Mr. Wheeler is one of the best teachers at NLC. Biology is not my interest but he made me want to learn about it. Very helpful guy

this teacher is way too easy to be teaching a college course. he basically stands up in front and tells you everything. he has loads of handouts. i thought this was like a high school class.

THIS TEACHER MAKES THIS CLASS SEEM LIKE HIGH SCHOOL AGAIN. HE GIVES ALL HIS NOTES ON HANDOUTS AND HAS YOU "FILL IN THE BLANKS". THIS WAS ONE OF THE EASIEST CLASSES I HAVE EVER HAD IN COLLEGE. HE SHOULD BE TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL.

EASY, Teaching High School? if you want a C for a grade. He's challenging and will give the grade you deserve if you work for it. I agree that he's better than most instructors, but it doesn't mean that he's high school easy. I recommend him anytime. he's doesn't go beyond the book like most do. he only gives you what you need for the next level.

Very Hard class, pay attention, take notes, show up to class everyday, many quizes. Test are extremely hard so Study Study Study!!!

I had this class during the summer session and I can honestly say I learned something! He gives handouts for his lectures and a detailed list of what to focus on for labs. He is very prompt with returning grades after tests & practicals, and is more than willing to go over them with you. AWESOME TEACHER!!

I took Joe for 2401 & 2402. He is great, he gives you all the notes you need for the test. It is a lot of information, but if you study his notes you will do good on the test. I highly recommend him. He has a great personality as well.

Fantastic professor! Gives detailed notes and as of my taking 1406 offered in-depth reviews of hte tests. Just make sure you show up to class and take notes and you will do just fine!

He is very easy going and gives you all the info you need to get a good grade. Very understanding and tells hilarious stories! I wish he taught more courses!

I am presently taking Mr. Wheeler's class. NOBODY (even dummies) should make less than an A in this class. I feel like I am in the 9th grade again. He gives out all his notes and then reads them to you and has you FILL IN THE BLANKS! If he wasn't funny I'd never go to class. It is sooooo boring.

Got to love him!! His notes are a reflection of the test. You don't have to use the book often. He answers all questions but it might be difficult to catch him in his office. I am taking him for 2401

He is AWESOME! I took him for Bio I and fast track A&P I &II. He is so sweet and funny and will help you with anything. Bio lectures ar boring but he is hilarious. His tests are kinda hard but he does give curves. def take him for A&P.

This teacher was great. Once he warms up to the class, he is pretty funny. He is extremely helpful when questions are asked. Biology is demanding as there is a lot of information to cover. He grades on a curve. Take this teacher and stick with the class.

Took AP II during SUMMER II. Class requires a lot of work. Not a blow off class. He drops the lowest test grade gives a small curve. He is helpful but the notes and lecture isn't very helpful. Don't take him during fast track. The class requires a lot of studying.

I took him for a summer biology course. Lab was a little challenging, just pay extra attention in there, but for lecture, his PowerPoint notes are a great review for the test. If you take a little time to study, you will do well. Great professor, he makes things very easy to understand and is funny to boot.

I'm currently in Professor Wheeler's Bio for Science Majors I. Although the subject matter can at times be dry, his powerpoint slides are useful for study. He clearly takes time to break down the material in the book into layman's terms. He makes classes more interesting by sharing stories about his family and giving contemporary examples.

I loved Joe Wheeler! He was my very first Biol teach three years ago. I retained so much, couldn't have made it through micro with out the base of knowlege he gave me. He was very funny too. Paired with Monica Atwell for lab, was wonderful. He has good reviews for his tests too.

Professor Wheeler is a great teacher. I never felt bored once in his class. I would not say his tests are easy, however if you understand the material from his lectures and notes you should make an A.

Wheeler is not only a funny interesting professor but he knows how to teach very well so one can easily understand the topic. I like the way he breaks down hard topics and illustrates pictures on the board so the class could understand it. Very good teacher and take him if you can.

I had Mr. Wheeler for BIOL1406 and Fast Track A&P I&II. He's a great teacher. He is extremely helpful and will work with you one on one if you need it. He's silly in his own little way which give the class a very relaxed atmosphere. I loved him!

Mr. Wheeler is great!! He is very clear on what you need to study for your tests. He drops the lowest score. He puts all the lectures up on ecampus in powerpoint, so it helps you study. If you need help, he's always available. He also gave extra credit points. He's got a nerdy sense of humor, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be taking him again!

hes a nice guy, not that funny though, the negative is DONT TAKE ANATOMY DURING SUMMER, its fast and lab&lecture tests once a week. hes nice but his tests are 100 questions. and missing 25 is bad! im sure hes easy during fall/spring but not summer. great guy, hard material, too much to remember in 5 days

He is so awesome.. he'll be on the top of your list of quirkiest people ever. Always has stories. Really wants you to understand the material and lets you know exactly what will be on the exam. I had him in Summer & was a lil intimidated about Bio but he breaks it down so well you will get it. His verbiage can be confusing on exams at times though.

Mr. Wheeler teaches like a high school teacher. He passes out his notes with blanks and then proceeds to READ them to you telling you what goes in the blanks. This in NOT teaching. This is reading to the class. He is funny and quirky but not a good teacher. If you want to learn A&P take someone else.

A & P is not an easy course so the instrutor can only do so much. Mr. Wheeler does all he can and more. You must study. Several people in my class did receive low grades but those who studied the material did not. It is an easy A if you put in the studying. There is no way anyone can spoon feed this information anywhere. Study and it is an A.

Pros: EXTREMELY nice and EXCELLENT teaching skills (I am a former teacher). He has been teaching 1406 over 35 years. He curves. Cons: BIOL1406 is a lot more difficult than you might think. He was stumped a few times-not PhD.He says he doesn't go by the text, but I found it necessary. Study the text, Huddleston's notes (on-line), and Wheeler's PP's.

I learned more stuff in this class than all the college classes i have taken in my entire life with 60 credit hours. Each week expect to get a load of information equivalent to a final exam. He is a good teacher though, but don't expect to walk away with an easy A.

Took his Maymester class and all I have to say is he is AWESOME! I actually learned and understood the material. The content was a lot to cover and by no means easy, but he he does his best to make it as simple as possible. He really cares about how you do in his class and is also very approachable. Definitely taking him again!

Mr. Wheeler is very nice professor. His notes are all on power point, include game review power point. Gives extra points for attending the Green Club and give extra curve points. Test for 50 questions very short. I recommend you taking Mr. Wheeler for Biology 1406. Wish he teach Biology 1407. I enjoyed his class.

Biology is hard for me but just put in the work and sit in all his classes. The classes are a bit boring but necessary. I got an A because he curves grades.

He is a very good lecturer and covers the material well and gives good examples. He is always willing to answer questions. Tests are 50 questions and cover the material well. If he makes a mistake of the key he has no problem correcting it. I learned a lot in his class and look forward to taking his Anatomy and Physiology class. High Five!

Took the 8 week FAST TRACK Anatomy and Physiology. Prof. Wheeler is a very fair and knowledgeable professor. If you fail his class, it's because you didn't attend or listen in lecture. This was a fun class because he's excited about lectures. EVERYTHING on the test will be in the notes he provides.

Me and other students agreed. We LOVE Mr. Wheeler. He's funny! Engages you and works to help by curving (A LOT in a Summer semester). But, for a Summer semester I would say not to take him. The tests were not understandable (many had two answers that could be correct). Would I take him in the FallSpring? No doubt. Beware of a Summer III!

Just took professor Wheeler's 1406 bio class. Show up and take notes. He gives reviews and really wants his students to pass. If you don't put any effort in the expect the grade you get, its biology you have to at least try to learn.

Mr. Wheeler has been teaching A&P forever, he knows his stuff. It seems like a lot to learn, but trust him when he says you can do it. "His" notes and Power Points are fantastic. He says you can take your own notes if you want but he would rather you have more time to pay attention and ask questions. Took this for a wintermester class, so it was more difficult as we covered all of bio in 13 days. You can tell he likes teaching the subject and loves teaching! You need to study but can do well if you do your work.

Professor Wheeler is a very approachable professor. His door is always open for questions. He can get off track during lecture from time to time. If you take good notes from his power point presentation and you put in a true effort you will pass with ease. The text book isnt really used but may help to explain things you miss. Lab book is a joke.

Professor Wheeler, has made my transition back into student mode extremely easy. It has been 22 years since i was last a student getting my first degrees. He is very approachable and will help in any way he can. Attend class and participate and you will do well. Test can have some "tricky" questions but 99% straight from notes.

Professor Wheeler is now my all time favorite professor at North Lake. His lectures are extremely informative, and if he knows the class is struggling he will push the test and go over everything again. He gives ample extra credit opportunities, and he's just an all around cool guy. I wish I had more classes left to take with him at North Lake.

Dont take this class if youre not willing to do your part. He will help with anything that you are struggling with, but do not take advantage of him. He is no push over. Book is optional but good to have for reference. He gives out his own notes from the text so you don't have to read unnecessary stuffs. Do attend class and copy down every thing he draws on the board will be on the test. Study your notes and do as he tells you to do. No cheating in lab exam. He is very nice person. 4 test for lecture&amp;4 for lab. No textbook. He actually teaches. He doesn't read out of any book. Everything that you will need to know for the tests will be on notes&amp;power points that he provides for you. I could have gotten an A, but I didn't study much for the tests. Not hard, just a lot to memorize in less time(took his flex-term)but that's A&amp;P.

He is a fair teacher and will help you if needed. He provides a study guide to use for his test and will add 5 points to your test if you turn it in. I would recommend taking his class, but you must show up, study and do the work. His test are pretty straight forward. Don't buy the book download it from openstax for free.

Wheeler is great. He gives curves and will do his best to help you pass as long as you show him you care about your grade. (Go to class) You can miss class but only a certain amount of times. Not just an amazing artist in teaching but also drawing his models on the board. I ended his class with 88 but he curved my grade to an A. He really cares about his students. HE THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR ANATOMY AND BIOLOGY IN DCCCD. I would say I learned more from Professor SEXTON but OVERALL Professor WHEELER is the better professor.

I Absolutely Enjoy Dt. Wheeler classes that after I took his Bio 1406 spring of 2019 I made Sure I took his class for A&amp;P 2401&amp;2402.. I wish that he taught Chem &amp; Micro!! I'll definitely miss his class !! P.s. i studied for my B' s study and you should get a A or B for sure .. Don't slack

amazing professor, helps you in whatever ways he can. if you didn't get at least a B in his classes, you probably screwed around and did not listen. he gives reasonable curves and great lectures/notes for you to understand. he is the only professor i will ever take for sciences!!!

prof J. wheeler is the best, he knows the material and answer all your questions, read the material, study the review and you will get an A. I took him for biology 1406, anatomy 2401 and currently taking him for anatomy 2401. I love how he teache and do his best to make sure we understand and pass. Take him you wont regret it but be ready to study!

He is an amazing professor but yes his class is hard but he gives you a lot of opportunities.

Finished the whole class in 2 weeks 6 days while working FT. I learned a lot in this class and his lecture powerpoints along with info learned in lab manual/exercises were ample to prepare you for tests &amp; quizzes. You need to understand the concepts but the graded work (15 quizzes, 9 tests) was clear and fairly easy. Will be taking for 2401 &amp; 2402!

Prof. Wheeler is a good choice for this course. There were 12 lab quizzes, 3 lab exams, and 6 lecture exams. All of them were timed and there was no proctoring or screen recording. Not enough time was given for exams and he didn't give extra credit this time but he did add 5 points to the final grade. I had an 85 but he curved me up to a 90 (A).

Best professor ever!! But be ready to study because you will get the grade you deserve

If there is one thing I appreciate in any professor, it will be the prompt and clear feedback. Professor Wheeler surely fit into this category. There is no easy A, but if you follow all procedure, read and summit your homework on time, then you will surely have an easy A. You will also like his class.

I took Prof Wheeler's Bio 1406 as a flex in the summer. He gives out 5 exams and a few quizzes if you read &amp;follow the syllabus. he also gives out PowerPoints &amp;review sheets to help you out along with recorded lectures in case you miss or cant make it to the online classroom. I would definitely recommend his class, he sets you up to succeed! 10/10

Professor Wheeler is not only the absolute best professor I've ever had, but he is an amazing human being who genuinely cares for his students and wants us to succeed! Took him for 3 biol courses and am super bummed he doesn't teach micro. Gives study guides and is very clear on expectations. Exams straight from study guides and fast email reply.

I have taken a lot of classes and this is by far one of the easiest classes to make an A in. I procrastinated and did the entire class in the last 7 days. He gives you printable notes that are an exact study guide for the tests. His tests were easy if you study those notes, and I used his ppts for lab tests. There are no assignments besides tests.

I would give this man my left lung. Hes the only reason why I made it through any of my Pathophysiology, microbio, other science classes. Ive taken him 5 times. Would not take any other professor, really wish he taught my nursing school. He makes anatomy so fun/easy. TAKE HIM

I've taken 3 online classes in a row from Wheeler and I wish I could take more. His class is very straight forward, no tricky questions. Watch the lectures, take notes, study your notes and the power points(I make flash cards), and you'll pass. Very generous and kind teacher. You have to study, but can do well.

Prof Wheeler was a kind teacher who made sure to help all his students succeed. Although the class was difficult, I would 10/10 recommend this professor.

I wish I knew about him earlier for my other science classes but yes TAKE HIM. you are gonna have to study, there is no easy way out but it is amazingly easy. His lecture notes are exactly what is on the test as well as his lab powerpoints IS the lab exam!

He is the BEST professor I have ever taken. He is so sweet and really wants you to pass. The only grades in this class are exams- 4 lab tests and 4 lecture tests. I always asked him so many questions in lab and he was always willing to answer them. This class is difficult and time consuming but it is an anatomy class so it is understandable.

I love this man omfg! I cannot stress this enough, he is so nice and understanding. He wants you to pass!
