Profesor Eridon is the best chemistry teacher that you could have. He makes chemistry easy to understand. If a student is still having trouble, he will come up with several ways to explain until the student can understand the ideas and concepts.
He is very good at describing difficult concepts. He is a little long winded in the pre-lab lecture but I think that just adds to his effective clarity. He is very slow in returning graded work.
Enthusiasm for the subject a plus.
Joe worked hard to present the concepts clearly and was available to help further during office hours
Joe is great about teaching tough concepts and making them easy to understand. He is pick about some lab data figures. Most of the lecture data is on handouts... very nice!
Joe is a great lab teacher. His explanations are clear and he is willing to help. He speaks at your level and doesnt try to impress with vocabulary. I learned more from him than my 122 lecture teacher. He's fabulous!!!
Great teacher, able to convey the concepts with clarity and willing to help.
Very clear about material and willing to help outside class.
I loved Chem lab with Joe. His excitement is contagious. He really is dedicated to you learning as much as you can and doing well. His class helped inormously with understanding what was going on in lecuture. I highly recommend taking him.
Great, talented teacher. Sometimes gets in a funky mood, but it doesn't affect he's teaching, he's very good at it. You will learn in this class if you study and a good grade is possible.
Joe explains Organic Chem very well. Good lectures. Very helpful, nice guy. Tests are tough, but that's due to the subject, not Joe. Better than UNM.
Made the lecture part of the class make sense to me after being bewildered in class (unfortunately I had the Lab AFTER the lecture). You may want to take your lab class earlier in the day than you Lab b/c if Chem isn't your thing,Joe will help you understand it better than the lecture teachers.Understands that most of us are not going to be Chemists & so he tries to teach on a student's level but he has a lot of knowledge too if you want to ask more detailed questions!
GREAT TEACHER FOR LAB, GOOFY GUY, CLASS WAS EASY BUT LABS USUALLY ARE. WOULD RECOMMEND HIM.
If only he would teach O.Chem lab... Very lively (eccentric at times) and informative. If every O.Chem teacher was like this, there would be to many pharmacists, Organic chemists, chemical engineers, etc, etc... GREAT TEACHER.
Fantastic!
He hands out his notes and if you study them you will do great on the tests. He doesn't throw anything at you that you haven't seen before! Definitely take Chem 121 with him if you get the chance!
Despite his goofy efforts, his class was really boring and he would linger on an unimportant topic for too long. I missed all of the major points in his class. I probably wouldn't take a class he's teaching again.
Joe made Chemistry easy to learn. Go to class and you'll get an A!
You can't trust a chemestry instructor who isn't a huge dork. That being said, this guy is a great chemestry instructor.
Joe is great. He gives out lots of handouts that are much easier to understand than the textbook. I got an A and pretty much studied off of his handouts. Granted you need the book if you want extra problems in areas you struggle with. My only issue with him is that he doesn't return assignment very timely if at all. He makes chemistry easier.
Unlike many other chem professors I've had, this is a true teacher and not just a lecturer. Not pretentious, not self-righteous, not arrogant, always willing to help. LONG LIVE JOE ERIDON!!!
Greatest Chem teacher i have ever had. Always smiling and very helpful. Joe you need to teach Gen chem one and two please everyone is failing because of Aron he is so awful. You wont regret it ;-)
Joe was an awesome teacher! He was extremely helpful and very patient with your learning needs. His class was very interesting. He was very friendly and welcoming with your questions. I passed my Chem lecture class because of him. I suggest you take his class if you want to have a low stress and interesting learning experience!! Thanks Joe!!
Excellent teacher. Never taken chem before and have an A average. You need to study your notes to pass. Gives study guide prior to tests. If you study you pass. Thanks JOE!
Excellent professor. Seems to go a little slow but better too slow than too fast. Great class!
Joe is a great teacher. he knows his stuff and can express it in many ways. I took Chem I with Clarissa Sorenson and regret it wholeheartedly. Joe is the only one to take chem I and II lab and lecture with.
I was happy with his class until I was sick the day of one of his tests. I told him, but he decided that there was no way that he was willing to let me retake the test even though each test is around 20-30% of your grade. If you have taken the Intro to Chem then don't take his course. He has taught for yrs and has never changed his lesson plan.
Joe is a great teacher, he explains even tough concepts in an easy to understand way and his handouts are perfect summary study guides. The only negative comment I have is on his tests - he gives 3 tests w/25 ?'s ea. - not much wiggle room between an A & a C and even though he curves I would have liked partial credit, quizzes, homework anything...
At the beginning of the term I felt very confident about Joe and his teaching ability. As the term went on the class became more and more confusing and when the class would have questions he would just say that he didn't know the answer, that he already answered that and he was not going over it again, or that he didn't feel like the question perta
Joe is a great professor, he makes the complicated into something that is clear and managable. I've never had a chem class in my life, and left his lecture with a good understanding of the material. Only complaint I have is that your whole grade is 4 tests and THATS IT! Makes an A pretty hard to achieve...
Great prof.... He was one of my favorite profs last semester
Refused to answer questions directly pertaining to the material and threatened to make the test more confusing if we continued to ask questions regarding these topics. Complained that we were limited on time because of all the holidays, yet was consistently late for class and let us out early regularly.
Joe makes chem easy, this was the only chem i had to take,if i had to take general chem i would take him.
he is great he knows his material and ready to help anytime,he was my fav instructor last semester,he had his days but dont be scared, please dont take it personal,he is that good.
he is good, try him and no regrets at the end
He is a good professor just really hard class due to no homework to practice. Test are alot like the example test he gives out.
Joe is awesome. I highly recommend him. I wish I had taken him for lecture too (instead of Katz). He explains concepts in an interesting way. He helped to fill in the gaps for me from lecture that I wasn't quite getting. To top it off, he is a really cool, interesting, and delightful person to talk to.
Great teacher. I took him for Chem lab, and will say he is definitely the best. Very very helpful and considerate. He goes through all the procedures step by step. He makes Chemistry Lab fun, and would go an extra mile to ensure you understood the material and get a good grade in the class. He is also very funny. I would highly recommend him!
Very nice teacher, but also the stereotypical "mad scientist". Only thing he grades is tests - but he gives you plenty of homework and study guides to help, and he's very willing to guide you where you need it. I've never had chemistry before, and I aced the class. Just make sure to study a lot and make sure you know the concepts for the tests.
I had Joe for Gen.Chem II lecture and lab. Very knowledgable and made Chem easy to understand. If you attend all the lectures, take good notes(which he gives you), do the homework and study then you will do good. Overall was my favorite instructor!
This class is HARD, period, getting a good prof. is imperative. I was shocked I passed, but i worked my toosh off. Do NOT miss lectures, sit up front, study, and you will pass. You get what you put in. Joe is a great teacher, I highly recommend him.
Joe is a good and easy instructor. He goes by his handouts and his test are pretty easy if you do the recommended problems he gives out. I recommend him.
Joseph is by far my most favorite teacher as of today. He is a wonderful teacher. He teaches to the point and teaches what you need to know. I highly recommend him!
Great teacher!Lectured at a level where you could actually understand.I really don't like chem but he explained it so well, that I actually enjoyed the class. You're allowed a periodic table on all tests and can put any notes on the back on it.Fair grader and if the average is low,he'll give easy extra credit.Very cool teacher!I would recommend him!
You are only 4 grades in his class, 4 exams, that' it.
Never would I recommend J. Eridon: 1) he only graded and returned the first 4 of 12 labs - what happened to the rest?, 2) he was highly critical of particular students, 3) he told us the dept. would not let us have the key for the final review - incorrect!!! Got the key from another prof.! = SLACKER, AVOID this one folks
Good teacher overall, just make sure you put in the time to study.
Took him for lab and it was my favorite course of the term. He's extremely knowledgable and helpful. He makes it fun to learn chemistry and I would highly recommend him.
This man gets you to understand in a way that is a talent , I would like to take him in all of my future classes
Joe is great! I've taken him for 3 separate classes. He makes chemistry so much easier than any other teacher. He's nice and willing to help and funny. I always do well in his classes. Definitely take him! It will make your life easier and he's awesome.
Loved Joe - he made the class wonderfully easy for me. He gives out enough paper to kill a small forest, but they are very good notes. He doesn't like e-mail or computers in general, but the class doesn't suffer for it. He is just quirky enough to maintain interest. as an example, he throws ball & stick figure pieces around the room.
Amazing! I loved the lectures - he explained everything so well I barely had to do anything at home. Awesome handouts and helpful practice tests. He's funny, extremely friendly and helpful. Didn't mind (even enjoyed) helping me out with tons of MCAT questions in his time after class and pretty much taught me basics of organic. Thanks Joe!
Joe is an awesome teacher, his tests are fair and you will learn the material.
Joe does a great job explaining the material without getting in the way. He is relaxed and approachable. When you have questions he does his best to help you understand.
He is so good at explaining things so that difficult concepts become easy. He is also a bit of a silver fox.
Joe is the best. He has a great attitude, and makes difficult information seem easy. He's got great lectures and a great attitude, and a great smile to go with it. Joe's the best.
Joe is always very clear on everything. He doesn't make anything harder than it needs to be. He has a good sense of humor and knows how to make the students get it without making anyone look stupid.
Joe is an amazing professor. his lectures are amazing. he makes complicated material into simple and easy. i not only get an A in his class but also I learned a lot. highly recommend taking him. he gives sample exams and his actual exams are just like sample exams, allows you to bring cheat sheet and also gives extra credit. Easy A.
Joe was awesome! I wish I had him for my lecture! His lectures in class were very clear, and he didn't make the labs overly complicated. The weekly homework wasn't too much, but he did give quizzes. Definitely take his class!
Lectures are amazing and not boring at all. He explains everything in a way that you can actually understand. Show up to class, pay attention and you are golden. He is very helpful if there's anything you don't understand. No quizzes, your grade is based off of 4 exams. He even gives you sample exams so you know what to expect. Would take again!!
Joe is a good teacher although he was rude to some of the students when she couldnt understand a problem and he wanted to move on. He is impatient but if you can keep up with him you'll do fine. There was one extra credit but he said he doesnt do that all the time. He has four exams and your grade soley depends on those.
Very easy lab. Great class to take if you have a rough schedule. Demonstrates the lab for you before you do it, doesn't assign lab homework, usually gives you a few answers before you do the practical, and you get out early every day. Has daily habit of asking questions then tells the class "shhh-shhh" when people attempt to answer.
Joe is an excellent teacher. Lots of hand outs, do not get the book, save some dough. He'll text you on the material he gives you every class. You can make up text if you are unable to make it to class. Good lectures. I took the lab also, very clear, goes over every experiment before you do it. Some extra credit opportunities.
I loved Joe's class. He is very laid back and makes dimensional analysis simple. He has a different way of explaining Chemistry and makes it easier to understand. Ask him questions, he's great at explaining Chem simply. He's a Chem geek, and I found him fun and entertaining. You can't miss class, you'll suffer. Loved this class.
Joe is an amazing Teacher. I was worried about Chemistry, but Joe teaches like Kindergarten and breaks it down for you to the simplest form so you can understand even the hardest material. He give you practice tests that will be like the actual test, so as long as you can do the practice questions your good. only 4 tests so only 4 grades total.
Joe was an excellent teacher. I was nervous about taking Chemistry but he made it easier to understand. No homework and your grade is based 3 tests. He does offer one extra credit opportunity as well. He gives out a lot of handouts with his notes, but if you miss one class you will be behind. Overall I really enjoyed his class!
Joe is one of the best teachers I have had at CNM. He gives out worksheets with notes and problems every class and a sample exam before each exam. He only gives out four grades, one for each exam and one extra credit opportunity. No homework or papers. I also learned a lot from the way he taught. Would definitely take again
I loved this class because Joe just had this way about him that made everyone understand and start to love chemistry as much as he does. I loved going to his class not only because I was learning a lot, but also because he made the class so fun. He was hilariously funny and half the time everyone in the class was giggling. I would take him again.
Good teacher, doesnt give out homework but he gives you lecture papers with practice problems. He lectures exactly only off the papers he hands out and is very thorough through each problem. Even if he doesnt use the text book i would have it handy for the practice problems. Practicing them helps with your exams. I definitely recommend him!
i lost my scholarship because of this class, he doesnt do anything but lecture, doesnt give homework or anything to practice what you have learned by the time of the exam, you already forgot everything and when you teach yourself like i did, you make small mistakes. Would not recommend
Took Joe for both intro chem and chem lab three semester later (Got a B but I don't recommend doing that!). He is amazing. His lectures are interesting and funny. He explains things into terms that are understandable and he makes sure everyone knows the material. He allows a full sheet of notes on the back of a periodic table. Take his classes!
So great! I've never understood chemistry until this year so it's been nice to finally have a teacher who makes things make sense. His lectures explained everything very well, and the practice exams he gives out are pretty much exact copies of the tests. Tests are a 100 percent of your grade so can be stressful, but study and you'll do fine.
Joe is an amazing teacher. and if you read his syllabus you will notice he only gives 4 exams including the final. This is college and he does not assign homework and he will provide you with his own work sheets. On the work sheets he will write practice problems for you to do if you want to. do it, it will deff help with the exams.
show up for class, do the end of chapter problems he recommends, review all the old tests he gives you to study from.
One of the best professors I've had. Really knows how to give a lecture and makes the lab enjoyable. He's also funny and very helpful with homework or classwork. Allows you to submit past lab reports without penalty. Fair grader. His lab really does help with the chem theory class.
One of the best teachers at CNM. He makes sure you understand before moving the lecture along, very patient and he explains things well. He made me unafraid of Chem. highly recommended
Joe is a great teacher. He makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. Make sure to attend his lectures as he covers alot of material with excellent examples and explanations. No homework, no quizzes, graded solely on four tests. Review his handouts and practice samples. Joe certainly took the scarey out of chemistry.
Awesome at taking everything step by step and thoroughly explaining everything. You also won't need a textbook because he prints everything out for you.
He is outgoing and approachable. He walks around class see if you need help or understand material. He has a great way of interpreting information and fair grader. I would recommend him to anyone and would take his course again.
My favorite teacher at CNM. Especially a difficult subject for so many. I loved his handouts made it clear when I was at home and didnt understand. He curves the grade if majority of people did bad. If you did his non assigned hw, show up to class and practice exams you will be in great shape.
AMAZING TEACHER! Definitely one of my favorites. He's hilarious and so accommodating. I never feel like I'm bothering him. He does his best to explain concepts in the simplest way possible so that you understand. He's nice, understanding and fair. He's very lax so you don't have to worry. Just make sure to talk to him. I wish I had him sooner!
Joe was the best. No homework was assigned. He's old fashioned and doesn't do online work. He provides handouts that make the content your learning easy. There are 4 exams total each worth 25%. He provides practice exams that are lifesavers!!! I was always awful at chemistry but now? I think I get it.
He's fairly nice but I personally think his work isn't fair because your final grade in his classes is only based off of 4 tests. If he at least assigned homework or had quizzes, it would've been more fair.
Joe is such a great professor. He makes it crystal clear as to how the lab should be done by doing a quick demonstration, and then provides cheat sheets for how the math would work out for each lab. He is very laid back and doesn't give you a late penalty a week after the due date.
Mr. Eridon understands the struggles of the topics he teaches on and clearly outlines ways around some of the problems you'll encounter. He's very sarcastic and funny so if you don't like that then he's not your guy. A helpful tip for his labs is to always show up on time and you'll basically get an A. He helps you understand the lectures as well.
Mr. Eridon's class was better than I expected. He makes his own lab videos that I enjoyed. I liked his little jokes & how he lightens the mood. I needed help on a report sheet that confused me. We set up a Zoom meeting & he was very nice and had so much patience with my stupid questions. He isn't too tough of a grader but you do have to work at it.
This class was pretty tricky. Sometimes the instructions were unclear but he is very good about answering any questions. The labs are really long but he shortens them to a reasonable length. I did learn a lot and I approached the thorough feedback on assignments. Would recommend this class.
Professor Eridon's lab was really great. He started with what we were doing and critical knowledge. Definitely keep your lab report to help on your quiz (open notes) and quizzes were online with more than one attempt. The final was difficult but if you take lecture at same time you will be golden. Funny, helpful and approachable.
Great professor for lab. He'll tell you everything you need to know to be able to do the lab before you start. He prepares his own handouts to help. He'll always answer any questions. Grades in a timely manner. Would definitely take again
He was a great professor. He bases your grade off of four exams though, and does not assign homework. It's a pretty easy class just follow along in the notes. Before an exam he hands out study guides and he lets you bring in a page of notes! Attendance is not mandatory but he covers a lot each lecture. I recommend taking this class.
This is the second class I've taken with Joe. I like him and his teaching style a lot. He always gives interesting real world examples and applications of the concepts you are learning and includes demonstrations when possible. Your grade is based only on the 4 tests, which I don't mind but people who don't test well might keep that in mind.
I have had Professor Eridon two times at CNM and I have nothing but great things to say about his unique grading system and awesome lectures. Understand that he grades you only on three tests throughout the semester but gives you plenty of time to study and lots of resources on paper.
Before each lab he would give a rundown of the math and the topic and make it easy to understand before going in. He gave good feedback on lab reports. However he does not use the grade book on brightspace so you wont know what your grade is which is my only issue. He also covered a lecture and made the study guide easy to understand.
Professor Eridon is a great teacher! Each week he gives a run-down of the lab, and a mini lecture that goes with the lab, so even if you fall behind in the lecture course, you can still keep up with his class. He is very helpful when you ask questions, and wants you to succeed in the course.
Joe was a great professor, he made lectures clear and understandable. All material necessary was provided in class except scantrons. Only homework was 25 question study guides that you have weeks to complete and turn in before each test. Grades are based off of 4 tests but you get to bring in an entire sheet of notes per test. Would 100% recommend.
