Nice guy, common sense class. His sense of humor makes class fun.
Very nice guy!
Great Teacher, Great Guy
He is a great teacher. You've got questions? He's got answers!
He is very down to earth and easy to talk to. He is also makes class fun while.
Great professor, very friendly, makes biology fun with his humor.
Very nice guy, down to earth. Easy if you pay attention.
Great guy! Puts extra effort into getting to know everyone in the class.
Always willing to help. Nice guy and good teacher.
Nice guy but confusing prof. understanding but doesn't prepare you for tests
He knows his ..and with no middle finger you won't know if he doesn't like ya!
If you read the book and have fun in class it's terrific!!!
GREAT GUY! Excellent at lectures, makes you work for your grade :)
good class to take
Great teacher to have. Makes class fun with his jokes.
Good prof...humerous, makes class fun and lectures interesting
Great guy! Doesnt prepare enough for tests, but this is college...take the class
awesome teacher & a lot of fun & makes lectures interesting... TAKE THIS CLASS!
He is a very funny guy. His tests are tricky, but a cool prof!!
Best science prof. I've had at GVSU. He can actually relate to students.
Best science prof I've EVER had.
way cool guy! just love him!.
One of the best profs @GVSU. Tests are not easy, but manageable
good prof, loves teaching
Joe was the best. I'd take Bio over again just to have him as a prof!
Best prof I've had at GVSU, class is interesting and not hard if you go
Class was fun...great guy...made you want to be there.

awesome prof., very funny and keeps you intrested
I love this guy...even though I had him last year he is always willing to talk..
very nice to look at, but kinda unclear about exams...all in all good prof!
Great guy, loves to teach and is interesting, his exams are a unclear & tricky!
Joe + cane toads = Best BIO Class... seriously he is the man!! makes bio fun!-ab
great guy, if he cant answer a question he will find it out
Very entertaining class. Fair teacher, no homework, easy exams. Take him!
REAlly nice prof!!! clear and easy!
Joe is the best. Very helpful outside of class.
fun and easy
Joe is by far the best prof. for lectures, dont be fooled, you will fail exams
it was a cool class, but he is very unapproachable
Good Prof. really nice GUY!!!!!!
Great prof. loved his class, easy to pay attention and follow
Great guy-prepared us for tests, but make sure to remember the little things too
nicest guy ever - his tests are challanging, lectures tend to be disorganized
cane toad video=great ! Tests can be tricky, but multiple choice, so theyre fair
For the most part good class, learned lots of useful things, test are tricky
His notes will drive you crazy, tests are pretty tricky, but he's a nice guy
lectures are very confusing, and a VERY tough grader!
Awesome Prof....tests a bit tricky, know all material well!
Great teacher. He knows his stuff. Be prepared for application of the material!
BOO! Horrid!
Nice guy. Knows his stuff. Exams are really really hard. Don't be looking for M.C., he likes short answer questions. Kept class interesting. Recommended for good educational experience.
likes short answer tests, but grades easy as long as you answer (there's always several answers one could come up with). Makes you think from different angles. Very interesting and informative. Definately one of the best teachers i've had
Doesn't Explain material very well for students who don't know the material yet. Test are hard, all M.C., seems like a really nice guy.
Great prof! I had him at 8am and he made me look forward to the class. Writes big on the board which helps. Tests are MC and are little bit tricky so study. But other than that, he's really cool!
nice guy, jumps around a lot in lecture and has hard tests
He likes to jump around a bit, but will stop if you let him know. His tests definitely make you think so be sure to study. He keeps class interesting though. Good guy.
Great prof. Couldn't have asked for a better person to take capstone with. Made the class fun and very laid back. Tests weren't too bad. Make sure you participate
jumps around a lot, hard tests make sure you study!!
this class is tough if you're not into science. Professor Jacquot sometimes jumps around in lectures and it can get a bit confusing. tests are somewhat difficult, but study and you can pull off a B.
Kinda hard if you don't already know some of the stuff he's talking about. Study, study, it's the only way to survive the really hard tests. He's a nice guy, keeps class interesting and funny.
Lectures were informative but dont expect anything in them to be on any exam. Dont take him if you dont have to.
Take the Florida trip! Awsome class. I learned so much, met some cool people, and got a tan in Florida while getting credits at the same time. I would do it again in a second. Joe is a great professor.
So confusing, I thought I was in the wrong class. He was completley unclear and didn't stay on track. He goes off on tangents and completly lost me. Take Trier, he's awsome and teaches the subject well.
Joe is one of my proffesors and he is also my advisor. Hes a great communicator and he is very involved with the subject matter that he teaches. You can tell that he loves what he does through his attitude. Treats all students with respect and is a genuinely friendly person. Great!
I had him for 121 but you could def tell he doesn't normally teach this class; he mainly teaches upper level (mammology). Your grade is based strictly on the exams & final. He words his questions bad and its frustrating! He's a good guy, keeps it interesting...but don't take hime for an intro level bio class...take trier!!!
he got stuck teaching our human sexuality class when our professor got mono. he made way more sense than our first professor did, and is really great at getting the class thinking and therefore willing to speak. i'd recommend him.
i took a bird class w/ him. great class!
Take him for capstone... he makes it so much easier than everyone else. The presentation is very low-key, compared to other sections. Make sure you keep an eye on the syllabus because he expects you to do things, even if he doesn't necessarily tell you how.
He is really smart and really adorable
Joe is such a cutie! He's very funny and laid back. His exams are really tough, but there was relatively little homework besides reading and 1 page summaries. Class participation is important. Labs were really fun and he's a great guy to enjoy a hike with! He knows a lot and poses a lot of interesting, thought provoking questions!
Joe is an excellent professor! I had him for mammalogoy and again for capstone. He is always fair and clear about his expectations. He is genuinely interested in the subjects he teaches which makes it easy to learn. Doing the assigned readings and participating in class discussions are the best ways to do well.
Nice Guy. Knows Bio. Relaxed atmosphere. Not a great 121 teacher. He's scattered and assumes we know too much. Tests are difficult because you don't know what to study. Class is frustrating but not impossible, figuring out what he is saying is half the battle. If you love bio you'll do fine. If you just need it to fulfill a credit you'll struggle
He knows his stuff, but he goes off on tangents that only make thing more confusing for the student, and his power points have very little information to work from. If you do not take notes in class, you're doomed.
Joe is awesome, took him for Mammalogy and going to for capstone. Pay attention, study, and you'll do great! Very casual, easy going, and helpful. I can see him being harder for a general BIO class since he's an upper level prof so I'd avoid if you're not a BIO student.
Joe is hilarious and very relaxed. He does assume that you know a lot, but is always willing to clarify if you ask. He does not give many exams, and gives no homework, so make sure you're prepared for the exams!
He does not give homework which could be a good thing and a bad thing. The only grades for the class are whatever you get in lab and the exams he has. He teaches this like an upper level class. You must make sure that you are prepared for the exams or else you wont pass the class.
Professor Jacquot was absolutely awesome! He was hilarious, super understanding and really encouraging. He made it a 100% paperless course, the book was online (and free!), all quizzes (short/weekly) and assignments online and the only test we had was the final. As long as you read, you could skip fairly often. I learned a lot and he made it fun!
Joe is a great professor. he is very easy to understand and very easy grader. not many tests in the course however, there are a couple assignments and quizzes. As long as you help him out a little bit, he will help you out a tremendous amount.
Honestly if you have the chance to take any of his classes do it!! He's super funny, lectures were fun, and there weren't any tests. You had a 10 question quiz every week, and the course was paperless. The only test we had was the final and it was online. Would take again!
This profesor was my favorite so far this year. His lectures are very engaing and fun. You have to go to letures if you want to do well. His quizes and exams are very fair, but you have to study to do well. I would highly reccomend him, I hope down the line I can take another class he teaches.
He was a good Prof. Would recommend!
To be honest, I don't know if he was a good professor or not. I never showed up to class because everything was online, including the final exam. I aced all of the assignments, quizzes, and final exam just with my previous knowledge of what it means to recycle. Super easy class and easiest A I've ever received. Would recommend for an easy grade.
He is a great professor. Do all the assignments, quizzes and especially attend all the classes and you can get good grades.
Joe is a phenomenal prof. He is charismatic and has a good sense of humor. Class lectures were engaging and interesting. The lab portion of this class was fricken awesome!!! I would highly recommend you take this class. 10/10
Joe is a great professor! I had him for BIO 121 lab and he was very helpful when we were filling out our lab reports/analyses. He truly cares that his students succeed! As long as you show up to the lab and follow his lead you will do great! P.S. I took this class in a hybrid format. Every other week we were in class, the weeks between were online.
Joe has an amazing personality and I genuinely loved his class. But all he puts in the grade book are test so if you are not a good test taker this class will be difficult. I wish we had more chances to get our grade up. But he is very caring and easily accessible outside of class. Good personality but not the best professor wise. Willing to help.
Joe is a great professor and person overall. He is very knowledgeable on all aspects of Bio and is very passionate about what he teaches. Class is very dependent on exam scores, which are very lecture-heavy. Take his class but be ready for hard exams!
Joe is a super funny guy and even sometimes brought his dogs in class. A huge tip for future students: study and know the material because his tests make up a huge part of your final grade. Not really any other work other than tests. Not a lot of tests, only 3, but they still made you think. Interesting lectures and I honestly enjoyed his class.
I took this class because of all the amazing reviews that Professor Jacquot had but this was by far the hardest class I've taken. While he's a really nice guy I will never take a class with him again. The content in his lectures loosely correlate to his timed 50 minute exams. Once you start to fall behind in understanding all I can say is good luck
Joe is extremely knowledgeable in Biology, but his lectures were tough. He talks the whole time throughout his PowerPoints, and you have to take your own notes and trust yourself that what you are writing down is what is on the exams. There are four exams, and there are only 3-4 other graded items which are monthly discussion posts. Awesome prof
Joe is a super nice guy and is always willing to help but he talks for the whole lecture and doesn't write a lot down. If you are a visual learner he is not for you, if you are an auditory learner, you found your prof. Exams are super hard because the questions are so specific you need to know everything he said in lecture. Exams are online.
Had him for both BIO 121 & BIO 342, lectures were engaging and reading assignments were important to keep up. He is very passionate about teaching, especially in labs. Labs were 4 hours outside looking for birds, and he is excellent at teaching the skills of birding and how to identify them. I will take any class I can with him.
didn't get many assignments so the test were the only thing I was really graded on. doesn't give out much study material, but is willing to help you with anything. overall awesome professor and would take again!
Joe is a great professor to take for biology 121. He is funny and tries his best to make lectures entertaining and engaging. There are very few assignments so getting good grades on the four exams are extremely important. For the few assignments you do, you will receive feedback. Lastly, make sure you review previous exams it will help you out.
I didn't expect much from a 1 credit seminar taken as a filler credit, but ended up loving Joe! He's very funny and caring. AND He brought his dogs to class on the last day!! Immediate win in my book!
He is just not the best at explaining the content. It is also very test heavy for an 100 level class. There were barely any assignments to help boost your grade from the exams. However, his exams are online so do with that what you will.
He was pretty cool, I personally was not a fan of the way he taught or the content but he brought his dogs in on the last week of class so that was super fun
I had Joe for a careers in biology course, and he was absolutely amazing! He's such a funny guy and very down to earth. I haven't met a person who doesn't like him. He's very open and a very chill guy, and I would highly recommend any course with him!
Joe is my favorite professor at GVSU. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches as well as incredibly friendly and down to earth. This class changed my life, literally- I want to be an ornithologist now. His exams are super easy and they're all online. I couldn't recommend him more, the guy is a legend.
I had him for BIO 130 (careers in biology) which is a pretty easy 1 credit course, he's funny and does swear in lecture just FYI, brought in his great danes a few times too cute dogs.
Joe is one of the best professors that I've had here. He is truly passionate about his career and he is a fabulous teacher. He is super easy to talk to and is always available outside of class. And always has research opportunities. he's a very good grader and has clear expectations. Be prepared to study for the ID exams. Also to skin an animal
