Joel is addicted to Lou Malnati's pizza from Chicago!!
JOEL IS SO HOT!<3 haha Here is a teach. who really cares about his students. U wont B disappointed if U take this class! If U do take his class, know he LOVES Lou Malnati's pizza, kit-kats, Cruller (fav donut), &he's a Coke guy, but likes Diet DR.P. Know this for "extra points"! "But in all seriousness" This class is gr8! U'll learn but have fun!:)
Joel is one of the most understanding, reasonable professors I've ever had. He is great at explaining things and super helpful if you don't understand. Amount of homework assigned is just right. The tests are fair and he lets you bring a 3x5 notecard, which really helps. Great sense of humor makes a difficult subject approachable.
Joel is an amazing professor. he's very willing to help out, he is very imformative and professional, i liked his class a TON,even though i missed a good amount of classes. pay partial atention and youll pass everything with flying colours, make sure you stay after the breaks for pop quizes!
Joel is a fantastic professor. He is clear, reasonable, incredibly helpful & always willing to take a minute to make a topic more understandable. He also has a huge sense of humor! Most importantly, he is ALWAYS fair. You do your part & he'll do what he can to ensure you understand and do very well. Very gifted at teaching. Can't wait for ACCT 108!
He's a fantastic teacher! He's really knows the subject and is very friendly and easily approachable with questions. Plus he's hilarious! His class was so fun; I'm really going to miss having him as a teacher! I'd give the highest rating possible for Da Godfather Of Accounting! :D
The most amazing teacher I have ever had! He is hilarious and has the best personality which makes class awesome. Super eager to help with anything and clarifies any/all questions. Great office hours and easy to catch before/after class. Detailed study guides, wish he taught 108! I am thinking about switching my major to acct after his class!
Joel is an awesome dude! He is very helpful and always interested in the well-being of all his students. He has a good sense of humor and jokes around a lot too making his class more enjoyable. Accounting wasn't my thing, however he made sure I always understood the material.
not an easy class but if you put the time in you will do fine. 4 test, 1 group project, lots of homework, 8 quizes, and a final... Do all the work and you will be fine. One of the nicest professors at Palomar!
really good teacher! and woooo! man is he hawt! i wish they could upgrade is chili pepper to an orange habinero! cause he's that hot!
Straight to the point. Great friendly person, bad teacher. For me, too much material not covered well. Annoying to talk about non accounting related topics half of class and felt like I could have been taught more.
Joel is a great teacher. He truly cares about the students. His class isn't easy, but he's available for help whenever it is needed. If you put in the effort you will do fine. He has a fun personality and breaks up the lectures with fun topics. He will answer any question asked and never makes students feel stupid. Great Teacher!
Joel is a real friendly guy and a pretty good professor. He loves talking about food and procrastinating in class. This class is a very difficult one if you have no background in accounting although he does offer as much help as you need to pass his class with a good grade. Chili pepper.
I had him for Acct103 & 104. One of the hardest classes I've had to take, but he makes it a lot more bearable. He is easily approachable and encourages students to take advantage of his office hours. Lots of work, but if you need it, your best option is to take it with Joel! Be warned, you will get hungry in his class, he talks about food a lot!
Joel Glassman is one of the best professors at Palomar HANDS DOWN. Hes class is hard but if you do, and understand, the homework you'll be ready for the tests. For a 4 hour class on Thursday nights Joel made it as bearable as possible. And of course he is HOT. Like Mike Seaver hot.
Great teacher, takes a hard, boring subject and makes it interesting and understandable. Do the homework and study guides, and come to class and you'll do fine. Eat before you come to class, he'll torture you with pictures of Lou Malnati's pizza.
He's humorous ,helpful :-)
He s funny ant helpful :-) every class is interesting :-)
He s so nice! choose his class:)
He cares about his students, loves teaching, funny, interesting, knowledgeable, and willing to clarify if you need help.
Joel is awesome!!Really easy going, great sense of humor. Always keeps you intrested. Had him for Financial Acct, now I'm in his Acct.105.Wish I had him for every class!
Best Accounting teacher in the world ! if you want to pass accounting this is the teacher to take the class with. He is very interested in what he does and knows how to entertain you and motivate you to want to learn everything as well. he is truly the best!!!! :)
Joel is the best accounting teacher ever! He's nice, funny and enjoys teaching his subject. His tests and grading style are completely fair, even though the material is tough. He also jokes around and talks about food a lot in class, which is great! I've loved taking classes with him as every class is informative and hilarious. Can't wait for more!
Very Chill professor, I am not a business major but took acct202 with glassman. he made the lectures interesting, and easy to understand. very funny, very cool professor. Love talking about food, All kind of food...
Such a great professor! I would take his class again if I could. There was never a dull moment in his class. He keeps the class really interesting, and gives real world examples of how accounting could actually play into your everyday life.
Awesome teacher, Out of all teachers in accounting section take him. Do the online work and practice test and you'll be prepared. He loves for you bring Jack in the Box tacos or his chicago pizza.
He's the best! Fun and interesting, he not only likes his subject (not an easy subject to like) but makes his students like it too. Eat before class. He has lots of real-world applications too! Take if you want to have fun, but be warned, it's not easy unless you put in some effort.
He is the best business teacher ever. He loves talking about food, so eat before class. If you read the book and do the Learn Smart module before class, You will pass the class. But if you slack off and do the LS module without reading, you will not get a good grade on the test. The LS Module really helps. His mini-projects are helpful too.
Joel is such a fun teacher. He makes every class worth going to and really enjoys his job. Definitely take his class!
Nice, funny guy but not the best prof. Goes off on tangents A LOT & kind of lets the students run the class. Really wanted to learn the material since I'm majoring in acct but I still don't feel that knowledgeable. A lot more material could've been covered in class if time was used more wisely. Wouldn't recommend prof if you really want to learn
Joel by far is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He is such a great professor who really cares about his students. He is really funny and makes you look forward to coming to class. He is extremely helpful and really wants his students to learn. I highly recommend taking him if you want an accounting professor who makes learning fun!
Uses different learning styles in teaching which helps with class participation. Sticks to the textbook and Blackboard so no surprises on quizzes/tests. Lectures are very helpful, informative, and makes the class a lot of fun. So glad to get a Professor that actually has real world experience compared to a occupational educator that cant relate.
By far the best professor I have had. I took him for both Financial and Managerial accounting and am bummed I won't have him next semester. Highly recommended.
Best professor I've ever had, makes the class very fun and is truly invested in each student and wants his whole class to succeed. Highly recommend him and wish he taught more classes. Excellent class, all around great guy!
Never a dull moment in his class! He's an expert in accounting and good food. Best acct professor ever
As long as you read the chapters and do your homework prior to class, you will be fine. An easy A. Great professor, always willing to help and answer any questions. He keeps the class engaged and make it fun. The only bad comment would be that he sometimes goes off topic from the lecture, but overall a great class and teacher.
i would definitely show up to his class, or else you will be clueless. he is funny and gives interesting lectures. I enjoys his class because of how he interacts with everyone. he makes sure that you know he is there to help you learn and gives great examples and ways to look at things.
Joel is just the greatest. and he loves food! super good teacher, really cares, tries to get you the best grade he can, helpful, makes a super boring subject interesting, and is just an all around great guy. I have taken 2 classes from him and have not been dissipointed
I highly recommend Joel for accounting he is such a great professor. He wants every student to succeed in his class. He is always asking questions during lectures to make sure that you understand the material. Also, he offers pre-exam quizzes and study guides which are extremely helpful when preparing for the test.
Love Joel! Super funny, makes class fun, pop quizzes are easy, very organized, super helpful, sets you up to pass. His amazing personality and awesome teaching skills made this class so fun and pretty easy. MUST TAKE HIM! He loves tacos. Very down to earth. I had so much fun in this class I'm going to miss it so much :(
Classic Joel! That guy was great.
He is a cool down to Earth guy who cares about his student. Funny and always there for his students. Accounting is a hard subject and I would struggle more if I didn't have a class with his humor. Does a retake exam and attendance is key. Only flaw is he goes off topic very easily and lectures are dry.
If you're taking accounting at Palomar, the only teacher you should consider is Joel! He's the man!! He's straight forward about everything and just a really chill teacher. He drops the lowest homework grade, and test grade, He also offers a make-up exam if you want to earn more points or had to miss one. Also POTLUCK at the end of the semester!!!
Joel Glassman is a great professor. He makes learning accounting more enjoyable, and he is always making the class laugh. Learning accounting can be tedious, but he truly does his best to clarify everything along the way. Take him!
The best professor I have had so far. Even better looking then Jon Smith the econ prof. Took both accounting classes and learned a lot. The way he explains accounting using "real world situations" is fantastic. Not at all facetious. Also look for his Human Sexuality class.
I took 201 and 202 with Joel. He is great! Take him!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. He is constantly joking and making class insanely funny (and this is an acct class!). You don't want to miss class and it's not because of the material. If you have to to take acct, take it with Joel! He's a great teacher who will take the time to meet with you several times for extra tutoring if needed.
Joel is an amazing dude, he makes acct fun and interesting! He is constantly joking and having fin with his class, but he doesn't fail to teach you the material. By far one of the best teachers I have ever had! He cares about his students and actually wants to see you succeed. Dude rocks! Keep in mind, acct is not easy. So you do have to study!
Joel is so aweseome! One of the best professors I've ever had! Super nice and helpful is always willing to help if you're stuck. Makes accounting less boring! He gives several pop quizzes but they aren't hard. I would definitely take him again! And I don't even need accounting 202
Joel is a fantastic teacher. By far the best I've had at Palomar. His stories will have you rolling, and the class has an extremely fun atmosphere. The only thing I will say is that the class is DIFFICULT. Don't expect to skate through it, you REALLY have to study. Tests are hard. But he is there to help you and offers tutoring.
DO THE NONGRADED HOMEWORK. Now that ive gotten that out of the way, he is the best person to take for acct at pmar. For a subject as boring as acct, he makes his lectures funny, informative, and is very helpful if you have a question. He may try to sell you some Chicago pizza, but ignoring that he is an awesome teacher and guy. Hard class, passable.
This is Antonio Correa and Joel knows I'm writing this! Joel is a great teacher & its very clear that he enjoys his job. He is very friendly & like working with young adults. Gives you every chance to succeed in this class, you just have to put in the work. Downside** He is not as hot as his rating so don't expect much. he owes me tacos too!
Joel is a hilarious teacher which is helpful when studying such a dry topic. He grades tough but allows for extra credit and make up tests. There is a lot of homework and it's all online so make sure you know how to use Blackboard. You almost never leave early but he makes the subject enjoyable. Be prepared to read a lot but he'll make it fun.
Tests are hard and maybe if I put more time and effort I would do better. Joel is funny and the man does love his Jack in the Box tacos. Homework is manageable. The only con is he goes too fast with his lecture slides
If you have to take any accounting class, you would be a fool to not take one of Joel's. Not only is he the best looking accounting teacher at Palomar (striking resemblance to Fabio) but he is honestly the best teacher I have had my entire educational career. (For extra credit remember that he loves New York stye pizza and the STL Cardinals)
I absolutely adore Joel. I took both his Acct 201 and 202. Honestly, if you follow everything he tells you to do such as the practice, reading the chapters, Learnsmarts, non-graded homework, and graded homework. There are absolutely no reason for you not to get an A. Plus he drops your worst score for learnsmarts, homework, and pop quizzes.
Joel is amazing! So funny and caring! It's best if you attend his class because he explains the material very well. If you don't you will need to teach yourself which takes a lot more time. You will likely want to attend his class anyway since he is such an great teacher. If you don't like jokes and to laugh, don't take his class.
Great professor. Humorous, knows the material, and makes the time go by quickly.
Joel is the absolute best. He wants you to succeed and if you follow everything he tells you to do you will get an A. And there isn't that much to do. He will never not pay his debts. If he says he owes you tacos he will pay up.
He is the best Professor I've ever had.
Joel really cares about his students and wants you to do well. Do the homework and pre-exam quizzes to prepare for the test. You have to do the work and pay attention in class or else your grade will suffer. Very funny lectures and talks about food a lot. I would take a class with him again.
I took Professor Glassman's Acct 201 & Acct 202 courses back in Spring & Fall 2014. Here I am a couple of years later on my last semester at CSUSM, and all I have to say is that Professor Glassman was one of my Favorite professors I have ever taken! TAKE THIS COURSE! No matter what your major is, he will set you up for success!! - Robert K.
He's cool but his lectures are all based on power points, which doesn't help!
He's a funny guy but sometimes it takes away from the actual learning. It's all based off PowerPoints and his tests are super hard because you have to memorize not only formulas but labels on tables. He should give templates and allow you to fill in the info instead of memorizing labels. He really needs to allow notes on tests or something.
Great professor and a fun guy. Be prepared to read and don't take it slow the first few weeks. All of the cirriculum is cummulative and builds upon itself. The only downside is the expensive learnsmart access that is 100 points of your grade.
Great professor! Readily available when needed, cares, and gives good feedback. Study guides are very valuable! If its on the guide its on the test. Class consists of 4quizes, 4exams, 3group projects, and homework (2 assignments per chapter not bad at all). I enjoyed the class, great environment. Incredibly hard to fail if you give the effort.
The best professor I have ever had. If you need to take Accounting, take his class. The subject is boring, but his classes are anything but. I actually woke up in the morning looking forward to going to his class. Just pay close attention to his lectures, ask questions, do the homework on time, study hard for test, and you will do well.
The guy is awesome. Funny, helpful, smart, etc. His in class practice quizzes and in class exercises greatly help on the homework and tests. Whatever he writes on the board, ensure you copy it. I gave him a 3 in easiness instead of a 2 because he makes you memorize every single formula; formulas for a class even he says is unnecessary.
Currently taking ACCT 201 with Joel and I have thoroughly enjoyed taking this class with him. He makes coming to class entertaining and gives plenty of opportunity to practice the material, which in turn helps prepare you for the tests you take so you pass the class. Would highly recommend!
This is a difficult subject, but the way the class is set up leads you toward doing well. He doesn't just stand up there and lecture. There's a lot of engagement with the class and a good balance of education and entertainment.
Joel's an awesome professor! He has a great sense of humor, tells lots of jokes, and makes what could easily be a boring class lots of fun. His lectures are clear, organized, and really help you understand the material. He's a fair grader, and fully prepares you for his exams, even letting you retake one of them. I highly recommend him!
Joel is a tough grader that will get you to put a lot of effort into this class by doing the homework, pre-exam quizzes, and projects! What you will do on the homework and pre-exam quiz will be on the test. The good news is he drops some assignments and replace a test! Non-graded homework is a must do!!!
Joel is a great professor. He really wants you to learn the material and gives you every chance to succeed. 4 Tests(including the final) with one retake of your worst test. Although they are about 75% of your grade, he really gives you the tools to succeed if you put the effort in.
Joel is an amazing professor and person. Accounting is a pretty dry subject so hes funny with it and tries to make the lectures not as boring. He is a tough grader and there is a semester long group project. Gives study guides and pre exam quizzes to help with the exams. 3 exams (can retake one), one final, homework for each chapter,
Joel is one of the best professors Palomar has to offer. He's funny yet makes sure the material gets through to students on a good level of understanding. He's able to define tough concepts and relate them to normal activities for easy memorization. He provides study guides which are extremely helpful and is always there for help.
Definitely one of the coolest guys I've ever met. Joel makes what would usually be a grueling 2 hour accounting lecture actually fun. The material is hard but he sets you up for success with non-graded and graded homework, as well as quizzes, study guides, etc. I still don't like accounting, but he made learning it pretty hilarious.
This is the hardest class of all the accounting classes, but Joel is excellent. Gives pre-exams that mirror tests but the tests are varied and can be very hard if you do not study. Online code and book you need to buy. Learn Smart easy. Graded homework pretty easy. Retake one bad exam of four. No discuss board. Inspirational. Don't underestimate
The only reason this class is difficult is cuz the professor. He took off 2 weeks for a family emergency but still included material we didn't cover on the exam. If you're a C student, you'll love this class. He boosts failing grades and refuses to round up borderline A students. I had an 89% in the class and he gave me a flat B, not even a B+.
Best professor and class ever. He is hilarious! His study guides and quizzes help with the actual exams. He offers homework that will also help with the tests. The BEST professor ever. Textbook is needed for the connect.
Amazing teacher! Super fun and cool guy, really cares about his students and helping you anyway he can. Homework for every chapter but gives you a non graded practice round. Always a study guide and practice problems. You can plan to be prepared if you do everything he gives you. Highly recommend taking his class, you won't regret it
I took this class just to have basic skills in accounting and ended up adding as a major because I loved his class so much.
Pretty cool guy and teaches in a unique way that sticks with you. However he gives WAY to many assignments for a class where 90% are not accounting majors and everyone is just taking it because it is required. Makes you do a group project that is useless and just eats up your time that you could have used on something better.
Joel is the real deal. He is super Knowledgeable in both managerial and financial accountancy. If your looking to pursue an accounting major as a career, I highly recommend this course over all others. I gave Joel my full attention last year and currently am excelling in Intermediate Accounting at CSUSM. His time is GOLD. Even non-acct majors take!
Accounting is not an easy subject, but professor Glassman makes it easy. He knows what he is talking about, he is funny, makes his expectations clear and very approachable. Honestly best accounting professor at Palomar. I tried other professors for this subject and they were no where nearly as good as prof Glassman. Do the work guaranteed A or B
Joel is a hilarious, funny, exciting, and enthusiastic professor, but accounting SUCKS. Hardest class i have ever taken by far. Joel makes the class bearable and fun but that doesn't change the fact that it is insanely hard. Total of 4 tests, including the final. group projects, homework, etc. He is a great professor but the class is hard. STUDY!!!
Joel is a great guy and has real world experience. The downside is, that he teaches right from the powerpoint. Print off the sides before class and take notes. He does give hand-outs but they are for you, so nobody does them. Online Learn smart quest. due before class. HW quest. due before class day of exam. 3 chapters per exam. lowest grade drop
Great guy!!! I loved the class, useful information and was pretty easy. The homework is a piece of cake that should only take 20 min tops. Almost all points are free and as long as you do it it's pretty much a guaranteed B. Tests aren't too bad if you just show up to class, I really only studied for the final. Also a chance to win pizza!!! (I did)
Amazing teacher! Lots of homework and a few group projects. He has good study guides and very clear expectations! I wish there was more teachers like him. He cracks jokes all the time, has fun games and interesting lectures (I mean its accountint so...) overal really enjoyed this class. Probably my favorite of all time.
He's probably the funniest teacher I've ever had! His class itself can be hard, but he tries to make it as easy as he can for his students. A study guide is handed out before tests containing all the necessary info needed to study, makes tests easy enough if you put in the time. I'm really going to miss having this class in my schedule
Class is a lot of new information, professor gives great lectures, you have to study a lot but it will pay off. Gives study guides except for the tests are hard and worth a lot. 4 exams total and homework due every 2 weeks with open note quizes. Homework can take a while. Enjoyed this class but got a C. So bring a lot
Just finished taking him for accounting 201 and I would highly recommend him. He's a good teacher overall. Concise, easy to get a hold of, understanding. I would take him again if he was teaching summer or fall but unfortunately he's not. So if you're looking for an answer as to whether or not to take him, just do it. You won't regret it.
First of all, accounting does NOT come naturally to me, but Joel is honestly such a good professor. Even though I didn't really enjoy the subject, I didn't mind going to class because he teaches in a way that is enjoyable, plus he's hilarious. He explains any questions you have and always welcomes students to come to his office for extra help.
One of the most helpful professors I've ever had. Makes the lectures super easy to follow by powerpoint notes. Gives you a pre exam quiz before the test so it shows you where you need to study. One section of chapter homework a week. Super funny and loves to talk about food! If you have any problems you can go to him and he will help you.
Professor Glassman is an excellent professor, he is caring and will help you any way possible to pass his class. Make sure to do all your homework it will be helpful to pass the exams. 100% recommended! His class is fun and engaging!
I would highly recommend this class, I'm typically a lazy student and this class has a good amount of work but I never felt it was too much to handle. You do have to learn out of the book but prof Glassman is very helpful if you fall behind or struggling. Easy class just stay on top of your work.
Took Glassman for Acct 201 & 202, and by far one of the best/solid professors I've had at Palomar. He gives out lots of homework each week (smartbook ?s, quiz, homework ?s), but as long as you stay on top of it, you will do just fine. He has 3 tests and they are graded heavy (350 points) but are basically the homework. His lectures are posted.
(In class) Joel is a great professor. He knows his stuff gives ton of examples and always has time for questions. Quizzes are done together or by yourself. Tests can be challenging at times, so study. Projects can be annoying because of group members but not him. Take the time to learn the course and you'll do fine.
Professor Glassman enjoys being personable with his students; he made the early-morning class a period to look forward to. What can be challenging is the content briefing with the smartbook before the week and the tests. He seems to recognize this is a tough subject and so I think his grading system somewhat graced my A. A kind man.
Mr. Glassman is an amazing teacher, very caring, super knowledgeable, and the utmost fair when it comes to grading. I took his course online, and while the subject itself can be very challenging, Mr. Glassman made it known he was always available and responded quickly if we had any questions. Go for Mr. Glassman - wonderful teacher, awesome class!
this wasn't an easy A class but if u do what he recommends you'll do great. i would read the chapters, do the hw and pre-exam quizzes, study and take notes in class and got A's on all the exams. it takes effort but it is manageable. tests were easy if u prepared and his lectures are understandable
Professor Glassman was a great professor, his assignments are very clear and and he does not have to much homework. There is a lot of reading for his class but if you enjoy learning about accounting then it should be easy for you. He sends many reminder emails of what is due and is always willing to answer any questions you have.
an absolute legend. If your are taking an accounting major, this is the professor that you should consider taking along the way as long as you can. Good sense of humor, very very much caring and actually cares that you learn all the subjectives and lessons, goes into detailed of all the lessons and making sure nobody is left with any questions.
Glassman is an excellent instructor who keeps his class engaging, organized, and relevant. He even provides a variety of resources and lectures to help you retain the knowledge. While the course is content-heavy, Glassman has a way of making it fascinating and ensuring that you fully comprehend the material.
Organized, helpful & accessible. Workload: with 3 other classes that required researching & writing (very doable). Deadlines/expectations/grading: clear & fair. Quizzes/tests: timed, throws a "personal fun-fact question" which I enjoyed after looking at numbers & solving problems. Gives weekly intro. Lots of reading & studying but not a hard class.
Great professor, I would take a course by him anytime.
The Goat, take him.
Great teacher. He throws out lowest homework and quiz grades. Homework is fair in both difficulty and amount. The one thing you need to watch out for is exams. Glassman's exams are fair, however the subject matter is hard being an upper level, high credit, accounting class. Just come to lectures and do the homework and you should be fine
I took online so MANY videos, LOTS of homework. It was a lot so I'm just re taking in person next semester. Some parts made sense while others didn't. There's quiz each week and many parts to each assignment. Maybe he's better in person but the online which just not it. There a specific book that has a code but I didn't even use
Prof. Glassman is amazing! Very funny, connects w/students even thru online course. Textbook is via Connect as well as HW and tests. Very supportive and lots of room for improvement. Plus all tests are same stuff as HW so if you understand that, you'll understand the exams. Everything was well structured so you can balance school and life easier!
If a professor is not keen on knowing how to teach virtually then you will easily get lost. I was able to keep up the entire class luckily because the curriculum was easy, but it honestly was no help that he posted old pre-recorded videos. To top that off he FORCES you to watch them by hiding secret quiz answers like “What's my favorite chips”…
I took the 8 week course and it honestly wasn't super overwhelming. He assigns a decent amount of work and gives a quiz per each chapter. The work isn't hard but it takes time. The videos and slides are helpful, all hw and exams are on connect. The exams are timed and on a lockdown browser. Nice professor, do your work on time and you'll pass.
I took his 201 and 202 and is an amazing professor. I would reccomened him to anyone!
Great professor online or in person, just get ready for a lot of busy work, he makes learning accounting actually seem somewhat interesting. I just hate the mcgraw hill assignments but if you need accounting to get some pre reqs done I highly recommend
Professor puts a personal question about something he likes (Ex. What is my favorite donut) at the end of each mini quiz. Incredibly frustrating as a student who is here to learn. Despite my efforts, my grade has dropped due to getting this question wrong. This is an accounting class, not a know your professor class. I am here to study accounting.
He is one of the most boring and bland professors this college has to offer. If you take this guy make sure its online so you don't waste your time sitting through his routine, never-ending snooze fest.
This professor assigns a bunch of hw and lecture vids if ur taking online. He assigns weekly hw and quizzes and it takes a lot of time to do. I recommend spreading out ea assignment and doing it day by day.Tests are also lockdown browser but not proctored. on quizzes he puts in a secret question from the lectures to make sure u watched them ALL
