SO MUCH FUN WAS HAD IN THIS CLASS I CAN'T EVEN. Seriously, it was fun and easy to understand and if you didn't love space before this class, you definitely will after it.
I didn't read the textbook much, but that's because I used the mastering astronomy website. Use is still high because you need the access code to complete assignments. I had a awesome semester, and I would highly recommend this teacher to anyone. You will have fun in his class!
Science classes are usually difficult for me, but Earth Science with this Professor was manageable. He is very helpful and fair in his grading. The labs are difficult, but as long as you show up, do your best on the labs, and the homework you should pass this class. Overall, great professor and may give extra credit which helped those who did it.
He was fantastic! I came into that class absolutely hating science and told him so off the bat; that, he took as a challenge. And let me tell you, he changed my mind completely. I'm an English major but I can honestly say that his class was my favorite, even beyond my English class.
HE IS A VERY INTRESTING AND HALPFUL ASTRONOMY INSTRUCTOR.
An awesome dude. His class is fascinating as well. The tests aren't bad at all but make sure you do the homework and labs well. Great class!
Smart and interesting guy, well fashioned lectures, relevant and helpful labs. Overall all this was my favorite class, tests are pretty straight-forward and he always has extra-credit on them. He's always willing to help with labs and such.
Professor Dalsanto is likely my favorite teacher so far at the College of Dupage. Very informative, kind, and helpful towards any student. Dalsanto does not show any bias, genuinely cares about students. The lab portion in the Astronomy: The Solar System may tend to be tedious though. Great teacher though.
amazing teacher, give you a chance to do good! Very helpful, never lost his patience in me....im a pretty slow learner. Class does get pretty interesting, its not easy, but he helps clarify things to make them simpler. Love the extra credit!
I really enjoyed his class, The thing I liked the most about his class is how well he works with student to help you understand the material. He also takes time to get student feed back about the labs to help adjust them so that they are focused and helpfull. I took both classes with him and I would definatly recomend his class.
If you go to class and even stay slightly interested, you will succeed. He actually teaches the information rather then just telling the info. I am taking his next course because he is just that good!!!!
It can be difficult because it's all power points that he doesn't post online. But he is clearly very passionate about astronomy and uses great examples and similes to get his point across. 3 tests (MUST STUDY), a term paper (not that hard), and a bunch of online assignments that you need to buy a code in order to do. Class can drag but he's nice.
Definitely my favorite class at COD thus far. The labs are not a walk in the park but he was always willing to help whenever needed. Clear and concise info & attendance is a must
Great professor overall, very willing to help students understand the material both in and out of classes.
If you are looking for a sign to take this class with this professor, this is it. I took both sections of this class and I can honestly say that if you are there to learn and are interested in the subject you will have a wonderful time in this class. If there were more sections of this class I would enroll in a heartbeat.
Honestly the best classes I have taken. This is the most knowledgeable, passionate professor I've ever had. He cares about his subject and always tries to make class accessible for students. I cannot say enough good things about this class or professor. I LOVE astronomy now. If there were more Astronomy courses, I would take each and every one.
One of the best teachers I've had at COD. The lectures are interesting, but there is lot of math used in the labs (which are tricky but he is more than willing to help). I suggest reading the section in the book before the lecture. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Really cool guy! You should definitely take his classes.
Probably the best Prof I have ever had!! I am a very visual student and I have never been very good at taking tests. Prof Dalsanto works really hard in making sure u understand the material and the class itself isn't hard but it's not easy either. If you pay attention and do the hmwk you should get an A in the class. He makes the sub interesting!!
This class requires a lot of patience (especially with the labs), and you do have to actually study. But, DalSanto is a great professor and his interest for astronomy makes the class that much better. Just be prepared to do the work
Very interesting class, but a TON of work. Labs are long and take a lot out of you. Weekly assignments are online. Attendance is a must, otherwise you miss the lab and the crucial lecture. Mr. DalSanto is so helpful and nice! Be prepared to do a ton of work in class and studying for exams.
Professor DalSanto is a good professor. His labs (which are every class) are long and can be arduous. But if you study and do the online homework, you shouldn't have a problem passing the class.
There aren't enough characters allowed to describe how well he teaches. He's always available for help, always willing to help, and cares about his students. If you can't take astronomy with DalSanto, don't take it at all. Just go to class and pay attention and it's pretty much an A. Don't forget to do the homework either because it's online.
Professor DalSanto is one of the best lecturers I've had and by far the most helpful. His lectures are very enjoyable because, not only he knows his stuff, but he knows it with a deep passion for astronomy. He's crystal clear and you'll get immense help along the way, just don't be afraid to ask!
He's a pretty good guy. He knows his stuff and will definitely help you out. I remember on the first day he was going over the syllabus, and talked about withdrawing. He then said if there's a reason, and something that we can work on, just talk to me, and hopefully you can pass. I remember him also saying that if you're borderline, he'll bump you^
Professor DalSanto is a very passionate teacher and astronomer. He is very patient with his students and interested in their learning. He puts a lot of effort towards making things as clear as possible and has the ability to simplify very complex topics in a way that students can understand.
Joe DalSanto does a great job of making astronomy fun. As long as you pay attention to the lectures, you will receive an A. Do not buy a textbook or the lab books. Take advantage of the extra credit (it's usually fun!) I would take one of his classes again if I needed to do another earth science. Fun and stress-free class.
Professor DalSanto is a wonderful astronomy teacher. He kept the class engaged and is willing to stop to make clarifications. His lectures were consistently interesting. The tests are pretty easy and straightforward as long as you read the book and pay attention in class. He's very approachable & understanding, so ask him if you need help!
Science was never my best subject, but Professor DalSanto made it extremely interesting. This was a more challenging class for me, even as an Honors student, but DalSanto offered tons of help if needed and he even paused during the lectures to take questions and make sure everyone understood everything. He's very passionate and you'll learn a lot!
Professor DalSanto was GREAT!! He is EXTREMELY helpful and genuinely cares about his students. Science was never easyfun for me, but Professor DalSanto changed that. He has a great sense of humor and is passionate about what he does. One of my favorite professors, definitely.
Professor DalSanto was an exceptional teacher. I would highly recommend his astronomy courses, you won't be disappointed. By far one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is clearly passionate about his teaching and about astronomy, he shows an interest in each student and is always very helpful. Im an art major but he got me to love science too
Professor DalSanto was one of my favorite professors that I have had at COD. Not only is he good at breaking down the complex subject material, but he is obviously passionate about his field of study and very knowledgeable. He can be a rather particular grader but it is reasonable given the subject of astronomy is very dependent on little details.
Overall, a good class. It's challenging but he's pretty good at explaining anything that you need. Hardest grader I've EVER had, even when he says he won't grade too harshly on something. Don't take honors if you don't plan on majoring in science, as the final project is time consuming and pretty vague if you don't reeeeeally love the subject.
Dalsanto is super passionate about astronomy! His lectures are always interesting and he is very knowledgeable in his field. Textbook is needed for online homework and to further your understanding on the topics. There's a lab every class, sometimes they can get tedious. I have learned a lot in his class and I would definitely recommend him.
I took this a few of his astronomy classes. 10/10 would recommend. He has a passion for what he teaches and it shows! Explains things really well and makes the class super interesting! Made me consider changing my major to astrophysics. Not a blow off class but definitely one I loved.
Dalsanto is a good professor. You can tell Joe is passionate about Astronomy and that really wore off on me. If you like Astronomy I don't see why you wouldn't love this class. If you don't care about Astronomy, you'll still get a kick out of watching a guy really passionate and interested in what he talking about. That's nice too.
Professor DalSanto is an excellent professor. The 1122 and 1124 classes are both of average difficulty, but the professor gives great lectures and the book is very informative. This class was one of my favorites and would definitely take it again!!
Joe is an incredible teacher. Funny guy, very passionate about astronomy, and makes it as enjoyable as possible for everyone. I'm a huge space nerd so I loved every lecture but he always makes everything so fascinating to learn about. Really wants to make sure that everyone is on track with the course and is getting the best grade they can.
Very good and extremely passionate about what he teaches. Also very approachable if you have extra questions or need help. Don't come in here looking for an easy A. You do have to work for it but it's not ridiculously hard. If you need a science credit I recommend this class.
Professor DalSanto explains material very well and makes sure to answer every question that students have for him. He makes the class interesting. There are labs every day of class that you must complete but if you ever get stuck on something, just ask him and he will help you figure it out. Would def recommend
If you take this class, don't expect to get an A. He is so nit-picky and he never is satisfied with the answer you give him.
VERY nitpicky. Tests (4) are multiple choice w/ short answer. Nice and funny but can make you feel stupid and regretful for asking questions. Reading and following the textbook before lectures would have probably helped a lot. A couple cool field trips/observation nights for extra credit.
Tries his best to keep the class interesting. Very tough grader on free response questions. The homework and labs didn't seem to match what were on the tests. Super nice guy and a few chances for extra credit. Textbook reading is a MUST
Very interesting class. However, the lectures do not help with the labs at all. There is no way to figure out the answer to half the lab questions in class. Grades extremely harshly on essays without being clear on the criteria for essays. Definitely will not take again.
I've taken both of Dalsanto's classes and talked to other students of his so I can say he is not picky but tries to help students improve. I know he gives A grades if students ask for help. The labs aren't bad if you read and follow them. Be sure to read all of the GOOD comments below for a fair trating. He cares about students !
Im not a science major but Prof DalSanto is the most knowledgeable, passionate professor I've ever had. He cares about his subject and his students and always explains material clearly in lecture and labs. I cannot say enough good things about this professor. He grades fairly so if you attend class and do your work you can get an A if I can!
This is a well-organized class. You will learn a lot and Professor DalSanto is there to help. He is patient and caring and explains well. Each class has a good lecture and a lab to let you use what you learned. Online homework is very helpful. I totally recommend DalSanto! He is passionate not just about astronomy but about students success too.
Extremely well organized. Professor DalSanto's goal is your education. Don't be afraid to ask questions. He welcomes it and takes it as evidence that you are trying and doing your best. He is passionate and knowledgeable about Astronomy and passes that passion on to his students. I felt as though I belonged to a community in his classroom.
I highly recommend Prof DalSanto! He helps you learn more than you thought you could. Not only is he VERY helpful but he also helped me to be a better student and how to learn better. If you do your part to follow his direction and ask for help you will do very well as he is very fair. It was a very enjoyable class that I looked forward to!
Professor DalSanto is my favorite teacher at COD. He is informative, kind and helpful to all students. He does show any bias but genuinely cares about your success. He's always willing to help on labs and is very fair in grading. He never lost patience with me even though I'm a slow learner. His lectures are great as he makes things very clear.
Mr Dalsanto is by far my favorite professor. He is very passionate about astronomy and makes sure everyone understands the material. He is super sweet and cares about his students. His tests are directly from the powerpoint and has a review before each test. By FAR the most organized, well thought out class. LOVE HIM. Take his class.
Honestly the most frustrating class I've ever taken. EVERYONE IN THE CLASS FAILED, so he had to curve the whole class so that we would possibly get credit. No text book was assigned and we only had the lectures to study. We did some labs but he never let us keep them to study and then we were tested on them. Really tough grader.
I cannot under stand the previous rating as I took the same 1126 class and most of us did just fine, we did NOT all fail so do NOT believe that post. I do know of one student who was disgruntled because he thought it was supposed to be a simple class and but DalSanto taught us so much it was worth effort. DalSanto is very helpful and fair!
Understand that astronomy is not an easy subject. His class on stars and galaxies does require you to attend, participate, and apply yourself but what worthwhile class doesnt? For as hard as the class is, DalSanto is there for every question and providing every opportunity to do well. Helps that hes fun to be around! (And very understanding.)
He genuinely cares about his students passing and he will work with you if you need help succeeding. He loves astronomy and wants to pass that love onto his students. I loved his class and hope to take more by him.
DalSanto is a good teacher. Attend his lectures, work on the labs, and study for the tests. He is open to answering questions at all points in the process. He also has several extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. Would take again.
I took Earth 1126 Observational Astronomy and can say Dalsanto is very well organized and a great teacher. He patiently helps students and simplifies complex topics in a way students can understand. His enthusiasm makes for a fun class! He is very fair in grading so if you do your part you will get a good grade and learn a lot. Highly recommended!
Great class, we learned a lot. Prof Dalsanto is very helpful and caring and is one of my favorite professors. He developed and teaches the material quite well. If you have any concerns he is very flexible and fair and will make sure you are satisfied! He is very enthusiastic and highly recommended!
Mr Dalsanto shows passion for Astronomy. He is VERY well organized and offers help if needed. Dont be afraid to ask lots of questions. We are very blessed to have him at COD. My honest opinion is he should be working at a 4 year university, hes that good! Take his class! You wont regret it.
If you attend class, take notes and study, youll be fine. Not an easy class, but worth the effort.
This is not an easy class by all means but Professor D does his part of teaching & he does it VERY well. He only expects you to do the same. If you do your part as a student (show up, participate, do the homework, etc), you will be fine. I don't think I will be lucky again to have a great professor like him further down the road. He is immaculate.
I loved this class! I can tell that Mr. Dalsanto really loves astronomy, and that shows through his awesome lectures. They're very interesting and easy to follow, and he will answer your questions at any time. The labs are pretty easy too. I learned a lot from this class and it was great having a professor who cares so much about the subject.
Prof. DalSanto is possibly the nicest man alive. I was honestly not super excited to take Astronomy and he really made this class interesting and so doable. I learned so much about the world that I had no idea about before, and you can tell how passionate he is about the subject and how much he cares about his students.
Prof DalSanto made one of the hardest classes ive ever taken into something understandable and enjoyable! really makes you think. read the chapters, do the homework, and dont skip class! he really does want to see everybody succeed
He is a great teacher! You need to get the book and read the chapters among with his heavy lectures. there are many opportunities to get a good grade. A lot of extra credit! the tests are difficult and so are the labs that are twice a week! But it is such a great class i recommend but its not an easy class
Professor DalSanto was one of the best teachers I've had at COD. He cares so deeply about each and every one of his students and is so passionate about his students. He tries so hard to make sure the lectures are interesting and you learn the most you possibly can. Definitely taking a second one of his classes even though I don't need it!
Intro Astronomy 8wk summer course. What a lovely guy. You can tell he truly loves his job and cares for his students. Reviews study guide before every test & breaks down complex material very clearly. He is prone to making grading mistakes so if something looks wrong, bring it up. Take notes on lectures and complete the modules and you'll be fine.
Quite possibly the best professor I've had in my college career. He gives fantastic lectures that help you comprehend all the material, makes you feel totally comfortable asking questions, and he's incredibly helpful during the labs. He is really just a fantastic teacher, and if I could take a class by him every semester I would.
He's awesome! He is very passionate about astronomy and has interesting lectures, attendance is not mandatory but you would miss out on so much if you miss, and text book is not mandatory to buy because you will have to use the Pearson code instead and it has the online text book. He gives extra credit and will always help you if you need it!
He's a really great professor and he says "its up to you how well you do" which can't be anymore true. He gives you all the necessary means, 2nd chances, materials, everything but ultimately the work you put in is reflected. That being said, a really solid choice, great lectures, would recommend for making science a little easier to deal with.
A really good and passionate professor. I learned so much about our universe taking this class, and I respect him a lot. He is a very solid choice. I will say that I found his grading on the short answer parts of the tests to be a little tough and I'd say sometimes nitpicking, but over all a really good class and good guy.
Ive never had a problem with a teacher at cod before before him. Super lecture heavy. Easily the toughest grader I have came across. Must be on time. Wish I never took him.
Amazing professor, but rough transition from offline to online during the pandemic. The labs are extremely difficult even after reading all the power points and all the book work.
Not a good teacher. Transition from in person to online was rough to saw the least. Very lecture heavy. Also a very hard grader. The only class at COD I regret talking. Please do yourself a favor and take a different teacher and or class.
Professor DalSanto is one of the best professors at the college. While his labs are a bit on the tough side, he offers lots of help if you ask for it. The transition to online did make getting help and feedback on labs tougher, but he still tried his best to respond to emails and offer as much help as possible. I would recommend him 100%
Professor Dalsanto is an entertaining and caring professor, one that you can relate to in lectures and the material given. This is a class where slacking off and not doing what's assigned will bite back hard. If you can stay on task with the homeworks and labs, pay attention during lectures and take good notes, you'll have fun with this class.
I took Intro to Astronomy (EARTH 1120) as an online course for the summer 2020 semester, and Professor DalSanto was a joy to have. His lectures are very good and were helpful for me to understand the material better. Thankfully, he doesn't throw out a ton of assignments for you to do, so the balance is just right. Recommended.
I took him this summer for an online class. Wonderful teacher. More than prepared. Great online video lectures add to all the other material he provides. But don't be fooled, this is some tough subject matter! Read that book! Study until you can't study more, then study more. Fair grader. Weekly online interaction. Top notch professor for COD!
Spring 1124 course: Dalsanto did an awesome job, especially handling the change from in-class to remote learning. Any unhappy student must not have done their part or didnt talk to him because he is very willing to help, goes out of his way to help you and is VERY fair in grading. Read all the POSITIVE reviews - he is great teacher - recommended!
Professor Dalsanto was caring teacher, his course was well planned out and he always has his lectures on Wednesdays, those were super helpful!!Lessoned learned for me, for a student like me I realize I cant do 5 week classes, I thought I give it a shot for the first time, but unfortunately it wasn't a good idea. Anyways I still learned a whole lot.
I took EARTH1120 as a 5-week summer course to transfer credit to UIUC. Since the class was condensed into 5 weeks, there was a huge workload each day and DalSanto made that clear. DalSanto was very clear on deadlines, grading format, and test format. His lectures were fairly easy to understand and if I had questions, he would answer all of them.
Astronomy is a hard class but Professor DalSanto is by far the best teacher for it. He has great lectures and PowerPoints and answers every e-mail and question you have. He takes time to video chat with you when you need help. He's an amazing teacher and I would take any of his classes. He's the best science teacher at COD hands down.
I took his online summer class for astronomy. It was a 5 week course which means it is fast paced. I probably should not have signed up for a 5 week course as I was super busy with work, but professor Dalsanto was very accommodating and was also not a tough grader. This course probably would have been an easy A for me if I had more time on my hands
Professor Dalsanto was a very nice teacher, he was very helpful in lectures through email and more. He also replies super fast for emails on weekdays because Im sure hes busy on weekends, teachers need a break too. His lectures were really interesting he explains everything clearly. I would take him again!
DalSanto does a great job at preparing his students for his four chapter tests. The tests were multiple choice and true false and for the most part were straight forward. The labs were easy mathematics and tedious to complete but the points help pad your grade. I would recommend you take this class instead of any other applied science course.
I do not recommend taking this professor. His instructions on labs are very confusing and it is literally a nightmare when it comes to doing them. He is accessible outside of class but majority of the time he does not reply back to emails. His tests are extremely hard and you have to rush through. The way how he lectures, you might fall asleep.
Mr. DalSanto gives excessive amount of work to do. His lectures are very interesting but he explains in a way that someone can literally fall asleep. The way that his labs are structured are very confusing and he does not give clear instructions. No matter what answer that you put, he is never satisfied with. It is a nightmare when working on labs.
Class consists of 2 labs a week with a lab partner- vary in difficulty. 4 big tests as you move through the material, not cumulative. This professor knows what he's talking about and is a good lecturer. I would say if you're looking for an easy science credit this isn't it, but if you want to fall in love with the sky I would definitely recommend.
Really good online professor and I'm sure he's even better in person. He was very understanding and accommodating for our needs during the semester and seemed genuinely compassionate and excited about both the material and being able to teach it. The Honors course focused around 4 tests, around 20 short labs and a final group project.
DalSanto is a kind professor, but this class was incredibly difficult and left me drained most days. Unless you have a genuine interest in Astronomy- do NOT take this course. Labs are killer and you better show up every day. I truly do think DalSanto is a great guy, but this class has deterred me from any more lab science classes.
Professor DalSanto was awesome, I learned so much about our galaxy/universe. You'll do well if you participate in class, complete all the hw, and read the book. Make sure to communicate your expectations with your lab partner because the honors course ends with a research project, which is tough but also very rewarding. Take the class, it's great!
Absolutely Terrible! not a very good teacher. His lectures are interesting but he explains in a way that someone can fall asleep. His labs are a killer which left me drained after them. His lab instructions are very confusing. Majority of the students dropped because of the excessive amount of work that we needed to do.
I cannot see how anyone could give DalSanto a poor rating - in fact they all say the same untrue things so must be from one disgruntled student . Look at all the other numerous great ratings! He does not put you asleep and takes great effort to explain and help with labs. Yes, you must do some work but that's how you learn! He is fair and helps!
Professor DalSanto was one of my best, favorite instructors. He did great teaching online during COVID so do NOT believe the poor ratings, read all the good ones (some students were caught cheating so probably were mad at him). Lectures are interesting, labs are not confusing, but just require effort. He is highly recommended and I'd take him again
Science is not my strong subject but I loved DalSantos class! Lectures were interesting & easy to follow. He was always offering help on labs if needed, just ask. I felt he wants all students to succeed if we just do our work. This wasnt a boring class! I would take another Astronomy class of his again. I highly recommend this professor!!
An extremely well organized class. Mr Dalsanto loves teaching astronomy and it shows. He gives fantastic lectures that really help you understand. He patiently simplifies complex topics in an interesting way and is especially helpful on labs which are really not bad. He is very fair in grading too. Take the class, you wont be sorry but glad!
Mr DalSanto is really an exceptional teacher. His class is an awesome, interesting overview of astronomy and also helps you see how science works. He does all he can to help students and is very realistic in what he expects from students. I can really recommend him!
Professor DalSanto is a great professor. If you have any interest in astronomy, I highly recommend his class. He is clearly very passionate about the subject and that definitely has a positive effect on us students! If you are looking for a laid back class, this is not for you. The labs can be difficult, but astronomy in general is not easy.
Professor Dalsanto has great lectures and powerpoints that will keep you engaged for class however he will make you work for your grade with labs that are due every week which he can be a tough grader. Weekly homework assignments and a few exams. Overall He is one of the best options for a science class at COD.
Virtual Classroom Meetings
In the end, I liked Dalsanto but didn't enjoy the subject matter. Even so, he is a tough grader and this class had an obscene amount of labs and homework. First C that I've gotten at COD and for good reason. I was on edge all semester because of the labs.
Very cool professor. If you're into astronomy this is a good class to take. If you're looking into astronomy and you're not sure if you're gonna like it this is a good class to take. You learn a lot about star's forming and how planets have formed and how mars had water and what happened to it.
Professor DalSanto was such a fun professor to have! He was so knowledgeable about the subject, and he was great at helping us learn more about it too. All of the lectures were interesting and fun. If you're interested in astronomy, definitely take it with Professor DalSanto! PS look up Tycho Brahe. You won't be disappointed.
You can tell professor DalSanto really cares about his students and wants you to succeed.
Professor DalSanto was one of my favorite professors during my time at COD. His class was very fun to take and you can tell he's passionate about his subject. The course is easy as long as you pay attention during lectures and understand the content. Participation is a must because he takes that into consideration when making final grades!
Prof DalSanto was a good person but the lectures can be boring as they range from 1-2 hours and then another 2 hours for the lab, spending half the day for this class at least. He'll give you participation points if you speak in zoom classes but it won't boost it too much. You'll be doing labs with a partner or group but email if you want to change
Completely recommend. Class consisted of an in-class lecture and lab, weekly online homework assignment, and a final research project. Math/science are not subjects I am usually good at but Dalsanto's lectures were very engaging and he was always there to answer questions and help with labs or homework if you were stuck. Awesome professor.
This teacher is most definitely not a 5/5, an extremely hard grader with a lack of concern for students' needs.Very hard-to-understand methods of teaching and grading, ESPECIALLY FOR LABS; the labs alone should deter you from taking this class. I'd strongly recommend taking Chem instead if you're looking to fulfill the physical science requirement.
Don't know why the previous student rated him low but me and other students in my class agreed - Dalsanto was great! He's NOT that hard in grading, you just need to follow instructions and he will help you as much as you need. Lectures were good and he really does care for students. That's why he has so many good reviews! Highly recommended.
Professor Dalsanto is very knowledgeable. He is very patient with his students and takes the time to answer any questions. Professor Dalsanto is very professional and respects his students, their time, and their individuality. I would recommend taking this course. It a very well put together course! I 100% recommend this course!
Absolutely one of those rare teachers who not only knows what he is talking about, but how to communicate it to his students in a clear and concise manner. He goes the extra mile for his students and I never felt bored in his classes. The "Be Prepared to Read" is because of math. There is a lot. Be prepared.
Very passionate about the subject and knows how to teach it in a way someone with no experience can understand. When working on labs in class, he was happy to help on any part. Had a big project at the end that he helped with every step of the way to make sure you were on the right path. Provided great support in and out of class.
He is such a passionate professor. If you like astronomy defenitley take him, you will learn sooso much. He cares about his students and will work with you. 10/10.
Every professor should strive to be like Dalsanto. Astronomy is his life & it shows in the best ways. He provides PowerPoints on Blackboard so you can use them to study. His lectures are super interesting & thorough. Labs were sometimes tricky but he will help if asked. If you are interested in space at all, TAKE THIS CLASS! (take the night class!)
This was by far my favorite class this semester and it was only supposed to be a filler. He is so passionate about astronomy and so sweet as well. The class is awesome, observing the sky and being able to pinpoint constellations and different planets. Lecture was only once a week so it was long, but definitely manageable. Take this class.
Professor DalSanto was wonderful. I have always loved astronomy, and his teachings only further solidified my love for the topic. Meetings were once a week and quite long, but I always enjoyed attending class. Labs and homework were not too difficult, and even if they were, DalSanto would provide help when needed. Highly enjoyed this class.
This professor is amazing, and so passionate about astronomy. I found this course very interesting and fun and would recomend to anyone interested in observing the stars/planets. He does expect a lot from his students and grades toughly, but you can ask him any questions and he will guide you to the right answers for the labs. 2 exams, 2 projects.
Overall, really really enjoyed his class!! He cares about your success and can lead you there if you are willing to do the work. The lectures and labs could feel long at times but are also interesting. For the honors credit, you have to do a research project at the end of the semester.
Truly can't tell you how mad I got at this professor during this course. He's not mean, and I see all the good reviews here but seriously he doesn't respect your time. I emailed him plenty of times over this course with questions and things I was confused about and he NEVER responded or acknowledged them. He yaps and doesn't teach. Its frustrating
He was a harsh grader and not that accessible when emailing. I missed points because he had issues accessing the slides I sent him. I couldn't complete some assignments for personal reasons, and he didn't let me complete them later. Other than that, he was a good teacher; you can tell he is very passionate about astronomy.
Professor DalSanto loves astronomy. He shows it off like a kid showing off a new toy. That makes his lectures more like show and tell. HIs interest and enthusiasm are utterly contagious and I found myself caught up in his spell. The course was very organized and grading was totally spelled out with no surprises. Quite appropriately, five stars!!
Engaging lectures, supportive professor. Enjoyed the class, though the workload could be heavy at times. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for exam prep.
DalSanto is an amazing professor. His passion for teaching and support for every student made the long labs tolerable. He grades pretty holistically and doesn't let effort go unrecognized in his final grading. Upon finishing his class I can say I felt cared for as a student and more passionate about my studies (and the stars :))!
I took this class online during Covid. He may be one of the best professors I've ever had! He is clearly passionate about astronomy and wants his students to be as well. While some of the information can be challenging, he is quick to respond to emails. His class is one of the main reasons I'm majoring in physics. I highly recommend him.
Professor DalSanto is an incredible professor whose passion for astronomy is contagious. His lectures are incredibly well designed and helps you retain everything for the exams. You can make sure you do well in your exams just by paying attention to him in his lectures. He is one of the best professors I have had. He truly cares about his students.
