The hardest class I have taken at SHU and its an entry level class. However he is probably the best teacher I have ever had. I could tell you everything about astronomy, but is it worth it for an intro class?

Had him in high school, is a very hard teacher but you actually learn. I know its college and you want easy electives. However, if you are really interested in this class take him because you will know everything you ever wanted to know

This guy rules if you are into astronomy and UFO type stuff.

I loved his class. You learn a lot. He is very enthusiastic about the material he is teaching. I hated his exams. It is all memorization. On his final we had like 60 questions and you have to go into detail with your answers, for example, explain the birth and death of a star. So if you ready to memories take this class. (just to say I did not do well in the class)

Knows what he's talking about. His tests are straight from the notes, but very tedious, all short answer. Alot of information to take in but he gives you a study guide for both the midterm and final. Reading the textbook is optional. He's a really nice guy and the class was very interesting but if you dont like studying dont take him.

Awesome man.... great class, you will realize that you learned a lot when you study and pass his tests.

He is one of the best teachers I've EVER had. As a matter of fact I'm taking him again because of how well he teaches!! The people who rate him so poorly are those who never go to class or just day dream during class. He is extremely interested in his topics and if you ask him he will explain something more clearly. Dr. Block is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is far better than any other I have had yet at SHU. I took his Science and the Bible class and loved it! I learned so much in his class. He is a tough teacher but he is GREAT at what he does.

The people that don't do well in his class are the people that have no desire to do any work at all. Not a big surprise though, hardly any students at this school like to be challenged. He's actually a really easy professor. He tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for the tests; there are no surprises. He's also an easy grader. A+++

He's a good teacher (helpful and exiting), yet this class is not "easy" (especially if your bad at time management-each exam, though straitfoward, requires alot of preparation). Overall, I was happy i took this class, but it was made a little too difficult and involved for a 101 level class.

He is overall a very good professor. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests and as long as you study you will do fine. He usually only uses the text books for examples and things and the only homework he ever gives is to study. I thouroughly enjoyed his class

He is a cool guy. This is my favorite class and i never liked astronomy before this. I love the way he teaches. He makes everything interesting and fun. I'm even thinking about taking another one of his courses just for fun. Cool guy, great class, but must study. Take for science credit.

People that don't do well in Dr. Block's class are just lazy. Yes, he gives a lot of information, but HE TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS ON EVERY TEST! WORD FOR WORD! I took two of his classes and they were SO EASY. In all honesty, people that fail Dr. Block's class should not be in college. Love it or hate it, you all know that I'm right.

What is this garbage that some of you have been saying about Dr. Block? His class is pretty easy. It's not a class where you can not study and pass.. but we're in college, what do you expect? Not only does he give you everything you need for each test, he reviews all the time. There are no surprises on his tests. No papers or presentations. Easy A

I took his science vs. the bible class and it was very difficult for me. I was the only frosh in the class and I worked my butt off to get a good grade. he said i could do an extra credit paper and i never got it back or received a grade...i just got a c for my final grade. he was very diffcult to understand in his lectures about what was important

Block is awesome. I learned so much. He dumbs down science. Non-science people should definitely take Astronomy with him. Also goes over everything in the reading, so reading the book is redundant. He repeats all of his jokes, but he's a cool guy. I loved going to class. Basic Astronomy was incredibly interesting, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Professor Block made this class so interesting. Astronomy is my new favorite thing because of this guy. I learned something knew that i thought i understood everyday. He gives a lot of notes so pay attention but its not jus him talking he gets everyone involved. His stories are interesting and he loves aliens so its awesome. Take the class!

I had Dr. Block for 3 different classes at SHU and he really knows his stuff. just make sure that you study for the midterms and finals and you will do fine. there is not homework so your grade really depends on your tests. He was fantastic and I would take his class again if i could.

All you have to do in this class is sit and listen. I found the course material really interesting, people interested in science will feel the same. Just sit, take some notes, and review before the tests and you'll be fine. I plan on taking this professor again next semester.

Professor Block taught me some of the most interesting things in astronomy class. This class is not easy. I'm about the take the final for astronomy and there is a lot of information on it. Not to say this class is impossible, if you study hard you should be able to pull out with at least a B or higher.

Dr. Block is the best teacher I've had in 16+ years of schooling. I took his astronomy class and his science and the Bible class as well. He will change the way you look at the world around you. His classes changed my entire outlook on life, it sounds crazy but knowledge is extremely powerful. Oblivious people looking for an easy A, stay away!

Prof Block is REALLY into science. He isa great guy undeniably, but if you're looking for an easy science class, DO NOT TAKE ASTRONOMY. VERY VERY HARD. I'm an A-B student and i struggled very hard to get a C in his class. If you're up for a challenge and really want to study hard, take this class.

Took Astronomy and it was pretty tough. Every class made up entirely of rapid note taking so if any class was missed there was no catching up. Not many assignments in the gradebook either so hard to raise grade. But professor is enthusiastic about topic and is always there for extra help if needed.

I took Professor Block for Science and the Bible. He is extremely passionate about his subject, and gets so excited during lectures he screams and yells, and is quite entertaining! It's a challenging course, and the tests are hard, but I seriously have never learned this much in my entire life. You need to study, but great guy!

This man is dope. He is definitely a hard teacher but it is fair if you just study the material. Dr. Block is an AMAZING professor!! This class is hard, but that is what you should expect when taking a college course. Although, his tests are word for word what he says from the lecture. If you put in the time you will be just fine. He is actually a really cool person too. Take the time to introduce yourself to him and to learn about him too!
