good teacher--very clear---gives out answers day before the test

A good teacher to take for a good grade. Sometimes he can get behind in his materials. If you pay attention in class and take notes daily, you can get a good grade.

VERY EASY, EASY A you dont even need to read the book, if you study the essay questions which he gives you the day before and you get half the multiple choice correct then you get an A take notes and study them

This class is not that easy if you are not prepared.You must attended all this class for the unexpected quizzes. Must read the material to get the information. Dr. Frantz is fair, and he will help you pass the class. Really enjoyed taking his class.

He's Nice! If you want to pass the class study the essay questions and don't miss the quizes. If you are interested in the class you'll like it if not you won't he doesn' really make it much interesting but he knows his material. Try to take the lab with him too to understand the class better and have a good grade.

He has became one of my favorite professors at LAVC. I took the summer session and got A and I'm not science person. We did alot of extra credit though. His field trips are fun, you can go on your own but better to go with him, learn more this way. He knows his material, take him. I love to take his class again! We had a fun!

I loved this class. He is very funny and adorable. He loves his Dr.Pepper!! I'ts not an easy class but it's also not an easy subject. He makes the class interesting and fun. He is also good looking for an older man, kind of looks like an old James Dean. I highly recommend him!

The greatest Bio Prof around, bar none. Interesting life, great exams, keeps class interesting yet challenging. Fair grader. cares about his students being successful!!

This teacher one of my favorite professors at LAVC. Really loves to teach and help his students achieve their goal in getting a good grade in his class by having the EASIEST quizzes and offers alot of EXTRA CREDIT. Gives you answers to the test. Perfect example of a great teacher.

Frantz is a good professor. He'll quiz you every class, 15 question sheets. The course is basically the book. There's plenty of extra credit. A+ professor.

I love his style. You actually learn a few useful things you can use in life. a fun class. He gives easy tests and helps you a lot to get an A but he makes sure you really learn something too. a complete gentelman. I liked him a lot. One of the best at Valley College.

This is the teacher to take if you want an easy A. He is very boring but nice. There is a lot of extra credit so it is not hard to raise your grade. You will have several field trips that you have to pay for on your own and find your own transportation.

I agree with some comments about him being late and unorganized; however, he is very knowledgableabout the subject and will explain and repeat if any information was confusing. He does offer extra credit to anyone who wishes to raise there grade. The quizes are from the top of his head so always be prepared for the quizes.

Professor Frantz is one of the best instructors u will find at Valley.Though he is easy,inorder to pass his quizzes,tests,and final u need to pay attention to his lecture.His quizzes are worth 15 pts,he always gives away extra credit,4 field trips are mandatory,He will often repeat himself if asked to do so.His quizzes are based on the lecture.

this guy is NOT organized. i liked him because if ur a surfer, snowboarder, etc.. then you can have something to talk to him about. quizzes are easy to cheat on, even on tests, but cheat individually, cuz he sits u randomly. easy to pass, if u kiss ass and if you pay attention. period

If you can self-study and commit to do alot of extra credit assignments, this class is not difficult to pass. Prof. Franz is often late and a bit like the absent-minded professor, but he makes up for it by being a genuinely nice guy. He is always willling to help out a motivated student.

He is a great teacher.Very understanding and helpful. Sometimes he talks about everything besides the topic.But anyway he is the best in biology. Gives you a lot of interesting info and extra creadit,very easy A.Just be nice and show that you're interested in his class,that's all.

cool guy and good teacher to take for biology, took the class over winter and was dredding the long hours of the class. However frantz made it fun and makes the time passes by fast by telling stories and making jokes. He is also a cool guy to talk to and a pretty chill teacher and has vast amount of knowledge on the subject, field trips are fun too

i took marine bio with him and its way easier than biology and it could be credited as biology too. the short tests are really easy, he almost tells us the answers the class before. and the long tests are looong but he gives a reviewer that already has everything in it. he's pretty clear and straight to the point. he knows what he's talking about!

Proff. Frantz is one of the best bio teachers i ever took. His class is easy and you'll do fine.

He's really easy if you study real hard. Even if you slack off a little, there's plenty of opportunity to make it up. I got all B's on my exams, but i got a final grade of A. But if you wanna learn something, I suggest take a different professor.

He is the best professor ever. Listen to me people. you can do 2 classes at the same time with him. Just be on time because he always is and listen to him carefully.He explains everything.I love this professor really. I did learn alot in his class. grades very fair. Just don't give up. This guy knows his stuff and explains everything in a fun way. Lots of studying and field trips you *have* to do. He has a good humor and he will give u Power Point notes (bring ur thumb drive). Take him if you can - he is THE biology prof. Books can be old editions, labs are easy! Tests are hard, but u can make your own essays! Take him!

Great class. The first test is really hard, and the other two are not so bad if you study the handouts. He gives steady guides for every test. Gives 3 tests, two practums and one final Gives essay questions on test in advance. nice guy

Great professor. Really easy and helpfull. Just do his field trip papers and ok on the tets and you will get at least a B in his class. He also gives quizess but before he gives his quizzes he goes over them. Take notes and you will have the answers right in front of you

do not buy the text book! practice tests just like the regular. some field trips. lots of easy quizzes. usually always late to class.. fun class. super easy

Biology is a tough subject, but Frantz makes it real easy to get an A. Make sure you do the essays for his exam because they will save your grade. He doesn't like dishonest students and will not hesitate to fail you if you are caught cheating. Keep it honest, study, and you'll pass.

He is always smiling and makes class enjoyable. Let's you out early, and you learn a lot. Great discussions about the environment. Provides study guides and answer sheets after quizzes, so you can check your answers. 4 mandatory field trips, you pay. 3 tests and a good number of easy quizzes. Extra credit opportunities! =D

No getting around it, this is a tough class with lots to read and memorize. Good: he's very smart and organized. Gives great handouts and sample questions. Bad: spends a lot of time on chemical bonds but chemistry is not a prereq for this class so hard to keep up if you haven't had chem yet. Don't even think of cheating he watches like a hawk.

great teacher everyone complained about him but i thought he was great. i learned a lot in the class and didn't even open the textbook his study guides are extremely detailed, so detailed the textbook is a waste. take him!!!

Took him for physio and am so glad I did. Got an A! You do not need the book. His tests are directly from his study guides. Dr. Frantz is one of the best professors that I have ever taken. Do the work and you will be rewarded with a good grade.

I Love Dr.Frantz. I took him for Physiology and he makes a hard subject enjoyable. Hes organized and funny. Don't buy the book just download lecture notes and buy lab book. If you follow his study guides you will get an A. Everyone that took different instructors for physio are regretting it.I wish he taught all the science classes.labs are easy!

his class was easy. he gives you study guide and he review for you before the test. you dont need to buy the txtbook. there are 3 tests. if you do bad on the multiple choice, do the essays. it will help you. :)

Great nstructor. Makes learning fun, subject enjoyable, outstanding trips that get you involved and interested. He's the reason I got into biology, and got my BA in Biology eventually. If I had time, I would go back and take his other classes like Physiology, Marine biology just for fun and knowledge.

He is a really cool teacher. There were a lot of field trips and hands-on learning. Taking notes with him was... well, I could never keep up <don't think anyone was able>. I loved the field trips and he was always willing to talk about marine bio. EXTREMELY simple course and teacher, but not boring! Totally recommend him.

He is the best professor at Valley. He makes biology fun & easy to understand. I was dreading taking Biology before his class & now I find myself interested. He gives quizes relating to the lab, his test are easy because he gives a study guide with answers, & he takes class on really interesting field trips. I recommend everyone to take Dr.Frantz!

It was a very hard class for me but the professor did everything he can to help us get the best grade. Very nice professor. Study the handouts that he gives in class for the quizzes and exams. Save PowerPoint in USB and use the study guide.

This professor is extremely kind and it's obvious to everybody that he loves what he does. The course is not hard at all...it's more of those "easy but you actually learn because you like it" classes. You have a quiz almost every class meeting but they are easy as well and, if anything, help boost your grade (easy A). Thank you, Professor!

Professor Frantz is so down to earth. He's very easy going unlike some of the other anal professors at LAVC. Your grade is an easy A. All you have to do is study the practice tests which look like similar to the tests, and do the coloring book too! Go on the field trips. The class is really interesting! If you disagree then drop out.

Awesome Professor!!! Study the power points (he doesn't post online but give him a USB and he'll upload them to it). Hands out Study sheets which look similar to the actual Test! review it and you'll be fine. He also does extra credit (little road trips, ex. Aquarium of the Pacific, Sea world, San Diego Zoo, and other sites).

Professor Frantz was really great! His lectures were a bit boring and dragged out but the content was very interesting. You can expect a quiz for every class meeting but it's open note, 2 big exams (not including the final, but he gives you a study sheet with the answers), and one practical exam which is open book, note. Field trips are required!

Lecture isn't mandatory but it's helped me learn a lot. Grades are available for discussion before class and during lab hours. Would recommend to anybody that needs this class.

This class is a very easy bio class which applies as a transfer requirement,Bio 3 is full? TAKE THIS CLASS INSTEAD. It is so fun and he gives over 90 points of EC You have to color 15 pages in a coloring book for EC he gives a lot of labs (but they are fun) quiz every class (very easy open book & phone) Final and Midterm same as study guide

This class is very easy to get in A in. He gives you a study guide for every test, there are quizzes in every class but it's open notes and you can use the internet/phone, there are interesting field trips, color a few pages of a coloring book for extra credit and a few labs in which he gives you most of the answers to. Highly recommend!

Was an amazing influence on traveling to Yosemite and both Catalina. Mr. Frantz has an amazing heart and cares about his students. Thank you for making me feel like a part of. I miss California but it got too expensive.

Dr Frantz IS AMAZING. PERIOD. Work hard and you'll get an A. Studying is the key but he gives you awesome study guides which are similar to the test.

Dr. Frantz is the sweetest and most educated man in his field! So many opportunities of extra credit is given, he literally chews up the material and feeds it to the class. If you really need to pass Bio, Take Him !! Best Bio professor out there. Amazing lectures. He gives a quiz every lab but they are easy. He gives a study guide that is very identical to the exams. I enjoyed his class, I just wish he taught more classes and I wish there were more professors like him. Take him while you can, you won't regret it.

Lecture: Hes great and posts all his lectures online, going to be honest he does talk a lot all you have to do is sit and listen or keep up with notes. Only gave 3 exams which he also gave a study guide w. Lab: 1x a week we had a quiz which was open notes (SUPER EASY) and ofc our labs were due every week. Overall great and EASY prof! Trust me!

Quiz every Monday but they are easy and open notes. 3 Exams and study guides are included. Easy homework assignments. Lab was easy and fun as well. He's chill but don't be disrespectful and interrupt him during a lecture. You'll pass the class if you do all the work and study for the exams.

This is the best bio class to take. He posted lectures, powerpoints, labs, and quizes on canvas. If you can't go to class it's not an issue. He gives a week to turn in labs and quizes and they're easy. 3 exams which were open note and he gave an identical study guide for. Just fill out the study guide and you are good. I highly reccomend!

Professor Frantz is very understanding and kind. His lectures were interesting but they are not mandatory and were posted on canvas. There was a lab and a quiz each week which were easy and three exams in total. Everyone can get an A if they put in the effort.

The course is pretty straightforward and easy. The only downside is he doesn't engage with the students, which makes lectures boring.

By far the best bio professor at valley! I recommend taking his class. Really easy class.

Super chill, do the work you'll pass the class that simple, quizzes are open book exams are multiple choice but you do need to study for those alot of material covered in them. He is funny and very understanding would definitely recommend.

Super fast at replying to emails. He literally does this for fun.. so hes not gonna make himself do more work if he doesnt have to. Had weekly quiz's that are open notes, and weekly labs. 3 tests only, "midterm" or final are not about the entire semester, just the recent few chapters. use your sources when it comes to taking the test. iykyk.

My favorite professor at LAVC. He wants all his students to pass and will help them do so. I hate science but got an A because he is a great teacher. Lots of extra credit and drops bad quizzes and labs. If you hate bio or suck at it take his in person class you will not regret it. He also responds very fast to students and is super helpful.

DONT HESITATE TAKE HIS CLASS I PROMISE YOU WONT REGRET IT !! Professor Frantz was really caring with his students, Weekly Lab and Lecture quizzes but they arent too bad (1-10 questions) As long you go through the lectures on canvas you should be fine :)

I took Professor Frantz for Bio003. Very nice and kind Professor towards the students. He is very approachable and good in lectures. I would take him again for another class. I highly recommend him to all students. LAVC lucky to have him. He is also lenient and understands the students. The labs are fun and engaging and you can tell he cares. 10/10

Frantz is a caring professor who wants students to succeed. Weekly quizzes and labs, but manageable. Textbook optional. Use Unstuck AI and other study resources to ace the exams. Overall, a solid bio class.

Dr.Frantz is an amazing professor and clearly loves teaching as he has taught many classes at prestigious institutions such as Stanford. I'm glad that his passion led him to teach biology at LAVC as I was able to take his class through dual enrollment preparing me for my own journey at Cal. The work is very manageable and useful. Not strict at all.

Amazing professor, I am a film major and Biology was not my expertise but professor Frantz helped me along the way and was always open to meeting with me and giving me a second chance. DON'T HESITATE TO TAKE HIS CLASS!
