Golombek is the greatest, cutest, coolest professor I have ever had! He is easy to understand in class, is very helpful with assignments, and has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend him.
Golombek is boring. He gives enough hints about what will be on the tests though. Not an easy A, but little effort to get a B. You will get sick of his "jokes" very quickly.
Great teacher, very good teaching methods. I would recommend him to any student. I wish there were more classes that he taught that I needed to take.

He's an awesome teacher! He makes history interesting even @ 8 a.m. He gives great examples in his lectures & makes it very clear what he wants & is very helpful!! Definitely take a class with him!
This guy is the greatest teacher ever...I never liked history until him
Good teacher who doesn't require a book for his class, so the tests which are essay format are based on the lectures. So if you go to class you'll do fine.
Awesome teacher. He makes history very interesting.
excellent teacher! very very easy class. No textbook required
This guy makes class interesting. Ok, his jokes are not the best, but he tries. He grades really easy. He had us buy four small texts about 30$ total. I spark notes-ed all of the books and got 90's on the quizes on the books, which were not a huge percent of your grade anyways. There was four of them and they are in short essay form. Not Hard.
Extremely nice guy. He is willing to do almost anything to help you out, and cares about the performance of his students. He makes the material so easy to understand, and he makes it actually fun to learn about Western Civilization. However, he talks about religion A LOT, and makes provocative jokes that are sure to make you feel uncomfortable.
One of my Favorite teachers! I loved his jokes! I took three classes with him and did very well. Very interesting and makes the material interesting!
He is an absolute must to take. He is a great teacher that always is having fun in class. He keeps class moving with fun little stories. Easily one of the best teachers I've ever had in my entire life. His tests are easy if you pay attention and do your work. He is a very smart person and is very willing to pass his knowledge on. Take his class!!!!
Awesome class, I had him twice for Western Civ and Russia Orthodoxy. Two of my favorite classes. He is very helpful and I think he is hilarious! I would totally recommend him!
Hes a great teacher. He kept me awake at 8am every MWF with his jokes and little stories. Hes very interesting and i recommend him to everyone
hes a really cool teacher.. you will pass his class it aint hard. i would highly recommend him!!!!
He's an EXCELLENT professor. Very laid back and helps you understand the material. He's extremely interesting. I HATED history literrally until his class. He's the defition of a Great Teacher. I strongly recommend him.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!! Always making jokes. Basically tells you what will be on the test! Gives a couple of novels to read and no text book! AWESOME...I had him for His 116 and History of Poland...best teacher ever...SERIOUSLY!
Terrific teacher! He is so funny, and the time just flies by. Hopefully you are a good note taker, because he talks fast. There isn't a lot of work involved - just read the books and take notes on everything he says, and you'll get an A. He alwys tells us what the test question is beforehand (always short essays). Take his classes!
LOVE HIM!! Honestly one of my most favorite professors in the whole school. I thought the class would be so boring but he teaches in a way that everyone can understand and he's very passionate about his work. Imagine that, a professor who actually cares about students AND knows their content specifically! A++ Definately a must-take!
He is one of the best professors I have ever had! His classes are not only entertaining, but also informative and interesting. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!
Take his classes!! Best teacher ever. not cocky cause he is a city offical real down to earth, and cool. presents material in real life situations so you can understand.
Awesome teacher! Took during summer & for a 2 1/2 hr class the time flew by. He does have a tendency to go off on tangents a lot but usually funny stories so you don't mind. As long as you're there & pay attn it's a great class!
Mr. G. is a very intelligent professor. He knows what he is talking about and teaches in such a way that is easy to understand. You do have to put forth some effort in his class to do well, but it pays off and you learn so much from his class. I was very impressed and STRONGLY recommend you take his class-history or non-history major!
AWESOME!!!
Best teacher ever!!!!! he tells interesting stories. As a history major i can sit in a history class and already know what is being taught, with joe you always learn something knew. His classes are a must!!
Awesome guy. Funny. Really easy. Lectures the whole class. Gives you exam questions (essays) before the exam. Read three books and have 1 quiz on each (you basically can use sparknotes for them to get 100%).
Awesome guy! He always made me laugh during class and kept it interesting. I'm a non history major and all of my history credits and I'm bummed I don't have to take another class because I would definitly take another one of his
What you have read is all true. He is an excellent teacher and a good person. He will make you laugh each and every class, I promise that. Class was fun and interesting at the same time.
One of the best professors I've had to this date. He is absolutely hilarious and at the same time explains why certain events in history were so important. If you take this class at night there are 3 exams (essays done at home) and 3 quizzes on three small books. Do yourself a favor and take his class.
greatest teacher i have ever had. 3 books with about 5 question quiz after. if you need a history credit definitely take his class.
best professor i have ever had. it was a 2 1/2 hour class and it felt like 30mins. very helpful and entertaining. attendance is mandatory but the class is worth it
One of the most funny teachers i ever taken for school. Theres no boring moments in his class, he loves to joke around. There isnt a textbook required, however you do need to get three books for his class. His test are essay questions or short summary very easy. There is no reason to why you shouldnt get a A or B+
He knows his Russian history. Funny, knowledgeable, helpful, and fare. You need a upper elective? Take his course.
Old-school lecture but fantastic at it. Clearly interested in and knowledgeable about material. We had a reading quiz every week (two lowest dropped) so attendance was important but the class was really interesting and enjoyable. Funny guy, great speaker. If you read and attend, a good grade is not difficult. Definitely recommend.
Josephus Primus is the best history professor I have had. He teaches in a VERY objective manner and is incredibly funny if you are relatively cultured, but also has humor for everyone. He assigns good books, and the tests and quizzes are very fair, essay style. TAKE HIM
Class is easy overall. Go to class, take notes. Buying expensive chapter books not needed, just google information about book and you'll get an A, essay questions relatively general and easy. Texting not allowed in class. Allowed 3 absences. Funny guy, but sometimes class can get boring. Overall I would recommend this course and prof
Really easy class, easy A. You dont even have to take notes all you have to do is 3 easy quizzes and 3 in class essays. You can study up on topics for these essays beforehand, because he gives the topics at least a week before the test. Hes really funny and keeps class awake since its a 8:00 am class.
Best and favorite professor I've had at Buffalo State! He is very knowledgable in history, very funny and keeps class interesting at 8:00am. I enjoyed going to every class. 3 quizzes, short answer questions and 3 essays in class. Easy A if you pay attention, show up and try. I definitly reccomend taking his class.
Honestly, I have him right now and he's completely awesome. He's funny and even though the class is from 430-710 he only keeps you til about 615-630. He's so entertaining and very knowledgeable. Textbook is used and readings are semi-long. But honestly, he explains everything and is a great professor. I WILL be taking him again!
Amazing! He is the single best professor that I have had the honor of taking. He is really interested in what he is teaching and he makes you interested as well. He makes many humorous remarks and even at 9 am you will get a kick out of him, DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
He is one of the best professors ever. He is one professor you wouldn't mind spending the full class time with because as much as history bores me, he keeps the class extremely entertaining. You won't be sorry if you take him.
Very funny teacher, enjoyed class every single day. Had to read a couple books and there was a quiz after but it was pretty basic. Never really like history until this class. If I needed another HIS credit I would take his class. Highly recommended!
Great guy, keep class interesting makes you think about the history itself. Very funny guy, and makes you read a couple short novels that aren't that hard to read. I recommend to take history with him even if you don't like history!!
Great teacher; segueing is his thing though. half his class is about his personal experiences. If it was not so early in the morning, attending his class would not be so hard!
He reminds me of stewie from family guy. His sense of humor is so memorizing. Great professor and will definitely keep you awake.
Outstanding and thoughtful Professor who magnificently melds lifetime experiences, relateable experiences and Historical Facts into a wonderful package. Professor Golombek is an animated and quick witted teacher that inspires critical thinking and thoughfulness. It was a real pleasure to take his class.
Excellent professor! Has a great sense of humor that he shares with students. Keeps us wide awake with funny stories. Work not hard at all. Three easy books to read and 3 tests. Final was take home. Best professor I have had, I would recommend Golombek to anyone!
Great teacher!
If you show up to class you will pass. If you try you can get a B or A.
His only policy is you don''t attend class and turn stuff in late then you won''t pass. Take notes and he mentions what are on his tests. You read about 3 books which are so small and easy to comprehend and his final is a piece of cake and you don''t need to buy the textbook. Golombek is hands down the most funny professor I''ve ever had.
Loved his class, kept it simple, quizzes and essays for tests.
Really awesome professor and a joy to take. Makes an 8am class interesting and engaging with stories that will make you laugh, keep it up to date for our time and age while teaching an ancient history class, and no matter how sidetracked those stories may get he can always relate it back to the lesson. would HIGHLY recommend to anyone.
OMG HE IS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i wish he'd teach more material as opposed to telling stories, but so long as i walk away with at least a B, i won't be upset. his sense of humor is definitely appreciated, to say the least.
He is super funny you always listen to see what hes going to say next! He does make a lot of sex jokes but he really knows what he's talking about and i normally hate history but i actually remember what he says.
Professor Golombek is the best! He deserve a 5 rated. it is impossible to fail his class. the only reason for you to fail his class is when you are lazy and not ready for college.
Golombek has his own unique way of teaching & it works! It's a lecture class but he keeps it pretty interesting. I had him at 9AM & his humor kept me up and listening. He has a couple of quizzes on some short books, READ THE BOOKS AND YOU WILL PASS THE QUIZZES. Also, listen to his lectures & take notes and the "tests" (short essays) will be cake.
Golombek is the best teacher Iv'e had at Buff State! Although the class was at 8 am, it was impossible to fall asleep during his lectures. He is extremely funny and his personality makes you want to learn history. There were 3 books you had to read which came with quizzes, as well as 2 Unit tests. As long as you do the work, its an easy A.
I literally love this man, as a professor & as a person. He is hilarious & is very passionate about what he teaches which makes it that much easier to stay interested. I'm sad because he only teaches history because I'd love to have him again.
This class is pretty easy all you have to do show, up by the books, and actually read them he's a good class to take in the morning! He always wide-awake and keeping you on your toes.
Greatest professor, so funny, super easy class, hinders on innapropriate which is why he is so funny
Professor Golombek is one of the best professors I have ever had. Starts your day laughing with inappropriate humor and jokes. Certainly makes lecture entertaining! He does assign 3 books you have to read in which he'll quiz you on, and tests are based entirely on lecture. As long as you attend class, take notes, and do the reading, you'll pass.
easy going, need to go to class to get the better grade.
This class is one of a kind. He really gets you into the history mood. He makes jokes that are funny and keeps you entertained while learning. He assigns three books to read, I only read one of them and got an A for the class. I would definitely recommend Professor Golombek.
Professor Golombek has been one of the best educators that I have had. His lectures rarely have a dull moment, and he always finds a way to relate a topic to present day events. He tries to relate with the students and actually gets to know them, this to me is one of his more amazing qualities. Assigns short essays, book reviews, and essay exams.
Joseph is a very passionate Professor that tries to make his lectures interesting. He succeeds through good reading and cheesy jokes. He is a very easy grader and tries to find credit everywhere. Just as a warning please do not take his class if you are easily offended because his humor is crude. Great experience, definitely would recommend.
Professor Golombek is great. You learn a lot from his lecture, they do tend to drag but he tries to make it fun by telling stories and jokes and showing videos. Also make sure to do your book report early on in the semester.
This professor is very funny, I recommend him if you require a history class but don't like history. His class is not serious, everyone gets an A. You barely learn anything, but I recommend buying the books anyway because that's all you're really graded on. He talks a lot and I feel like I waste my time going to class because it's not serious.
He's really funny and his class is super easy. Having an 8am class sucks but when its him i dont mind coming... his humor could be taken the wrong way by others however nonetheless his class is super doable. 3 books you have to "read" and a quiz for each book with like 5 questions. Then 3 essays from 2 topics he gives that you can pick from.
BEST PROFESSOR
Professor Golombek is an Excellent Professor! His lectures are full of knowledge and likes to joke around. You are graded by a couple of essays and quizzes throughout the semester. This class is not hard, but, be sure you are in class everyday!!
Professor Golombek is a wonderful educator! He knows all of his stuff when it comes to him teaching. He is also very funny. He doesn't have many assignments, but he is a very fair grader and works with you. Definitely would recommend his class to anyone!
There was only three essays all semester but for each essay you have to read a book. The first one was boring, but got through it. The other two were so old style and boring it was hard to concentrate. But if you try you'll pass. He's an easy grader and a really funny Professor. I would take him again.
He was really cool , pretty funny, he made it as interesting as he could , had a couple of essay exams and quizzes but thats about it . I would definitely recommend him
Professor Golombek is a great professor. The class is just lectures with no textbook. The lectures are not on powerpoint, so missing a class is not a great idea. The class consists of doing 15 hours of outside Buffalo visitations meaning visiting Buffalo landmarks and writing papers that are as long as your visit. There is only a final essay.
Professor Golombek is by far the best teacher I have ever taken. His classes are really engaging, interesting and enjoyable. I really like how he is able to talk about history and relate it to his students. Best of all, his lectures are hilarious. It is very important to read the assigned books in order to do well. Highly, highly recommended!
I hate morning classes, but Ive never felt so eager to go any class like his. I learned more about history than any other class and enjoyed it. I don't understand how students can talk so badly about him, clearly, they dont know how bad some prof. are. Hell make you laugh and learn at the same time, what more could you ask for. books were cheap.
A professor unlike most, he cares and makes class enjoyable. He knows a lot and feels more like a friend than a professor and that is one of his best traits. Class is hilarious and made me learn a lot just from listening alone. If you do not take a class with him you will miss out, highly recommended. Na Zdrowie.
He's got an interesting sense of humor, borderline inappropriate so if you get offended easily don't take this class. He's a good professor who allows you to turn in your papers whenever you want, and is an easy grader. He always has some story to tell that doesn't apply to the lecture, but they're funny to listen to.
By far one of my favorite professors this semester. Professor Golombek's hilarious lectures and great teaching provide a worthwhile, informative experience. Make sure to come to class - but if you enjoy history, politics, and Family Guy jokes, Golombek is your guy.
He has a sense of humor some might not like, but he relates everything well to material. Id take his classes again in a heartbeat.
Golombek is an intelligent, hilarious, personable professor. If you love history (or want an easy A-B), take Golombek. Attendance is heavy, as he penalizes you typically half a letter grade (fall from A to A-) if you miss 3+ classes. But strict attendance personality aside, Golombek is one of Buffalo State's best.
This is an absolutely fantastic professor. Great sense of humor, and does a great job of keeping all of his lectures as engaging as popular. The only real problem I have is that he takes his attendance very seriously, and this can be an issue for frequent skippers. Overall I just love him as a professor, very easy and fun class.
Loved his class. He was genuinely entertaining with the subject. He kept everyone interested and didn't give too many assignments. I would highly recommend taking his class
I feel like this guy would be good if it wasn't online. His lectures were just a black screen with a timer right in the middle. He is funny and likes to make jokes, and his tests are pretty much just off the lectures. His lectures are hard to focus on b/c its just a black screen. Plus his voice gives me Businessman Kermit the Frog vibes.
There are many many lectures to listen to, so getting behind will be tedious to catch back up. Aside from that the work is easy and he is very kind and will help you pass. He is supportive and very intelligent! Great Professor highly recommend.
One of the best professor I had while at Buffalo State! Clear grading criteria and is straight forward with the course content. Very engaging with the students and makes you want to learn. Very fair and reasonable grader. No reason at all to fail this class unless you fall behind with the content. Very respectable man!
Gives clear grading criteria and helpful feedback. Clearly passionate about what he teaches.
got lucky bc exams and quizzes were online- so anyone else make sure to read. he gives the answers to exams and quizzes in class tho so show up. He's a lecturer not a ppt person, you have to show up. He's funny though you'll be fine. Need to get 2 books but the pdf works fine, so no money spent.
Amazing professor, you need 3 books but you can get around it with google and Ai for the papers. he only assigned papers based on the book and no tests and no quizzes so it was easy. he doesn't really grade attendance so don't worry, the class was about a 1.5-2 page paper a month and that was it. VERY VERY EASY class/easy grader. 100% recommend
Professor Golombek is a fun, engaging lecturer who makes history more interesting. While the workload can be heavy, his fair grading and helpful study resources like Unstuck AI make this class manageable. Definitely take if you want to learn and have a good time.
Professor Golombek is awesome. I took this class to cover my western civ requirement, and his class far exceeded my expectations. I found myself very engaged in what he had to say. He makes his lectures fun. Assignments are super easy and if you even moderately pay attention, you'll do fine. Would definitely take another class with him.
Professor Golombek is an extremely knowledgeable and passionate professor when it comes to any of the numerous topics he teaches. He prefers to give lectures as opposed to reading from a PowerPoint, but he does sometimes go off on anecdotal tangents, albeit they usually wrap into whatever he is teaching. If you show up and take notes your gravy.
He makes his lectures interesting by using his life stories and jokes, which makes them enjoyable to listen to. He doesn't care if you show up or not, but in the end he will grade you based on how many times you attended The assignments are ok just a couple of history essays and questions to answer I would definitely take him again. Thanks, Joseph!
