cant teach for his life!
always messes up explaining the problems on the board and then we have to start all over again but the math is easy when he teaches it right!
Hard hard hard class. He tries though. It's a boring subject.
terrible, terrible, terrible. He is rude to his students and cannot teach. He not only confuses the class, but he confuses himself! He makes so many mistakes during problems. He teaches to the board more than to his class.Tests are impossible.Hes the worst!
One of the greatest teachers ever! He knew what he was talking about and the class was soo interesting. I was so excited to come to class each and everyday. I recommend him to everyone...Take him and you will enjoy him.
In my four semesters at Bucks, he is probably the worst teacher I have had yet. He was not helpful at all to any of us. He did not seem like he was even interested in teaching us at all. He treated his students like he was just babysitting them for 90 minutes a day.
I hated that class with a passion. He couldn't teach and his tests were hard. His grading system is skewed & he gives you as many points as he feels your answer is worth. People received more points than me for worse answers. I am so glad it is over and I wish I could have had a different professor!
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! confuses himself and the class. made us buy 110 dollar calc and we never use it. never goes over homework. doesnt go over the test which everyone fails even with the curve. you are responsible for learning some of the sections on your own.
I hate to give any teacher a bad grade, but this guy is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He clearly knows a lot about math and obviously loves it, but he just cannot teach it to students. However he cannont teach the material and acts as if you are a moron if you don't gert it right away.
makes easy things hard to understand at first, and doesn't understand students questions
Should not be teaching algebra, he is a very brilliant guy so he teaches everything at a different level, impossible to learn from him!!! do not take him, i warn you!
He is a nice guy but confuses a lot of the students. He shows up late like five minutes. Never goes over homework. He explains things difficult. He does not make sure the students understand. He just writes the terms and gives you a couple of examples and gives you homework and sends you off.
although a nice guy, he sucks as a teacher. confuses the hell out of you and you feel like an idiot when you ask any questions. my class started with 24 and was at 12 by the end, of which most were failing. nice guy but horrible teacher.
You really need to take a stat class to understand him. he knows his stuff. but its almost as if the material is too easy for him so he gets bored and is horrible at explaining material. He is not prepared for class and does not review for tests and does not normally leave time to review homework. DON'T TAKE HIM.
Ok, i absolutely do not recommend this teacher to ANYONE. He will treat you like crap and make your you feel stupid and worthless. Never helps you out or answers questions and totally avoids having reviews, by saying "sorry we don't have time". He talks to the board and makes up stuff as he goes. Nothing counts for points exept tests and attendance
Absolute worst teacher I have ever had. If you want to struggle all semester take him. He does know his math...but confuses all his students. He shows up about 5 minutes late to every class, does not have a review before tests, does not make time to review homework or answer questions that students have. If you take him I wish you luck.
STAY AWAY! calc 2, and he coudln't even do problems that we asked from homework. tests too hard. summer class so things were crammed, but worst experience ever.
Very smart guy. Should be teaching more advanced classes. I got stuck taking his twice by accident. I failed both times. He moves too fast.
Quite possibly one of the worst professors I have ever had in my college career. He stood in front of the class and read the textbook. Avoid at all costs, there are plenty of other (good) stat professors on campus.
I have just the comments about him and they are coming true! I have no choice but to take his class since he is the only teacher who is teaching Calc III at night. He teaches so fast that you must teach yourself later. The dude is smart, probably too smart to be teaching.
He erases the board before you can write it down, he wears knee high socks and sketchers and i failed the first exam, but this wasnt my fault!

Worst Teacher!(ask him what time it is hell teach you how to build a watch)if u do take the class do u&everyone a favor dont ask questions!Better yet STAY AWAY! Even if u withdrawl be a waste of time&money
If it was not for the tutoring center I would have failed. I was at least glad that he drops your lowest test grade.
You can tell he is a very smart guy.I'm surprised there were so many bad comments about this teacher, because I like him as a teacher.Sometimes he explains things way too much, but that's good when you're the one who doesn't understand something. He drops the lowest test score and doesn't collect hw. I would take him again.
worst teacher ever..half the class dropped out and the other half failed. Such a nerd too, ugh, basically just an all around annoying guy.
Do not take this professor for ANY class. I have never had a less professional and unprepared instructor. He literally read definitions for Calc III and could not answer one homework problem correctly.
This guy invites questions then spends 20 minutes making you feel like a moron! What a ****! Do not take this class...EVER. He speaks at 90mph and has ZERO personality. You end up not understanding things you were sure of before!Grades on what he thinks answers are worth....spend the money on anything but this class!

by far the worst teacher in my 3 years in college!
This subject is hard enough without having a totally non-helpful teacher teach it! I got an A+ but had to rent video tapes and basically teach the course to myself. No personality at all!!! Don't take him, go with Betsy Farber (she wrote the text book)
Very good teacher I think, with a very straightforward approach (lecture, homework, exams). I had no problems at all, and though attendance is 10% of grade he was very lenient about absences. I recommend.
I was afraid to take this teacher because of all the comments but he actually is not that bad at all! The only thing I would say bad about him is that he is slightly boring in the sense that he takes too much time on a problem just to show how it might be done, even though you most likely won't ever see that problem haha. He is better than Chertok!
He was a total jerk...always answered our questions sarastically like its somthing that should have been onvious. I hate him with a passion, however, i got a really good greade in his class
Gets very flustered if there are too many questions. Teaches opposite style of book - confusing. Makes subject more complicated than what it should be.
Yes! I passed!! I didn't really think I would!!! he said he's experimenting with collecting homework and i think that's what saved me in the end--barely. The tests were pretty tough really
Subject hard but I rate prof easy because hw isn't mandatory, lowest test score is dropped & tests usually are curved lots. Does things different from book sometimes...not always clear but encourages quesitons. quirky personality -I remember when he had hair ;)
I didn't think he was that bad. If you take notes and pay attention you have a chance. I thought he was helpful. He also gives a curve as the work gets harder. He is lacking a bit in personality but he is a math professor, not a chat buddy.
it was math concepts- he was way too smart to be teaching the class and he proved that by being a jerk to us when we had questions. there were older women in the class that would ask questions too showing that not only the young kids couldnt understand him, and he answered them sarcastically with this "duh" kind of attitude. he can comprehend num
Worst Algebra teacher I have EVER had. He does not explain how anything is done, he just does problems on the board and expects you to know what he's doing. If you ask questions you get an attitude from him or are told you should know this material already. I would strongly recommend NOT taking this teacher for ANY math course.
He makes me not understand things that I thought I once understood before. He teaches some things, but doesn't go over everything that you are to do for homework. So it makes everything more comlpicated. He more so "lectures" then teaches. I reccommend not taking this teacher if you need to pass math!
worst teacher ever. he like sot hear himself talk. if your good at math take the class bcas he doesnt take attendance and doesnt care if you shouw up or not. if your not good at math do not take him.
The worst math teacher ever, he goes over easy things in class then hits u with the hardest problems on the test, do not take him, it's a waste of time and money
I can't understand why so many people don't like him -- usually I hate math, but this was my favorite class this term! I can understand how it might be confusing if you miss classes, (he allows it) but he explained everything multiple times and will go over anything he is asked to. He is also very fair, and I learned a lot from him.
Im really good at algebra and I took this class online. I had to take 5 tests and thats it but if you mess up once it really effects your grade. You dont have to do the problems but if you dont youll fail the tests. It started off easy but then i would study 5 sections and there woldnt be questions on some of them. Try to take someone else.
A total Math fanatic! He is willing to explain things; however, when he does he explains it to you as if you Will in Good Will Hunting. His class is fast paced and it is difficult to catch up if you fall behind. Be prepared to do 2 hours of HW a night.
He doesn't explain anything properly. If you ask him a question he looks at you like he is saying "why dont you understand" He goes off topic and teaches things too fast. You are better off going to the tutoring center during calss time and then just show up and take the tests.
worst professor i have ever had. the examples that he goes over in class do not relate to the tests in difficulty level. the tests are impossibly hard. so if you want to study your butt off and still do bad (like me) then take this class...if not stay far away.
We all get it; you're good at math...
Not the easiest - says he pitches the course to those going on to calculus. Still I got an A so... Syllabus doesn't say he drops lowest test score but he does. Also has website with old exams that turn out to be similar to new ones. Doesn't take attendance.
Absolutely horrible. He's completely pompus! He doesn't explain or interact with the class well. Seems aggitated when you ask questions. Should be a mathmatician not a math teacher. I LOVED math until I took his class and I took trig in high school! Hate hate hated his class! Class went from 26 to 8 people and half the remaining class is failing.
I got my B, that's all I care about! He really is more flexible than he at first appears.
6 weeks of an accelerated intermediate algebra class with this guy...never once in those 6 weeks bothered to learn anyones name in the class. over all teaching...more concerned about what color marker to use on the board...seemed to get irritated if you asked questions. The tests were so hard he had to curve every one when he graded them.
i really tried to pass this class, it was a summer course and fast paced, but when a teacher is unwilling to help you improve, they should be allowed to teach. he said ask questions, but when we did he was annoyed, rarely reexplained a problem. said "review it in your book." this guy is a joke. always unprepared. knows math, not how to teach it.
To sum this up he is not good teacher he sound like he knows his stuff but he doesn't understand that we are not on his level
I had him for a really intense summer calculus class - 4 hours a day, twice a week for 6 weeks or something like that. The material by its nature is not easy, and I really had to work very hard, but he was clear and approachable and has a weird sense of humor... all good things, IMO. I would take a class with him again.
I took a 6-week calculus class with him, and although it was very difficult, It was a fun class. His exams are insanely hard, but he curves them generously. He isn't particularly great at extrapolating meaning from poorly worded questions. His love for the subject matter is such that he tends to lose track of time, but I'd take again.
stay far far away from him!!!! if you get him.. drop him or you will fail. never answers questions.. talks to the white board and is just straight up a weird guy. i spent so much time at the tutoring center and the tests dont cover anything you learn.. they are impossible. arisotle couldnt get an A on them.
This professor is a mathematician and cannot relate to the average student. He asks for questions and ridcules you for asking them. He teaches beyond what the curriculm requires and expects you to understand it. The tests do not come from the textbook or the supplementary problems you are required to do. Do not by any means take this professor.
Covered all material. Fast paced and tough...but fair. Does not mention on syllabus that he drops lowest exam score, so is actually "nicer" than he at first appears. Lots of Q&A in class about homework. Overall pretty good.
i gotta say i thought i was a goner, like maybe D or F, but can't believe it: a C+! so i think he grades easier than he lets on? nothing else to say
Started out real hard but actually got easier over time! Kinda funny really, so stick it out because there's always that 30 pt curve! AND ASK QUESTIONS!!!!
I dunno he can be maybe not always seemingly very approachable but thats really just quirkiness.Seems to be clear and overall fair. I'd recommend.
Its great that prof Erikson knows what he is talking about, but how about the class that he is suppose to be teaching? He is extremely unclear on topics and jumps around quite often. I have to teach myself by the syllabus to do good on the tests. IF you take him ignore what he says because he will only confused you more. No mandatory hw though.
gave exams back today and got a B... thought it would be D, so I think it is fair. then he said he drops lowest grade so if you take him stick it out...he just takes getting used to
I can honestly say I like this guy's style, and he's funny to boot. Allows make-ups for good cause and doesn't make attendance mandatory, which is great because I have a full-time job and sometimes it gets in the way.
Thought Math Concepts 1 would be easy - I was as dead wrong as bad as Biggie when he got shot dead. Anyway, Erikson expects you to remember all of the formulas to complete the stupid problems. I can't remember all of the problems! It's not me, half the class dropped out. Do not take him. He won't help you.
Erikson comes off bit intimidating at 1st & might scare you for a few classes into semester, but he lightens up. I had good experience with his class and would recommend because he's flexible. Very helpful if you askquestions especially.
Really okay, and very approachable. Stays mostly on track. He also does not count attendance or homework and he will drop the lowest test grade. I would take him again.
He knows math, but when he doesn't bother to learn anyones name, makes stupid math jokes, writes with 20 different colors(with both hands btw) and only teaches one problem for a whole lesson and section of a book then you are gonna fail. DONT TAKE HIM!!
STAY AWAY. I have him for a 6 week intensive course. He makes you feel stupid for asking questions and he only spits back what the textbook already says rather than trying to teach an easier way to understand. I'm just taking this to fulfill a math credit, he teaches it for the student that wants to continue in math. Guess Ill be taking calc again.
I thought he was okay. Although I could do without his lame jokes. He's quite approachable and will answer questions. Sometimes he can ramble on and I had to try hard to stay awake. Overall he's good and I would take his class again
Hands down the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. His tests are impossible, and class is pointless, because he can't teach. If you plan on passing calc don't take him.
worst teacher ever! do not take him. knows how to do math but not teach it. basically taught myself all of the material because he didnt.
This man awful. He does show lots of examples in class though. He uses the departments hw sheet but he creates the tests himself so the homework is NOT AT ALL what is on your tests making them impossible to pass. I emailed him telling him I needed to get at least a C what do I do? and he said well do better and that its really not rocket science.
Maybe it's just because I'm an engineering major but I thought he made sense. Sometimes spent nearly entire class working out one problem (and then finding he made small mistake in algebra) - still, he tried to answer every question and has some pretty good notes that seem to take a lot of his time making. The book we were using was kinda crappy
i thought his style was straighforward, for instance lots of problems on his exams come from his old exams and there was plenty of time to get it together without there being surprizes or curveballs. No homework doesn't count exactly but if you don't do it you pay. This is my 2nd course with him and I may take a 3rd (math 250)
My thoughts: direct and sometimes rough on the edges...but not unreasonable. NOT easy but really crazy about subject. Big curves most times, and drops lowest score. More approachable in office. Sometimes gives too much info - but thats better than not enough! DO recommend IF you're motivated.
Worst teacher I have ever had! DO NOT TAKE once a week! Sometimes we do 5 sections in one day. Doesn't check homework. 4 exams that are impossible, but the final is pretty easy. Works from hardest problem to easiest. He knows his math but cant teach!
Worst teacher ever! I tried to ask him a question on my exam after he graded it because i thought he made a mistake and he laughed in my face and told me i obviously didn't know what i was doing, when the only reason i don't know what i'm doing is because he doesn't know how to teach! Don't take him!!!
He is confusing, rude, and a complete waste of any students time and money. He laughs at questions and talks so fast you can't understand him! He misgrades papers and plays favorites. Personally, I have no idea how he has not already been fired. My whole class dislikes or fears him and his classes. If you've signed up, WITHDRAW. RUN FAST AND FAR.
He is absolutely horrible. I honestly don't think he cares about you understanding his material or not. There is no homework or extra credit. Tests are extremely hard. don't take him. you'll be retaking it like i did.
Terrible teacher. Dint explain material well.sometimes he don't even know what he is talking about.I dropped that class because of him,and before I did not had problems with math. Don't take him!I'm surprised why they did not fired him.
If you have to take a math class, take one. But not with this guy, unless you want to screw with all the math you have learned in your life.
Useless. Asked him a question he said read the book and do the problems. Never taking him again.
I took his class online and never had a chance to meet him in person. He doesn't collect homework, so you not obligated to do tons of problems if you don't need to. His exams were very similar to the once he made for his previous classes. They are available on his course website. He CURVES all the tests which is good. Definitely recommend him!
He is very intelligent, but teaches material in a very confusing way. Very intimidating and no one in my class asked any questions. He would look at you like you had 3 heads if you didnt understand what he was saying. I love math but had a hard time in this class. Only good thing is he curves tests
Teacher was extremely UNhelpful. had a meeting with him to go over my tests and didn't give me the time of day to help at all. Very rude! I do not advise him at all!! save yourself and pick a different teacher. I wish I would have looked him up before taking his class!!!
He has a website. On that website: old exams. Seriously, if you study those old exams you are good to go! Usually 80% on an exam is an "A". No one seems to bother looking at his website!
He exams are based from the previous exams posted on his website. if you do homework and previous exams you should easily pass the class. and the homework is not alot. we had 6 exams, he dropped one.
This online course is a rip-off. You teach yourself how to do the problems from the book, solutions manual and his practice tests on his website. Focus on the practice tests, if you want a decent grade. The Solutions Manual is only a little helpful. Be prepared to receive a disrespectful and rude response if you ask him something via email.
Professor Erickson is a mathematician at heart but does have some issues conveying his ideas. Goes through class guided by the notes that he wrote for his own online textbook. His textbook is above the level of most people taking the class. Gave recommended homework problems but much of what was found on the test was from previous practice exams.
super smart guy just not a teacher. I try to follow along with the text book but he just goes off rambling in his "own words" and completely loses me. Everyone in the class talks about how confused they are. If you ask him a question he scratches his head and treats you like you're stupid. No help, no emailing, large curves, no attendance needed.
He is brilliant and has the credentials to prove it. At the same time he's awful at teaching. I have him for Calc II and so far, I have had to teach myself everything. Would not recommend if you struggle with math. If you're stuck with him, form study groups and pray to God you'll pass. Get help outside of class by other students/teachers.
Do not take the online class unless you are prepared to teach yourself. Home work is not factored into grade, not even collected. His notes are dated back a couple years, so he has not contributed anything to taking this course other than sending the exams to the testing center and grading the exams. You must be willing to teach yourself! AVOID
If there were an award for being the WPP, the Worst Possible Professor, Professor Erickson, would be the unanimous winner every year. His lectures are extremely heavy. Many times he'll have students mistake easy concepts for tough ones. He also only grades tests, and the homework assigned is not graded or collected. He doesn't care if you fail.
I took Professor Erikson for College Algebra; he is a very knowledgeable professor, but not a good teacher. The homework assignments are from the textbook, but they are never graded or collected. The lectures are very confusing, and he makes basic concepts harder than need be. I would not take this professor, unless you're ok with teaching yourself
