Joe is a really easy going instructor who will make it easy on the students. His lectures are dull at time mainly because he draws lines on the chalk board and explaining his lines, but the test are 3D images expected you to relate to the lines he lectured. However, he will work with you if you need the extra help and time.

If Tommy Chong loved geology this would be his class. Helpful and informative, if dull, he goes out of his way to help students through difficult material and genuinely wants them to succeed.

Mr. D has demonstrated a superior level of knowledge in his field. He delivers a highly detailed and interesting view on subject matter that is perceived to be boring. Joe is an exceptional professor! I had him this past semester for both lecture and lab, and absolutely loved him. He is down-to-earth, and very educated on the subject. He makes learning about rocks FUN! My only complaint is that I cannot have him as a professor for every other class. ;-)

Joe’s class is a really great class to take if you’re not fan of Geology only because he will make in interesting enough not to fall asleep. The first part of the class is challenging because there is A LOT of terms to learn. Once you get those down pat, the rest of the class is easier. Joe is available for his students. The day before each test, he reminds people he is available via phone to answer any questions. Wonderful instructor. His jokes are lame, but bring a smile to your face.

The lab is pretty easy. It helps if you take GEO101 at the same time. The knowledge and understanding of the terms helps a great deal for the lab. Again, Joe is a very helpful instructor. He really cares about his students understanding what he is teaching. Highly recommend him!

You know a class is good when students are asking "what if" questions and sharing personal accounts of the days lecture topic. Joe makes hundreds of terms and processes work together and easy to understand and remember. I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to my major field of study, Geology. I vote for GEO 102 to be offered.

I have no words how to explain this class it was super excited and eger to go. This class made you think about how nature can be like earthqukes and the damage it can really cause and is something we do not think about we just say that was so sad. I enjoy lab and lecture i just wish we could have taken a field trip. take him! He knows his info.

I had no problem (re)learning the material, and I saved some money too because he provides all the lab materials! Absences can hurt your grade, as with any class.

Great guy! He is very laid back when it comes to lectures but he gives you everything you need. Only one class per week, about two or three labs then the test. He gives you three ways to study online which makes it very hard for you to fail. I would take his class again if it meant I can Recieve credit for it.

Your knowledge of the subject is very good and the flash cards you have to study for the tests or the best study material that i have used to get an A on every test. The only thing that I would recommend changing is some questions on the test have to do with specific examples that we have no talked about so its very hard to answer those questions

Literally the easiest class I've ever taken in my life. He's a bit weird (and admits it himself lol). It's a 50 min class but his lectures only last like 25-35 min(one time it was 10 min) so he lets us go early. 4 tests and a final, No homework. Just show up, take note, and that's an easy A. Highly recommend

I'm one of those students who never go to class if I don't need to, but even though I missed lectures, I still passed the class with an A+. I missed an exam one time, but he let me retake it with no questions asked. There's a lot of chances to get your grade up. When I was in class, I loved it. Lectures are short, funny, & w/ odd sense of humor.

Joe is extremely laid-back and understanding, and won't require additional purchases of a textbook ("scams," and I agree). A little effort goes a long way for a fairly easy "A."

Professor Joe is a great teacher. Besides his interesting lectures, he provides his lecture materials online as well. He provides opportunities for extra credit. He will work with the student on missed exams. Although attendance is mandatory, he will work with each student on a case by case basis to ensure that missed work is covered.

He was really funny and made sure that his class was easy. The lectures were a little boring sometimes but he always cracked funny jokes. The class is lecture heavy so I wouldn't recommend skipping class. If you bomb the tests you can always do some extra credit to bring up your grade.

Although I'm not a science major, I really enjoyed this class! I learned a lot about Arizona's geology and even how to read a topographic map. This professor understands that most of the students won't be geologists but still manages to incorporate useful information into the class that students can apply in life. I loved this class!

I was recommended this teacher by my friends and I was glad I listened! Professors Joe lectures are amazing, very intriguing, and not lengthy! The summer lectures were supposed to be 2 hours but he taught all the material in 30-45 minutes! Not many teachers can do what Joe can.

I took Joes summer lab and lecture- he managed to teach us all the material needed in less than one hour (mind you the class about 2 hours each) . Also, be ready for rock puns and rock music playing in his room- Joe is a special kind of instructor- Im not even majoring in anything science related but he makes it seem so cool! Hes very passionate about geology, hes always making jokes related to geology which are bad jokes but their funny. Hes very accessible outside of class. He makes the topics very easy to understand. Study for every exam and youd pass the class easily.

Very nice professor, but lectures are just too long! I feel that the lecture doesn't really fully prepare your for his tests that are 60 questions. He does ask you to take notes but I didn't find them very helpful on some of my tests.

This is my 3rd time taking glg 101, because every single time ive realized how terrible the professor is by the 2nd day and dropped it. Joe definitely cares about the success of his students. The midterm and final are easy points as they are based on the 4 tests that are a part of the class (final is optional btw!) Gives the opportunity to do extra credit (40pts which are really easy) He is a kind grader and will make sure to give you the best grade possible. I love his dad jokes!

This professor is passionate about his field and it shows in his lectures. The lectures are informative, funny, with geology puns throughout. I recommend you print the lecture notes before class, so that you can listen to his lecture and only have to write in your own sub-notes to clarify a topic or subject. I really enjoyed Geology 101 and 103 lab. I will be taking Geology 102 and 104 lab next semester. Professor Drosendahl did well explaining things and made himself available to students. He had a quick response to emails and had fun extra credit. He is very helpful and wants you to pass.

Joe's passion for geology is contagious. He provides diagrams and notes on the Canvas app to support his lectures, tells us what will be on the tests, provides for extra credit, and leads field trips. Many teachers view the teacher/student relationship as a battle. I think Joe views it as a shared adventure, and he is thrilled to have us along!

They are vocab heavy and it helps to memorize the diagrams he provides, if you miss lecture you 100% need to study either a classmates notes or the notes he provides from lecture (in canvas).10/10 would take again

He was amazing. Graded entirely on test scores based on the lectures, then participation in labs. He would spend enough time to go over all the information, but also finish consistently early, as long as you take notes on the lectures then study them before the test, all the information would be there.
