in the back and did all my homework in class too. highly recommend her if youre going to do all the homework.
Wow she is the best maths teacher i ever had.Although i hated maths she made me love her class.i took this class before with perez but he was a pure S**T.i got a D in perez class.Jody notes comes exactly from the book.you can drop the lowest quiz and test.she gave 15 pts xtra credit on the final.so if you do the hw regularly youll get an A like me.
Miss Cochrane was very helpful and very clear in her explanations. This summer class was tough for those of us who are taking the class for the first time. But to students repeating the class it appeared to be relatively easy. I had Mr. Perez last semester and he failed all the students that didn't put in the effort. Good job Miss Cochrane!
This teacher rocks, seriously I took math over the summer, just do your homework and try to pay attention in class. She is extremely helpful and she's very nice as well. One of the best math teachers I've ever had.
This teacher was one of the most influential math teachers I had ever had .. she was awesome all around and I can not think of a single bad thing to say about her personality or her teaching style. In my humble opinion, she will be one of Saddleback's best
I loved Jody, really cool teacher. helpful as could be. She wasn't just a teacher you could talk to her about your troublesome **** weekend and she wouldnt give you the look of death. But besides that, she gave tons of notes and made it very easy to understand what you were doing. To bad i Failed and had to take another teacher this semester.
as far as math teachers go, she's way better than most!!
the best math teacher yet, I had mr. BERMAN the smester before, and I'll tell you this much... Ms. Cochrane is a million times better, she is very clear on everything, she's awsome!
she is the most amazing math teacher ever, she prepares you for the up coming math classes, she is also very helpfull! easy grader too, I had mr. BERMAN the semester before and I'll tell you that cochrane is a million times more helpfull! take her
If you take her for math 8, you are completely retarded. She is mean and is the MOST ANAL grader. She is completely crazy literally because she rates herself. There is NO WAY her average score is what it is. It must be much lower. The class average is 60%, thats all I have to say.
Take another instructor for Math 8, biggest waste of time. Does a poor job explaining in plain English; doesn’t do much more then transcribes incomprehensible math terms from the book to the board. She kills any motivation to further purse math and lacks the skills to KIS (keep it simple.)
She is more concerned about quantity over quality. Homework load is overbearing to the point of just trying to get it done in order not to loose points rather learn anything from it. Blah, Blah.. There are better instructors.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!I just got done taking her this semester for math 10. The only reason I took her was cuz of the comments people left on here. She is a huge attitude problem and lectures out of the book. You might as well stay at home and teach yourself. She takes roll and is strict about it. Very rude when u ask her questions.
This professor is very RUDE! When people ask questions, she always gives them attitude and makes them feel stupid. In her lectures she teaches and gives Ex. from the book. You might as well stay at home and teach yourself cuz she does not teach the subject well. Does not care about her students and will not go out of her way to help you out.
Jody is a really cool teacher! She is only 25, but teaches excellent, makes math clear to everybody. She gives a lot of homework and quizes every week, however,it really helps to do well in class. U get 4 exams and the lowest score drops, and a final. Jody is really good in explaining, and if u need extra help, she always answers all your questions.
got a D & have never received one in college so far. I had a B all semester,up until the final. Got a bad grade & she gave me a D even though i only missed 1 class all semester, & did all hw receiving 100% in hw because she grades it as well)she's just a bitter person in general. can't believe i have to retake a course i had a B in all semester.
Strict beauty, not organized. Talks endlessly with nonsense, I want to learn! Not listen to storys! She doesn't like distraction, or people sleeping in class.
Her teaching method allows for easy understanding of the sugject.
She is a wonderful teacher! Everything was clarified perfectly! Homework is a must and quizzes are easy. Stay on her good side by not talking in class! And show up to class because she learns your name increadibly fast! Basically if you have to take stats, she's your best bet!
Ms. Cochrane explained everything so well and thorough that I rarely had any questions. Math's my worst subject but she made it easy to get through the class. Im taking her again for stats, I wouldn't even try a new professor, she's awesome.
Miss Chochrane was the best math teacher I have ever had, she explains everything really well and her tests are not that hard if you know the information.

Jody is AMAZING!!! Math is my worst subject but she explains it very clearly. She even demonstrates all the examples and formulas so you can get a visual of what your doing (instead of just having to memorize numbers and variables). I rearranged my whole fall schedule just to be able to take her for my next math class.
I absloutly HATE math but she made the class enjoyable. i learned more in this math class than in any other i ever took. Jody explains the material in such a way that anyone can understand it. i highly recommend taking her class!

Jodi is an excellent math teacher. I love her teaching style and if she can teach math to me she can teach it to anybody. I also know that what ever grade I walk away with will be the grade I earned. She is tough but fair and that is what the students need. I like that she expects you to earn your grade. If you want an A you have to study.
Tough course. Many points available towards a grade, though. She was clear. A quiz every week. 4 exams, homework due for a grade(& they are graded) and a final. Turn in all your homework, and do well on quizzes. She keeps the top 10 quizzes, top 10 hw assignments and top 3 exams. SHOW UP.
She is tough on grading exams. She teaches the material very well, but she gives no mercy. 4 exams and doesn't drop any. So if you do bad on 1 you're screwed. She gives a quiz once a week, you'll do fine if you study A LOT, no make ups. IF you miss any exam, the final counts for it, no ifs ands or buts. I studied, didn't miss a class, i got a C.
Great teacher. Plays no favorites and expects you to work hard.
She is great! 12 quizes, drops lowest 2. 4 tests, drops lowest 1. Collects homework, drops lowest 2. HW gives you points! Math is not a strong subject for me, and she made it understandable. I would take her again for Math 2. She's funny too.
Here's the scoop with Jody: she has no leniency what so ever. Her teaching style is good; however, her expectations are too high and you can work day and night on her homework. She will work you 'till you drop and won't pass you, even if you put your heart and soul into your hw + attendance record. The class has no extra credit. Caution.
Few students enjoy math or find it easy. However, Jody is a terrific math teacher. She is clear with her instructions and always answers homework questions. She is available for extra help outside of class as well. So do you homework, go to class, and you'll pass.
Clear in her lessons, she's helpful. But.. tests are extremely hard, comparable to the most difficult question in each section. She did drop 1 of 4 test scores. You are expected to remember every detail, as if your life depended! Studied daily & didn't get an A. Maybe only math majors pass her classes. No extra credit. Shows no mercy.
Its strange to see all these bad comments about Jody, she is awesome. I have taken her for 251 & 253 & her teaching style is great for people who need to visualize. Yes she gives homework, but that's what helps you do good on tests. And yes there is a quiz every week. She's an excellent professor, & I'm going to take her for math 7 next semester.
First thing you must know about this Prof. is that she will not give you an easy A. She does not grade the homework, but expects you to do it, and the tests are extremely difficult. She is absolutely NOT LENIENT in missing tests. NO MATTER WHAT! I recommend TAKING ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
Jody is really sweet. She is very helpful and is there if you have any questions. Yes, she is strict when it comes to attendance, but if you want to learn, go. She has quizzes every week, but if you do the homework you'll do well (she doesn't give the hardest question on them either). Her tests are hard, but she's there to help you out.
This professor has a facility to explain everything in a way that everyone can comprehend.
Jody's grading is fair. 4 tests she also has finger licking booty. Other than that she is okay
Great teacher; her lectures are clear and her notes are really helpful. Jody treats everyone with the same professional manner and will take time to help you if you need it. Tests are a little hard, but she gives out review sheets. Take her.
Jody is a great teacher. Not the most exciting lectures but is very clear explaining the material. Do the homework and study guides!! She drops 2 quizs & 1 exam, homework is graded. Final exam is cummulative.
I took her over summer, I dropped because I failed my first test. Her teaching style was good, you understand everything. But again her tests are pretty hard. class average was about 65 percent.
She is a good teacher, but she picks the easiest examples from the book, and does not show examples of the more difficult problems. Her tests are not in line with what she teaches or assigns.
Tough teach... test are definetly hard... but somewhat easy if you take it seriously.
She expects A LOT from her students. But, it is worth it if you want to do well. she explains everything very clearly. She will always help if you need any help. She great, take her!
I've had her for almost all of the math courses she offers, and there is no one else I would want to take. She breaks down everything for you. Just be prepared to actually do the work, and listen.
Professor Cochrane is a wonderful teacher. She explains math in a way that is easy to understand but her tests are extremely difficult. Also, there is a ton of homework! Her class was very hard, but I highly suggest it if you want to know math inside and out. She will always help you if you need it, without making you feel dumb.
I really liked her!! Yes the tests were hard but she is soo clear in her teaching which is extremely helpful when you move on to Math 11. No other teacher compares to the way Prof. Cochrane teaches. If you want to learn, take her. If all you care about is passing, then take another teacher.
Thought she was a good teacher at first but defintely wrong. Notes don't follow homework or quizzes. She grades work over answers, very little parital credit. Tests are okay, most questions straight off study guide. Idk if I necessarily reccomend her for those who aren't too crazy for math.
Lets see here... she's a joke of a grader. She makes no sense in class and doesn't even review hw problems (notes are not relevant to hw). Hw is not graded... TAKE SWORDER, or Hada, or anybody else. I got a B in precalc and im fighting to pass her class (while studying almost every day).
Its so hard to stay awake in her class. Ive never had to study for a math class until I took hers. Tests and quiz are hard. I aced precal before but failed with her
All i have to say (lie, she sucks.. there is many bad things to say), I feel soooo bad for all the Math3C students next semester... seriously good luck..
Oh and by the way... she teaches you subject once and expects you to perfect it.. probably sounds vague, but you'll see...
....uses a red pen as a paint brush..
Her lectures give you the basic, basic fundamentals of the subject and she expects you to fill in the rest with your own knowledge. Her notes are very specific, and she seems to rush through them to say on schedule leaving little time for questions, which she rushes through. HARD GRADER. As said before, uses red pen like paint brush. Avoid.
She's very "by the book", she writes directly from her notes (she writes & talks like a machine and she expects you to do the same). Her tests are really brutal.. I can see where math majors might like her class but for engr. or other sci. majors, try to avoid. Take Perez, Hada, Nguyen.. someone who emphasizes & can relate math to life.. Avoid.
Cochrane can be a good teacher to those who can do math in their sleep.. I must learn it. Cochrane does not teach for you to know, she teaches expecting you to know. Reading your notes later just confuses you!!! She grades without correcting your mistakes! (She writes "?" instead!) Take Silveira! Cochrane is way too intimidating to even approach!
She really does read directly from her notes... i don't think she knows what she is actually saying... i'm a math major and I wouldn't necessarily recommend her to any student wanting to understand calculus. I took her for stats and she was very good but when the material gets complex, she loses her train of thought completely...
3C is tough... any way you look at it. Its hard but Jody doesn't make it much easier. Sure she's a very nice lady but she's not the best comm college prof. She teaches like at a university, in then out.. No questions asked. Sure she trys but i don't see much light. Tests are hard!! As if 3C wasn't hard enough... Avoid.
Professor Cochrane is an amazing teacher. Those who say that she is hard and her test are hard are the students who did not take the math class as serious as they should of. I understand that 251 isn't a hard class but I've taken it before and other teachers have a more difficult way of explaining. She is very clear in the way she teaches. A++ TAKE
I recommend her.Exams are kind of hard if you don't do your quizzes and homework but you can still pass the class. She is a fair grader, too.Better than Westphal because at least you are gonna have hope to pass the class:))
I've taken nearly every math class offered at Saddleback, and this class was by far my favorite. The people reviewing her are just mad because they're bad at math, ignore them and take her class. You won't regret it. I don't know what the guy who claims to be a math major is talking about. Anyone who loves math will love this class.
Jody is a very nice teacher and makes math very easy to comprehend. I have never really been interested in math but I received an A. She goes over everything you need to know and encourages students to ask for help if she is unclear, which is rare. There is homework, all odd questions, good practice. If you have to take a math take it with her.
Prof Cochrane is an excellent teacer. Sure, her tests were hard, but this was THIRD SEMESTER CALCULUS... don't expect a cakewalk. Lectures and assignments can get a bit overwhelming (a LOT of matierial is packed into 3c), but she is MORE than willing to help outside of class/office hrs if you ask. Very organized, very approachable. TAKE HER CLASS!
I took her for 3a and did not like her teaching methods at all. i needed to retake 3a. But second time around (3c), i really like her. She's much more approachable.3 exams, take home quizzes. you can drop 2 quizzes. SHe gives plenty of practice exams(ie previous exams) and preps you well for upcoming tests. recommend for 3c not for 3a..
I took her for stats and I am not a stats person at allll, but she made it so clear for me! Her class is straightforward, & she prints out note packets so that you dont have to spend so much time copying everything off the board. She genuinely wants you to do well; she is good with the office hours too. Very organized. Take her!
Math 3c is arguably one of the hardest class sc has to offer so either way, g'luck. The tests in Jody's class are def tough but not as hard as Westphal. She's a good teacher but the material is simply too tough to really make a difference. Keep up with your homework and study daily if you wanna think about getting an A. (Nguyen > Jody > Westphal)
Cochrane is a GREAT math teacher: it's one thing to know the subject, and it's one thing to be able to teach it, she sure knows how to do both effectively! Her lectures are thorough and she uses effective tools to teach you the material. She answers questions well and spends time in class taking care of individual inquiries. TAKE HER!
prof cochrane is hard but a very good & really organized teacher. she's always in her office hours if you have any questions, she's a big help. she is sometimes mean if you're rude or inconsiderate. she is a super hard class tho, hard tests!
she is hard but i would definatly take her again. if you put effort into her class you are guaranteed to learn the material
Took her for precalc, math 2, and she was an excellent teacher if math is your thing. Tests and quizzes are really hard. DO YOUR HW or you won't pass. Other than that she explains things really clearly and goes over past formulas and things you mightv forgotten which I really appreciate. Basically her lectures are really easy to understand!
not the best calc teacher. she does many examples in class from the book and other simple examples in class. in class quizzes are so easy but then her tests are out of no where and extremely hard. you have to do the hw to do good on tests. if you really want to understand calc dont take her.
would definately recommend her. She teaches very well with great tips and tricks that arent in the book, very clear, very oraganized, works really hard to present all the information to you and answer any questions. her tests are pretty hard but its nothing she didnt already teach you. Very very good professor in every way.
Great professor. Very clear and straightforward. Hands out printed notes which are very helpful. Weekly quizzes are given but are not hard if you payed attention in class and review the night before. Labs are required and are long and tedious. No nightly homework due. One of the better math professors at Saddleback (from what I've heard)
Do not take her for stats. The actual math part of the class isn't too difficult, but the way she runs her class demands near perfection to get a good grade in the class. Her tests are the hardest math tests I have ever taken, and she makes you do about 8 math labs. Directions for the tests and labs are very vague. Take someone else if you can.
Great Teacher ! Prof. Cochrane is nice and really helpful during office hours. She doesn't teach to fast and explains concepts pretty well. Only downside, examples and quizzes are a bit too easy compared to the exams (that are out of nowhere) Material is challenging, do ALL the hw and you'll be fine.
I really really hate math, however she was a good teacher to take it from. Nice and helpful.
She is very helpful, but her exam is hard. You must study hard.
I hate math but Prof. Cochrane actually made it enjoyable. She explains the concepts extremely well and though she gives a lot of quizzes and labs, she does not turn away questions and offers a lot of help. You have to work really hard and do the HW and study to pass but otherwise she is an excellent teacher who grades fair.
Smart, but doest know how to present the concepts. take some else
Professor Cochrane (Cox) is an amazing math instructor. She is very clear and concise and when anyone had questions, she had answers. In a good mood most of the time, and will keep your interest. Favorite math instructor at saddleback thus far.
She is okay BUT like everyone else said, she is not ideal for teaching. She gives at least 4 sect. for hwk every class meeting. Her tests are killer even if you've learned the material yourself, it's rarely anything you recognize in the hwk. Lectures drag on for hours. You can tell she wants to stop but she doesn't. She forces the material on you.
Did not like her. Class was just doing example after example after example without actually explaining any concepts. Take Silveira. Much better explanations.
Excellent Teacher! Best math teacher I've ever had! Very concise and understandable.
Amazing professor and a kind person; Helpful and very organized! SHE KNOWS HER STUFF! I can't even remember a single time that she made a mistake in lectures! I'm taking 3b now, and even now I often go back and look at my notes when I need them! She is always in a good mood and answers questions. just amazing! I loved her class!
I took Professor Cox for 2 math classes. Her notes are extremely organized and clear and sets you up for whats on the test. If I have the chance to take her class for calculus there is no second guess for me. The grade is up to you do your homework and well on the quizzes then the tests should be difficult for you.
