Wacky!

Mr. Zimmerman is one of my favorite teachers at CFCC. He is intellecutal and amazing. There is some sort of mysteriousness about him. He is sexy and he knows his stuff.

What an amazing man! So smart and charming. OOO! More than a teacher, he really becomes your friend. He encourages and inspires your dreams. There's just something about him....

I learned a lot in his class. He knows a lot about literature and movies.

Dr. Zimmerman is very interested in the success of his students. At my request, he & I reviewed my work. He spent a great deal of time w/ me & was specific as to how I could improve my writing. His passion for literature is obvious. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his class to other students.

Mr. Zimmerman is awesome. He really knows his stuff! He is very passionate about literature and always willing to help.

The course was on-line but he left alot of feedback and was very encouraging!

Mr Zimmerman made a class that I wanted to take even more interesting than I thought. He is an amazing professor, and I was lucky to get into the class. He is very knowledgable about movies, and has seen enough to know how to comment on everyone of them. This is class to be taken if you want to work hard, but enjoyable every minute.

This is a fast paced course that is laid out well, it is almost impossible not to get an “A”, all’s one has to do is not be lazy and do the work. If you have any problems write Mr. Joe Zimmerman and ask for help, he will help he even called me at my house when I needed him for help. thanks Joe I enjoyed your class and would recomend to everyone.

I have had Mr. Z. twice now and enjoyed his class both times!!!

Mr Zimmerman is a great teacher he loves to go over what you can improve on and how to make your writing or analyzing better. He communicates well with his students and is always willing to help you out. As long as you follow his directions you should have no problems.

This is my second class withMr. Zimmerman, and he is a great professor. His syllabus is very easy to follow. When taking an online class you may run into some gliches but Mr. Z always compensates for you to catch up. You will not regret taking any of his classes.

I learned so much and it became evident how much time and effort Mr. Zimmerman put in when he designed this course. He is an excellent professor and always helped me out with my assignments- he was punctual in repsonding with any of my questions/concerns and was always very complimentary of my work- he's one awesome teacher!

Used a limit on number of words required for a task when he could have added the words "or more". Other than that, he is an excellent teacher who gives positive feedback on your hard work. He also gives students one chance to correct one task in case of a misunderstanding of the assignment. I trully learned a lot from this instructor.

Joe Zimmerman is an incredible instructor. Even though the class I participated in was online, it felt like he was with me the whole way. He always gives plenty of feedback for assignments. I mostly enjoyed being complimented on my "A" work. Few instructors will compliment as well as critique. Don't miss this class!

Make sure you actually do the reading for class! He likes to randomly call on students starting from day one of class. Great teacher with very fair grading who loves what he teaches! Loved the class!

Quirky..and I love it! He's so great. Knowledgable, insightful, fun and challenging. He really draws you into the discussions and helps you learn the material. He's cute too :)

This guy is awesome! He has a very easy syllabus a two year could follow. He will laugh at his own jokes and probably not laugh at yours..BUT he was a BLAST..He is an awesome teacher and loves what he does..I would take his class in a heart beat..he loves to call on people so be prepared..and he will most likely pick on you!!

Zimm and I weren't exactly buddies.I'm not a morning person and his class was in the morning. Poor guy! I messed him up a little because I actually read the work and knew my stuff despite appearing as if I didn't. He does like to pick, but if you pick back, it totally throws him off his game. I found him to be quite amusing. I like being Amused....

Was online course. But the one time we all met he was pretty fun and very relaxing. When he returned our task he was very helpful if something needed improvment and/or complimented me on what i did well.

He doesn't care too much about grammar, but content. Always have time for students and help them on the essays. Yes, it's hard to get good grade, but he does everything he can. And of course, he's just funny. Highly knowledgeable about the materials. Highly recommended.

mr. z was a good teacher. his class wasn't hard at all. everything was spelled out pretty well as far as what he wanted for the class. he knew his stuff! he always comments on both the weak and strong points of your work. overall he was a good teacher and i would take another one of his classes.

This class was fairly easy, but it did require quite a bit of time. The professor is passionate about this class, and you can get an A if you spend the time.

I enjoyed this class more than waht I expected. I actually saw older movies that I thought i would not like, boy I was Wrong. I can definitley say that I l Learned something in his calss. Mr. Zimmerman was very helpful and understanding with me and I thank him for that.

Easy easy class. Very time consuming but extremely easy. If you're looking for an easy A or GPA boaster, this class is for you. It was online so there wasn't too much communication with Z but he was very quick with grades and email responses..

Super class to take.... took it for Summer B, Online and finished 2 weeks before end of the semester. I HIGHLY Recommend this class.

This class is online, so some ppl may not be interested, but with Mr. Z you can't get much better than that. I've had for him this FIL2400 & ENC1102 and he's by far my favorite. I have to warn, he's got a very dry, witty sense of humor that you'll either love or hate. He's definitely knows his stuff when it comes to Eng. & Film. Love him.

Pretty straightfoward...utalize the book for tests...portfolios are super easy...he doesnt seem as passionate about this class as he was with others....good class though...

Good Teacher

He is passionate about literature and knows how to get students interested. He does call on people in class so be prepared. Lots of group work and writing, but will read first drafts of essays before you turn it in if you ask him.

Took his honors lit class last term. I learned a lot but there was lots of work. We read two novels--Frankenstein and Pride and Prejudice. Also requires presentations in front of the class. Everybody participates in the class. Challenging. Knows his stuff.

Taking this course online. Its very well organized and clear. He gets back to you right away if you have questions. Students have a lot of freedom as to movies they work on. Is fair in grading.

Fair. Cares about students. Don't came late to class.

Mr. Zimmerman makes this class fun and extremely flexible. This is a completion course that for the most part you chose the tasks you want to work on, the quizzes you want to take, and the grade you want to earn. If you like movies, I extremely recommend this course.

The class was very informative and I learned quite a bit. Zimmerman was so helpful that I took him for two classes.

His class exposed me to different movies and taught me what goes on behind the scenes. It has helped me distinguish the good movies and appreciate them more. He was very helpful and responded back almost immediately.

So much work involved in the online class. The work is not hard, there is just a lot of it. Keep up with your assignments week to week!

He is a great teacher! I really enjoyed his class. It tends to be quite a bit of work but it is not too hard. He is very clear on instuctions and very helpful when you need him! I can't wait to take his film class!

I have had Mr. Z for two classes now. He is laid back but professional. He gives quizzes almost every day so you have to come to class prepared. He lets you know what to work on to improve your writing. He gets everybody involved with class discussions, not just a few.

Good course. Lots of reading and writing. Mr. Zimmerman expects everybody to particpate in the class. Good sense of humour.

I took this course online and highly recoomend it. Mr.z is clear on what he wants and grades fair.

Can be a jerk at times. Wants everyone to have precise answer on the quizzes. Gives extra credit which is the only nice thing about him.

Helped me a lot with my writing outside of class. Prepared the class for the final exam which is really hard. Enjoys teaching, but doesn't have much patience for immature students.

My average for the semester was 78 and he wouldn't give me two points I needed for a B. Now I am going to lose my scolarship.

I took his class hybrid this semester.It was easy and he grades fairly.Just get on his good side at once, and it'll be smooth sailing.

This class was definitly fun! If you do not like movies and cannot dedicate time to watch movies that I know you have not seen, don't take this class. Other than that this class is a must take. Quizzes are easy and lots of movie options. Plus even the required task films are good!!

I love Mr. Zimmerman I took him for 1102 he is a great teacher! I do not recommend taking this class if you do not have time to watch the movies. They are all good though and it helps you step out of the box

I took his Film class online during the summer term. It was a lot of work, as most summer courses are, but I enjoyed everything I did. The movies took me out of my comfort zone, and I'm now a fan of foreign film :) He is an English Prof, so he expects quality writing. If you enjoy movies, this is a great class! Not as easy as it sounded though.

Good teacher. He gets straight to the point, is a reasonable grader, and has a sense of humor that needs time to get used to. He likes class participation and likes to have class discussions on the assignments. Gives extra credit opportunities. Assignemnts are given wayy in advance. He also gives the grade you deserve. Take him!

Mr. Z is a great teacher. I took this as an online course. He was very clear on instructions, tests, etc.I made an "A". I have him now for a literature class which is very fun. In class you will get called out on to talk and he invovles you in discussions. Lectures are interesting. Take him!

Prof. Zimmerman's online class was easy. Make sure you keep up with the Portfolio Tasks, read all the stories- just in case one is on a quiz, and write good essays and you'll get good grades. The final exam is kind of hard because it is for all of Enc1102. So know the terms he gives for the final and you'll do fine. Nice teacher and good class.

This class is strictly an online course. The instructor is self-explanatory as to the requirements to achieve a good grade in this class. It is fun yet it entails many hours of work to earn a good grade. It also allows you to expand your horizons to different types of films and how they are produced and shot - very interesting.

I like that you are able to choose the movies you want to watch for the most part and when and how you do the assignments. Very fair class, and very good teacher. This class is a lot of fun! The expectations are clear and easy to follow. As long as you fulfill the point requirements for whatever grade you want, you're good to go! After watching the movies, the tasks do require some of thought, so this is not the class you want to slack off in.

I had this class online and I can honestly say that it was one of the best courses I have ever taken in college. Professor Zimmerman was very helpful-- he answered any questions that I had and he replied quickly. He was very clear in what he expected out of the class and wanted us to put effort into the coursework. Easy A.

Great teacher!!! I took the online course and really enjoyed it. You pretty much get to pick whatever movies you want to view. However, it is a lot of work but as along as you follow the instructions you do fine!!

This is a good class if you are self motovated. You have complete control, you decide what grade you want to acheive and earn the points to acheive it. I would recommend this course but during the summer semester it is a lot of work.

He ran a fantastic course, and was always available. Definitely one of the more fun classes I have taken. Highly recommended.

Great Feedback and great sense of humor

This class was awesome. I learned alot i did not know about films. As long as you do your work and follow directions the class is a breeze.

Took his online class so I did not have any face to face interaction with him. He seemed genuinely nice from the emails I recieved back after turning in a task. You have to work in his class so don't expect to slack and get by. Syllabus was quite clear and his response time through email was fairly quick.

This class gave me the opportunity to escape from the real world and enjoy the world of film, while earning credit towards my education at the same time. Mr. Z is passionate about this class and made the class enjoyable.

Mr. Z is a phenominal proffessor and pushes you to work harder. He showed me discipline at the end of a the semester. And I need a true kick in the ass. The online film class work is creative writing basically after you watch a film. Answer the questions in your tasks, follow college level writing standards and watch freakin films! how cool

Mr. Zimmerman does whatever is in his power to make you a better writer. He explains everything so there are little to no questions on his expectations. If you need assistance he will respond to emails in a timely fashion. Great teacher recommend to anyone.

This was a great class. You learn to really watch a movie, look at camera angles, try to think what the director is thinking.This was a summer course, I wish I c ould have done all the tasks. Online course requires a lot of time. He is EXTREMELY organized and there was never any confusion. He grades a little hard because he expects fundamentals of good writing. Easy class to pass if you are self motivated.

Good professor. The rumors about him just keep flowing. How many students has he been with? He's openly flirtatious and it's flat out wrong. Knows his material. That's the only good thing.

The class was excellent, He perfectly lays out everything that is needed for the grade you want, I highly recommend this course to anyone, it is one of the better choices for Hum B. As long as you do do the work that is asked of you, you can get as high of a grade as you want.

I took Film2400 in Summer A and as long as you kept on top of your tasks and preparing for the tests you are fine. It's an easy class and the teacher is helpful although a bit strict in regards to the composition of essays since he is an English teacher as well.

This is a hard class to get through. It might seem like an easy A class, but let me tell you, the work is difficult and the expectations are high.

As long as you keep up with the work and readings you will do great. He lays the course out clearly so you know just what to do. I would recommend this teacher for 1102.

Very good teacher. Is very interested in helping students write better. We read some great stories, but I didn't like the poetry section. I thought I would hate the Shakespeare play but I ended up enjoying and understanding it.Prepared the class for the final exam. "The medium is the message!"

Awesome teacher. Wish I could take him for more classes. He always makes himself available to help and is extremely helpful in explaining the course material. Reading the material is mandatory for passing quizzes and tests, but he makes sure the material is clearly understood.

Demands a lot of reading and writing. He is hard on grading papers. Must read and study hard for test.

Took this class over Summer A and it was pretty easy. He sets up all of the assignments the first day and you submit them in any order you want. Tests were fairly easy. Would definitely recommend taking over the summer. You will be done before the last day of class if you work ahead.

Just finished this class. If you keep up with the work every week it is very easy. You have to watch a silent movie and an international movie. You have to write about your favorite director and actor. If you take the course make sure you turn in work consistently. The quizzes are about technical stuff in the book, pretty easy.

Love Mr Zimmerman's Film class, you will never view a film in the same manner.

The professor provides a lot of feedback and you have the opportunity to make corrections to your work. The instructions are very clear cut.

I took this course online and this is a great professor. He makes it very clear what you need to do to get the grade you want in the course. Hard grader but good teacher. Expects a lot of classroom discussion. He loaned everyone in class a copy of the textbook for the semester.

Mr. Zimmerman is a pretty good professor. The class was kind of hard, even for an English major. There are several quizzes throughout the semester, some of which are announced, some are pop. If you do the reading (which can be a lot) and pay attention during class, you will probably be fine.

He is a great teacher, and his instructions were quite concise. He was not too hard on the grading and was very fair. So, all in all, an excellent teacher. He is pro.

Very interesting class. This class opens your eyes on what the art of film truely can show us. The teacher is very helpful and doesnt just send a pass or fail grade. Took this class for my Humanities B credit, expecting it to be boring. I actually learned so much in this class, and it was really interesting. He offers a lot of feedback on assignments and makes it clear on how to succeed in the class. Great teacher! :)

I really liked the class, I wa nervous because my comp 1 professor was terrible but Professor Zimmerman was very helpful and although it was an online class it was a great experience I already recommended the class to a friend!

The class was online. However, this did not prevent professor Zimmerman from doing a great job teaching this class. Truly i have learned a great deal this semester in regards to writing and important literature fundamentals. I enjoyed this class very much.

Ok, if you need to take ENC 1102, and you want to do it online, THIS IS IT! Zimmermans online setup has everything you'll need to stay up to date and n line wit what you need to use. The quizzes are tricky, but use your book and you'll be ok! Took this as a summer course and if you just do what he says you'll be fine..its no sweat. DO IT!

Good class. Took this class as a hybrid. I loved his methods of teaching, and the writing tips he gives in class really helped out. He encourages his students to become greater writers. I'm taking his hybrid class again next semester for ENC1102. Thanks, professor.

Very clear, and doesn't throw surprises at you on tests. Study guides make sense, lectures are efficient and he does not dodge questions. If you want to LEARN and not just pass a class, Zimmerman is for you.

Took this class online. For a lit class this is easy. In the beginning of the semester he will make it seem like if its tough. Its really not. Just read what you're suppose to read. Last section is "film" you watch 3 MOVIES and do an evaluation on them. Really nothing to it.

Loved the class. Professor was intelligent, humorous and class was thoroughly enjoyable. Learned a lot. Highly recommend this professor. Never had an issue with any of the quizzes or tests. Heard lots of other students complain about other professors, but Zimmerman gets how to run a good class.

Mr. Zimmerman is the best English instructor on campus. I took his Hybrid class, which turned out great. I loved listening to his lectures, and as long as you pay attention in class and don't wait to the last second to turn in work you will do fine. He is very funny and great with helping students. Take this film course! Even if you don't need this course for your degree, you should take it for just the experience. At first I didn't think I would learn much in this course, but boy was I proven wrong! This course has opened my eyes to cinema, and I will never look at films the same way again. This was the funnest course I have ever taken.

I have had professor Zimmerman in the past. He is an excellent teacher. He gives great feedback so that you are able to improve. He teaches and instructs which is not common enough from other professors and instructors.

Took Zimmerman for FIL2000. Great class and great professor. Be aware though you MUST work hard for an A but it is worth it. He did a good job of making me appreciate films in a way I hadn't before. If you don't mind the workload I highly recommend the class.

At first I was a little put off at his personality but grew to enjoy his class and his humor. The work isn't too hard for an honors class. There was a decent (normal) amount of reading from the textbook. We had to read two books and write two papers also. The exams weren't too hard either. Got an A.

There is a lot of work when taken online, but he is very helpful and quick to return emails. He also gives great feedback, whether it be positive or negative.

Top teacher at cf, extremely fair to students, all you have to do to get an A is participate and seriously show interest by meeting out of class to go over your essays. He has always went out of his way to help me, i know he will do the same for you, definite must take! i took him for both enc1101 and enc1102-minimester. "THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE"

I took this class as a hybrid and can't wait to have two classes with him next semester! Mr. Zimmerman is definitely not an easy teacher, but he will do ANYTHING to help his students. Do what he says and you'll pass the class with flying colors!

Took this class over twenty years ago. It was easier then because there weren't so many films. they were all silent and in black and white. Joe and I were younger then.

Just finished the minimester 8 week course with a B+ He makes it interesting. There is a lot of writing but lots of topics to choose from. I like to read anyway so the reading wasn't that bad for me. Some good stories in the book. I didn't like that attendance is required in his class. He doesn't really lecture-lots of class discussions.

Awesome class, took it online, loved the layout of it and how you determine your own grade. He's super cool and lays out exactly what he wants, so if you don't pass it's your own fault. I would recommend.

There were quite a few tasks in this course, but you get to choose which ones to do so make sure that you stay organized. The book is used for 5 quizzes. He gives very good feedback with your work.

There are several tasks to turn in for this course. Keep up with the tasks and quizzes and this course isn't that difficult. Teacher responds promptly to email questions.

Mr. Zimmerman was a great teacher, even though it was an online course. His expectations were very clearly stated in his syllabus and he kept in good communication throughout the course to help keep us on track.

I wouldn't say the class was super hard but not the easiest either. There is a lot of short stories to read and a quiz about every 3 wks on the stories. Also, this class is a great class to take online.

I ABSOLUTELY love Mr. Z! At first, I was a little nervous because he is so quirky but he just does that to grab your attention. Class attendance is a must. I took this class during a mini-mester and I ended with a B! He is extremely sarcastic bur funny. Makes the Class enjoyable and our class the discussions were the best. Take this class!

The professor, although he did have dates for when you have to turn in assignments, chose to give students plenty of time to complete them without pressuring them too much. Zimmerman was very fair in his grading, even rewarding hard-working students with extra credit if they did well enough on assignments.

Professor J. Zimmerman is the epitome of professionalism. Very easy to communicate with and addresses valued points and understands important situations. Excellent control of the course and superior in his discipline.

While a student will have to put time and effort into this class, it is worth it. You will begin to enjoy movies in a new way. If you pay attention when reading the text book, the tests will not be too hard. Be mindful of the due dates. Professor Z is going to shoot straight when it comes to feedback. He will let you know if your work is on point.

Mr. Zimmerman is a very tough grader, however he will prepare you. I took him my first semester in college for ENC1101 and every paper I have written since his class I have gotten an A on. In ENC1102 expect to put the work in, but also know he always makes himself available to help in any way he can!

Professor Zimmerman is a great teacher. He is very up front on what is expected of you. If you do your reading all test will be easy. You must stay on top of your portfolios. He always answers email, and even corrected a test that I proved was wrong, and thanked me for it. I would take any class he taught.

This class seems like a lot of work, and it kind of is but as long as you treat it like a fun opportunity (Watching movies IS a fun opportunity) you'll do fine. It's a lot of writing, but it's on fun topics. Over all, the class was fun and not too difficult. Also, there is a strict schedule so be sure to stick to that.

This professor is amazing! He is really good at explaining the difficult things to learn. Come to class, do your readings-which are interesting-and learn to grow in writing and you will do just fine in this class. If you ever need help he is there and responds well to emails , great professor!

I took Mr. Z for History and Aesthetics of Film. I feel this course was beneficial for improving my writing and analysis skills, b/c throughout the class you critique and analyze different films. All the assignments were valuable and interesting, but definitely writing intensive. Mr. Z makes his expectations clear and gives good feedback.

He's really great at getting back to people in a timely manner and fixing whatever problems there might be on his website quickly. Everything needed to get a good grade on his assignments are clearly specified within the assignment itself.

Awesome teacher! I really enjoyed his class I found him easy to follow and his lectures relatable to the material. As long as you follow the reading material and the lectures the class is fairly easy to follow.

It's a literature class, so of course there's tons of reading from the book (though most stories you can find online for free). Very organized professor that has an always-updated schedule online so you know what to read if you miss a class and if there's a quiz the next day. Funny professor that encourages class discussion. Fantastic.

Be warned: there is a test almost every day. Make sure to buy the textbook and read the readings every day. If you do this, as well as pay attention to the lectures (which isnt hard; he has fascinating lectures with plenty of humor), youre almost sure to pass.

Professor Zimmerman is my favorite professor. His lectures are provocative, interesting, and to the point. The professor is clearly seasoned in many subjects making his class all the more interesting. Very fair guy, offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. He is very helpful and student friendly. I came out of this class with lots of new info.

This class and this professor aim to fool you. The goofy upside-down staff photo. The personality that can best be described as worldly, jovial and jaded all at once. A genuinely fun class to be in, I was never bored. However, what lurks in the shadows are tests that defy you to just read an outline. You will read or you will fail. Highly recommend

Professor Zimmerman had interesting lectures, and wanted everyone to get involved. If you show up and listen you will do fine. It is really easy to access help in this class if you do need it. Most of your essays will be turned in on canvas. He does do pop quizzes every day before class, but their easy.
