Berta was a great professor for intro. Deaf in one ear, so he always answers the wrong person, but it's funny! He makes class a lot of fun, not a sleeper like intro can be. Just get a good TA.

berta is the best teacher. he teaches intro psyc, bio psyc, cogn., behavioral genetics. he usually doesnt require a book, he's completely fair-after tests the class goes throught it, and u can dispute wrong answers (u will generally get a few pts back). plus he's hilariuos, &easy to get along with. best teacher ever-ask anyone whos every had him

Joe Berta is the MAN! Took him for Cog Psyc and I honestly was dreading the class but he made it a lot of fun. A lot of the over achievers think he jokes around too much but his stories and jokes always have relevance and when you're on the the test/studying you remember those stories. Best teacher I've had at CU so far.

His class is like stand-up comedy, but you're learning at the same time. Take all the notes and you'll be fine.

Berta really knows what he's talking about. He goes off on what appear to be tangents but if you can put 2 and 2 together, you realize how these stories illustrate important concepts. If you want to experience what it is like to actually think and evaluate theories and ideas instead of memorizing and up-chucking facts, Berta will show you the way.

Professor Berta is by far the best professor I have ever had. I have taken four classes with him. He combines humor with interesting material to make his classes worth going to and enjoyable. You will remember the things he teaches you because they are always interesting and worth remembering. I will definitely take more classes with Prof. Berta.

As a senior, he's the best prof I've ever had. He has a great sense of humor and you learn and retain the concepts because of his entertaining stories. I've taken every class he teaches.

He's just fantastic. A rare blend of laugh-out-loud hilarious, intriguing stories and true intelligence and love for the subject. His lectures weren't mandatory and he'd give out notes to anyone who asked, but his class was full every day because attending class was like going to a stand up comedy show. He is absolutely AMAZING!! He will work with you to get the grade you want! If you show up and go to office hours, he will give you all the help he can possibly give. He is soooo funny and makes going to class really easy! Just take the notes, study the study guide and getting a B+ or an A will be easier than easy!

He's great. His stories are funny, and I think they're relevant (some people don't). Tests are easy- just write everything he does on the overhead. The study guide also tells you exactly what pages from the book will be important, you don't need to waste your time reading the whole thing.

I had him for General Psych, Bio Psych, Cognitive Psych, and Adv. Cognitive Psych. He is an amazing teacher. I am not a big fan of biology but when I found out he teaches Bio Psych, I took it just because he teaches it. He always keeps my interest in any subject he teaches.

Berta is one of the best psychology professors at CU Boulder. He is clear and to the point about what he is teaching & what will be on the exams. If you attend class and study his study guides you will get a great grade in the class!

Professor Berta is an interesting teacher. He likes to drift off and tell stories about his life or make jokes about the Browns or his love life, but they (normally) relate back to lectures. Very entertaining, would always give study guides and optional worksheets to use for studying for the exams, I enjoyed this class and recommend him.

Amazing professor took his Tuesday Thursday class and wasn't bored for a second! Class is fairly easy if you go to class and complete the study guide. I would recommend him for any class he offers!

BERTA THE MAN. This is my 3rd class I have taken with him, and he kills it! His personality really makes the class worth while. I feel that I have learned alot from Dr. Berta. He is both personable and helpful. Berta is the type of professor that makes a students experience at CU worthwhile. Heres to Berta and his one eyed cat who eats mayo!

He is the only professor whose class I was really looking forward to go to week after week. His stories always relate to the material, it's memorable, and overall a pleasant way to convey the concepts. I dare say his teaching style is actually refreshing. You rarely find colourful teachers like this these days.

People who say that this class is the worse class they ever had were probably people who didn't go to class, didn't study, or got bad grades on the test. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Joe Berta is definitely old school and its quite clear within the first lecture what the rest of the semester will look like so quite complaining!

I loved coming to this class and I attended every single lecture! The people who complain about Berta were probably those who didn't come to class often or messed around on their laptops, scrolling through facebook. Berta is a great guy and so personable for having such a large class!

I was privileged enough to be in Berta's class a couple of years ago and I have great memories of it. He was entertaining and class was like a comedy show, but I still learned a lot. I think lots of people take his study guides for granted but if you go through the guide and make a flash card for each term or idea and study that, you're golden.

Before I was registered for classes I heard all hype about how you need to have professor Joe Berta. So I decided to sign up for my Psych class with him to see what he was like. With any other professor this class would probably be somewhat boring, but Berta makes it fun. I HIGHLY recommend this class even if its not required for your major!

Berta is half-teacher, half-enterntainer. It felt like there was not a lot of content covered, since there was so little work involved, but a year after the course, I still recall and understand the material, so I must have learned something. It was a pleasure to take the class, and I would take another with Berta in a heart beat.

Grades are only based on multiple choice exams, but questions come straight from the notes, super easy if you attend class. Berta is hilarious!!!

Joe Berta is a nice professor. I had him for two of my psychology courses. The main basis is: Don't bother buying the book. If you go to his lectures, take notes, and use his study guides, it's an easy A. The only problem is just how incredibly boring his lectures are. His style makes you want to fall sleep, so don't take this class too earlylate.

I've taken Joe for Bio Psych, Intro to Cog Psych, and now History of Psych. He's hilarious and tells stories in class all the time. However, they almost always relate to the material. His tests are straightforward, just study the study guides. He's very helpful if you have questions. Best professor ever.

If you study the course material outside of class, you don't HAVE to show up since the grade is based entirely off of midterms and the final, all of which are multiple choice only. But I would highly recommend going to class for the sole purpose of listening to his ridiculously long, side-tracked, and hilarious lectures. He's quite a character!

There is no homework but the tests can be a bit tricky. Really study the study guides he gives and you will be fine!

Berta is the absolute best! I do not think most students in his class took advantage of office hours, but the dude is such a chill guy to talk to in his office. He bumps up overall grades. Class exams are literally the study guide but worded differently. You will never be tested on something that isn't on the study guide so make sure you memorize!

One of the best classes I've taken. Berta is hilarious and provides stories relative to lecture. Honestly you just have to skim the chapter and go to class. The only grades are the three tests. He doesn't do homework or clickers. He provides study guides and if you do those you're guaranteed a 90 on test. Such a helpful, passionate, enjoyable prof.

Joe Berta is hilarious and super nice. His class is easy and you don't need to show up to class (although I would because he is super entertaining). All of the test information is within the lecture slides which he posts online and he gives detailed study guides. There are only 2 tests and a final and he may curve everyones final grades. Easy A/fun

This class was awesome. No homework. Just study the study guides and really understand everything on them and you're good to go. Also, if you ever are worried about your grade and you go in to talk to Berta he will help you out. He's a great guy and really cares about students and wants you to succeed.

I took General Psychology with Dr. Berta summer '17, and it was an awesome decision. Professor really knows his stuff and makes class interesting. He always relates psychology topics with amusing real life stories. If you don't feel like a listener you don't need to show up to class (Although it does make understanding material easier).

He is the most amazing professor. In a heavy science based major, his lectures were almost my downtime of comedy and laughter. TAKE COURSES WITH HIM! Even if your're not in the class, just sit in one of the lectures and be prepared to learn in ways you will always remember. Such a good guy. Quite the character.

Really funny guy, cares about his students and gave us a free online code for the textbook (though we barely used it). Grades by two tests and a cumulative final, and makes a complete study guide for each. You don't have to show up, but it's a whole experience listening to his life stories. Will miss him next semester!

Berta is the reason I'm a psych major. Although his classes are sometimes considered a joke considering he makes study guides with what's on the test word for word, you still have to work for your grade.
