She creates study guides. Complete them and you get bonus points. Tests are easy if you do the homework and the study guide. She's really nice/always willing to help.
Absolutely stay away. She is extremely monotone and doesn't even try to make class fun, only reads off powerpoints that she posts online, she creates study guides that are 10+ pages for 2 bonus points, a ton of mastering HW, and you are required to answer a million clicker questions for attendance credit. Regretted taking her after the first class
takes attendance through iclicker, tests have questions that come off of the clicker questions gone over in class, study guides are extra credit for every test, powerpoint lectures that are online too, goes a little bit fast in class but it helps if you print out notes, always dismisses early, not a lot of homework, easy A as long as you go over pp
Very easy tests. Semi- Interesting lectures. Basically, an easy A. Attendance is a grade. But offers extra credit
Easy tests straight from the website 'easynotecards' for each chapter (or mastering questions). Only like a month of dense homework. Clicker for attendance. Super willing to work with you and reschedule tests. Offers bonus points. Very straightforward.
Biology 1107 isn't a difficult class to begin with. That being said, Professor Hubbell makes it even easier. She gives very long study guides for bonus points and lots of online homework, but both of these help you learn the material and do well on the tests. If you fill out the study guides (and then study them), you will pass the tests.
Hard tests,,hard homework, clicker for attendance. Tough class for intro biology.
Pulls some questions straight from PRACTICE TEST. gives extensive amounts of bonus opportunities so take advantage and get ahead of the game. BIO homework is all on quizlet so dont waste your time cause none of it is really on the test. Test questions can be difficult at times so coming to class will help you further understand the concepts.
I got a B in this class solely because I did not discover the practice questions for the tests. They are life-saving. If you plan on taking this professor definitely look for them because they reflect the tests. The final exam is also very easy. I got a 97 on it. She tries hard to make her lectures interesting
Nice teacher, hard tests,, tons of online mastering homework. Test s usually cover 5 chapters. Get ready to read.
This class is very difficult as the tests cover 5 chapters of hard material. It's a ton to memorize. I studied for 3 days for the last test and I barely passed. Good teacher, but you have to study a week ahead of time.
She doesn't even teach the material, she just reads off of a powerpoint and the powerpoints aren't helpful at all. Even if you think you know the material you'll still fail the test. The tests are nothing like what she talks about and what she tells you to study. She only grades you on your tests, homework, and attendance and there's no wiggle room
Mandatory attendance, impossible tests and I'm an A student. Ridicuulously hard as a matter of fact. No curve and no bonus points except for filling out a few questions after a test that she gives you 2 points for. She needs to offer more extra credit for giving such difficult tests.
Class is the slowest 30 minutes of your life..
Should allow you to drop a test since they are so hard. Or, should let the final exam replace lowest test grade. Test questions are tooooo difficult for an intro bio class.
5 tests and does not drop one. I studied a lot and still didn't get an A. I would not recommend her. the class is 1 hr 30 min but always lasts about 30 min which isn't enough since there are 5 chapters in every test and its a pretty hard class.
Her tests are very difficult. She should allow you to drop one like the chemistry department does. People mess up, so it would be nice to drop a grade or let your final exam replace your lowest test grade. I'm in a bind because of one bad test grade and nothing i can do about it
She speaks a lot about how the class requires applied knowledge of biological concepts. However, this class is a memorization festival, and she only provides about 80% of what you need to memorize. This leaves students with an easy path to a B, and an incredibly difficult road to an A as the material is dense. Good luck!
The class consists of four tests and a final. Attendance is mandatory but Dr. Hubbell is very efficient and will regularly let class out early. There is a lot of material on the tests, but if you study the powerpoints on d2l, focusing on the questions at the end, you will get an A.
She's not the best professor but if you read the textbook memorizes the questions in her powerpoints as well as the questions from easynote card youll do fine. The final is easy as well
As long as you get the homework points you need and look at her practice PowerPoint questions you will get an A on everything. I didn't catch on until the second test but I still did pretty well. Lectures usually let out early and she is pretty clear on what she wants.
She cares so much but her class is very hard. Lots of material to cover and little time. 99% of the time she ends class an hour early, but this is frustrating because she will rush through the material sooooo fast. 2 bonus points on tests, 1/2 test questions are on the slides, will work with you. Not a bad choice as a prof but def not a great one.
I never missed class, sat in the front, did her homeworks at first and also studied a lot and never made an A on one exam.
Dr. Hubbell is great. This class is extremely dense and fast-paced. Dr. Hubbell does not control the test requirements, the department does. Do the homework, practice problems, slide questions, KHAN Academy Videos are a must. She ends class early to stay and answer questions. RESPONDS FAST TO ANY AND ALL EMAILS. Tough, but an A is possible.
There is a lot of material covered during each class but she almost always let out early. Class consist of only homework and 5 tests. Homework was required and done through a paid product (mastering biology) and most test questions came straight from powerpoints and homework. Attendance was taken with Kahoot.
4 tests, each based on 5 chapters which is literally so much info to put in one test. some bonuses. all tests are 50 questions MC. class is based on points. tests are really hard. going to lecture didn't really help me at all. attendance taken on kahoot. hw on mastering biology, but you only need to get 80 points and then you van stop doing the hw.
You have to be able to teach yourself the material or you will not do so good. Also trust me read the textbook. Her lectures are terrible and do not help you in sort of way but they are mandatory. So get a friend to send you the Kahoot code.
Four tests made up of about 4-5 chapters. Tests are extremely difficult for what the class is- applying concepts to situations. Homework is optional, but good practice & gives you 80 points. Extra credit quiz after each test (2 points). She doesn't post powerpoints, take pictures of the slides/practice quizzes (always on tests). Do masteringbio!!
AVOID if at all possible!! Lectures do not prepare you at all for tests, so be ready to teach yourself everything in this course. She says to be successful in this class, you must spend at least 16 hours a week outside of class working on this material and this is 100% true. Tests average are always in the D/F range and she does not curve
Doesn't post powerpoints and goes so fast through lecture that it isn't even worth showing up but attendance is mandatory. Tests are hard, mostly because they cover so much information. Don't take for a gen ed course.
Only professor I've ever had that would not bump her students from an 89.7 to a 90. I worked my butt off in this class, her lectures were pointless. The only way to do great was to read the textbook. She also has a bad attitude when you go up and talk to her.
Do mastering bio practice tests to study for tests, this is all dumb... Too much info for a gen ed.
This class was the hardest class Ive ever taken. I am an A student and I had to study for countless hours just to pass the tests. Professor Hubbell definitely cares about her students and never hesitated to help me with any course material. This class forces you to push yourself for sure. Do the homework and show up for 120/670 points, it helps.
she doesn't post the ppt questions anymore like the other people were talking about so her tests are basically impossible. I really wouldn't recommend her she's not very helpful at all. class is based on points. attendance taken on kahoot. I barely got a b only cause someone sent me the old ppt. she doesn't really teach, just reads off powerpoint.
Her lectures are a little boring. Don't take it if you don't need it for your major! Exams are very difficult. She's a nice professor, but this class is the hardest class I have ever taken. I had a 4.0 last year, and I almost failed this class. She also refuses to post powerpoints. I had to take pictures of literary every single slide all semester.
A very tough course but sweet lady, 5 tests including final. Graded on HW and attendance so you must show up to class. Lecture heavy and goes through chapters pretty quickly and she lets class out early. Tests are hard and requires hours of studying. No extra credit, not an easy A but possible!
She is a good teacher. Her lectures are very informative but fast and slides aren't posted so take pictures. The grade is based on a point system of 670. 100 points for each of the 4 exams (not cumulative) 80 for HW, 40 for participation and 150 for final. It doesn't take the full time to finish HW. Tests are multi choice. She makes reading guides.
Dr. Hubble was extremely knowledgeable and wanted her students to succeed. She gave all of the necessary information in lectures for her exams, but without the lecture you will fail. Mandatory is required for full participation credit and in order to pass her exams. It was an extremely difficult class, but doable with hard work.
While she seems to genuinely care, her class is insanely hard. U only have 4 tests and a cumulative final, no drops. Some of the info on tests are from class, some textbook, and some from nowhere. I think 1 person got A's on her tests this sem. No matter how hard you study-impossible. I have never gotten under an A before and this might b my first
Lets everyone out of class early almost every day, test questions all come from mastering bio/quizlet, tests are very straightforward but a lot of material is covered so you have to study a lot. Lectures are kinda all over the place so you'll have to teach yourself most of the material to do well. No extra credit, replacing or dropping tests.
Dr. Hubbell is not the best professor if you are a slacker. She will go over powerpoints in class and she posts lecture notes for each chapter before. You must be willing to do lots of practice questions that are in the textbook. Her class was a struggle for me but I did lots and lots of textbook questions and I made sure I knew how to apply ideas
She's so boring.
She is the worst biology teacher I've ever encountered. The homework we have to do is nothing related to what we learned.
Her lectures dont go over everything on the quiz, she cuts us off when we try to ask questions. Her lectures are boring and dont go over everything we need to know. Dont take her class unless you wanna teach yourself everything.
None of the lectures are helpful and you wont learn anything. Be ready to teach yourself what you need to know.
I think many of the low ratings on here are from college freshmen who don't understand that college professors won't hold your hand like teachers did in high school. We are expected to read the textbook, but it isn't much to read. She goes over the chapters in lecture. Her quizzes are fair (we have 2 chances to take them) and not hard if you study.
Prof Hubbell is an excellent choice. I took her for Bio 1 before Covid (in person). Anyone can tell she is passionate about Biology and is there because she wants to help her students. She is responsive to emails and will work with you one on one. Info is very straight forward and her exams and grading are fair. Success in her course is easy!
I don't know why she even bothers to try teaching a class. Khan Academy ended up being my teacher.
You gotta take notes, study, do the homework, attend class, and pay attention, and you'll be fine. More than half of the class never showed up, but there were also a LOT of kids who complained about her class structure. It may be tough if you're used to getting an easy A in high school, but at the college level, super fair.
Dr. Hubbell can be dismissive but still pretty nice. I didn't like her style of teaching at all; she made us do the homework for a given chapter before we even had lecture for that chapter. I found this super stressful and did not do me any favors. We had quizzes and superquizzes every week alternating. Her lectures came straight from the book...
Because of covid my course ended up being online, so instead of her normal way she decided to change it up and do a quiz every week which was stressful. Lectures were long but not mandatory and before each quiz she pretty much told you exactly what would be on it. Lots of homework for half of the semester then it becomes optional.
She reads straight from the slides. All of the homework was linked with the book, but it wasn't difficult. I will say that she includes guides for each chapter and records lectures for reviewing. She was ok.
I remember seeing bad ratings for her before COVID-19, but with her class being online, it's really easy to do well in her class. Her lectures were always optional attendance. She gives you 2 attempts on quizzes and tests. There is homework but Quizlet helps a lot with every single one. Highly recommend her if you're taking this course 100% online.
You can tell shes very knowledgeable on the subject. She muted the whole class, which I understand cause its 200 of us but it makes it difficult when she only lets us ask 3 questions. The class is very tough, but the questions on the quizzes and final are repeated to they sound familiar which makes it easier.
I dont know why theres so many negative comments about her. im taking her class right now and shes one of the best professors ive ever had (in my third year).youve got to watch the lectures, read, do the homework, and do practice problems but thats basically any college class. shes explains things so well and even goes over tests & quizzes
taking her class now and shes one of the best professors ive ever had, she goes over every test and quiz to make sure students understand where they went wrong. she gives you two opportunities to take tests and quizzes. it alternates every week between a test and quiz but i dont mind, it keeps you on track. super sweet and great at explaining
If you don't want to learn biology well but get a good grade- take her. She's easy because she gives two attempts for quizzes and test and even drops your lowest grade. However, her lectures are a mess. She goes too fast, and you don't know what you NEED to learn until it's quiz time. If you have to take her, you'll be fine. I just wanted to learn.
I don't know why Professor Hubbell has super low ratings. She is one of the sweetest professors I have ever had and genuinely cares about the mental health of her students. 2 attempts on quizzes (10 questions) and super quizzes (25 questions) that alternate each week. Not hard at all to get an A as long as you put in the work! :)
She's a very sweet person that tries her best to help you pass. Willing to help you and take suggestions. Having a quiz every week can be a bit much, but they're short and some questions are reused so it's not bad. Posts reading guides to help you study. Coursework is simple and clear.
I loved professor Hubbel. The assignments/quizzes/superquizzes were all extremely fair. She gives you 2 attempts to take superquizzes/quizzes. She makes sure to highlight the key ideas by making in class activities, discussions, and repeating superquiz/quiz questions about them. She also responds to emails fast. She was awesome.
Due to covid took online class. Good professor overall. Homework on mastering biology, easy. Quizzes/super quizzes (test) every week. She goes over the information that will be on each. Very caring professor. Easy to get in touch with. Gives you multiple chances.
Take professor Huet she is the best biology professor! Her quizzes and test require lockdown browsers although she gives you a lot of extra credit. She is very caring and understandable.
great professor overall and goes over test reviews very well. its a big class so theres a good chance she wont know you but if youre like me and get the work very easily that wont be a problem for you.
Great Professor! Due to COVID, she gives the option to join lectures virtually. HW is due in December, but don't wait till the last minute. Quiz and Exams alternate each week. Drops the 2 lowest quiz grades and 1 exam grade. Gives 2 attempts for each quiz/exam. She reviews for each exam/quiz very well. Just pay attention and it'll be hard to fail.
She's amazing! Tests questions were very straight forward unlike most science classes. 10/10
This lady man. Went to a solid 5 lectures, she got exposed to covid on a Thursday and tried to be back by Tuesday. Hadn't went back since. She lectures like she's talking to graduate students. Had no idea what she was talking about. Ended up having to get additional "help" to pass. Pick someone else
Professor Hubbell really cares about her students; she posts recorded/narrated lectures if you were to miss class. The class is very lecture heavy and can become a lot of information to retain. Make sure you are consistent with homework because even though it is due at the end of the course it can become a lot. Tests are are pretty straightforward.
Dr. Hubbell is a wonderful professor. Going to class is not required but very helpful. Homework due at end of semester but recommend you do one each week to stay on task with the chapters discussed. She uses a great quiz system. Far easier than exams and offers you more chances to get a good grade. I am NOT a science person and I got an A.
Hands down best professor. If you take notes on lectures, you'll literally pass with flying colors.
Attendance isn't mandatory, just review lecture slides and took good notes! Super easy class, all homework isn't due until end of semester but definitely recommend getting it out the way. One quiz a week but they are SUPER easy! I'm not good at bio at all, but she made it easy!!
pretty mid. its an easy A you get two chances on quiz and super quiz. A lot of material. she's funny though
Take this class if you want an easy A. All the tests and quizzes are online with only lockdown browser and you get two attempts if you didn't do well the first time. Hubbell lets you out of class early almost every time (if you decide to show up).
Great Professor. I enjoyed her lectures, and she made Biology a super easy class to get through. She's super nice and cares about her students. There's one quiz/super quiz a week, and some are dropped at the end of the semester. There is also homework that's due in December, but don't put it off. I 100% would recommend her class.
Hubbell is a good teacher who is always happy to answer questions during lectures. Her class is made up of pearson homework and quizzes/super quizzes that she gives you two attempts on. Her class is very easy and id definitely take her again!
Lectures included use of clear Power Point slides. Homework was due at end of semester so be sure to not procrastinate. Be ready to read the chapters in textbook to reinforce class lectures. Test were based on textbook and lectures.
So good! Best bio teacher I've ever taken. Her tests and quizzes are so easy, all of them are online. Homework is due in December, but you only have to get 80 points, so I suggest you do it early and then don't have to worry about it anymore.
I found Dr. Hubbell's teaching style to be unengaging and uninspiring. Her lectures were dry and lacked enthusiasm, making it challenging to stay focused during class. She often used outdated materials and did not provide enough examples or real-world applications to help us understand the material.
Her classes are pretty boring. She clicks through the power points and because it was in a giant lecture hall, there was little one on one potential or room for questions. Her attendance is taken at the end of class w Kahoot and her classes usually end little before 6 which is really nice. Quizzes and the Mastering Biology HW are open all semester.
I rarely showed up to class. We used an online textbook for assignments. Assignments are open basically the whole year. Her lectures were pretty boring, just reading off a powerpoint, final was also easy.
Professor Hubbell was a really easy teacher, class wasn't mandatory, but there is a quiz or super quiz like every week or so. Her lectures were from a slideshow and the class just felt really long, but her quizzes/superquizzes and final for me was online and had no lockdown browser.
She is an amazing professor! Her lectures were pretty good and she is very caring, plus she is reachable outside of class. Her quizzes and super quizzes are pretty easy, so is her final. Overall it is a very chill class.
If you get the chance to take Professor Hubbell you should! The tests are online and you only have to get 80 points of homework throughout the entire semester and it only took me about a month. Her lectures are great and she is really good at explaining hard topics. Sometimes there are assignments given during class but they are easy.
If you want a good professor along with a good grade TAKE ms. Hubbell. Tests were at home, and attendance was a kahoot at the end of class. Homework you only need 80 points to get a 100 and it was so easy.
very easy grader, provides great feedback. home-works, quizzes and tests are online which helps if you have test anxiety and or if you have a busy schedule, everything is usually due on Sundays, you have plenty fo time for assignments. She will make time to meet with you outside of class if needed. She's just awesome.
She provides plenty of resources on her D2L page to pass all the online homework and quizzes, and also she provides an attendance link if you cant make it to class.
Professor Hubbell was pretty average. She read off powerpoints in every lecture. Attendance wasn't mandatory and every assignment was online. Super quizzes and quizzes were online w/ lockdown browser but were pretty easy. Get ready to teach yourself from the book and take lots of notes. Otherwise she was super nice and responds quick to emails.
Love this women she is so helpful if you actually want to learn. Also all quizzes and tests are so easy and online with no web cam. Attendance isn't required but she does take it to see how students do when they don't show up
She is super sweet and all of her lectures are posted online. All tests and quizzes including the final were online and she is super fast at responding to emails. She is very caring and always has opportunities for extra credit. Definitely recommend her for BIO 1107.
Easy going class, interesting lectures, and generous grader, would definitely recommend!!
Professor Hubbell was a great professor and gives plenty of extra credit options, would take her again.
She gave us narrated PowerPoints that made attending class not worth while. She is great, but going to class is just not necessary. She is real though, she made sure we had time to ask questions and extra practice if we needed it. No tests, just little quizzes every Sunday. Loved her, easy A class. Learned a lot.
No tests just weekly quizzes. She has extra credit if you need it. Pretty easy class along as you read and go to class.
Great Professor and very easy class. All of the quizzes and assignments were on D2L, and the final was very easy. If you miss a class, then you can see the lecture videos in D2L. She also provided a ton of extra credit opportunities. And for anyone wondering, she does not use a webcam in the Lockdown browser.
I absolutely loved Professor Hubbell in Bio 1107, the class was pretty simple and yes attendance was mandatory, but the best part of the class was all the extra credit she gave to me there was no way for you to not at least get a C in her class, she also gave at least two attempts on all Super quizzes and regular quizzes.
Im in her class right now and overall she is an amazing professor. She is very invested in Bio so you won't have any problems asking questions. No tests besides a final exam. She does a quiz one week 10 questions and superquiz the next with either 20-25 questions. There's lockdown but no monitor. Questions usually repeat throughout superquizzes
This course was super easy. All the quizzes & exams were online and you could look up the answers too. She is very sweet and passionate also. Absolutely loved her.
Professor Hubbell is so sweet and has a very easy class! Everything is online including quizzes (can find online) No test other than final exam! Gives multiple extra credit assignments & you don't even have to go to class fr ngl.
Professor Hubbell's BIO1107 class is a great option - easy, with online quizzes and plenty of extra credit. Attending class isn't mandatory, but the recorded lectures are helpful. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for studying and review.
A lot of group work in this SCM class. Pick groups carefully because it can really affect your grade. Its a pretty easy class, there are some cool assignments that help you learn more about careers in STEM.
Easy course! Attendance isn't mandatory but she'll extra credit in class stuff. Make sure you have a system to take notes and get the homework done or it'll be a heavy courseload for you. Super sweet and very willing to answer questions. Lectures are a bit boring but in-class activities are sometimes fun. I recommend her for sure for bio!
She has a great energy when it comes to lectures. Ex middle school teacher. Very lenient on grades. Many opportunities to improve your grade. Quizzes and exams on lockdown browser no camera. Attendance is taken with a kahoot joke. Overall good and easy class.
Ridiculously easy class. Did not do a good job of teaching me biology lol. if you are a non stem major and have no interest in learning biology, she is probably a good option for you. all tests/quizzes are on a lockdown browser with no camera/microphone
Dr. Hubbell's class is very easy and a guaranteed pass if you stay on top of the basics. The assignments and quizzes are super manageable, but you won't learn much unless you're independently motivated. Her lectures are okay—nothing particularly engaging. Great if you need a lighter course, but not ideal if you're looking for deep learning.
She cares about her students, and does her best to make a 70+ person lecture class engaging and interesting. There are weekly alternating super quizzes and quizzes. Lockdown but no cam. She does attendance with kahoots, and some classes are literally playing kahoots to review.
Dr. Hubbell is great and surprised she doesn't have 5 stars. The course isn't easy but she prepares you well for everything and you always know what's coming next. She truly wants you to learn and understand not just get through the class by memorizing and she will help you by giving you little acronyms and rhymes to remember. Overall great teacher
Hardly ever any work outside class, overall very easy course. Take her she is great however sometimes she doesn't explain properly and will tell you to just look over the assignment.
Sweet lady. Easy class.
Love her! Class does last long and does attendance with a kahoot. With how she grades it's a easy grade. Take her!!!
Dr. Hubbell is a very laid back and kind woman, but she cannot use technology for the life of her. The class itself was very simple but required a LOT of group work. The syllabus was very unclear, and she would forget to tell us about assignments. Sometimes assignments would randomly be due at 4:15 on a Sunday with no warning.
Professor Hubbell was a pretty good professor, she was helpful and answered emails fast. Her class wasn't hard, but there was a lot of work especially busy work. We worked on a group project the whole semester that seemed like a lot at first but being in a group made it easy. Attendance mandatory. There were no exams or quizzes. Overall chill class
She is lovely. The class is very easy, but presentation-heavy. So if presenting isn't your thing, steer clear. She is very understanding if you miss class or turn in an assignment late. Just communicate with her, and she will be happy to help. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is helpful to fully understand the assignments.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone actually looking to learn. Entire class was based on group assignments/projects. D2L was very unorganized and confusing. The work is really easy, but is just busy work similar to a high school class.
She is a very kind professor and is very easy grader. Do the work, show up and ask questions if needed. This is not a hard class but does have a lot of group work.
