I think he is an exceptional professor. He will go out of his way to help those that put forth the effort and desire to want to learn Math. I disagree with any if not all of these comments, which I personally think are ludacris, grades must be earned not given away!

Really good teacher. But you need to go everyday, and do the HW. In which your gonna need to do for any class. I would definitely recommend. Great methods of teaching.

He is a good teacher. I'm not good in math but he help me a lot. The only thing I don't like about him is that he go too fast and he pretend that you know everything, but if you don't know the stuff he stay with you until you understand everything.

This guys is awesome. Everytime I needed help he was always in his office to offer assistance. Anyone would be a fool not to take him for Stats.

I took pre-calc I and II as well as statistics and college algebra with the man. He is the best professor at this university. As long as you DO your homework, listen in class, ask questions, meet after class with him if you need help at his office, no reason why you couldn't get an A.

Hard But Fair

He is the best math teacher I have ever had. I thought I was dumb for math and he proved that as long as you have good explanations it is all good. He leaves TONS of homework but as far as the rest he is great !!!

I am very outgoing and willing to ask for help--except for this guy. He is intimidating. He is sarcastic, I don't think he intends to be mean, but he will embarrass you in front of the class. Seems like he really cares, he is just very abrasive.

I SUCK at MATH and I could not have asked for a better professor! HE IS VERY HELPFUL! He loves what he is doing, which keeps the class interesting and keeps you motivated! Easy to follow, easy to understand. HW easy, TESTS hard but he prepares you! EXTRA CREDIT AVAIBLE :)

Fast paced and really knows his material. This is a good class if you keep up. It was pretty tough for me and im good at math. the material i thought was very interesting. You can really apply it to the real world. you will leave satisfied and he offers extra credit on the test. he is not out to trick you. i really recommend him.

I am a fairly good student with a 3.66 gpa. But I must tell you that there is no way you can pass this class without putting in a lot of work. I managed to get a B but it was not easy. Do the home-work and tests on-line and you'll be fine. He might seem hard but he uses the calculator which is easier than having to do all those formulas manually

He may come off as rude or loud but really he is a great professor who really caes about his students. His class is not easy however, if you put in the hard work and do all the homework and online tests youll be fine. Plus he is always available to help his students.Great teacher!

This professor may come off as rude and intollerant. He has the student's best interest at heart. DOing the extra credit and the labs are mandatory and will help you out in the end! Class was fun, but you have to put in the work,

This is a great professor. If you failed him if you have no one to blame but yourself. Always willing to help the class. Being sarcastic is being funny. If you dont get it then you were probably too stupid to realize that he jokes about his students... Always available to go back with old stuff... Excellent math teacher.

Calculus is hard. Any yeah he teaches the harder aspects of it. I have moved on to calculus based physics, and research. I have him to thanks for getting an A in physics while some of the students around me can't do the math. By the way - quit wasting my chalk.

I never worked so hard for an A in my life but I LOVED it. I love Castillo's passion for teaching. He really wants the students to suceed. If you take him...don't drop. He will work with you 100% as long as you put forth the effort. His office is always open to students. An angel.

Mr. Joe Castillo is really helpful, I took his MAT0024 class and he really taught me a a lot of math skills, He loves his job and that makes him explain clearly...He also provides a lot of extra credit.

He has great desire to help you learn math! I took two math classes with him at BCC and I wish I could of taken him with me when I had to take statistics 2 as well as grad stats. He is a great teacher.

I took online bussiness calculus(C) and statistics(B) with him. He teaches hard classes and you have to be ready to WORK HARD. He is a very analitycal person, very brilliant, and extremely helpful. Lots of homework,assignments and quizzes. Use his office hours, he is ready to sit with you help you out. Take him only if you want to learn.

This subject is already not the easiest and he zips through the chapters and expects you to teach some of it to yourself. The class is not easy but Mr. Castillo is a GREAT teacher, and he explains really good. If you need extra help and you're willing to put time he will help you. He makes the class interesting, I would definitely take him again.

Awesome professor! If you listen to what he says you will pass this class easily. He jokes around but don't take it personally. Don't be late, he hates that! I love this guy and I wished he taught MAC1105, because I am really going to miss him!

If you failed this professor, is because you earned it. Prof Castillo is a great professor that really wants you to past. He very helpful and he's always willing to help to you after class or in his office.

Best math teacher at BC. He is very helpful, if you work hard and show interest he will help you in the quizzes or even tests. Of course he is not going to give answers but he'll point you in the right direction.

BEST TEACHER!! He is always trying to scare you how hard the course is, it's not! His online program is great and I felt I really learned. He is active, doesn't make you sleep in class, like others. He is fun. Don't take any joke personally. He makes you work and think; you will not loose your money, you will learn.

Maintained high interest in a very challenging course. Is very thorough and wants you to "Get it". No one ever watched the clock the whole semester, he had to kick US out! One of my best professors to date, esp for a class I absolutely dreaded going into. Highly recommended if you want to know whats going on and are willing to do your part.

Best math professor I have ever had. He really wants to see students succeed if they are willing to do their part. He will not baby you at all. He always is ready to help you if you go to his office. He will seriously put what he is doing aside just to help you. Dont take him if you are lazy, you must do the homework

I did like this class, was great to have the teacher answering questions once a week on line, and having the mylabs program really helped. I know that my grade does mot show how much I enjoyed the class, but the fact was that the final was with the full content of the session. Great class.

He was one of the best professors I had at BC. Class wasn't that hard but he expects to put in some effort. Which for me was not more than 5 hours a week outside the classroom.

One of the best professors at BC. He's enthusiastic, funny, and very helpful. Tests and homework are online, and he speaks excellent english (esp for a math professor). He was very patient with my class and getting an A is simple if you actually study. I love him. Wish I could take him with me to the University level.

Textbook not req'd but, u WILL need an access code. He teaches u and gives u the opportunity to learn from your peers if u still don't get it. Got a B in his class because I didn't have my own personal internet access (a must)for the first few weeks of class. Great teacher! & he keeps us informed on what's going on around school (he cares).

Apparently he's a great teacher if you're taking his class on campus. However, DO NOT TAKE HIS ONLINE CALC CLASS!! You will spend hours .. days .. weeks of your life doing his homework and quizzes, and you still won't be prepared for his exams. TRUST ME! Wasted too much of my life for a B.

BE PREPARED TO DO A LOT OF HOMEWORK

This is a difficult course. Took it during summer session and wish I would of taken it during a full session. He is a nice guy however teaches very fast. Quizzes and Final are in class and difficult. You must study. Try to get as high as possible on homework and online exams, will help a lot towards your final grade

He answered emails quickly and was available every Monday night for a live discussion. Online courses require a lot of time and I put in as much time as I could. He was very demanding, but I learned the material.

He is a great professor, he is organized, teaches at a fast paced. This class requires a lot of work; aleks, class work, 5 critical thinking assignments, 4 tests (no multiple choice) and a final exam. I actually learned in his class and this was my first math class in college after leaving high school more than 10 years ago.

I was worried about taking this professor. It was my first time in college and I wanted a good calc 2 professor. Mr. Castillo was that person. He is a wonderful professor. And he does not show preference to the males. This class is no joke. It's not suppose to be easy. It's calculus!

Calculus is not easy, many students put their frustration on the professor. Professor Castillo was one of the greatest math teachers I had online.

The class is a little hard, but aleks help ALOT. I couldn't pass the class without it. He is a great teacher, but he goes fast. Do your work and you will pass.
