Joe's a GREAT professor!!! Everyone wants to complain about the difficulty: Hello ppl, it's CHM 105. It's not meant to be easy. You must put a lot of work into the class as with most math or science courses. Joe was always available and I cannnot stress how Great of a teacher he is, I highly reccomend taking his class.
Joe is one of my favorite professors! He is always available & answered emails quickly. Made class interesting while making sure everyone understood the material. I didn't know anything about Chemistry before this course and Joe sparked my interest. I recommend him for any Chemistry course. He is the best!
Joe was a great teacher. Always fair, down to earth and you can tell he wants people to learn. Awesome teacher!
Great teacher! Tests are based off the assigned problems. Learn them and you will get an A. Answers emails really quick.
Very good teacher He knows how to make the complicated become very uncomplicated
i WISH ALL MY TEACHERS WERE LIKE HIM... BEST EVER. I GOT AN A.
Best teacher I've had! Helped me understand chemistry like its grade school math!
TAKE JOE FOR CHEMISTRY!!! ENOUGH SAID
The Best, if you come to class willing to learn he will take you there. Always available to answer a question. If more instructors were like him Forest Park would have the best reputation in town.
Bob is awesome. He breaks down chemistry to a level that anyone could understand. Quizzes and tests cover exactly what he teaches, he even gives a guide as to what you should review. He comes to class every day with a good attitude and cracks jokes all class long. Great teacher.
Excellent instructor! Cuts out the fluff. His tests are straight forward. Do the supplemental problems and study guides and you will do great! I would definitely take other courses with Bob (as he prefers to be called).
As you can probably see from the previous comments, Joe Wilson (aka Bob) is the best Chemistry teacher at Forest Park, maybe in the Greater St. Louis Area. He knows this stuff inside and out, can explain it perfectly so that you will understand as well. Too bad I'm running out of space, can't say enough good things about him.

There is no good reason a student should fail one of his classes. There is plenty of supplemental problems. He's always helpful during office hours. He even let me in another classes lab so that I could get help with an assignemtn I did not understand. Don't wait to ask for help right before a test. He won't have sympathy. Best teacher of the year!
Excellent teacher the best Chemistry teacher that I have ever taken. Just follow his syllabus and you can't fail. You have quiz every week and it's multiple choice. You won't regret it. Love love his teaching skills. Joe is the best.
Excellent teacher the best Chemistry teacher at Forest Park. If you follow his syllabus you can't fail. You have quiz every week and it's multiple choice. Love, love, Joe Wilson can't fail if you come to class. He is always willing to help you if you don't understand. He will not move forward until every student get it. Great teacher!
TAKE THIS TEACHER FOR CHEMISTRY, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
he is the reason why now i like chemistry.
best professors I have ever had. Took at FV spring of 2013 dropped the class when I received an F on the first test. He tells you exactly what you need to study for on Quizzes and test, which are both all multiple choice, plus he even does extra credit. We have the same number of students as when the class started, which should tell you something.
Joe is a great professor who absolutely understands and loves his subject. It's a HARD class but he is completely willing to help his students if they ask.
Joe is a great professor, he says no excuses and he means that. Overall if you do what he says and study there's no way anyone should not pass Joe Wilson's class with an A.
Best instructor I had at stlcc! If you follow his rules and do as he say you'll get an A! Love Love! & I rarely love any instructor.
Just because he is nice and helpful, doesn't mean Chemistry is easy....
I took his Chem 206 class in the Summer and liked his teaching style so much that I drove all the way from Columbia, MO every Thursday night to take his class again in the Fall instead of taking it at Mizzou. Joe is the best! A fantastic teacher, but an even more amazing person.
Inspirational teacher and great personality! Made a whole lot easier to get through Organic Chem. He would be my first choice as a Chemistry teacher. Come to class, pay attention, study the main concepts and you will most likely succeed in his class.
Inspirational teacher who really cares about students.
Love Dr. Wilson. He really cares about his students and as long as you do your part, you can and will pas his class. He is so funny and very approachable. I actually looked forward to coming to his class and I didn't even like chemistry before I had him!
Joe is this the best teacher I've had so far while attending St. Louis Community College. Long as u meet him half way and study u will pass the class. Great instructor!!! Would definitely take him again.
I can not say enough about Professor Joe! What a great and inspirational teacher. He really cares about his students and it shows in how much he helps you understand the subject. Joe sets the bar that all instructors should try and achieve. I cant recommend this Professor enough.
Joe is an amaaazing professor!! I highly recommend him for Chem 101 and 102 students and any other class he would teach. Very clear, understanding and funny. He respects every student. He gives study guides for his quizzes and tests and they are exactly what the study guide says, as long as you give a little time for it, you'll pass!
Joe is phenomenal! He is the professor students have to take for Chemistry. As long as a student meets him half way (study, show up to class and lab), along with having NO EXCUSES; Chemistry will be easy. Help is available from him if needed. Joe has a sense of humor, and a personality that all professors need to have.
He started off great, but soon went down hill. His humor was great for a while then he became really rude and annoying. Test are basic, mostly from supplementalls. He will not teach you anything that you "should know" gives 2 finals so beware. Acs and regular, and no one else does that.. Acs is 1&2 genchem which sucks. Probably would not take again
Joe, a nice mellow teacher, that expects you to put in the work and effort. Summer courses turn out are not for me. But I think coming from SLU to STLCC is a huge jump, but he's one of the better teachers here. Test are heavily based on supplements, postpre labs were confusing (go to office hours). Feel like i could have prepared myself way better
Very inspiring person and also very intelligent. You'd be hard pressed to find a better community college chemistry teacher. He encourages students to email him questions even on holidays. Very helpful if you make sure you know the material doing that. Joe is definitely a personal hero of mine. Was the first time I enjoyed a chemistry class. ..
Joe Wilson's class was the first class that I felt like my professor wanted me to succeed. As long as you do the work and show up , you'll get amazing results.
I've taken other Chemistry classes at Meramec with 2 different foreign teachers and they don't compare to Joe. His expectations are high and he won't belittle you if you don't understand. Possibly the best professor I've had in college during my 51 years on this planet. PERIOD
I had Joe for Chem 101 fall semester and he was awesome. He made me really like chemistry. I understood almost everything. I would take all of his chemistry classes if I had to but since I dont I wont. Lol He responds to emails right away. I really enjoyed his class.
If you are willing to study, and show up for all classes, you will do great. He's an awesome teacher. After all it is a 5 credit class so put in that study time! P.S. Don't buy the textbook. The notes he provides is more than enough to get an A.
AWESOME TEACHER!!! Would take again if I needed to. He gives a lot of motivation, and he is even very clear about what he expects. Gives study guides, do the study guide, do examples from the book and you will pass! He responds to emails quickly and very clear. He even responded while he took his wife on vacation to Florida! Very Well Recommend!
Great professor! Frequently asks class questions during lectures to be sure everyone understands the material. Replies to emails quickly. Don't really need the book at all. Tests and quizzes based off of notes. I got an A in his class. He makes a hard subject easily understandable!
I was a student of Joe for almost 2 years and he is the reason why I love Chemistry. Besides being a great teacher, he is an amazing person. He is kind and funny. You can go to him with any question even if its not related to chemistry, and he would gladly answer. He gives you study problems, which helps tremendously. Do your part, you will get A.
Amazing professor! I dreaded Chemistry and had to retake it due to a time lapse, but JOE was so organized, and an excellent teacher. He gives you everything you need and offers a lot of extra credit. Made the class fun with his goofy jokes as well. If I had anymore CHM classes to take I would definitely seek him out! Can't go wrong with him!
Joe is a great instructor and if I had to do it all over again, it would definitely be with Joe. He teaches you what you need to know and what he teaches you is on the test. He gives alot of extra credit and he is super funny. You have to study!!, but he makes it easy on you. If you need to take chemistry, take Joe, I promise you won't regret it..
Among the best professors at STLCC! Passionate about chemistry and science! More then happy to help struggling students! If you study, you will do fine!
Excellent professor
I was not a fan of Joe. We had a different teacher for lab, so him babying us in lecture made my life so much harder because the other teacher wanted us to critically think, where he did made everything too easy, and basically gave us the answers. So you don't really learn much. Would not take him again, bc I don't know anything about chemistry.
Great teacher! Had him for Chem 106 and his lectures were amazing. Very thorough when giving instructions and helpful with labs. Had plenty of office hours which allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed. 100% would take again!
TAKE JOE! He is a STANDOUT teacher. I went into this dreading science, it is the last class I needed to graduate and now I'm thinking about how much I might want to teach science. You're gonna work but you're gonna learn and he explains his expectations and what is important VERY clearly. He is the best teacher at STLCC by far. Do yourself a favor.
I tok a hybrid intro to Chemistry class with Joe. He said on the first day of class that if you would meet him halfway, he would meet you the rest of the way. That was absolutely true. As long as you listened to his lectures online, did the homework, and showed up in class 1 day a week, you would get an A.
Dr. Wilson is fantastic. I had him for both Chem 105 and 106. I'm not going to lie -- he is tough, but he wants his students to succeed and is always accessible during his office hours and via email. Make sure to do the lecture and supplemental problems and keep up with the lecture outline videos. Also, he's very strict about his lab rules.
If you think that taking a hybrid class is not for you thats fine. I thought the same thing. However Joes class is really easy to understand. He gives you every thing you need to know and every question you email him willl be answered. He is upfront, professional, caring and very knowledgeable. You wont regret taking this class.
He is a great teacher you guys I took a chem class b4 and failed horribly but I withdrew. Joe gives you notes, outlines, videos, and answers all your questions. I DID NOT like chemistry he makes it so much easier I have a 75% right now because I did not study for quizzes ch 1 and 2 because of my home life. and its hybrid a class. I will have an A!
Take the hybrid class! It's easy if you do what you're supposed to and then show up once a week for the quiz/test period + lab. Nice guy. Good online lectures with outline provided. All quizzes and tests multiple choice. Strictly about lab rules, but cool on everything else and always encouraging to ask for help if you need it. A+
Joe is a great professor. I took his hybrid course and Im so happy I did. If keep up on your required reading, practice problems , and show up once a week for a multiple choice quiz and lab then you shouldnt have any issues getting an A. Dont purchase the book, just the lab manual. He is very personable and encourages you to ask for help.
"Joe" was one of my favorite professors in a very long time. His explanations are extremely clear he is extremely accessible during, before & after class. He gives study guides for test & finals. I haven't had Chemistry in over 25+ yrs & was hospitalized during course still ended up with a good grade. Awesome Professor! Would retake!
Joe is an amazing professor! Joe is very honest and upfront about his expectations. Joe is one of the best teachers at STLCC. I recommend Joe for any chemistry class that's needed for your major. JOE IS the GOAT! "Greatest Of All Times."
Joe is an amazing professor. He's great at chemistry, and you can tell he enjoys teaching it. He tries to make things understandable for his students, and he makes himself available after class. He is very understanding and helpful. I recommend Joe to anyone needing to take chemistry!
Dr. Wilson or Joe was a decent laidback instructor. There was just a lab and test day. His online lectures left a lot to be desired. There weren't enough practice problems to properly prepare for tests. BEWARE of his testing policies. He does not return tests and his rules for viewing them are strict. The hybrid class just wasn't enough for me.
You don't need a book for the class. He provides power points that you can print for free in the library. You must read power points, do practice problems and attend lab to pass the class. The test are multiple choice. There is no extra credit. He have office hours and will help you if you do not understand material. Call him Joe.
Easy Grader - gives lots of partial credit Skips a lot from the textbook Test are exactly like the supplemental practice; if you can do the supplemental practice then you can pass the tests with no problems
Joe is hands down the best teacher I have ever taken in my life. He cares so much about his students and their success. Hes simplifies the material so its easy to understand. I took it over the summer was passed with a 97%. Information is straight forward if you study you will get an A. I wish he taught other classes. I will defiantly miss him!
He provides the subject of this class subjects in a clear way. One of the best instructors.
Very great professor. I took him for Chem 105 and if you followed his lecture notes you would pass. Exam questions are really similar to homework questions and he will always help when you ask
Best teacher i have had hands down. He makes Chemistry very understandable. He post all of his lectures online in case you need to hear it again. If you follow his lecture notes and Lab book you are guaranteed to pass. He is always there to help you every step of the way and answer any questions you may have.
I have one word for this man and that is the GOAT Greatest Of All Time when it comes to Chemistry,
Joe is an awesome professor! I highly recommend him to anyone taking Chem. He makes it so understandable and is willing to help you if you have any questions. If you take his hybrid class make sure you don't procrastinate!
My class was online organic chemistry The material is definitely difficult, and the class is primarily self-taught. However, he gives you as many resources as possible to prepare you for the test. He is always available by email. I can tell that Wilson cares for his students and wants them to succeed. Take his class if you're willing to work hard!
I was so nervous about chemistry. The way he broke things down it was next to impossible not to pass. He only asked that you do your part and he will get you through. Amazing teacher
If you actually want to pass chem, and learn something along the way, Joe is the way to go! He makes things understandable and gives you many resources, his recorded lectures are great and he walks through problems with you. His office door is also always open and he will help you as much as you need. Awesome professor! HIGHLY recommend!
Joe is THE BEST!!! I took his eight week summer course, and he makes the material so understandable and relative to real life. You can tell this man is truly passionate and cares so deeply about his work, and wants to see his students succeed. You won't need a book (for 101 anyway) because he has put all the material together for you! The G-O-A-T!!
If you can't pass with Joe, you won't be able to pass with anyone else. I took his Chem 101 hybrid courrse this summer. Lecture videos were online which I appreciated because I could go back and rewatch videos as needed. He does a great job breaking down the material so you will understand. Know everything on his study guides and you'll do fine!
JOE IS THE BEST!! He meets you in the middle, he always lets you know what will be on the test. He has his lectures online and he is so caring. Just study what he tells you to study and you'll be okay!
Great profesor
Took over summer great instructor hes thorough his power points will help you a lot on blackboard. Great instructor. Test were fair. Once you figure out a study routine you will be fine.
Ok, "hilarious" may be a stretch. But, if you like corny science jokes you're in for a treat. Professor Wilson is amazing and he really knows his stuff. A true nerd. Explains everything in great detail and in a manner that is easy to understand. His class is a lot of work, but if you really want to understand chemistry, this is the guy.
BEST, professor ever. Truly one of the fairest instructors in terms of grading and points and tests , and truly cares about his students and whether they understand the information and is always reiterating that we can always ask him any question we have during class as well as outside of class.
His tests are not designed for you to sit there and work them through. You need to do the problems from memory. Which translates into doing your homework, going to office hours show him where you're stuck. He's not handing out A's like candy on Halloween night. With that said it's very possible to do well in Joe's class. 100% Recommended.
If you have failed or you are currently failing chemistry, its more than likely because of your professors teaching style. With a course as difficult as chemistry things have to be explained more in depth and Joe is great at doing that. Certain things that I couldnt wrap my brain around Joe explained with ease. Pay attention and you will pass.
He is awful and very rude. I dont understand how he received so many great comments. Do not take his class for chemistry.
I think this was his first online class ever! he made everything due MONDAY & WEDNESDAY at 5:00 pm if your late he gives you a zero. His class wasn't hard at all but people have jobs everything shouldn't be due around that time an he was so UNCARING! he gave me 2 zeros for being 2-5 minutes late!
Be ready to study.
Mr. Wilson was okay, but the hardest grader. I am not just talking about a stickler to turning your work in at the deadline. I took his class online, so every lab had to be turned in online with a specific fine name. If you even missed a SINGLE DASH OR SPACE he would take points off for an incorrect file name which would lower your grade. Terrible.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
HIGHLY recommend! He made the lectures really digestible and very understandable. He really cares about what he teaches and that makes it more enjoyable as a student. He is pretty strict about following very specific guidelines but don't let that scare you. Follow the guidelines, study & you'll be great. He is SUPER responsive if you need help.
Dont take him he is not what they said.
I took Joe prior to me entering the nursing program. I LOVED HIM! He really influenced my love for chemistry and truly brought out the nerd in me. He gives you the syllabus a MONTH ahead of time to prepare and it was a cake walk. He even gives you walk through videos for problems and tells you what to know for tests and quizzes. Very intelligent!
Joe was the best teacher I have ever had at STLCC! I took this class in order to apply for the nursing program and glad I did. His lectures was prerecorded and walked you through step by step of how to do the problem and what to know. He made me LOVE chemistry again! If I could rate him higher, I would. GREATEST. TEACHER. EVER. Miss you Joe!
Great professor
