He is very helpful and nice ...He doesnt like it when people whine about how easy the work is!! Its those who complain that dont do well on the tests.. so shut up cuz no one wants to hear it!!!

i took him for both my math classes, and loved him really cares about his students and wants you to learn. everyone should take him!!!

He has all the qualities of a typical math teacher. I got a B in his class. Its as hard as you make it, do your homework and study. It doesn't get much easier than that in math.

HInt: do the practice test on his web site & if you can do the work there don't bother with the homework. His pratice test are very simiular to what you will see on the actual test.

Mr. Berman is a pretty good teacher, he explains everthing preety good. But you have to do the homework and the practice test on his website to pass the class.

I wish I had him as a teacher while I was in high school! He is everything you want in a math teacher, always eager to help you and loves watching his students learn. As long as you are willing to learn he is there for you. Trouble in math? TAKE HIM!

Very easy if you listen to the lectures, taking notes is the key. Study the notes. He pretty much tells you what will be on the tests. If you don't understand something he will explain it until you understand. Very good all around.

Great teacher!! If you do the homework and the labs and you can pass all of his practicce tests than its an easy A. Practive tests are alomost exact to the actual tests. Dont understand he will help you until you do. Fast paced with the TI83 calculator

Mr. Berman is fairly nice and really knows his stuff. Just make sure to study the lecture notes and take the practice tests online and you'll do fine. Very cut and dry on tests and homework, but fair.

Very knowledgable, little extra credit, 10pts extra credit on tests. Lots of homework online, he is great about answering email questions. does talk down when you should get it but don't.

He is a great math teacher and will be taking him next semester. He likes problems like (M+A+P+X+K+R-P-K)

Mr. Berman is the answer to the Mathmatically challenged. He is honest, to the point and very knowledgeable. WARNING if you do not like homework, work, testing, stay home and save your money!!!!!

Mr. Berman is the best math teacher I have ever had! He takes the it slow and step by step. He gives extra credit, he's easy to talk to and doesn't have a problem with repeating the math if you didn't get it the first time. He also gives ALOT of homework, the more points the better!

Joel is a great professor. I took him for intermediate algebra and college algebra. Before i tool his class, i didn't know i could do so well in math. He really helped me understand the concepts, and really broke everything down. He's great! I highly recommend him!

Joel is the BEST math teacher I've ever had, makes note taking CLEAR and easy, never confusing. He always checks to see if you get it before going on. Practice tests available, just like the real ones, make it possible for anyone (this means me) to get an A. DEFINITELY take him if you are math impaired.

Joel is very compassionate towards students. He will not be easy on you, but he will teach you what you need to know and learn. His classes move fast, but he will not leave anyone behind if you get lost. Show up + study =pass. I struggle at math more than most, but I actually learned and understood the material because of Joel. He is a good man.

I like Joel's class. He clearly takes a lot of time into putting the lessons together because almost all of his lectures had an accompanying powerpoint presentation that made everything clear and easy to read. He understands math very well and goes at a decent speed. He has no problem going back if someone doesn't understand. Makes math bareable!

I liked him. Yes his tests are hard, but you just have to go over the quizes (every class) and the (optional) homework that he gives you. I dont think that he had that bad of an attitude. I always went to him for help, and he was always willing to work with me

Joel is a very good teacher, but he will not baby you in College Algebra. Quizzes EVERYDAY, homework is optional, no practice tests. Note taking is made easy, he knows the material and explains it very clearly, but the material is HARD.... Visit him in his office, he is always willing to take time for students and will be glad you came for help.

Hellpful professor. Come to his office and he will help you with all your questions. I highly recommend him.

This teacher taught with clarity and he goes over everything that is on the test, there are no surprises and homework is optional. If you ever need help he's willing to explain further whatever it is that you dont understand. Quizzes every class but they are not hard at all.

ONLINE COURSE - if you keep up with the suggested homework (not just the online homework), you will do fine. Instructor is available for help - if you ask.

He is very nerdy using the powerpoint slides and such. He gives work online and gives some homework. He gives PRACTICE TEST on his online part of the course, which really helps. I have never seen him really caring about people being late, unless like 15 minutes late into class. Kool guy, very very nerdy, but kool <.<;;

Mr. Berman is a great teacher. He knows what he is talking about is willing to help you if you ask. His class is not an esay A if that is what you are looking for but it is not terribly hard. There is a descent amount of HW but use the SPA they help alot! I do recommend him!!

Joel is a great professor. I have failed college algebra 3 times previously and have been getting A's in his class. Explains things in a progressive manner that really helps me to understand. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Joel is an excellent professor & one of the best math professors on campus. He will expect you to know basic math concepts in his class, he isn't going to hold your hand & count to 10 with you. Do not take him if you think you it'll be an "easy A". You earn your grade. He explains lessons crystal clear & is willing to help if you have problems.

I took this class for summer part A. I see a lot of comments coming that he is a bad professor...but honestly, he is a great math professor. He expect you to know the basic concepts and work the new information given. It is a hard class, but he explains everything clearly. It is not an easy A. I got a C in the class...However, I cannot complain.

He's really not that bad! I have an A so far. As long as you make sure you understand the material you should be fine. I don't think he picks on students or makes fun of them when they ask questions..but I guess it depends on how you view it.

Excellent professor! Class is not as hard as I thought, still is very challenging. Course expectations are very clear and the professor explains really good. He is always willing to help if you ask for it. Attendance is important althought not graded. Highly recommend him for people not good at math like me!

Calculus for Bus & Soc Scs Online. Tough subject & tougher online. He gives suggested pace which you should try to follow. He does respond to questions. 3 exams: 2 proctored & 1 comprehensive final...you need to study! It is what it is. If you need help, see a tutor. Berman is fair & available via email, IM, phone, & office.

He is a great professor!! I highly recommend him. He teaches clearly. Trig with him is a piece of cake al least for me. The only negative thing about him is that he could be rude with he answers questions.

Witty professor, I loved his teaching technique! He uses powerpoint slides to teach the class. Overall he gives you what you need to succeed in the class, you just have to pull your own weight and make the passing grade (Turn in worksheets and show up for tests and class)! It wasn't that hard but def. not the easiest. Got a B! I'm Happy!

I hve him online! 1033... it is very time consuming and u have to study. But if you do have time and watch his excellent videos, do the worksheets and the practice tests you should get an A. His practice tests are very similar to the actual tests so DO THEM!!!! there are 4 tests and a final. the rest is all open book(quizes, worksheets..)LOTS OF HW

I had him for Calculus online and let me tell you, it was HARD. Professor Berman is a good guy and genuinely wants his students to succeed, which is always good. The book was worthless though and when you're teaching yourself, it's no easy task! I'd take him again. :)

Nice guy, hard class but SL is offered to help and it does! My test grades rose after I began attending. If you don't do the suggested HW, you wil be lost so it is up to you if you are going to learn anything. I'd take him again.

Awesome professor! Online class has a lecture component, so you feel as if you're in the classrom. Very responsive to students. Grades assignments quickly and gives constructive feedback. Provides many resources to help explain the material.

I had to drop hi class but im taking him again next semester! He was so helpful and really wants you to succeed. i love the hybrid course because while i can do the work online at my own pace i get to see him in class and ask him questions and there is a computer lab he makes himself available for two hours everyday.

Great teacher hands down, he is extremely helpful and he really cares about his students, i took the hybrid course only met once a week but i was always able to contact him, he is a very nice prof and will help you succeed

This hybrid course is basically teach yourself math class with mandatory class and lab time. He is very helpful when you ask questions. There is a lot of work and If I had known what I know now about hybrid classes I would have just stuck to going to a full on taught onsite class.

He is a very helpful teacher.He pushes you to do your best in class. If you are falling behind,he will pick you up and put you back on your feet.I would recommend anyone to take his class.

He is a great professor and as long as you put the effort into the class he will put all his effort into helping you and making sure you get the help you need. Lets you know there are not stupid questions. But be prepared to work through it with him talking you through it til you understand it.

I wish this guy was teaching College Algebra too. His online lectures were extremely helpful. MyMathLab was a bit of a pain and way too picky about the answers, but I still enjoyed the class.

I didn't think the online lectures were helpful. Maybe I just hate online classes, idk this was my first. But I felt it was disorganized too. There were 3 different websites that I had to check plus the syllabus!

Mr. Berman is a pretty good tearcher i would say. Just do your work on time and go to your labs and you will do well!

Prof. Berman is a top notch professor.He is really caring and will go out of his way to assist you if you ask for help. However, this is a college class so do not expect to have your hand held. The coursework is mostly online so it's easy to follow but often requires visits to campus for tutoring or labs to master the material.

I have prof. Berman for Hybrid Inter. Algebra. He is a great prof! He teaches very well, explains everything thoroughly so you can understand.HW and quizzes are easy. The test are tough because u cant use your notes. Best hybrid class! I would def. recommend this professor to anyone. Take his class! I will be taking all his classes that i need

There is a good amount of homework but much of it can be completed rather quickly and the online examples ensure you a good grade if you just put in the time. Berman is fair, accessible, and helpful. I am not a math person and struggled to get a B but I cannot complain about the instruction at all. I would recommend this professor.

Prof. Berman was a great teacher. I took him online. This is college and you should be expected to put in work. He works with you. Just do your part in studying and you will get your A. I got a 109 on the final exam.

Pre-calc was a bit tough, he grades very strictly. If you're going to UCF then he will get you ready for it, however, I am not. I appreciated his concern and passion for his students learning the material! He posted videos all the time which helped tremendously! Overall I would recommend, only if you don't want just an easy A though.

Started with 28 kids ended with 2 kids in the class was very difficult uses real world concepts in two part tests that no one would get right homework is not graded but you have to do it if you even think about passing.

Very organized. Coursework is all set up online, tests are on campus. Lenient on test grades - if he sees you showed the work and just made a mistake, still gives partial grade. Very willing to help explain. Has a YouTube channel with A LOT of videos he created himself for the course - devoted to his profession. Good math professor.

Pretty much, if your not a child you'll pass, his grades are fair, he is a natural at math. Test are somewhat hard but thats because you need to think around alot of things.

So I took professor berman for class 1033c. I have always been horrible at math. I've repeated this math class before in the past and word of advice if you struggle in math take berman he will help you. I did horrible on all my tests but made up for it in other areas. study and you will be fine. His study notes also reflects the exam.

He is fast when it comes to lectures. You SHOULD NOT be left behind for more than one class. He cares about student's success, and he is willing to explain an individual question in class. Just PAY attention and DO the ASSIGNED HOMEWORK even though it will not count for credit since this is going to be your test review and might save your grade.

This class is a lot of work. Homework 3-4 nights a week, and a quiz after each chapter. The tests are a little tough. BUT, his videos for each chapter are amazing. He's super clear, and explains everything well. I do wish he would explain more about how to use the graphing calculator though. He gives you a practice test for each one - study it!!!!!

I've never been strong in math, and if you're looking for an easy A, don't take this class. However, if you want to spend the time actually learning, it's a good class. Homework is easy, you have 10 tries to get the right answer! Quizzes, you have 3 tries. Tests are difficult, but study guide is almost identical - use it! Overall, a good professor.

Only take this class if you need a quick review, if you got an A in calc1, or you have no other choice. Prof Berman will help you if you ask for it. He wants to make this class a rewarding experience. You can really tell that he put a lot of thought in to the development of this course. He said he plans to add additional videos for future course.

Took this class online but wasn't disappointed. Tests are taken by hand on campus, which I liked. We get a PDF of our original test answer sheet back, marked with feedback. Test reviews were excellent and were why I got a perfect score on tests. Homework dates are clear and he gives extra credit for turning it in on time. I never opened the book.

Absolutely fantastic! Disregard the other reviews rating Professor Berman on this website. The people who are leaving Berman bad reviews are the people who don't try in his class and don't put forward effort. If you put in the work and you try in his class Professor Berman goes out of his way to help you understand what you have difficulty with.

In this online class, Joel has very easy-to-understand lectures. There are about 3 homework assignments due each week but they take 10 minutes tops. The quizzes and tests aren't too hard if you learn the material in the lectures and homework. Great set-up in my opinion and he always replies back right away when you email or text.

Took diff. eq online and had a fantastic experience. Lecture videos were super helpful and clear. Resources like practice problems and solution videos were abundant. No surprises on the tests, just like lecture and practice questions, plus guides so you know exactly what to study. Prof. replied very fast to messages. Best structured class I've had.

Professor Berman is a fantastic professor. I took his online Calc II course and you have to be responsible and dedicated to studying on your own to succeed in the course. Professor Berman gives you ALL the tools required to pass his class and the tests mimic the video problems. Calc II isn't easy, don't blame the professor if you suck at math.

Professor Berman was awesome! His lectures really simplified some difficult concepts. They are also very concise, to the point, and provide plenty of examples. His feedback, grading, and responses were almost instant. There are no surprises on his exams. He is very straight forward about what will be on them as well as provides a study guide.

Professor Bermans Online Course is super organized. He offers video and lots of online examples. He tells you what problems to expect on each test. He gives you 3 hours in the testing center to do the do tests so you have plenty of time. He also hand grades your quizzes and tests and scans them back to you graded. Best online class Ive taken!

I took Mac 2312 online class with him in the fall and I loved it. He uses videos which are easier to understand. He is an easy person to contact. He always answers your emails right away. If you watch all the videos and do the assignments and quizzes, you will do fine on the tests. So far, my favorite class.

Great class, I would take it again. Although it is basically you teaching yourself, by reading the textbook Prof. Berman helps out. During the tests he tells you, in canvas, to do ALL of your problems on paper whether they're easy or not. This helps him review the questions you answered w what you worked out. My first exam went from a D to a B.

Professor Joel is a great person, sadly calc 2 was moved online but he had many videos recorded to combat the loss time in classrooms. His videos are very lengthy so I'd suggest anyone who's taking him watch other people's and see their perspective, then watch his videos for specific ways to attack the topic. 4 tests, 1 final, and lots of youtubing

Nothing to complain about him. He has video lectures for every single section, and is also on zoom everyday during office hours to help you. Hw due every 2-3 days, 1 quiz a week. If you are a busy person maybe take someone else. He is a tough grader but his expectations are clear, just do it exactly like the videos. He really cares about teaching.

I meant to do his review a long time ago. Professor Berman is amazing! I took his class online and his contents were in format of videos with very clear lectures. However, with you don't like calculus you might want to take this class in person as I saw many students struggling. But if you love math like myself, TAKE HIM! It was very easy for me.

I took Professor Bermans class back in 2012, randomly thought about him today, his class prepared me for UCF more than any other. I see people complaining about the workload and everything that comes with his classes. He’s doing this to prepare you. He is a good man who will make your transition much smoother.

If you need a good Calc professor, TAKE HIM! Berman made everything very easy to understand. His lectures were clear and to the point, he welcomed questions, and gave lots of partial points on exams. Exam heavy, not much hw, and a few pop quizzes, so study and prepare for exams. He loves students going to office hours, so take advantage of those!

Professor Berman's online class was solid. I liked that he made his own videos and its not just youtube stuff. He kept everything simple and gave good examples. When i did have questions, I emailed him and he answered quickly. Tests were very fair if you have been doing the work. Take him!

Second online class with Berman. His Differential Equations class is excellent too! The class material was really different than the other calculus classes--more application problems and new techniques. Berman does a great job explaining and gives lots of examples! Organized and made his own videos. One of best online teachers I've had!

I took Mac 2312 online with professor Berman on the Spring 2019. Professor Berman was one of the best professor I had. His lectures were amazing, and made everything look easy. The tests are very similar to his lectures. If you watch the videos, and do the assignments, you will do great on the tests, and therefore great in the class.

Joel Berman is easily the best Calculus professor I've ever had. His lectures are engaging and productive. He posts extra practice problems and resources. He will also give out exam study guides that cover everything on the exam. He is very easy to reach, and will help you if you are stuck on something. Definitely recommend!!

During my first semester in college, I took Professor Berman's math class. Let me tell you, there was no way in hell I was going to pass that class without truly paying attention and putting in the work. But in the process of doing so, I fell in love with maths. Great guy! His class time is different than a standard lecture so be prepared. He is very helpful and if his style works for you it can lead you to understanding the material more. The grades are very test heavy but I was able to pass so long as I got one decent test and did all the homework to the highest I could. Overall recommend!

This is a great, math professor. His online course is so clear and organized, you'll know exactly what to do. He even provides individual video feedback on quizzes and tests. Quizzes are short (don't mess up) but reasonable. Laidback prof. but has videos on proofs! Only math prof. that has encouraged me after I ramble about math during after-hours.

This professor has been one of my best when it comes to any Math class I have taken so far, I took him for his online Differential Equations class and his videos are perfect when it comes to explaining concepts. Not only that, but he gets back to you extremely fast if you have any questions. He even has video explanations to help grade tests/quiz.

Great prof with a unique approach. lectures are online along with prep work for the following class where you're expected to tackle problems with a group of peers. I wish this was made clear during registration as I signed up for an in-person class when in reality it was a mixed mode situation (online lec/hw + mandatory attendance 2x/ week)

Took him spring 2024. At the time absolutely hated him. Now having passed Calc 2, 3 and diff all on the first try I have to give Berman all the credit. His teaching method is strange, the class is difficult, extra credit doesn't exist and the quizzes are way too hard. But when all's said and done he sets you up for success. Truly a gem of a class.
