Nice Guy, Pretty cool. Enjoyed the class.
his excitement rubs off on the students, i would take him again and again

Great professor. He really enjoys what he does, but the tests are a little hard, but as long as you attend class, pay attention, and study you'll do fine.

His teacher is fun, lively, insightful and easy to work with. The work isnt dead easy but wont't make you drink either. You would enjoy doing his work, because he makes you feel intelligent and encourages you to do your best, and your hapy to give it.
Trumino is the man...the work in his class isnt so easy but you learn a lot from his discussions and i like his steven segal style..jeans and a tie..hes the man...trumino if read this its nige..
This man is the best in class. His lectures kept me awake even at 8am...Hes an interesting professor and funny guy too.
Interesting class discussions. Great professor and seems like a great guy
Very good teacher, Funny, Makes the class fun and go by quickly...Just do the work, Study and you will get a good grade
love this guy...shows a real passion for teaching which makes every1 in the class interested...uses good examples and really leaves his class open for alot of discussion...his tests can become a little much at times tho...definently take him if u can

Trumino is so cool. Go talk to him in his office, you'll have a blast. Writes great letters of rec. and hes so entertaining in class. Take him at 8AM and you WILL NOT fall asleep. Hes the man!
This guy is the man. He's so funny, and helps out alot during the course of the year. He gives a descent amount of work, but he grades really easy and you can show it to him b4 the due date to see how good it is. You wont fall asleep in his class.
Hes the best and the coolest professor but for the record, whoever questioned his ratings dissapearing its bc the system picks up on the same person rating a prof more than once and if its detected, it deletes the persons ratings.each computer has an id #
Dr. Trumino is so much fun in the classroom. His discussions and topics are great. I would take him again.
he is really nice and outgoing, he is not hard but he is not easy,,,just right, he is fair just do the work and you will get atleast an a-
This prof. is aight. His handwriting sucks but that's besides the point. Overall is you pay attention and go to class everyday you'll do aight. He's real big on attendance and hates tardiness, it shows on ur grade!
great fun teacher
He is not hard at all. He gives alot of essays to write for the tests though, but they're not bad at all. He hates latenesses. He is a very cool guy...
he's one of the greatest professor u could find in St. John's. He gives you lot of essays for test but they are very interesting. He always helps students. I took him at 8 in the morning and didn't fall asleep. He's very funny, caring, and a great professor. You can go to his office to have a blast
You have to read 2 books and write about 15 pages about them. Also you have to write about other 20 pages for each of the Part 2 of test. The 40 pages typed are take home though. So if you love reading and typing over 50 pages, take him, if not good luck typing for over two weeks.

Nice professor but really annoying, his voice went right throught me especially at 8am. Multiple choice tests are ridiculous if you don't know the book like the back of your hand and the take home essays are ridiculous. Don't take him if you don't like to work for your grade!
He is a very nice professor.Class is very interesting you will have to write at least 4 very long papers but if you start them on time you wont have a problem.
Trumino is so excited/animated when presenting the subject matter, even at 8 am, you can't help but become absorbed in his words. He involves the class, speaks in our vernacular, and yet forces us to advance our cognition. He's amazing!
Since he's a soc professor, he really just talks about sociology in my dny class. but he really is a sweet guy, loud (prob impossible to fall asleep) and is so helpful. the work he gives is a bit challenging, def not anything impossible. but he isnt for the slackers cuz he grades papers strictly. but other than that, great guy, you can learn a lot
Hard to fail.
He is the chairperson of the major and has been teaching forever so the man def knows his stuff. He's also a sports fanatic so you will learn a lot as an SPM major. Class is not easy, gives a lot of work but you won't mind doing it because you learn so much. Class is more like lunch in Marillac than actual class. DEF take him. He's great.
This professor is an extremely fun, helpful, and caring chairperson. He has a sociological background, so, expect the first test to be heavily-based on the Sociology articles he gives. It is definitely impossible to fail this class because of the extra credit opportunities he gives. You can do service learning to get 2 grades up on your final mark.
He knows his material, makes class interesting, and he's challenging. This subject and prof. are the perfect example of what makes CPS 100 times better than SJC. Prof. like this cater to students with personality. I went from SJC to CPS.I'm glad I'm, now spending my money wisely. The difference is that CPS treat students with respect.
Honestly, he comes off as a nice guy, which he is and hes a fun professor...but then he drops these bombshell tests on you. at least 3 essays and 40 m/c questions for 1 TEST, you'll wanna jump off a cliff. Likes sports but has the worst handwriting ever and likes to circle everything he writes on the board, you better be ready to work your butt off
Interesting professor who is a nice guy and makes class interesting, however do not take the class if you don't like a lot of work. There are 4 tests, 2 multiple choice tests on texbook chapters and the other two are Essay tests, where you have to read articles from another textbook and write about them, in addition to a take home assignment.
Very easy class. The course is focused more on sociology than New York, but he is the chair of that department, so it's to be expected. The class is heavily discussion based, so if you dont want to participate, dont take the class. He probably will call on you to contribute even if you dont volunteer. Do the small amount of work and youll be fine.
Funny! No reading until you get papers to write on the material and the book that he authorized.Dats the only time that you will need to read and its a lot of reading that time.Books expected to read on his tests too.If you get into it,its fun to read but still alot.Attendence not that important. Just do those papers m take tests n make n A or B+
pretty annoying guy. will slack off for the beginning of the semester and then when he needs to put in grades he will start giving stupid essays that he'll grade unfairly just to even out the high scores that students get from the exams. easy A but his personality was too annoying
Great professor. MUST DO THE READING. It's easy once you do that. Very engaging, likes to curse a lot during class. He's animated. Enjoy his class. Reading = A.
He is a fair grader. Make sure you do the reading and the essay. I got an A - but that was because I did not study for the final. As long as you do the reading in the textbook and the essay book, you should do extremely well.
Mostly a sociology class. Does throw in some NEW YORK once in a while. Repeats some information over over because he can not remember whether or not he taught it. A lot of bust work essays and lab write ups as well as a big research paper. Not too much DISCOVERING NEW YORK!
He's very nice and funny, his class flies by. His notes are the same stuff and the last class over states EVERYTHING! Tests are extremely hard even after studying hours. Gives nearly 100 questions in 55 mins. Extremely hard grader. If you have a choice take someone else if not, he's not completely horrible just dont expect an A; unless he favors
This class was useless for me. Its a deviant behavior class which I feel I have learned very little. I personally do not like his style of teaching. Material is NOT clear during lectures. He disagrees with you way of thinking if it is not the same as his. Do not take him.
he is a really funny and nice guy. he is also helpful and understanding. there are 4 tests and he drops the lowest grade of those. also a semester long project that is a 5-10 page paper you hand in at the end of the semester. his class is mostly lectures and notes from the book and his notes. there is some homework but not too much.
have learned nothing about new york whole class is about sociology but worse, every class is the same, he repeats the class material over and over, WAY to much work... BAD proffessor
Whoever thinks Professor Trumino was too hard and gave too much work was probably a horrible student to begin with. He was awesome and I recommend anyone to take his classes!
This class is really a sociology course. Hes a GREAT guy to talk to and he'll give u the benefit of the doubt on anything. Problem is, this class has ALOT of work. 1 major research paper, 2 big take home essay tests, attendence and papers on 4 transitional and 4 cultural events, and 6 hrs of community service with a paper. Id take some1 else.
great person and professor, interesting class on sociology, but alotta work is required but it isnt rocket science. He is a fair grader, u get what u deserve and what u work for =]
Great teacher... very passionate and likes to get a great discussion going about important issues ... gave us the essay questions a few nights before the final. Probably one of the most interesting teachers i've had at sju
This class was too difficult. Great guy, but the tests are too hard. Unfortunately, they mean your grade. I attended class everyday, took notes, and studied for hours and still could not do well.
hes a great professor he lets you submit exams before they are due and he proof reads and gives you feed back. no class work just 3 exams he does alot of extra things in order to help boost your grade. your allowed a note card for all exams. very thorough and interesting class discussions
Dont like, cant understand anything that he says, alot, A LOT, of work, meticulous grader, and he sucks. He repeats information. For instance, we went over the same stuff for THREE classes straight. Dont take.
Great teacher(had him for DNY).easy to pass, unless ur lazy. LOTS of readings.Goes over a lot in class, pay attention b/c what he discuss in class is most likely to go on the test and the readings. He gives lost of essays that are related to the readings which is pretty much worth more than his test. extra credit is available.
He can be all over the place sometimes, sometimes repetitive, bad handwriting on the chalkboard! Other than that, if you dedicate yourself you'll do okay. After all I got an A :)
Cool as hell. Grades tougher than most.
Took him for sociology of sport. He's kind of a nut job. I was expecting the course to be a break in my schedule, but he made it one of the toughest courses I've had in my college career. A lot of papers, and he's really critical about your writing style. Mid term and final were 50 MC and 5 short responses and 2essays, plus 7-9 take home responses
He's very condescending in his responses, and curses and uses vulgar language often in class. I'm not alone when I say he's a guy you want to avoid. i got an A- in his class because i was forced to make it a priority by the ridiculous work load he assigned for exams. And it was an elective! I do not recommend. Very smart guy, not worth the truble
Prof. Trumino is a really cool guy and a great teacher. He starts interesting discussions with the class and will listen to any opinion. He'll tell you if he disagrees, but will always allow the student to speak as long as the responses are intelligent. There is a lot of reading, but it's consistent with the exams. He is a good, but fair professor.
VERY Tough grader! Multiple Choice tests aren't too hard if you study from the textbook!
he's a character. very friendly and outgoing, occasional foot-in-mouth moments during lectures. Work load is pretty heavy and requires you to read and know the text well. He's nice tho, approachable and will do what he can to help you out. If u stay organized and start all the assignments early, ull be fine
He is great lecturer. Interfering with students and make them think. On the other hand his assignments are mega hard and can deep fry your brain. He is fair grader.
Professor Trumino is soooo trill! He gives a decent amount of work but more than enough time to complete it. His test come straight from the textbook and he goes over every chapter in class. And he's a very fair grader
Trumino is a great lecturer, however for an elective, his workload is a little over the top. His "short essays" are 8-12 pages and the take homes are sure to be at least 15pgs (you're assigned two of each) The papers are due a little too close together to get done without driving yourself insane. Only take him if you have a buncha free time.
Very hyper but makes class interesting. Paper? More like Novels couldn't be a better description of the take home exams
While I wait for my grade for his class to show up, I guess I'll write a review on him. He really can be hyper sometimes, and his grading criteria isn't the best, but is fairly decent. My biggest problem with this guy is the workload. He seems to forget that we were taking a lvl 1 soc class and that some of us were taking other demanding classes
I enjoyed class time with him because his lectures are pretty interesting and he is so enthusiastic about what he's teaching, but outside of class, the workload is unbelievable for an intro class. 2 midterms and 2 finals (10 page paper and in class exam), and 2 books (10 pg paper each). He really doesn't give the work in an adequate time frame.
This class is pretty easy but the workload makes it tough. This man thinks you have nothing else to do. If you think you are good at handling huge workloads go for it.. He is really passionate about this stuff but talks to much and barely ever finishes anything. The stuff is easy, its just to much to do with a busy schedule.
His notes aren't very clear and you can barely read the what's on the board. He gets off topic a lot and expects you to know everything. He gives way too much work and not enough time to do it and doesn't grade too fairly, meaning if he doesn't like your paper in the beginning he won't finish reading it and grade you on what he read.
Very distracted professor. Gets very sidetracked. 10% of material talked about in class is on the test.. the other 90% "you should just know" or, "read the book on your own." Not specific enough. Seems to think everyone had a course in Sociology before, when that is DEFINITELY not the case.
If you love sports, you''ll love this class with him! He wants you to do your best and will help you to pass the class. However, his notes aren't the best and his class is very informal.
Mr. Trumino is a very kind and hilarious professor. However he talks and doesn't stop from the moment his lectures start. Somedays they are interesting and others will put you right to sleep. He doesn't give homework or hard test, however the assignments he makes you do are a lot of work and writing for a intro class. Also understanding with you.
The amount of work he gives you for a 1,000 level course is absolutely ridiculous. Wanted to drop him the minute i saw the syllabus but couldnt due to scheduling conflicts. He gives you 6 assignments, 1 test and 5 papers that are hard and very very time consuming. Each paper will be at least 8 pgs. Avoid at all costs.
I honestly hated this course. I was really looking forward to taking sociology, but this was absolutely the worst. He goes on with the same lecture for about 3 days. We go extremely slow, so we're not even on track in class. You have to memorize everything in the book for your exams, and lets be real, you cant remember every single little detail.
I was a little taken aback by the amount of reading as compared to my other courses, but this is college and Sociology requires reading so I had to suck it up. It was a solid course where I learned a lot and knew that the class discussions would be beneficial if I didn't finish the reading or had additional questions about what I read. I liked Dr.T
He doesn't give that many assignments but the ones he gives are a lot of work (22 page paper). He doesn't give any sort of outline or study guide for the midterm and doesn't give any homework to help your grade. Can be rude in class if you ask questions and doesn't stop talking from the minute class starts till it ends, also never answers emails.
This guy seems nice, he does a good job teaching sociology. I think he means well, but you will have to spend hours writing for his class. The amount of work, for this basic core class, is incomprehensible to most freshman in college. This class will most likely tear your GPA apart.
The worst teacher I ever had. He teaches nothing but give 4 or 5 really huge papers. Just do not take him or you will regret.
Honestly, I was intimidated by him when classes first started. His coursework is a bit much (20-30pgs), but if you truly do dedicate time and effort, you will do well. I've learned a lot in this course and I'm glad I took him. I ended up getting A although I didn't do that hot on the midterm exam. I showed immense effort, and ended up doing well.
Professor Trumino creates interesting class discussions and is a very nice teacher. He doesn't give a lot of work but the papers he does assign require a lot of writing and a lot of reading. He drops the lowest grade usually and gave only one in class test. The rest of your grades come from papers and take home essays.
He was the man. He tried to make it interesting. He was super nice, he gave a lot of work though. Not a lot of assignments, they were just extra. But Im trash at managing time and I still got all his work done (but i was also in all easy core classes). Hes very understanding, great teacher, and good at prepping for the midterm and final.
if you want your GPA get better, so do not take him. He believes that his class is the only one you have. A lot of reading and test take home but hello the other side, 30 pages for each one ( 3 tests). Also, service workshop paper. Not easy to get an A and survive in his class
SHOW UP TO CLASS. if your absent less than three times he gives you extra credit on the final. all over the place when it came to grading but he had very interesting lectures.
3 papers and one in class exam (3 are graded, 1 dropped) Papers are a lot but if you follow the questions you will complete them easily. Exam in class was light. If you have 3 A's out of the 4 exams you can choose not to take the 4th exam and save time to study for the final. He was pretty light IMO.
20 page paper for an introduction class to sociology? nope. Trust me not worth it.
I wanted to take this class as an elective and BIG MISTAKE. All because of the professor, this class is HORRIBLE! He is rude!! This class got turned into an online class during the Coronavirus pandemic which made it even worse. He assigned so much work. I ended up doing P/F for the class because I will NOT let this terrible class bring my GPA down.
Took him in Spring 2020, made the course very manageable considering the pandemic. Would take him again if Fall was online. Overall the course was interesting but you'll need to read a lot to do well on Midterms/Finals and the Stigma essay. Grade consists of 3/4 tests + essay on book. Graded very fairly and always responded to emails within hours.
Absolutely loved this professor. Yes he does give a lot of work but it's manageable. He's also super understanding and lenient. He's willing to accept late work as long as you have a legitimate excuse and give you a very fair grade without any penalty. His exams were super easy. They were all multiple choice and take home.
He was very passionate about what he was teaching which made him get off track a lot of times, but whatever he discussed was interesting. He didn't give much homework and was mostly just a midterm and a final. Both required a lot of reading and writing but he gives plenty of time to do them.
Asynch class but professor has NO clue how to teach online. No idea how to use BB. Recorded lectures as if he was teaching in class :-( All he talked about was his new house and politics. Avoid if you are taking online
I highly advise if you see this, please, don't take him. We started off the year with a take home essay that's 7 pages long, along with studying for 60 questions midterm. But it doesn't stop there. Right after that he gives a 20 page take home essay along with a 7-page final paper. His notes don't help, you have to look them up in the textbook.
For our final exam students were instructed to write 2 ten page papers on the books we studied throughout the course. I used many discussion notes and textual evidence for both papers and still received a D. I spent a lot of time on those papers and it definitely took a toll when my efforts weren't appreciated. This was first year class by the way
Good luck taking him. He gave a 7 page midterm, a term paper and a final with the same format. There was also a midterm and final exam. His notes are not helpful and not to mention that when he writes them on the board they are hardly legible. The only good part about his class was that the final was open notebook.
Prof. Trumino really isn't as bad as most people are saying. His tests are open note and he doesn't give assignments. Yes, his midterm and final essays are long but the content is really not that hard to complete. He is a nice man who loves what he teaches, just take enough notes and you will be fine!
Very relaxed with his grading- he will drop bad grades. Horrible handwriting on the board makes it difficult to read and take notes, but listening to his lectures are entertaining because it's off the top of his head. Nice guy overall- funny and passionate.
He's very easygoing and nice. he just serves 4-5 assignments that have to be 7-10 pages long. His handwriting is not easily readable, so make sure you pay attention when he goes over the chalkboard. very easy with late work if you're open and honest with him. GO TO CLASS, he gives extra credit to people who miss 3 days or less!!
Can go off into tangents, but good discussions. Graded by 2 exams, 2 essays (long at about 15 pgs but not too difficult), and a term paper book report (7-10 pages). Drops lowest of midterm or 2 essays, but not final exam or term paper. Half-letter grade boost missing less than 3 classes. Tests aren't easy, but manageable if you show up and study
Very messy notes that made no sense, slammed books all the time, graded on five assignments that are very hard. Made comments about people attendance to the whole class. Very hard class to get an A
I personally really liked this professor. His essays and tests are lengthly but he gives lots of time to do them and prepare for the tests. His classes are interesting because he is very passionate about his job.
Lmao. Get ready to be frustrated in this class a bit. Refuses to use PP's (his handwriting is BCE stone scripture type of font that he can't even read at times). Rambles on about random things, sometimes notes something but doesn't go into it, Assigns a draft (no credit at all btw) for a term paper, along w midterm essay questions. Save your mental
trumino was great for intro sociology. there's only 5 things that make up the grade, and he drops the lowest score. he also will give extra points on exams and if your attendance is good he'll give even more points. easy a and an interesting course!
Prof. Trumino's class has a hefty workload, but it's manageable if you stay on top of the readings and engage with the material. The essays can be time-consuming, but using Unstuck ai and the free textbook can really help with study prep.
Great professor. Drops the lowest grade of your 5 tests or gives you the option to opt out of one of them. Pay attention to the lectures and do the reading and you'll be good.
He is a good prof, he is passionate about what he teaches and really grows on u. Yes, he is old and yes his handwriting isn't the best but he is more than happy to explain exactly what's on the board if u ask him to. He gives a lot of extra credit, 10-20 pts for one of the essays. ATTEND CLASS, there is extra credit! Also FINAL EXAM WAS OPEN BOOK!
This course was not taught in a way that was beneficial to me. Essay and Test Heavy. His lectures are boring and not very helpful. Even reading the text didn't help me pass tests easily. Honestly the articles and books he assigns for essays are very one sided. So many unnecessarily long essays outside of class. I do not recommend.
This professor is one of the worst professors you can take. His lectures are super long, none of them correlate with the actual exams he gives, and he's not that tech savvy. Also he assigned these really heavy writing assignments and midterm papers. One of them was 7-10 pages to be exact. To anyone else who takes him, be warned and Good Luck to you
Professor Trumino is a passionate, respectable teacher. Breaks down the class material well throughout the lectures, and cares a lot about class participation. Grade is determined by 2 True/False + Multiple choice exams, as well as 2 take home exams which consist of long essay prompts. Allows extensive time to complete exams. No homework.
Dr. Trumino is well versed in sociology and gave lectures that were effective in explaining the material. He gives extra credit for good attendance and service learning. He provides guidelines for what will be on each exam in advance. I would not take his class again solely because I felt he could be too political at times.
