He is a very nice professor. He is always on time for his classes, teachs very well.Honestly,I enjoyed his classes alot.He is the one who helped me to think more critically. You'll learn while you enjoy his class.Because,I am not a native speaker,he even helped my language skills too. Thanks a lot Mr EVAN.
He is a good professor, but he really gets distracted when you mention something important from the newspaper that he makes you buy every day. He can spent the whole session on that. One important thing that everybody had to know is avoid coming late, he will fry you in your final grade
At first he definitly rubbed me the wrong way, but once you really get into the class it is so much fun. You will learn alot, most of it is common sense, but it will definitly help with your conversational skills and make you think .
Really know his stuff. Speaks from experience in business not from reading a text book.
Critical Thinking was a fun and enlightening experience. Dr. Evans may not be everyone's cup of tea (very opinionated) but he is a great professor and person, and makes the course amazing. If I could repeat this course, I would. Also, if you get, say, a B on the final, he might raise it to an A based on how much effort you've put forth in class.
He's a funny down to earth straight-foward prof. He tells a lot of personal stories. You must participate in his class, he'll call the quiet ones out. His quizzes had some unclear/tricky questions. Just do well on tests and make your presence known to him and you'll be fine. I came out learning something from it.
He is a very nice person once you get to know him...But he could be very mean and unprofecionla sosmetimes. But over all good. His class lecture was off topice sometimes but iteresting, he alos has alot of stories to tell. lol it made me feel like i was in kinder garden again listening to his stories.NOW IF YOU DO TAKE HIS CLASS. YOU MUST BE ON TIME
Probably the best teacher in bmcc. If your looking for a reasonable class to learn and have fun doing it this is the man to go to.
You will definately use what you learn. Make every effort to reach out to him via email and face to face. The class will be more interesting if students raise their hands. His exams are fair, study and show effort, it will go a long way to an "A". Excellent teacher. Please pick his brain, you will learn a great deal from him.
Professor Evans changes his rules and school rules depending on how he feels. I dont know how he got accepted as a professor at this school but they made a terrible mistake, he should be reviewed. If you are looking to learn anything do not take him. He is an egomaniac, and satisfies his ego by antagonizing his students.
I took this professor for the first summer session and I didn't find him THAT bad like what others have said about him. He is funny and down to earth, but at times, he can be rude. There was a lot of work given to us during the short summer session. Just make sure to participate because that is the main criteria he grades you on.
Excellent teacher. Attendance and participation is a must!! Test are very fair and the professor is easily accessible anytime. He knows his stuff and his classes are discussion based.
Prof Evans is funny & makes the class interesting. He is very direct & he doesn't sugar coat things which I guess some people may interpret that as being rude. But I never saw any sign of disrespect towards his students. Attendance, participation and punctuality are important.. He deducts points for lateness, absences & lack of participation.
This was my favourite class and professor at BMCC! You will never get bored. To get an A, follow the simple rules :don't be late, attend each class, do the assignments, TAKE the NOTES, TALK, TALK, TALK. The tests aren't that hard. That was the most enjoyable business class at BMCC for me. The professor is funny and intelligent. I miss mar100
A truly inspirational professor and an asset to this school and education as a whole. A stimulating class, emphasis on class participation and directions given every class held. Those students who want an "easy A" need not register, those students wanting a professor with professional experience and an education to back it up, put your name down.
Great professor overall. The only frustrating thing is the weekly blog post he makes you do on a company of your choice. Quizzes/midterm/final are easy-fair. Don't be late and participate in class. Blog/Participation > Quizzes/midterm/final. Good Blog grade and participation = A.
He is a cool professor, funny, but a hard grader. So do not confuse this professor for a easy grader! I had two classes the same semester with him! Marketing & Business Law.
He's a great teacher, but he does have favorites in the class. You never know what you will get with him sometimes. One minute he makes the class enjoyable the next minute you despise him. I recommend him, although he has the i'm the professor i know everything so don't question complex. participation is key
He makes us create a blog on a specific product which is great.. it helps us understand each chapter and gives us a real sense of what marketing is.. he's a fair grader and expects you to partisiate and know what to say considering you have to read the chapter prior to class cuz what you descuss in class is the chapter and your blog relating to it
He's by far the best professor I've had at BMCC. He doesn't ever write on the board but advises you to take notes. And he's very clear on what he expects from you in his class. He does come off very strict but he's actually really nice. His tests are all true and false. And participation is a must!
If you do what you need to do you will enjoy the course. Very goof prof.
awesom teacher! makes the class so enjoyable. you MUST participate and post to your blog on time. if you just do those simple things you will get an A in the class. highly reccomend him!
He assigns a semester long blog project to which you will post weekly. He comes off as though, but he only has certain expectations from his students, which he will make VERY clear. Do the reading, post on time, PARTICIPATE in class. As though as he may seem, he's very approachable and helpful. His class was always fun. Highly recommended!
Great Professor and all exams are true and false. Participation is vital.......
Very calm and cool guy. Stays on topic and explains material with real life examples.
Great professor. He tough me a lot. Participation and attendees very import an. Just read the book and you will be fine.
The class was rather challenging but I learned a lot. Quizzes were easy, but midterm/final were very hard and confusing. You really have to study a lot and participate in class as much as you can. The professor is very charming & fun, he jokes a lot, but can be mean at times. Take him if you are ready to work hard. Not for slackers
Professor Evans is expects his students to be responsible & mature. He is an interesting intellectual and will treat you according to your maturity level. The reading is tedious, but needed.. The blogs helps you understand the material... Blogs are important. Over all experience great!!! Great Professor...
i post all my blog posts on time and had 90s on my tests but ended up with an b-.i just dnt get it. dnt take his class.
frustrating professor!!!
Amazing professor ! I will take his class all over again if I have to. Funny, smart and you will learn a lot from him. Make sure you do what he ask and you ll be fine. He made me love going to class.
Prof Evans is a great teacher! just read your textbook and pay attention. He does treat you according to your maturity level but he is also very funny and fun. Coming from someone who hates school, he actually made me enjoy coming to class
He is a great professor. He is very clear on what he requires from you: participation and attendance Do what he asks and you will be fine.
Professor Evans is a boss! Best business professor in BMCC, perhaps the best overall. He cis strict about tardiness, but he is very fair. If you can't handle his class, then you probably aren't meant for college at this point of your life.
strict
Professor Evans is very clear about his assignments and what is to be expected. He is strict when in terms of attendance and participation but you WILL NOT regret having him as a professor. He is funny, well-educated and one of the best professor's in all of BMCC. If you enjoy writing and are not shy -- easy A for you.
strict and participation in class is a most so if you are quiet and don't talk then don't expect a good grade
Strict and disrespectful! As a professional, he needs discipline in talking to students. Very knowledgeable professor on Business Law but definitely a professor you wouldn't want to work with. Don't take his class unless you're prepared for the worst!
One of the best professors at BMCC. Learned many things about Marketing, and some life lessons as well from this great professor. He is very serious about his work though so make sure to follow his guidelines from the start in order to get an A. "It's an easy class if you make it easy", Words from the man himself.
Professor Evans has made my first semester of college a great one. His understandings of marketing and comparing it to real world scenarios are great. He is also hilarious and he is clear on what he wants. Honestly if you don't understand his class, that's your own fault. Everything he says, it's clear and it's understandable. Wonderful professor!
You are graded on hw, participation, and tests. He is strict but its very simple to pass the class with a good grade. Do your post before every class, PARTICIPATE, and read the chapters. It's a fun and interesting class. He gives good life lessons too. Don't ask him to repeat anything.
He is tough. grades are divided in 3 parts;Blog, quiz, class participation. If you are shy and unwilling to not to participate in class then most likely you are not getting a good grade. same goes for blog! every week you will have to read a chapter and post it on your blog(your own thought, no copy& paste). He never replies Email Period.
He is very rude and disrespectful. He never reply emails, even I visit his office, he talk to me depending on his mood. Totally not helpful, I recommend to not take his class.
Prof Evans provides way more than education; he is an all-round person knowledgeable about a lot of life essentials. I learned so much more than marketing in this class. Stay focused, PARTICIPATE!PARTICIPATE! and submit assignments ON TIME. You still won't get that A but a B ain't half bad lol
Prof. Evans was such a tough grader, in his tests if you don't write exactly as he asks but you slightly change the order, he's going to deduct half points. If you don't participate in class, he's going to tell you that in front of the whole class. He is very repetitive and tells you what's going to be on the test.
Professor Evans changed my perspective on marketing. He made the information from the textbook relevant to real life situations. Took his class in the summer time. Keep in mind participation is a MUST. If you're not willing to sit in front and talk talk talk, don't bother. Also, relies heavily on attendance.
MAKE SURE YOU POST TO YOUR BLOG EVERY WEEK. If you are a shy person and don't really like participating don't take this class participation makes up a major part of your grade. He gets off topic a bit and likes to add life experiences to his lectors. Also make sure your check your emails.
I was so happy to have Professor Evans, just do your blog and easy in quises! The best Proffesor Ever!
Professor Evans is an amazing instructor! I loved starting my days with his class. The class is taught and graded straightforward. Blogging is a large portion of your grade, so you should pick a company that you are interested in. Participation matters. A lot. If you are not participating or studying, he'll tell you bluntly.
You NEED to participate in order to pass. And blogging every week on time is a MUST.
Professor Evans was very knowledgeable on the subject and he makes the grading system very clear to everyone. Participation takes up half of your grade so make sure you try your best to. He doesnt assign homework or paperwork, so the only thing he really asks from you is to read the chapters and participate in class. Overall, he was great.
Well, I thought I will get A- but when I checked my grade on cunyfirst I was surprised and I got A. He is not that much tough. Ofcourse you have to participate and read the book. If you can get good marks in the test and make an impact through participating at you best, I think he will not disappoint you. Read study guide. Tests are easy but many.
Professor Evans is AMAZING. JUST DO YOUR PART. Show up to class, read the chapters & review and PARTICIPATE. (If you're taking him for marketing DO THE BLOGS EVERY WEEK. For Business Law, read the chapters) You'll pass the class if you do so. I had him both for MAR 100 & BUS 110. I would take him for every other business course at BMCC if I could.
I commented him "hot-tempered man" on the first day of class. He proved me wrong. He's super helpful and hilarious. He rocks the class asking every students to participate as 50% of grade. The class that i will miss forever. Thank you Professor.
For marketing class, expect to blog every week & you must participate otherwise you will fail. I don't recommend to take his class if you are very shy. 50% on blog & 50% on participation. He can be rude and not care what you have to say. He can't be wrong, he wants to be right, thinks he knows everything. But he is hilarious.
I had him for bus. Law and marketing and he ws good. Come to class prepared and u won't have a problem. He was one of the final professors in the distinguish teacher award, one of the best.
I took a summer semester and do not regret it! Just follow Prof. Evans's rules and your life will be easy. I'm a shy person in class but he told us again and again to try our best and participate in class. A blog assignment was fun, though we had 3 weeks only to do it. He's very nice, funny&knowledgeable. Looking towards Business Law. Bogdana
He has a unique teaching method, yet it doesn't mean better. Blog and Participating are extremely important, yet, he does not have clear grading criteria. Therefore, you don't know how much is adequate to participate and how to improve your blog better. NO EXTRA CREDIT. Students who're talkative definitely has more advantage than those who's not.
He is a funny guy but if he doesn't like what you're saying, you're wrong. He is childish sometimes. He ruined my GPA. He could have easily given me a good grade. I did everything. Blog and class participation are 80% of your grade. half of the time we weren't even talking about the subject. He is a difficult professor to understand but he's caring when he wants to be.
never mention drake or ovo and you'll pass, LOL just read, and read away religiously. everything is cake midterm is .cake. it's all in the book all you have to do is read !!!! Oh yeah get ready to talk. Cp is 40 percent your grade. Just show the man you ain't mute and have a voice again everything's cake if you dedicated also do the blog!!
He is unique , but fantastic. He rubs some people the wrong way because he tries to get them to think outside the box which doesn't sit well with some. He is in my top three favorite professors at BMCC. He doesn't accept complaining and whining from anyone. He wants to see adult , concise, and productive action to learn and improve oneself .
He's a really good professor makes his expections clear from the begging of the semester participation matter be on time to class and don't miss class
Participate every class or youll fail simple . READ THE TEXTBOOK ! and youll be fine
Read from the textbook, participate, & you'll pass. I got over 90 on every exam including midterm & final, but still got a D because of participation. He gets off topic often & doesn't help when students ask questions. Instead he will put you down for not knowing. Terrible professor, difficult to tolerate. Kept telling the class we would all fail.
Prof Evans BUSINESS LAW is not for the faint of heart, If your known for being an extrovert take his class there is NO HW but there are a lot of test. Honest from the start his grading system is 50/50 participation and quizzes. SO SHOW UP AND READ YOUR TEXTBOOK COME PREPARED AND USE THE STUDY GUIDE THAT COMES WITH THE LATEST TEXTBOOK!!! GOODLUCK :)
I took MAR 100. Professor Evans is a unique teacher. He asks you to take of your hat and put your phone away. And he is right. Be on time, he pretends that he doesn't pay attention to details, but he does. He even shows that he doesn't remember your name, but he remembers. Quizzes are not that difficult, just read the chapters, do blog in time.
If you don't participate, you will not pass. Their is no homework but their are blog posts due every week. His lectures are long but they are far from boring. He's a cool smooth dude from back in the day and it shows. Test are true/ false so that's a bonus. You can guess your way into passing a test , I did it. You really get out what you put in.
Prof Evans is a really good professor. I cannot stress you enough PARTICIPATION MATTERS. He constantly tells the class "Active class participation" which is actively and constantly raising your hand not just 1-2 times a class. The book was 232$ which was the only bad thing. EVERYTHING the test asks is based off the book which is a plus. TAKE HIM !
He is an amazing professor, he is brilliant always want to help students. I am grateful for the change he made in my life. I took him in BMCC and he prepared me for the 4 year college now I'm going to graduate from a BS in Eco. You have to be respectful and enjoy his class. I will recommend his class to everyone because he is that good.
Prof. Evans encourages all students to participate from day one. Make sure you talk in his class, it is major part of his grading system.
The worst professor I learned very little, he talks for the entire class and shows videos and often goes way off topic and just goes over definitions each class. He gives no guides for tests and a 10 page paper at end of semester with no outline so I had no clue what to study and how he wanted paper written. This class was also extremely boring
Just annoying. He isnt very clear about any of his grades and repeats unimportant stuff. Avoid this class if youre shy. Hes also really disrespectful to his students
Very Disrespectful, DO Yourself a favor and Do not take him. Waste of time.
Love Prof. Evans, funny guy. Sit in first row and raise your hand consistently, I mean A LOT. Participate as much as possible, its 25% of your grade. Weekly 50-word blog posts, 25%, do them as he says to. 25% are to quizzes and tests, all T/F, a bunch of shenanigans. Last 25% is a marketing plan, make it nice. Very hard to get an A, be consistent.
Recommended. Grading was made clear since beginning of class and reiterated throughout the course what is expected. Class participation is required if you want the A. Recounts lots of personal stories as examples but really doesn't add much to the topic. Most of my learning came from the book and projects. Funny, entertaining and reasonable.
Professor Evans is a friends-first professor (he will deny it); interact with him and say a few funny things, do some of the work and you'll receive a B. HOWEVER, if a B is not what you want, getting an A is tricky. No clear grading criteria, just "do what the homework says", no feedback and doesn't give back assignments. Double edged sword.
The first impression of Prof. Evans was funny. However, he was unorganized with class lecture and there was not have a clear grading guidelines which you wont know how you are doing, how can you improve it. I didnt learn so much in his class and I regret that I took the class. If you want to learn something, dont take his class.
He wants you to participate but when you say one or two things, the next week he will call you out in front of the whole class and accuse you of not participating. He always says that he doesn't remember who participate the last week and lower your grade. He fails this girl who always participates and everybody knows she does. It's just sad.
Professor Evans is a wonderful teacher. He is funny, kind, and also serious about what he teaches. Make sure to read the textbook and to participate. He is serious about participation and attendance but also lighthearted and very funny. I recommend this class but you have to do the work. He is clear with his expectations. Would take him again!
Professor Evans is one of the best professors at BMCC. He is very detailed in his lectures and he always gives time to students during office hours to help them with their questions. Business Law was one of his classes I took and I enjoyed it. Being punctual, doing your homework and office hours visits is an easy A.
Didnt like taking his course at all. I felt as though his lectures were disorganized. 50% of your grade is class participation but I found myself unable to raise my hand because I wasnt learning anything. I felt like the lectures were a waste and didnt cover most of the stuff youd need to know on the tests. Plus he barley gives any quizzes.
I took him in my first semester. Initially, it was really hard for me to be a part of the class because the most important aspect of the class was to participate and he expects everyone to participate. As he is always available outside of the class, I was able to communicate with him about my problems which helped me to do great in the class.
If you are a talkative person, take him. If you are a person like me, Please hell no. My grade was great which is A BEFORE add the participation grade. And one thing just for my view, he always wearing the same pants.
Very uptight . Waived his index finger and says Hanh all the time. Says instructions only once and tells you to ask a peer if you did not understand them the first time. If you like talking for hours nonstop you should definitely take this class cuz thats basically what they do all day. And your grade depends on it. He has verry funny Voice tho
Professor Evans was not organized with his lecture. The lecture can be from marketing strategy to his childhood or the history of New York, which seems knowledgeable. However, I didn't learn much from him, and he only go through the words that labeled in the book, which once we had finished three chapters in one lecture. There is no break allowed.
THIS PROFESSOR IS ONE OF THE HARDEST PROFESSORS I HAVE EVER HAD AT BMCC IF YOU DO NOT PARTICIPATE YOU WILL RECEIVE A BAD GRADE .YOU MUST COMPLETE A BLOG ONCE A WEEK IT IS LIKE HOMEWORK. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE TO PARTICIPATE DO NOT TAKE HIM. QUIZZES AND EXAMS ARE LONG BUT NOT THAT DIFFICULT. BUT HE IS VERY STRICT.
Class participation is half the grade and he expects you to know the law verbatim. The textbook is your best friend because a lot of the class is spent hearing his personal stories. Students would try and voice their concerns and hed just be extremely rude and offensive at times even when they were only trying to learn and do better.
Terrible! He doesnt teach anything! He relays on videos from 15 years ago, to teach a marketing class. He seats in the corner and literally naps during the videos, that you will watch almost every class. He is extremely rude when a question is asked. Again, this person is a lazy professor, who doesnt teach anything. Dont take his class!
Prof Evans is great at conveying his message and offers valid feedback. Participation is a must if you want to maximize on your grade. I took MAR100 during the semester when the pandemic forced classes to go online, and his transition was flawless and his teaching format works effectively on Zoom. I am taking him again for Business Law
I took this Professor for the Spring and it was the most useless thing. Teaching is not effective and it is completely a waste of time especially in a time like this. Stay away from this professor if you really want to learn and pass this course. He doesn't post grades on Blackboard at all so you're left wondering how you're doing in the class.
Believe everything you see on this website for his BUS 11O course. Those students aren't lying. I thought it wasn't true until the end of this semester I found out that his course is just a complete WASTE. He is the worst and you will regret taking him. This course will waste your time so register for a different professor ASAP!!!!
He,s very funyy and caeing raise hand as much ou can and just the blog and you wil get A
Dont take this professor if you wanna learn something real I repeat dont take him
Took him for Spring 2021 term. Just no, lectures seem a bit all over the place. Not really learned anything. Just do the blog! Also make sure to talk. Inconsiderate of people's situations. Take a different professor.
The worst teacher you can have, he does not teach you anything, you do not learn, he does not tell you your grades he gives you meaningless grades in short the worst thing ever
Never take his class, irresponsible, and boring teaching.
Professor Evans is the worst. Hes very lazy and you will learn absolutely nothing in his class. He doesnt post grade on blackboard so you wont know how well your doing and gives a random midterm test with no explanation as to what to do leaving you confused! I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Hes a very lazy professor! And his attitude stinks.
Professor Evans, is very straightforward. What material he expects done will reflect on the outcome of your grade. Very easy to pass if you pay attention and ask for help when you dont understand he would make sure to explain. He is very knowledgeable on the course material and will always be able to answer your questions!
The professor's expectations of students are fair. If you do the homework and pay attention during class, you will pass the class
this professor is so unorganized and ruthless with the amount of abrupt and last minute presentations/quizzes.
I had a disappointing experience with this professor. He tends to focus on minor details, which can be quite frustrating. It often feels like we are expected to teach the class ourselves, and when I reached out for clarification on assignments, I struggled to get a response to my emails. Part 2 below
Participation requires constant verbal engagement, which can be challenging for those who need a moment to gather their thoughts. If you have issues with assignments he responds with indifference, suggesting that if you register for his class, you should be able to manage the work. Overall, I found his attitude to be quite unpleasant & petty. Pt2
I wouldn't recommend taking his class. Participation is 50% of your grade which I thought was unfair especially since we are on zoom and not in a regular class setting there isn't much participation. Overall his attitude is kind of weird especially if you ask questions regarding grading policy.
Professor does not care for emails expects you to prioritize solely his class makes it difficult to work and attend school. He doesn't care and he says it. Lectures on and on about participating and cameras on. Genuinely confused on how this kind of logic exists. Gosh forbid people have a life outside of class.
Ignore all the negative reviews. Prof. Evans is beyond reasonable and places his expectations very simply and clearly before you. If you do what is expected of you and make sure to participate and do your work, there should be no reason you should fail. Taking the winter course was worrisome but Prof. Evans had a great pace and good lectures.
very stingy and disrespectful to his students. Wants things done a certain way but doesn't say it beforehand and gets really rude and disrespectful when someone ask a question as if he isn't supposed to be teaching us. doesn't teach anything only talks about himself and his personal stories. Only thing good is the textbook is free.
This professor is very hard on students, makes cruel comments.
professor was super difficult to deal with, very condescending and such a headache. 3 hour class and 1/3rd of the class is off subject and off subject ranting.
The professor is often condescending and sarcastic, expecting students to instantly understand complex legal terms as if we've had the same training he did. Instead of explaining concepts clearly, he mocks students who struggle, calling them "geniuses" in a belittling tone. His attitude makes learning difficult.
He is very clear on how half of the grade is exams and the other half is participation. He is very direct however he can be snarky and not open to feedback. Has many typos on exams and quizzes. He says of you question your grade your grade will drop.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you are not ready to participate every class. Professor is great and applies law to real time situations to make it easy to understand. Classes were very fun.
He is very strict, you must participate in class. And he is very difficult when it comes to technical issues or he will not inform you about certain assignment's. if you speak up he will embarrass you. Take this class with caution and if you already know about law. he isn't understanding in anyway, goodluck.
