He is very dedicated.He walks u thru answers to the labs & if u study exactly what he goes over in the exam reviews, you'll do fine.He gives alot of exam extra credits. Only complaint is that he could explain the math calculations better (he confused us).

He eats,sleeps and lives for Astronomy!Very dedicated, helpful in labs, lots of extra credit, but confuses students in the way he explains the math calculations. He shows 2 many ways of solving it when he should just show the simplest way. Recommended!

My Professor Sivo is very dedicated to his students and teaching. He is willing helping his students everything. It's the most difficult course for me because my english is poor, but it make me become more persistent and hardy. He is lenient,conscientious,and reliable.

Prof Sivo is what you want in a teacher. He's insightful, interactive and genuinely brilliant. (A Cal Tech grad) His passion for the subject shines through in each lecture and his test reviews are complete. You'll learn things here that will stick with you for life. Bergen is so lucky to have him.

Great teacher, learned a lot. A lot of work, but not too difficult. Interesting stuff. Def. recommend! Lots of extra credit!! Gives previews to the tests that are basically the entire test. if u want to learn about astronomy, like HONESTLY, take him, if this is a core class and u HAVE to take SOME science, dont, hes RELE hard ... and thats the truth. Really smart and nice guy, but a very challenging class

Ummm... if you are taking this as a night class, kill yourself before you register for it. The information was way too complex for an intro course. He gives good reviews, but keeps you the entire time, every class. Even in the front row, you fall asleep. He needs to lighten up a bit and make the class more enjoyable.

Sivo rocks ! I have him in my class now, my night class and he is the best teacher. He is very clear, consice, brilliant and very sexy. This teacher explains to you everything ( sometimes hurries up with the material ) but is very knowledgeable. Take him and you won't regret it. Plus the labs are a piece of cake. Sivo, you are my dream man!

BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD! Sivo Rocks.after his class astronomy became my hobby!it is so interesting! you are really learning in this class. a lot of extra credits on the exams. very strickt on spelling though( you can get no credit for the whole question if you spell important word wrong)P.S.Dont think you will look through telescope all the time

He is a great teacher, does not let you out early but that is because of his passion to teach. Labs are a snap especially with Prof. O. and the tests are a piece of cake as well, he practically gives you the test questions in his review. He's great!!!!!!!!!!

Great lecturer, does a great job keeping it interesting. Shows passion for what he is teaching. Losers will sit in the back and do badly, I wouldn't suggest this as a class for anyone who is a poor student. Class seems very difficult at first but towards the end you realize it is easier than expected.

Professor Sivo is the best professor i have ever had. out of all the class i have taken over the years, this was by far my favorite class. his teaching style is strict but still makes it fun, he makes you want to learn. I highly recommend Sivo over any other professor.

amazing class. i did tend to fall asleep when the slide projector went on, but he really knows what he's talking about and really enjoys astronomy. highly recommended

i love prof. sivo! his class was so fascinating and he makes difficult material seem so easy. he always has interesting little anecdotes and he's pretty funny too. he gives extremely comprehensive study guides and walks you through all the labs. it seems overwhelming at first, but take good notes and you'll be fine.

Likes to call himself a nerd but doesnt give himself credit for how cool he actually is. Youd be hard pressed to find another professor who sincerely cares & knows so much about what he is teaching. I dont think ill ever meet someone who knows so much about the world we live in as Prof. Sivo does. I could listen to him speak forever & just learn.

In addition to what I was saying before, I'd love to just hang with Sivo & ask him questions about things. Sure he's an awesome teacher who knows everything about everything, but outside of class he seems like an awesome person in general.

Thought he was going to be awful at first, but in the end turned out to be one of the best professors I have ever had!! But beware - LOTS of work and you don't get out early - unless u call 5 mins early.. Rock on Sivo!

Save yourself $100 and don't buy the textbook. You don't need it. You'll learn everything you need to know by Sivo himself. The guy knows it all. The class was rough at three hours a night twice a week, but it was bearable. One of the easier science courses offered. I recommend.

great teacher

Great teacher, always prepared, teaches during the whole class, makes hard subject matter easy to understand. But its a hard course, not his fault, his boss's fault; course covers too much ground. I bought the textbook and it helped make a lot of the information understandable. Dont take this if you just want an easy science course to pass.

I loved this professor! He was knowledgeable and really gave you everything you needed to get an A! If you don't want to work my fellow students proved you don't need to do much to at least pass. However, I learned a lot. It was hard, but he made it fun!! Loved all his stories!!

Prof. Sivo def gets an A+.. great teacher, cares about his job, and his students, just be prepared to do some work and you will be fine, very knowledgeable prof, never tries to talk out of his ass, HE KNOWS HIS STUFF!!! great class!!

pretty good prof..hes a nice guy but the subject is kinda boring..and the classes are long..study a lot for the exams and youll be fine lol overall the class isnt so bad and if you can sit through 3 hours of lecture twice a week youll be fine..or you can sleep..whatever ;)

Awesome prof man plain and simple.. is a virtual encyclopedia.. what doesn't he know? Astro is 6 hours a week but its a treat, I love the subject and learn unlimited knowledge in the class. Also DOLES OUT extra credit like noones business; the only work in there is tests and a few labs, which you shouldn't fail anyway because of copious extra cred

Sivo was an awesome professor! The first labs dealing with math were tough but that's it. I have never known any professors as generous is Sivo. He also gives out tons of extra credit on the tests. Six hours a week (2 classes per week lasting 2 hours and 50 minutes each) is totally worth it! I totally 100% recommend Sivo's Astronomy class!

I took Prof Sivo for Astronomy and he is great! The workload for this course is demanding and there is a lot of information but Prof Sivo presents it in an interesting way (even though he could jazz up his power point presentations a little).

Alright hands down, this guy is awesome. I'm someone who cant stand homework & not a test kind of person BUT pay attention & take notes, be ON TIME, I cant stress that enough, Labs is a MUST DO, they help a lot, make sure 2 bring a snack or drink 2 stay awake & energized, STUDY guides, do it & memorize! It helps! Lots of extra credit, good luck :)

Don't take him for astronomy. He is so boring that the 3 hrs feels like 10. I love learnign about space and stuff but he makes it so lame and boring. Don't try and fit this into your classes because its not worth it.

Dr. Sivo is by far one of the smartest professors at Bergen and even though it was tough in the beginning, it was well worth it b/c I learned a lot. He gives extra credit assignments and is really fair and helpful. He does not belong in bergen but probably at Princeton or something, he's a genius.

Amazing professor. I learned an incredible amount. There is homework, but not a ridiculous amount. Tests involve a lot of studying, but lots of extra credit opportunities. Don't be lazy, and you will pas easily. He is absolutely hilarious. Also, bring him lots of cookies, candy, cake, brownies, and donuts. You'll be BFFs.

Professor Sivo was the best teacher I had all semester. He is so knowledgeable and even though I am not a big fan of astronomy, I kept finding myself totally interested in the subject. The 3 hour classes are hard to stay awake for because it is a lot of information but he makes it as interesting and easy to understand as possible. Take his class!

Great professor and class. The first few weeks are the hardest(MATH!)but after that it's basically lectures and very easy lab assignments. It may be boring if you are not interested in the subject but overall a very easy class. I got an A and didn't even have to take the Final. Again, great professor, I learned loads from him. :)

Great teacher, the material is pretty in depth. Took it online and it is very interactive for an online class. You have to do lots of stuff outside of class and group work so not your typical online class. I enjoyed it.

This is not an easy class, but Prof. Sivo makes it enjoyable. He is extremely knowledgeable, and gives you tons of extra credit on exams. You need to put effort into the class otherwise you will not do good. I got an A, and didn't even need to take the final exam!

The first day has to be the worst, you immediately want to drop it, but i swear stick with it. His gives clear test questions that come right out of the book. Stick with it even though its a hard boring 3 hours.

Fascinating class with plenty of hands on opportunities. If you are lazy, do Sivo a favor and don't take his class. If you enjoy learning, this is a great class! Tests are comprehensive, but he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. If you make it past the first week of Math, you'll love the rest of the semester.

Highly interesting course. This is not an easy or hard course. If you study you should be fine as there is a lot to cover and remember. If you are one of the other types do Professor Sivo the honor of not wasting his and your time.

It's a fascinating subject but you have to study and there is a lot to cover. Prof. Sivo is highly intelligent and knows his subject very well. I got an A, but had to work. Attendance is imortant to him, but he is very helpful and he gives a good amount of extras. He is one of the two best professors that I came across to. Highly recommended.

He is a really amazing teacher. I looked forward to the class and you learn a lot. He is a teacher who actually does his job and teaches well. The class is not an easy A and there is a lot of work and studying but taking him would be worth it. Highly recommended! :)

The class is hard and is not only about learning about stars. There is a lot of chemistry and physics involved. He explains everything in great detail and if you pay attention it should be easy. The class is long and it gets pretty tiring, but he tries to keep us awake with jokes. Great professor!

Professor Sivo definitely knows what he's teaching. He does the labs with you step by step and even gives clear instructions on how to do the take home labs. You have have have to study for the exams, it is all memorization don't try to crunch it all in at once, he requires you to do exactly as he says, do so and you'll get an A

Being someone who is not very good at science, I thought this class was pretty hard. With that being said, this was the most interesting and enjoyable class I have every taken. Professor Sivo clearly enjoys what he teaches and is very knowledgeable about it. He offers extra credit on every test and a ton of extra credit on the final. Great clas

Professer Sivo was very helpful. There are four exams and he drops your lowest one. Study and you will pass. He will help with any labs and he explains things very clearly. You will actually learn a lot from his class.

Professor Sivo is by far the best professor I've had at Bergen. This guy is nice, very very very intelligent and will answer any questions you may have. Do the work and you will definitely get an A. He makes the class impossible to fail, unless of course you really Mess up. First few classes are math, but don't give up because it gets easier.

At first I thought the class was gonna be super hard, but after the first assignment you breeze through the class. Great teacher, funny, and cares about what he's teaching. Always there if you have a question, and willing to work with you. Def take him if you want to learn. Wish more teachers had his personality.

Similar to Windex, he makes difficult concepts clear and accessible. If you really want to learn physics PHY-280, then take this course. Extremely fair grader, and will give extra credit if you catch a mistake before him during the lecture (he will usually beat you to it). Incredibly smart and will answer all of your questions.

He's a great guy and a great professor. Unfortunately, if you have a job this course is the most overwhelming thing in college. Don't take this if you are limited in time. Experiments are weekly and reports reach up to nearly 30 pages in length. The content is well understood but tough if, as stated, you are limited in time.

The best of the best. After dropping Griffo's 280, i almost quit STEM, but Professor Sivo brought me back to STEM world. This class requires tremendous amount of work: hw, quiz, and lab report. If you have job and more than 12 credits, you probably will just hate this class. This is the best professor i've met so far.

Professor Sivo is the best professor I have come across in my time in college. I recommend him for anyone pursuing a science related career. This class is not an easy A or B, but he provides enough work for you to succeed. Exams are tough but he professes the proper knowledge for you to do well on them. I am grateful I was able to take his class

Had him last semester for astronomy. Best. Teacher. I Ever Had. Hands down. Pay attention and do the work that he gives you precisely to his liking. There is a reason for it. Don't forget, you are paying to take the class, so he will most certainly give you every dollar worth. Not a joke class. Should probably have an interest in the subject.

If you care about the subject, Professor Sivo is the best Professor you can find. He really loves Physics and you will get inspired just from the lectures. It's a lot of work, but you will have a really good base in Physics. P2rofessor is very much available to help with Physics questions as well as any other question related to professional life.

Absolutely GOATed Physics professor. The proverbial rock upon which the tide crashes. Best organized and rigorous course by a mile. 30+ page lab reports every 2-3 weeks and weekly quizzes. Cross your t's and dot your i's. Gives you the best foundations for CRUSHING future STEM courses. AVOID taking other hard classes/commits if you have him!

Dr. Sivo knows physics like the back of his hand. Tests are weekly, 15+ page lab report every 2 weeks. Attend his office hours with past tests in hand to have him correct them. Solve algebraically, include units, and you'll be fine. A+++ TEACHER!!!
