I was advise by a student not to take Prof. Baker, but nevertheless I still end up in his class. His testes are pretty much what he taught in class and if you didn't do so well he gives extra credit by assigning quiz, homework or a project which benefit YOU in the long run. I do recommend his class if you want to get the best out of your course.

Prof. Barker is one of the best prof. at BMCC. Not only he explains everything to the smallest details, he also makes sure that every student understands the concept. Professor Joel Barker is the best, i took him for Gov & Not For Profit last semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He gives out sample questions for the test. In addition, he gives credit for work done and participation in class. He is very funny though. Prepare to learn something and he is very fair. In other words------generous.

Prof Barker makes sure you understand and know how to apply what you study to real life. He jokes a lot but he's very serious. He gives lots of HW and quizzes - but it's best for you bc you practice more, it helps you to understand material. You have questions - he's always ready to answer. He's a fair grader - you'll get the grade you deserve.

Professor Joel Barker is a great professor, he has the students interest at heart, not here for the paycheck, however please do not play with his homework or else you will be sorry.

Prof. Barker is a knowledgeable person. He likes students who are interested to read. He emphasizes on basic things. However, it is difficult to dig deep into the course due to time constraint. Four exams, 15% each and lot of quizzes almost from every chapter. He considers when students cannot get enough in exams. He tutors students outside of class.

Failed the first time but if was my fault second time around ALL STAR HE TAKES HIS TIME and makes you feel comfortable. Tutors students and always available when you need him . Just remain focus and dont be afraid to ask questions

Best Professor I've had thus far at BMCC. Very passionate about teaching and wants the students to learn. Class participation and doing the HW is a must! Professor Barker is really well educated and know what he is teaching. Im really bad at math and i though that i will fail his course. To my surprise , i'm not only passed his class and got an A, but fell in love with accounting. So, take this professor and soak his knowledge like a sponge and everything will be all right!

If he knows that his students have a busy schedule hell even let you take home more than half of your exams. I took him for ACC 241, 150, 330, 122, And 231. He is an amazing and astonishing professor who cares about his students and their grades. The 12 reviews written about him was definitely false. This professor is great. the truth is that You get the grade you receive. He is very clear and straight forward. Makes it simple to pass his class so if you failed his class, you just didn't do the work!

He was one of the best professors I've ever had. All his assignments are real life related issues such as mortgaging a house or financing vs leasing a car. Attendance is flexible and as long as you do the work, you get full marks. He's a friendly guy with extreme levels of patience. you can enjoy the class and learn a lot and as well as an easy A.

Acc 330 and 430 are hard subjects no matter who teaches it. Barker does a good job making sure you learn and understand the material. If he gives you a pop quiz, it because you might be failing the class and he is trying to bring your grade up. Barker cares about his students. Unfortunately, some of them are lazy and ungrateful.

I chose this professor last semester because I saw the ratings here and I made my best choice by choosing him. He is the smartest guy and the best professor at BMCC. I'm going to be totally honest. He is not easy you must really work for the mark. He's very wise amd knows a lot. Ask questions amd if you don't understand ask he is always ready to go in depth and explain. unlike the other tax professors the group project is big and you have to stay ontop of it. The exams are a bit easy but do take good notes.

Professor barker is amazing. He gives 4 tests. Drops the lowest grade, gives extra credit, and gives the quiz a few days before and only changes a few numbers. Im taking him for 2 more classes next semester. He is very clear and helpful. You will always know what to study, the lectures are fun, being late or gone a few times isnt a big deal.

Professor Baker never gave up on anyone. All the laughter and cries in his class made me forget all about the difficult times outside of class. Without a doubt one of the BEST professors at BMCC. Great sense of humor. He makes learning ACC FUN and ENTERTAINING. Best part? He makes his students feel COMFORTABLE to talk & discuss the topics. Review the PPTS on BB, do the assignments, ATTEND and PARTICIPATE and you will pass.

I took the Accounting Cycle Workshop and it was GREAT! I've been trying to get a seat in his class ever since, they fill up FAST! Professor Barker fosters engagement and participation in class, the workshop was helpful for me as I was initially struggling grasping the concepts, I ended up passing ACC122 with an A!

Prof. Barker class was very fun to be in. Participation is a must here and gives you oppurtunities to do so. It might seem like he is picking on you but he just wants you to engage because that is how you learn. He made the class easy to learn and I actually love accounting now. There is hw every week and a DB. Highly recommend if you want to learn
