Great guy!
What an awesome guy. Even if he does look a little like Bill O'Reilly.
This is one terrific and caring teacher. He makes learning about education so interesting. He also helps to prepare you for teaching by making you actively go to different schools of his choice and observe. I have learned so much from him. Dr. Robinson is truly an inspiration to future educators.
i thought he was great too until seeing how bias he is. he tries to force his opinions on you like they're facts. He doesnt care about how well you do. I had to take a test in the testing center which he never even got the grade for& didnt ask me about it til the last day of class-too late to fix it
he was not helpful
it's great, I can't wait till the next section
He is very unclear. He explains things thoroughly only after it's too late. His tests are strange- told us how important a chapter is to learn before an exam then tests us on irrelevant topics, such as who is the author of the textbook.
sucked.. tries to force his opinions. he seems like a cool guy ar first but once you experience some of the better education teachers you'll see this guy is not a good professor. also very arrogant.
i havent even had him for the whole semester yet at i cant wait foe his class once a week
Terrible Teacher.....That's all I got to say about him....Don't take him and if you do have him drop your course......He is a horrible Education teacher........Sorry if anybody thinks hes the best but this is my opinion :)
This class is fairly easy. Prof Robinson is a nice guy with dry sense of humor..but all in all still funny. He grades nicely as well.
wow..i havent finished the semester but his class is by far my favorite! he is GREAT. he makes everything very clear..yes you have to work & prepare yourself..but he teacher in a way that its impossible not to understand. he inspires me even more to be a teacher...I will make sure he's my professor again in the future
awesome teacher
he made the class harder then it should have been..dont take this class with him
great teacher
He's a great man.His tests are a little difficult though. Very interesting class and if you are worried that you might not get an A,talk to him & he'll give you a chance to earn one because he cares if you do.
He asks questions on the test that you wouldnt expect, and if you want to get an A in his class its not just enough to score high on the tests, he makes you write an 8 page paper, if you want to get a B you just score high on the test, he makes no sense
Good professor, just overdoes it with the dry humor. Hard to get what he's trying to get across to you. Nice guy though.
loved this class
I thought it was going to be fairly easy considering he told us the weight was on the things you got the highest grades on, but he was very misleading. Then at the end of sememster he told me I got a C because I did not do well on the tests even though my other grades were A's. I would not recomend taking this if you want a A!
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take his class. He is impossible to understand. The material on the tests is not in the book, nor does he lecture about it for your notes. Constant confusion about what you actually have to know. It's a good class, but take it with another teacher.
No chance for extra credit, mislead that even with a high B, high C, and D test score could receive an A or B with a term paper for term, test misleading with professors opinion overriding factsEX. Autistic children 1st,2nd,last born,N/A. My answer Fact N/A Professors answer Lastborn. Felt defeated because of professor not encouraged
i liked him, but i didn't like the fact that you had to do a term paper to get an A. if you don't do it, even if you have an A you won't get it. i would take him again
BORING! he is very very very misleading. He is up on his pedelstal looking down. Not personal at all, very cold. The class itself, the material is practical, to become a teacher and you should take the class, but with a different proffesor.
I don't know why some people are so hostile. He went strictly by his notes. If you attend class regularly and take notes you will definately get an "A". This teacher is not misleading and was very understanding when I needed extra help and testing time.Thank you Professor keep up the good work.
He has a very dry sense of humor but he makes class interesting. I never read the text. Just show up and take notes. 90% of the tests come from notes. Just beware you need to do a research paper to get an A even if you get As on all of your tests.
great professor! his lessons are intriguing and worthwhile. He is funny and if you pay attention in class, and do the term paper(which is really not hard) then you will get an A. There is not a lot of work and it really isnt hard, only people who dont pay attention and do nothing will obviously fail. I definetely recommend taking his class!
He has the most horrific sarcastic humor ever. I did not like his class. He was not hard, but it's the professor that MAKES the class fun...and he definately did not! His tests are reasonable and he does not bombard you with work. I would take him only if you do not plan on having any kind of relationship with him.
You CANNOT miss class, but if you attend you never have to open your book!! The tests are totally bases on silly small facts he sporadically mentions in class so make sure to take notes of every little silly thing that pups out of his mouth - you'll never know if you'll need that piece of infomation a few weeks later. Don't bother getting the book.
Educ 217 Dr. Robinson will not just hand you a “grade” you will have to work for it and attend class. To actually have to question this, in regards to a college level class, is beyond me. He is available for extra help and extra credit. He is fair and his sense of humor is, divergent to say the least. He wants you to learn…Highly recommend !!!
Extremely Helpful, tests were 90 percent from notes. Great first Education class, Very knowledgable Great Class and Professor
Dr. Robinson is a very smart guy. He knows the material really well and presents it so its easy to understand. He cracks jokes through the class to make it interesting. Its a a good class to attend. I would definately reccommend Dr. Robinson for a Professor!
Not a great teacher.
Quirky sense of humor and tests are sometimes hard to follow the wording, but a good teacher and very interesting subject.
He was very tough. used textbook very little. Tests were based solely on notes and very little on text. If you want an A have to do term paper no matter what your grade is on tests.
He was very tough. used textbook very little. Tests were based solely on notes and very little on text. If you want an A have to do term paper no matter what your grade is on tests.
Currently taking his 6 week summer course and so far its been really easy, he doesnt use the textbooks, the majority of the tests are on the notes...SO TAKE NOTES! likes to crack odd jokes so just smile and laugh, really easy gpoing, makes class interesting, id take him again!
Made material to be learned very interesting.
Dr. Robinson is the best prof ever!! He makes class fun and interesting!I wish i could have him for every class!! Definately take a class with him you will not regret it!
Joe is a great teacher. In order to succeed in his class you need to attend and take notes...crazy amounts of notes, since his tests are based on them. I found him funny, and the material is very interesting. Just study your notes and youll do fine. He also gives you your test grade the day you take it, which is great. I loved his class.
hes a very good teacher and really tells you what teachings all about.. very straight foward and funny too i have and will recommend him to anyone in need of an education teacher! great guy. great class!
Dr. Robinson was my professor for EDUC 105 & 217. I found him to be funny and entertaining as well as very knowledgeable. It's critical to attend class and take notes; if you do this both classes are an easy A. I recommend taking him for your education courses. The field visits he arranged for 217 were both great experiences.
Take this guy! Robinson is an easy teacher and the class is very easy if you pay attention and take notes. All the tests are multiple choice, etc. and are based on the notes you take. hardly ever used the book...had to write short papers on the 2 field visits he sets up for you to go to. offers extra credit papers.
really a fun class, very easy to get an A
He is by far the best education teacher at brookdale. He keeps the class fun and interesting and it is very interactive. His tests are not hard and he is very helpful. Take him if possible!
Amazing Teacher!!! I highly recommend that u take him. The field visits that he arranges are really good & u learn a lot from them. The tests are straight from the notes you take in class.
He's a nice guy, he doesn't penalize you for attendance. He is dull and boring you might fall asleep. He also kicks you out of the class if you use your cellphone. But he always lets us out early!
I took him for 105 and after that wouldn't think of taking anyone else for 217. His class is very funny and definitely one I look forward to going to. If you pay attention and study your notes you will get an A. He is also understanding about handing in late papers. The first few minutes of the first class he will seem boring but he's awesome.
Great teacher! Tests are from notes, definitely wasted 80 bucks on a textbook. He also has a sense of humor on him, reminds me of Groucho Marx and Rodney Dangerfield. He's a great teacher, keeps the class entertained, and knows what he is talking about.
I LOVE this teacher. he is by far the best! I enjoy going to his class every week. He's easy and funny and teachers the way we think teacers should teach :]
Tests are given from class notes. Do not buy the book. Aside from the inappropriate comments/jokes, he is very knowledgeable and thorough in communicating his expectations and subject matter. Course work requires 2 field visits and 2 papers besides the tests. His grading policy is fair and in the students favor.
Professor Robinson is wonderful. His class is my favorite of the semester. Hes very smart, interesting and his lectures are easy to follow. His tests are SUPER EASY! All from notes, no textbook! Funny questions too! Right up there with Jack Ryan! All in all, I would recommend him! Only 4 tests and 2 field visits and attendance! Tha
Absoluely AMAZING! LOVE him LOVE his class. I highly recommend him. Tests are easy. Lectures are clear. Field Visits are great experoences
Great teacher!! Dont buy the book bc you dont use it.. Tests are from the notes. He is very nice and makes class interesting.. He never cancels class. only 2 tests than the rest of the unit is a quiz every week but are very easy!
Hands down the best professor at Brookdale. Every class was so interesting and you learned so much. I looked forward to his class every week and loved every lesson.
Great class! Puts things in very clear turns, is FUNNY, doesn't use the textbook at all, easy tests & quizzes. Must go to Board of Ed meeting & write paper to pass. Offers Extra Credit & wants everyone to succeed. I learned so much & had a blast!
Dr. Robinson is amazing. Don't take his class if you are offended easily. He says it how it is, and will use language that is not particularly politically correct. I love him. He's crystal clear, does not use the text book, and has the class down to a science. Go to the field visits! They're awesome. And take notes while he talks.
He made it clear to me that i really want to be a teacher! TAKE HIS CLASS!
You'll recognize him by the stool he brings to class. He is really a great professor, witty, knowledgeable, and fair. No power points, lectures are interesting, no text book. Would most definitely recommend to anyone. Going to his class is refreshing and there is a level of ease; however, you still learn a lot.
He has no grading rubric.. which infuriated half the class because we never knew the percentage of our grades or anything until the day our grades were posted online. He is a very dry humor type of teacher. He thinks he knows everything because he has "experienced it all", the only thing that saved my class was the extra credit. Not a pleasant guy.
Good Teacher.
I absolutely love Professor Robinson. Many people complain about his grading rubric but I don't mind it. He doesn't use canvas, but we switch papers in class and grade them and you'll always know your grade before class ends. His lectures are fun, interactive and interesting. I take this class at 8am and I don't mind it. I DEFINITELY recommend him!
He's fantastic. Pay attention, sit up close, and participate and you'll get an A. I took his Education 105 class, didn't study once, just paid attention, and passed with an A. You don't need the book, and you don't take many notes at all.
Professor Robinson was awesome! I'm taking him again next semester because I loved him so much. If you want a teacher to joke around with and actually learn something I would definitely recommend him!
amazing 10/10
Robinson is an awesome person. He has a very unique sense of humor, but overall had the class laughing on a weekly basis. He's an older gentleman so he has a more traditional way of keeping grades. (doesn't use the computer, uses pen and pad so it's harder to keep track of your grade)But if you attend class and listen you're destined to get an A!
I could write about Dr. Robinson for more than 350 characters, but from what I can say is he is not an effective professor. His grading system is horrendous, so if you think you got a few questions wrong on a test enjoy the low grade you're going to receive. He has his students grade their tests so I smell a hint of laziness on his part.
This class is easy, all you have to do is show up, do the assignments and do the extra credit to get more points, although I wish he takes notes as he writes on the board so it will be easier for for us to study from so we can pass the test. Overall, this class is interesting for those who are interested in studying about special needs children.
He gives extra credit as in writing 4-5 page essay on any course topic and 2-3 page on film review. They really do help boost your grade up when you are not going well on his tests. His class is interesting because he takes us to field visits and his lectures are pretty great.
I thought his class was going to be easy at first but sometimes I can't follow up on what he talks about, I wish he could write on the board and put his notes on the powerpoint so it's easy for me to pass his tests.... I did the extra credit and I thought it helps but I ended up with a C as my final grade... I wouldn't take him again...
I felt like his tests were not clear on what he went over in class. Also he doesn't grade tests, he make us have students grade eachothers test which is assigned of him being lazy grading the tests... I did extra credits from his class but I didn't really boost my grade up very high... He doesn't have a grading scale at all...
I couldn't understand what he was saying and I couldn't take notes because of how confusing he is...
Not a good teacher and he doesn't have a grading rubric...
Horrible teacher... He sits then talks and I barely took notes from him...
This teacHer doesn't provide notes or power points or anything! I'M COMPLETELY LOST! DONT EVEN BOTHER TAKING NOTES IF YOU CAN'T KEEP UP WITH WHAT HE SAYING THAT'S WHY SOME PEOPLE DON'T DO WELL ON HIS TESTS!
217 was a bit harder than 105, but it's a 200level class, so it makes sense. There were 4 tests and 2 papers based on field trips. There was also an extra credit assignment. Professor Robinson doesn't use canvas, so you are kind of on your own to figure out your grade. Keep track of your test scores and you'll be fine!
Dr. Robinson is a true gem in Brookdale! I took him for EDU 105 and am now in 217. I wish I could keep him around for the rest of my career! He is inspirational, caring , and most of all engaging! His tests are difficult but his lectures are genuine, his field trips are made to be learned from, and his EC assignments are so EASY! 10/10! Great Class
You can tell that this professor really cares about helping to shape the future educators of America. He is one of the best professors that I have taken at Brookdale.
I'm took this class and I barely took notes from this Professor, just wish he goes a little slower and wish he writes notes on the bored so I can look over them and study them to pass his tests.....
I can't take notes from him through his mouth, sometimes I wish he writes them down so we can look over them to pass his tests...
Even though he said we don't need to use the textbook and even though it's a 200 level class, I do need the textbook so it can help me catch up with the notes since I tried taking notes from him...
Even though you didn't do well on the tests, you can still do you extra credit assignment that will boost your grade up but it really didn't... I thought I was going to get an A but ended up with a C. I wish there's another teacher besides him that could teach this class by using powerpoint notes and canvas, so it's easier to study for tests.
He's an okay teacher but I wouldn't recommend him with anyone, I barely learned anything from him...
Even though he said you don't need the textbook, I believe you do because it helps you learn more about the lecture... I barely took notes from him.
I love this teacher and this class so far, he's a really good teacher!
This teacher is very inspirational! I'm taking his class right now and I'm loving it! I love the field trips that we went to, makes learn so much about children with disabilities! Take his class!
Great teacher and his lectures are amazing! Take him!
I really enjoyed professor Robinson's class! His lectures are amazing and I really looked forward to class every week. The class is easy, pay attention to the lecture, take notes, and review them before the test and you'll be fine. Not much work and he gives chances for extra credit. Definitely recommend taking Robinson.
No grading rubric, hard to follow taking notes while he speaks, and extra credits won't help boost your grade up. Not a great professor to be honest.
Professor Joe Robinson, is nice and respectful that's about it. His class is based off of 4 tests, 2 reaction papers based from field visits to other schools. He doesn't use canvas, usually doesn't email back. His tests are hard. He doesn't write any notes on the board everything is spoken. I thought I was going to get an A but got a C.E.C useless.
Professor Robinson is a great professor. I took him for educ 105 and 217. He gives great lectures and they are really interesting. He doesn't use canvas and writes all the notes on the board. You need to keep up with his notes he gives in class. The class wasn't morning at all and I really enjoyed taking both.
I had this Professor for both EDUC 105 & 217. He is very fair. Everything he puts on the board and lectures about is what is on the test. No book is needed. His lectures are not boring and he makes sure everyone participates.
I wish he puts a grading rubric on the syllubus so I know what my grade is so far... His lectures are okay just wish his tests weren't that hard and wish he put notes on the powerpoint. The textbook helps, he needs to be more organize...
Not the best Education professor, he doesn't use grading rubrics on his syllabus and it's hard for me to follow along what he's talking about... His tests are hard...
Nice guy. He gave me a check plus on my papers so i thought I would get a good grade. I also did all the extra credit. I ended up getting a B. A "B" is the minimum grade to do the field work and I did extra credit and got check pluses on the paper. ??? I'm taking him again next semester since he was nice and very smart.
Dr. Robinson is a great professor. I took his Intro To The Exceptional Child class & it has been my favorite class I have taken at Brookdale thus far. He never uses the textbook, all test questions relate to his lectures so make sure to listen, take good notes and study. Take his class; at the end of the semester you will be happy that you did!
He is cool but he should organize his syllabus and I wish he writes some notes on the board incase we don't have have tape recorders and he speaks so fast.
He's okay I guess but sometimes I wish he is organized on his syllabus and he has a grading rubric.
I just find his class boring and I barely keep up with his notes. Use a tape recorder if you can't keep up with his lectures. I really wish he writes on the bored for notes.
i get so bored in his class just wish he writes more stuff on the bored or make powerpoint notes so we can take notes
If you have a laptop bring it to class! Doesn't use powerpoint and only writes a few things on the board. Would be best to bring a lap top and quickly type everything he says. 2 class trips that are really nice. Offers extra credit. If you pay attention easy A
I love this professor so much and his tests are easy and it's straight off from the notes! No textbook needed!
I love Joe Robinson so much! His lectures are amazing and I love that participation matters! I love his class so much!
He makes EDUC-217 really fun and entertaining! No textbook needed for tests just use your notes! His lectures are amazing!
Such a good class and I love how we always go on trips to learn more about different children! I love his class so much! Joe Robinson is the best!
There should be more Professors like Joe Robinson! Tests are straight from the notes, and he is a very chill and hilarious guy! He really does make his class interesting and fun!
This professor is one of the best I've ever had, his lectures are so interesting. I took this class at 8 am and I didn't mind getting out of bed to go to his class and that says something.
Amazing professor, made learning about education interesting, I believe he is extremely fair with his grades if you do your work you will do well.
I love this professor, he's hilarious and this education class is so fun when he teaches!
I took this guy in EDUC-105, I can't wait to take him again next semester and he's really good teacher! He always makes his classes fun and he's a pretty hilarious guy!
Took him for EDUC 217 and LOVED him!!! Taking him now for EDUC 199 and so happy. Fair grader, intelligent guy, and overall quality person.
This teacher is so easy and fun! I would take his class again!
such a great teacher and person I would highly recommend
good guy and has a dry sense of humor which i love, but... he doesnt put grades into canvas in the ripe year of 2020. passed with a C, but u need a B to continue on to do your hours. was so bummed cause i thought i was doing fine the entire semester. had i known where i stood in the class, i could have buckled down and studied extra hard to get a B
Cool dude, doesn't assign too much outside of class, usually just to study material because he does quiz a lot. I had him spring 2020 and when we transitioned to online he just assigned a 2 page paper (double spaced) each week and you were done! Easy class, a lot of material but he explains it very thoroughly. Lectures usually ended early!
