I liked him as a teacher, but he was difficult. Tests were very long and hard. I passed this class with an A but I really earned it. Don't be late to class, it will begin to effect your grade.
His style of teaching consists of him wanting to hear himself in a well rehearsed lecture. Teaching style not ethical because you don't get to see what you missed on a test or what it was and each test builds on the next. Not set up for success.
Very Strict on punctuality. His lectures are interesting and well spoken but thats as far as it goes. He does not give back your tests, so don't know what you missed. For every test he adds on, which make his tests, extremely long (two days long).
He expects too much from the students. Expects you to learn everything about Political science. His test are sooo long. Alot of people dropped out after the second test becasue he just expected too much.
He rocks!! What a stallion. If you have a question on a test, just ask him to tell you what you missed and he prints up a little sheet for you. All you complainers just need to study. I wish he taught every subject!! Rock on!!
He expects way too much from students, you recieve stacks and stacks of material to memorize. He is very strict. People drop like flies in that class
This professor belongs in the military not at Fullerton College. I was completely disappointed with his ethics. I do not recommend this professor to anyone.
Great times. Tough, but thorough. Very informative. Willing to answer questions. Just play by his rules and he'll help you out.

If you want an F, take this guy. If you want to be outcasted and sat in the "loser row" (yeh, thats right, he has a special row of seats for all you late birds) for showing up late, take this guy. Trust me, look for another teacher.
Hard tests, but good informative lectures. Reilly likes to give out LOTS of handouts and there hard to keep handle of. Tests are long and hard but the class isnt boring.
A very fun teacher, but you really have to be prepared to work. This class took all my time. HARD tests.
This teacher is good but is very tough he makes you sit in asignn sits and call roll every class period if you miss three class or have 3 tardies he will drop you Don;t take him.

This class was so boring. No assignments, just reading from small text book. Tests are not that bad, but needed 2 scantrons. The hardest part was showing up everyday! All he does it talk! He will make ur life hell if when you miss class. Take this class if you need the credit, if not, don't!
This teacher is very tough. EXTREMELY tough exams. Only a few can get an A. but he is the BEST posc teacher, believe me. If you have a confidence, give it a shot! you'll be impressed for sure.
If you're into having your entire grade based on exams that are extremely hard to pass then this is your guy, if not then find another teacher
i took Reilly a few semesters ago and, although his class was difficult, he is a great teacher and it is deffinatley possibile to succeed in his class. To all you "losers" who complain about his seating policy or his hasseling of late students, SHOW UP TO CLASS, YOU ARE IN COLLEGE NOW KIDS!
He gives no homework... sounds good right... wrong. he gives out 200+ question tests. There is no love for being absent. I am a history buff, it's my major. Most of his info is biased and based on HIS opinion... not real facts. I found his course to be 80% balogna and 20% actual fact.
I hated this class...because of the teacher! He is terrible. He lectures the entire class period and then freaks out when people start to nod off. He's crazy. He requires you to call if your absent. I DON'T recommend this guy at all.
Worst thing I've ever experienced. He rambles off topic, then expects perfect notes, doesn't allow bathroom breaks (you can go, just not come back), has horribly biased opinions, shoot-yourself-in-the-face tests, and as a person, he's something I probably can't write here. Take him if you like the stereotypical hellish class.
Don't complain about his seating chart! He does a seating chart to take attendance. He's never really mad when he scolds late students. He always scolds late students in a funny way to make the class laugh.
Mr. Reilly is the best! He's hard but very entertaining. Be on time and have some fun! He gives major hints on every test and tells you exactly how to study! Also, he goves you points for attendance and NEVER gives homework! I took history with him after the poly sci class just to have him as a teacher again! He's hard, but he's the best!

you learn nothing of importance to political science....it is completly random and full of memorizing.
Attendance does not really make a difference in your grade. Its only 10 percent of your grade. He gives lengthy study guides. Dont complain about seating chart. He does it to take roll. He will iw willing to work with you and help you if you are having attencance issues and make contact with him.
He tells you whats on the test. just make sure you stay awake
This was by far the worst teacher I have ever had. His tests consist of about 260 questions and you need to basically memorize every word he ever says, as well as every word in all 6 books he makes you buy. Not to mention he is a jerk. He and his class completley discouraged me from school. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.

Take notes! The whole time you're there, he talks; telling the stories of "yesteryear". He knows his stuff and gives you great study guides, but you must take lecture notes cause that's where most test answers come from. I really liked him (although most of the class looked bored, lol) and I used to hate history!

He is an excellent lecturer, but that is all he is good at. His tests are EXTREMELY HARD, he will kick you out of class for anything such as being late, not calling in your absence, not giving him your full attention.

i would def take this teacher!! yes i am a history buff but this guy makes history come alive for the students. he only lectures and there's no hw. the perfect class if ur taking a full load already. the only downside is his tests are tricky but he tells u exactly what to study, so ur grade is in ur hands. plus if ur not absent he gives u 100 point

He's crazy, like 30 study guides for the final exam. I couldn't even get straight what I had to study for the tests there is so much, it's confusing. He skips around during lecture. There r 4 books. You can tell he knows his stuff to some degree, but I don't think he is the best teacher, too much memorization. 1/2 the class dropped. Wouldn't recommend.
I found this class relatively easy because the tests were exclusively multiple-choice. While the lectures dragged on at times, one can probably pass the class just by having a good look at the study guides handed out. However, Reilly does not react well to absences or to being interrupted, so it's best to remain quiet for most of his class.
Very interesting class, the lectures did drag on. He is big on attendence and being on time. Not an easy A, Need to study it should be a 5 unit course
He is very very hard!! He goes over so much and you cant remember it all. each test has at least 200 questions. The final has 300 questions and it took most people an hour and half to finish. More then half of the students drop.
OMG this class sucked! You can't miss class more than 2 times max the whole semester or he'll fail you! His tests r LONG! his lectures jump around, my notes were so jumbled because that's how he lectures! I will NOT take him again at any cost!
This class is a real college class (except for the attendance BS). but the Exams are way too long and cover way too much information. 200 question midterm... It's not that the questions are difficult, but just too much info!! only about 30-40% of the exam come from lectures. No curves on the tests, no EC. About 80% of the class has a C+ or lower.
This class is horrible. The tests are over 200 questions long! The lectures jump from different time periods. What teacher marks you off for taking a leak? I wish I went on Ratemyprofessors.com before enrolling in his class.

I loved this class. This is a really college class folks, aka it is hard. But I learned so much! I studied HARD and deserved my B++. It was not easy, and the attendence and late stuff is BS, but it was all worth the stuff I learned. He is a smart guy and passionate about teaching and his subject.
this guys a joke, aren't profesors there to help students. i'm not looking for anyone to hold my hand but this guy needs to go take a long walk off a short pier. should not be a teacher, should focus on finding a life that he actually likes. Loser
I entered this PoliSci class hoping I could get an onbjective teacher... man was I wrong. He stands on his soapbox and preaches to the choir his beliefs. I went out to blow my nose for less then a minute and he told me I was gone the entire class! If you want a teacher that's fairminded and good at teaching, not preaching, this is not your guy.
Take the online class. Read the book, take a test. That's it. No writing, no listening to this blowhard talk, no crazy tardy policy. There's no interaction with the professor. From reading these posts that's a huge improvement
I love this guy. he is incredibly intelligent, and very interesting to listen to. Although he requires us to buy a lot of books, they are very cheap and help immensely with the exams. He is definitely a character, and it is not easy to get an A, but he is one of the most brilliant teachers I have had so I definitely recommend him.
If you are lazy do not take this class. If you want to learn something, he is among the best instructors I have ever had. Don't be late, no cell phones, don't sleep and DON'T BE LATE, he makes it very clear. Boo Hoo to those who complain. Be on time, read his very clear notes and you'll get an A. He's hard, but worth every second.

An A/B student and was given a D in this class. Grades consisted of only four tests, 3 of which were given in the last 4 weeks of the semester and though MANY study guides were given to assist in taking the tests they were far too broad. He's very particular, no chances to redeem yourself. Like PoSc, just not this class.
This is not a powderpuff online class. Your entire grade comes from 4 tests each worth 100 points. You have 60 minutes to take each test. He helps you out by giving you a useful and comprehensive study guide for each exam. Do the reading and study HARD because it only takes one test to severely hurt your grade. A tough but great teacher. Got an A.

He is a horrible teacher. He likes to embarrass students. He sets rules and breaks them for certain students. Doesn't let you see your test to see what you got wrong EVER. I overheard him telling another student that if he likes you he has the power to boost your grade at the end of the semester, and if he doesn't then oh well. Worst Teacher ever.
He was very hard. If you don't like to read a lot then this isn't the class for you. Just like the other people said, no study, no pass. He isn't very clear on what to read and what to study on. If you love this subject then take his class...if not, don't.
Took the online class. It was very difficult especialy because he had poor communication with students, well at least with me. Grade consists of 4 exams in 5 weeks. I could never get in touch with him when I had a question. Don't take the online class. Find a class on campus so you can actually be taught the subject.

If you know the material you should have no problem getting an A in the class. I wouldn't call him a difficult teacher, since the class is based only on tests, he expects you to keep up with your work. And if he knows you're trying, he will bump your grade.

Reilly is difficult and can be quite frustrating, but he is a GOOD teacher. He lectures every class but also provides many handouts and a ton of explanation on the information. You have to study and you have to take notes in class, but if you keep up with that you will do well. I would take any class that he teaches!
This class is HARD. The first 3 tests are on the same thing, just more detailed each exam. He wants you to "absorb" the info. He is strict but intelligent in a street smart kind of way. Not personal with his students but organized.MAKE FLASH CARDS AS YOU GET THE INFO.SHOW UP EVERYDAY.USE THE GUIDES.Prioritize what you study..you cant hit everything
Tests are quite difficult. Make sure to read EVERYTHING and listen to his lectures. I myself even had to buy a recorder to record his lectures! i managed to get a C. Nobody got A's on the last few tests when i took the class, so that goes to show how difficult his class might be. Very good teacher tho! i learned a lot!! :)

Dropped me because I was absent due to an emergency, despite having someone let him know I'd be out and calling him to explain the emergency personally (the wheel had come off of my car). Overall, DECEPTIVELY easy class. No homework other than reading, but tests worth 100% of grade. Lectures were just about worthless. Funny, but not worth it!!!

Good professor as far as knowing his subject. you can tell he loves history. strict on punctuality and absences. sit near the front so he can yell at you when you start to fall asleep. he passes out notes all you need to study for tests. no homework, all of grade depends on test. would only take if you are a history major. same for POSC 100.
First test 135 questions, Second test 200 questions, Final 200 questions. Hes a very difficult teacher when it comes to the test because alot of the worksheets that he hands out is very contradicting and confusing. He expects you know everything for the test from book and paperwork. DIFFICULT CLASS and he purposely confuses you on test.

He is nice if you are respectful to him and if you have good attendence. Just go to EVERY CLASS and you will be on his good side. Make sure you keep up with all of the reading. There is tons of material, physically impossible to memorize it all if you wait until the last minute...
Wow, he is one of the worst teachers ever. He gives his opinion on todays issues but they never show up on exams. You have to go to class because he has a seat chart and if you are late he mocks you. The exams were difficult only because he is inept at teaching. One of those teachers were this class makes him feel like god for 50 mins...Run!

Nearly impossible to get things cleared up alot of his opinions contradict what the books says. Alot of material to go over! Class isnt worth the time and effort when he is trying to trick you on his test! Hes an old timer, I learned alot yet i still ended up with a D- that was the class average. Dont waste your time take another professor.
I took his class last semester and got the first and only "D" I have ever recieved. This guy is living in his own little world. He acts like, and thinks he is a professor at Harvard or something! Test are impossible and they count for 100% of your grade!! I had an excrutiating kidney infection and he wouldn't let me go to the bathroom! Nut Job!

DO NOT take this professor's online class. I didn't log in for a weekend (2 days), and he locked me out of the discussion board the day before the test. Online classes are for people who work, have children, want to do the class on their own time. He is not cooperative at all. You are better off taking this class on campus.
He is a jerk! Super strict, hates late people, hates sleepers, hates EVERYONE! He is pretty funny when he gets mad at someone though. His lectures are INSANELY boring and they don't make sense. Worst teacher I've had. All the grading is on tests/final and attendance. Will drop students if you're late to class a few times, and even made a girl cry. His tests are all based on trivial questions about political history that doesn't get at does the student comprehend an idea. Take another teacher if you want to learn and pass the class.
I enjoy his class. He is extremely well learned on his subject(POSC.) I was worried about taking political science, because it sounded very boring. He makes it interesting and conveys the information clearly. Just be on time, take notes and you'll do fine. PS-It is a college class. Don't cry or fall apart if your teacher expects quality from you!
I took his online course and it's the same exact format as the other political science teacher that uses PAGEOUT. They even talk the same way...I'm starting to wonder if they are the same person. His answers to your questions are so cold. He was like "give me a break" when a student asked for an answer. It wasn't even a test!
I took the online class and its awful! How can someone seem rude just from reading his lectures?? Tests are impossible and that is the only thing you are graded on. The study guides? RIDICULOUSLY huge with "added guides and lectures". Trust me even if you do study good luck on the test!

Do not take him if you want to learn. If you want to laugh, go ahead and take him. If trivial facts amuse you, take him. If you want to see a grumpy and ineffective poli sci teacher, take him. If you are a big fan of California politics, take him. If you want to succeed in life, do NOT take this class.
He has absolutely ridiculous, strict rules. He requires you to log on 5 days a week a read each and every post he puts up on the site for atleast 10 minutes. Mind you, he posts a LOT of stuff, so that's like a required hour a day for 5 days a week. He will DROP you if you don't log on for 5 days a week.
A pretty good teacher. He expects his students to be attentive and mature and not be late to class. Your grade is dependent on solely tests, which are not very hard given that you pay attention in class and study a little.Just don't be stupid and show up to class on time.
All this class is, is him rambling on and on and on about what seems to be 60% his opinion about politics, and 40% class curriculum. Dropped that class before the end of the semester. Definitely wouldn't recommend taking him.
Basically ,tests make the grade, he usually curves the score , few extra points, but you HAVE TO ATTEND CLASS, its mandatory. He told us what to study , was a lot of stuff though, but i managed, didn't try hard though.. just remember to study of course!
He keeps attendance, a late sign in sheet, and a seating chart all semester. You MUST show up otherwise he drops you. His study guides are USEFUL they tell you what will be on the test. A 'Passing Knowledge" of everything on the guides will get you a good grade. His test questions can come from anything on those guides so STUDY!!! Has great stories
Super strict about attendance. He makes a ridiculous seating chart that he changes on a weekly basis. His lectures are completely irrelevant to everything on the tests. He does give useful handouts but attendance is unfortunately mandatory but pointless because he doesnt lecture about anything useful. Not an easy class. Wouldn't recommend the prof.
I personally think he is a great teacher. If you attend the class & pay attention to what is relevant to the class you should do just fine. His classes are for students who take their education seriously. If you expect an easy A dont take this class you'll be wasting your money. His handouts prior to the tests are extremely helpful!
Unless Political Science is your life, do not take this class! If you aren't interested in POSC then you are most likely going to fail this class.
He likes to rattle on about random things, but he has a lot of valuable stories and he basically gives you the test with study guides and such. he will never expect you to know something that isn't on the guides or that he hasn't already told you you need to know. he can be pretty funny, I just wish he allowed for more discussion and student input.
One of the worst professors I have had. Doesn't teach, but rather re-reads everything that was assigned to you to read from both his study guides and the book. He talks about his opinions more than he teaches on some days and will go off on unrelated tangents for far too long. Completely unwilling to work with students as well; needs to retire!

This is not an easy class at all. If you are prone to procrastinate and are lazy, do not take this class! I personally loved his class, i showed up on time and put extra effort in studying his lectures, as well as the guides he provided. I passed with an A
Not an easy class. The class is based off of three test each 100 point. Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. If you do take this class just be sure to go to every class meeting, you'll be thankful for it in the end. He can go off subject sometimes, but it all relates back the exams. Just pay attention and STUDY!!!!!
I took this class online and couldn't be happier. There are no papers or HW assignments for this class, you just have to take tests based on the reading from the textbook. He gives you a study guide which you have to complete yourself but is identical to the test. Tests are 100 questions in 1hr but as long as you read the chapters you will do well.
I don't understand all the hate for Riley here. He's a pretty good professor overall. He was very clear on what questions were going to be on the test and told you exactly everything you needed to know. The books for the class are pretty cheap and necessary so I would get them. He's strict with phones and attendances though.

He LITERALLY 29 e-mails before the semester even started. I recommend you read them. He is very clear about his standards, but he really comes off as a jerk and unapproachable. Take this class at your own risk. Every test is worth 25% of your grade. He provides a lot of information in the books (there's 4) so i suggest you get them. Tests are hard.
Very strict professor. No phones, no tardiness, no talking,no food, no sleeping. Pay attention to his lectures and take good notes. 3-4 exams makes up your grade I am selling his supplemental packet for cheap on amazon a raaachel32
He's an amazing teacher. Very intelligent. I don't understand why so many dropped, he gives half of the test questions out to help us prepare for tests. Cares about his students and assures everyone will pass with a C or better. I've learned so much from this class!
Took the online course and as aforementioned he sends a surplus of redundant and condescending emails. I imagine in order to curb cheating he times the tests. 4 tests total, 100 questions each, each test timed 60 minutes. As a slow test taker I did not do well even though I read the chapters and completed the guides. Very difficult questions. Avoid
Attendance is mandatory, there's a sign-in sheet that gets passed around. I missed like 6 times, wasn't a problem. He starts getting annoyed if you miss frequently, are tardy, are on your phone, and talking. There's 3 tests, the last one is a final. All he does is lecture, sometimes he goes off topic but it makes class interesting. Easy A.
Ok I honestly don't know why people complain about his class. Yes you have to show up to class and he is very strict on attendance but I mean you are going to school. He basically gives you the answers to his tests and all the answers are online. YOU CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT THE TEXTBOOK DON'T BUY. He does also go off topic sometimes but its not bad.
Took the online class, it's not too hard if you do all the study guides he gives you, but only a handful will be on the actually test. Especially with 60 min and 100 questions you better prepare, and make sure to have a good connection cuz any issues can screw you over. 4 tests 25% each of the total grade.
Terrible class. He spends 20 min berating late/absent students, 50 min talking about the election, then 10 min on actual class content. He would not shut up about the election, hardly ever taught anything that would be on the tests. Instead, he gave mock tests with all of the test questions. Expects you to google answers. Not worth it. Don't take.
Nice professor at best. Scolds too many students for being late to his class, which eats up too much time from ACTUAL lecture. Will go off on a tangent often and is easily distracted. DOES give lots of handouts and mock tests to study from which is very helpful (the mock tests). Handouts probably useful, but not used. Needs to manage time better.
Lecture heavy is an understatement. If you are late he will stop class and talk about it for 20 minutes. Do. Not. Take. I had the misfortune to take this class during the big election and it was ALL he talked about (and he contradicted himself A LOT). 5% of what he talks about is on the actual tests.
Do not Take! Grade based on 3 tests and all the work is on your own. He does not go over the material at all. Tests are very difficult but he gives you majority of the questions before hand.
Took him for an online class and before the semester started, I already got 13 emails from him! All his email subjects are titled like click-bait. I got 13 more emails from him during the first week. All his emails are too lengthy and does not get to the point. Long story short: I dropped. Prof too demanding. Course is too time consuming.

Forces you to purchase 3 of his own written textbooks to study in order to complete the class. I received 2 emails a day of repetitive reminders to do the coursework or else you would not pass, along with relative emails like this, "As I have said in my instructions, do not e-mail your professor asking about particular questions". Terrible and rude
Do not take. He doesn't teach and your grade is based off four impossible to complete test. On my final, I had a glitch and was kicked off the test, after emailing him well before the due date, The only response I got was "Improper identification." Even though I used my full name and student ID and sent the email in response to one of his.
Exams are impossible, he says the guides contain questions straight from the test, they don't. He emails you 3 times a day, every day, often repeating himself 10 times over. Makes you buy a book of the syllabus, basically dictating what you should be doing every day but then emails it to you anyway. Caused me a nervous breakdown DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
NEEDS TO RETIRE! all of his material is from the 1970's literally. If no other professor is available just take it next semester. I took him at the worse time because he's a trump supporter.
One of the most unlikable people I've ever encountered, even just through email. However, this class is actually really simple if you follow his instructions and are a fast test-taker. Fill out the practice tests as you read the textbook. 95% of test questions come from the practice tests & factoid sheets. Not an easy A, but a straightforward A.
This class was taken online, was the hardest 100 class I have ever taken. He is very rude, when students ask questions in regards about class he pretty much puts them on blast. He requires three books and all are NEEDED!!! Tests are very difficult and readings are very heavy.
He is really a stickler on attendance, but once you get passed that, hes not the worst. He is really clear on what ticks him off, so if you are habitually late, dont take this class. Only took 2 tests the whole semester and with no homework. If you get at least 40% on the tests and show up everyday you can pass with a C.
Received an average of 3-5 emails a night (at midnight). Usually of him repeating what is already in the "Super Syllabus". The emails start with "print this out NOW for reference" yet provides it in the syllabus that we were required to purchase. Then sends "courtesy copies" of what is in the syllabus. MICRO MANAGER personality.
Complete idiot, absolutely does not ever take contrary questions or thoughts about what he teaches even if he's wrong- easy to pass as what he talks about has nothing to do with whats in the book.
Honestly its a class that requires a lot of attention if youre trying for an A or B. Make sure you read the CC its the most helpful resource of this class. Also his test is 1hr and 100 questions, so each question is 36 seconds, STUDY!
Easiest class EVER. He allowed 10+ absences, and as long as you showed up you got at least a C on your exam. Only graded on two major tests of 100 questions each; despite this, his lectures have nothing to do with the tests. If you get the textbooks and stay home from class half the time, you'll pass with an A no problem. Entertaining though!
Easy A. If you don't want to do any work or show up to class, take him. 2 exams, 100 questions and he helps you. If you are late just don't show up, it really bothers him when people interrupt. No need to buy books, key to passing is the papers he passes out during class. Lectures don't matter unless hes starts to give answers to the "quiz" papers.
This class is a nightmare. The man seems like a good guy, but as a teacher I want to rip my hair out. He is constantly talking about something else, and while it's technically related to what we're learning, it's not what we're learning. He'll get stuck on one thing, then talk about it for the rest of class. If you can, avoid taking him.
This professor is pretty funny. He about 75 and has alot of oppinions and storys!! He lectures off topic but no harm done if you study the Mock tests and other handouts. One midterm 100 questions. One final. 200 questions. Study and memorize the information on the handouts and you will pass. Dont be late ! Easy A!!!!!
I respect that he would rather us know what is happening now in the political world, and due to that, he rants about whats going on. That being said, I have spoken with him personally, and that is why he is a light grader. I dont think giving out "C"s is very helpful, but I understand. Do not take if you expect a normal lecture. I like him.
Professor Reilly enjoys what he does, he is very knowledgeable of politics and history. As long as you try on the exams you will pass the class. You are only graded by a Mid-term and a final and for those you must study the mock tests he hands about because they are very helpful. Overall good professor.
WORST online class! You think wow no homework sign me up, WRONG! Your entire grade relies on the midterm and final. He doesn't do zoom, lectures, slideshows or anything remotely interactive. You're told read 2 books, take 2 tests that's it. He gives practice quizzes & doesn't grade them, you only have your peers to rely on. I taught myself for $138
He doesnt give any assignments, extra credit opport., no lectures or pwrpoints, etc. The class is solely based on your midterm and final, not even at least participation! All there is is a LOT of reading and 2 tests. I had to withdraw because 1 hr for 100 questions was not enough, so I failed the midterm and theres no room for improvement
This Professor is by far the worst I have ever seen at Fullerton college, He is by far a nightmare to have, he is rude in the emails when you bring up the fact that his 60 min for 100 questions is not manageable, and your whole grade relies on 2 exams, that's it, there are no powerpoints, not lectures simply reading assignment which makes no sense.
Professor Reilly made POSC 100 class really interesting and easy to understand. He is so helpful, caring and dedicated professor at FC.
Your grade relies on only the midterm and the final. They are both graded heavily on a curve but the test are difficult. He provides study guides for every chapter and the test is made up of only questions from these. If you take his class make sure you complete the study guides and do them in a timely manner. You are on your own in this class.
