Comes off as mean at first, but overall great teacher.
Great teacher... comes off as brash, but really the guy loves teaching. he doesnt take any crap, if your not there to learn, then dont show up. his door is always open for helpful advise, and he will go out of his way to help a student. I have had him for COMN 112, 114, 132, and COMI 169. This guy is a good teacher... if your there to learn
This class was hilarious! Hachem can roll with with the punches, and joke with the best of them... the class was easy, and useful for those who need people skills... definatly take for 169
I found him very knowledgeable when you could get it out of him. comes off as having no time for you. I found him no help at all, he likes to make you "find it yourself" not good for me.
a great guy once you get to know him.
Not much help at all. Will check with other courses before taking them as not wanting him as an instructor again.
Rude, Doesnt want to help his students, anytime you ask a question, his response is Google It. Attendance and test policy is horrid, no exceptions to missing class even if your dead or dying. Wont ever take a class with him again
Great teacher, expects a lot out of people entering the field. 2 doctorates in comp sci security, really knows his stuff.
Professor Hachem is very strict. His attendance policy is completely unforgiving. Missed one day due to my children being ill and I couldn't make up any part of my assignments nor does he offer extra credit. Gives assignments and tests out of the blue so hope you don't have issues come up those days. Recommend another teacher if possible.
Mr. H is very strict and is not really helpful I truly did not learn a thing in his class. Try to find someone else before taking his class. Also be prepare to do a lot of group project and group presentations.
Very strict with due dates and has huggggeeee expectations from all of us. BUT its too bad Mott doesn't hire more like him. He offers all the help and explanation one could desire but you must try finding the answer yourself first before him giving away the answer. Looking forward to more classes with him!!! Very open minded and flexible. Recommend
very strict prof, but fair with grades and knows his stufs. Good teach
No room for any reason on grades. Very strict. Not helpful at all. Rude, acts like he does not have time for students. Choose a different instructor (used loosely here) if at all possible!
This was my first Computer science class and the begining of my name being on the Dean's list. The Text book is written for Fedora and the Operating system provided by the Department is Ubuntu so working along with the textbook is/was an off and on type of thing(some things worked and some things did not work.)
This guy spent more time telling stories, albeit entertaining ones, than conducting a lecture. The class was disorganized and the workload was over-the-top. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he told us exactly what to study for the final, and NONE of it was on the test. Most people scored a 50%. Unforgivable.
I had Mr. H for 3 courses this past semester and he's very easy going with all the students, ery knowlegeble and very helpful. He has very expectations from all students which is a good thing I think. I don't understand the comments about him being strick and has no compromise. I think he's a great prof and wish most profs care as much as he does.
Easiest class everrrr, show up and you'll pass the class. Very much fun class, helped me get over my fear of presenting technology bcz I had no IT background. Had issues with some lasy students in group projects, but had to deal with them like real life. Great teacher, recommend him very much, best ever.
Mr. H has very high expectations for us, pretty hard class and overwhelming. This was my first networking class ever and I learned a lot. He's a great teacher and is available anytime outside of class to help. He's very knows his stuff and I think he's a great teacher.
The class that I think I have learned the most from is ComN-112. It is a networking class that I had to take and I learned a lot about networking. I think what helped me learn the most from this class was the assignment at the end where we had to make a power point of a building and make the network for that building. Joel is a great instructor.
The class was cool, I took 2 classes with him last semester and I am in anothet class this semester. I think he's pretty flexible if you have a valid excuse. I missed couple howework and he accepted the one with an legit proof. He's very good at he does, I recommend him very much.
I completed this course with him last semester, and I'll be in another course with him Spring semester, he is awesome, wish more instructors were like him. He'll try so hard to help u understand the material he wants all the students to learn the material.
Mr. Hachem is a "challenging" instructor. He wants you to succeed, therefore he makes you work like you should for the instruction. Pretty good instructor if you are interested in your course. Thanks
Great class, all hands on, we learned how to create connectors for cat 6 cable and installed patch panels, switches... Best teacher but pretty hard, you'll need to earn your grade but Mr. H is fair and help very much at the end of the semester
Had Mr. H in the Spring for 169 and the class was fun, but sometimes difficult because of the work group. Some of the other students didn't do their work or didn't show up for the day of the presentation. Overall, great teacher, recommend him very much.
Great instructor. makes an almost impossible to understant subject very clear. he also makes the class fun to be at. has good humor, and keeps you interested. there is a lot of bookwork, and he is a strict teacher. but all and all its not too hard.
Mixed feelings about the guy, in person he was nice but in the lab was not real helpful, gave me the vibe that he did not really know what he was talking about. Slow responder to email, slow grader, but when he responded he was really nice. This was a Open entry class so mostly done online with some lab work and I did not care for it much.
Mr. H. was very helpful throughout the semester. He was great at explaining the material. I didn't have much knowledge about networking before taking this course. I can say I learned very much. He was very nice allowing us to make up some work. Overall, great teacher. I recommend him very much.
The class was a lot of fun, because it was mostly hands on. We created a network from scratch. Joel, was great during the term, he was very helpful. Hard at some points but I understand he expects us to do great. Maybe, having some linancy sometimes might be helpful.
Possibly the rudest teacher I have come across. Seems to keep the knowledge to himself and expects you to find all information on your own. Very pompous. Project instructions are vague at best. Class lectures are a joke, flies through 3 chapters of power point slides in fifteen minutes. Tough grader, seems like he's in it for the money.
If you research and have specific questions he will give you just enough information to Google the answers. Be aware you will need to step up your game to survive his class.
Do not take him, he makes things harder than they're. I want people to be aware that he is not a good teacher very rude, and doesn't help you at all! This class is supposed to be easy, yet he's making this so much more difficult. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I hate I did.
He is kind of arrogant and relies heavily on group projects. I didn't really see how making us present things all the time helped us learn. It is pretty frustrating. He will also assign lots of homework and give pretty strict grades. I'd avoid him if possible.
Easiest class ever, most of the work is in class. Had to deal with classmates that did not want to do anything. Fun class, great teacher.
He did not use the book at all. Did not lecture in the class at all. I asked for help & he told me to figure it out for myself. I went to sign up for a tutor & there were none. He just expects you to know it based on what is taught in testout.
Fun class, easy but must dedicate time to compl the labs/exams in testout. Some sect r very long and I ran short on time on some of them bcz hve to mny cour. Dr. H is super cool and I meet with him in his off many times & he took helped me with what I didn't unders. Don't tell him I don't under anything, he won't help, you must have specific quest.
Easy class, just need to complete labsim HW. Dr. H is super cool, allowed all students to catch up and did deduct any points even after due date. He was very helpful when I needed help. Recommend him very much. Funny guy, he's cool.
Joel is the coolest teach ever, very understandable, I had legal issues outside of class and I missed 5 sections and when I contacted him, he allowed me to catch up and complete the late work. I had to work very hard to complete all the work I missed bcz he did give me a lot of time but it was good enough he allowed me to complete late work.
Didn't respond to emails in a timely fashion and also grades work super late so you won't know your grade right away. He's inconsiderate doesn't care about if something personal in your family happened he still feels like the work is obligated to be done no matter what. Don't take him. Joel Hachem online is horrible & he makes easy things difficult
Easiest class ever, requirements are clear and just need to complete your quiz and HW and you can get an easy A in the class. Mr. H, was super cool and replied to my e-mail when I had some issues with Access and we actually meet few times in his office and he helped me getting a litter better Access. Recommend him.
This class was overwhelming as I did not have experience with Linux, but Joel was there for me and helped me through the semester and I was able to pass the class. It is time consuming, most homework is long, but not hard, the exam are hard on the other hand. Joel is the best teacher at Mott.
The worse online instructor. Directions unclear. Never returns calls or have availability to meet. Displays no interest in assisting or educating in areas a student needs help. This is a beginning class but he doesn't know how to assist a beginner or teach a beginner.
The course is well organized, you can work on your own past. All homework is available in Blackboard, and pretty easy to follow. Joel was very helpful when I needed assistance. I think the video he had for us at the start of the semester was very helpful, it instructed us on what and how to get stuff done. I strongly recommend Joel, easy teacher.
Great teacher. Loves teaching, love the material, knows how to convay it and what's worth covering. He's been "in the trenches" so what he's teaching he's actually lived himself for his career before teaching. Easy going, cares about his students, very willing to help and is understanding!
A new prof. as of 2009 or so. Very good instructor with custom/fresh lecture notes. Really works hard at making sure all the students understand the material. If I had the opportunity to take more classes with this professor, I wouldn't hesitate signing up.
Something unclear? "Google it." Want to learn anything from the chapter? "Read again." How do you earn your grade? Presentations that have little to no relevance to the textbook material. Be prepared to carry the team by doing others' work. Group projects weekly, which you have to present. Honestly, Hachem is way too much of an over-achiever.
Great Instructor - he uses the power point to help lay out the topic of Cisco networking. For a student dealing with Cicso equipment in death for the first time, it is about the language of the network and all the acronyms. I think he is very clear in his presentation! Joel is hilarious, I wish more instructors at Mott are like him.
Very, very unclear directions, slow email response if any at all. I asked him a question about something and got a really snide remark and a "I'm not going to answer that" I dislike him as a teacher so much that instead of graduating in spring by taking his comi-169 class, I am taking it in fall with a different teacher.
Really helpful, nice guy. makes class interesting and fun to attend. i learned a lot. joel is very easy to approach or ask questions. i enjoyed having him as my teacher. Best teacher at Mott
Not helpful. He talks down to you. Overall not interested in the class.
Joel is the best teacher ever, I lovvvvvveeeeeeeeee him.
Great in Computer Science, but difficult to communicate with. No extra credit or make up, you get what you get. In another way of saying, his way or the highway. Linux is hard and lot assignments.
Joel is a great teacher. He is enthusiastic about networking and he conveys that enthusiasm to his students. Great classes, great instructor.
Mr. H. is super cool, I am new to computers and I had no idea what I was doing in this class and Joel took the time to help me and actually the entire class every time I needed help. He walked me through all the steps I wasn't getting in a easy, clear and funny way. He is a great instructor, would take him again with no hesitation.
Dr. Hachem was a great instructor, he replied to my e-mails with hours every time I needed help. The layout of the course was very nice and his instructions were very clear. I requested to meet with Dr. Hachem during non office hours because of work and stayed late to meet with me and help me with access. Defini one of the best teachers at Mott.
Rude instructor. He is unwilling to answer questions about assignments.
Mr. H is super cool and knowledgeable, he makes class fun and very interesting, he used many different ways to teach us. He is very fair with the grading process, he curve the final grade and it made a huge difference for me so far, no I can't screw-up the final project. Recommend him, great teacher.
Joel had all the course mapped at the start of the semester, you new exactly what needs to be completed. As an OE class, it was simple for me to follow and his due dates were more than fair. I had one problem I needed help with which the subnetting part and I meet with Joel 2 times and he helped me understand how to do the calculation. Best teach
Dr. Hachem is the best period, easiest class I had with him. Need to show up and participate in group work in the class and you'll pass easily. No tests or quizzes in this course. You need to have fun and pass easily, take Dr. H class. He'll curve your grade at the end of the semester and you'll end up with a grade you didn't imagine. Best teacher
Dr. Hachem is an agreeable and obliging instructor. I found his class to be very easy going, mostly because I showed up on time, did the work that was required of me, and participated in discussion. As long as you treat the class and the instructor with respect, you will get respect in return. Just go with the flow, and every thing will be fine.
A good teacher who seems to care about his students. Likes to tell lame jokes and knows that they are lame jokes, which makes them funny. His grading philosophy benefits the student but it doesn't feel like you pass the class without learning anything. His approach is more of a skill training approach where grades do not reflect the output
With no doubt he is one of the best professors have ever had. Joel gives a lot of really great examples and goes through the material so well. He goes around to everyone trying to help them if they have any problems by explaining examples one-on-one in depth. I can't say enough great things about him. He is not an easy professor but he is flexible.
You teach yourself the whole class. We meet once a week and he sits there for 15 minutes at the beginning of class quickly reading through a sloppy, useless powerpoint, and then you just work. He doesn't show you how to use commands. If you are gone the day he wants to assign your presentation (everyone must do one) he will not let you do it. bad
He reads directly from the book, and is unwilling to help and answer questions. So if you don't know what the book means, you're out of luck. Sad, really. There's no point in asking questions or getting clarification, because he says 'look in the book' every single time.
Dr. H is the best teacher at Mott period, I had him for 5 courses and I strongly recommend him. He helped me and 3 others this Winter 15 sem find jobs. He is there for u, u just nd to put the effort. His expectation in this class were super clear and easy to follow and he curves the final grade also. Thank you Dr. H for everything you did for us.
I took this class with Joel Winter 15 semester, and it was an easy class. Joel covered the needed material in class to complete the assign and get 100% on everything. Great instructor, his instructions are very clear and simple to follow. Just need to read the requirements and complete them properly and that is an easy A. Recommend him very much
COMI169 is a requir for my degree, & I heard frm other stude that Joel was a hard instru. I AM GLAD I did, it was an easy A, just make sure not to miss a class and you'll pass no prob. Most of the work is done in class & pretty easy to do. Only issue was wrking with other stude as some wr a pain. Recommend him 100%.
Hachem's ego gets in the way often, however he is a fantastic pool of knowledge & experience. He is a respectable person in the IT field, however his teaching skills lack. COMI is all presentations and he is a tough grader - but his feedback is critical to your success if you listen to it.
Not only do you promote individual thinking and learning, you roll with our ideas rather than correcting them and telling us the ''right'' way. You made your own syllabus and course material, which I admire. Most professors are stuffy and will go strictly by the book. You have the courage to go with what you think is right.
You are the best IT teacher I have had, if not the best teacher at Mott that I have had! Your teaching style really made a big impression on all of us. I have a friend who always says: ''Man, Joel is the most awesome teacher, I want to be like Joel.''
Dr. Hachem is a good professor. He wants students to learn and excel. This class was not easy, but I learned more about computer networking in this class than any other. He expects you to show up, read the material, do the work, and - most importantly - to give a damn. If he sees true effort on your part, it will be reflected in your final grade.
Linux. I love it and hate it. You can't master this language in seven weeks. But you sure can try and you will retain more than you realize! This class was very hard. But, as always, Dr. H found a way to spread credit across homework, a presentation, and tests so that students who tried would pass. He also clearly graded on a curve to help us out!
Excellent teacher, Joel helped me tremendously during this short spring semester. He helped me so many times one on one, he is super cool, and he cares a lot about his students. He goes over the example in class which makes it very easy to complete the homework. I strongly recommend him, A+ professor.
Joel is by far my inspiration. Coming out of high school, I never valued my learning, and thought of it as boring and redundant. Joel has changed my entire perspective on the value of education. His inspirational and hilarious lectures have allowed me to fully appreciate all that this great college has to offer. Best professor, no doubt.
Really funny guy. If you take the time to learn what he's teaching you will have no problem passing the class. Only two tests, so you need to study/take the practice tests. On my personal rating scale, he would be a 8/10.
When I say tough grader, that's because the assignments he uses are from another teacher, not his own, and then he will mark you down points for stuff that wasn't even on the grading criteria. It is an easy course but it doesn't seem like he puts in a lot of effort with his online students.
I took him for Intro to Linux Administration. Excited to learn and discuss about Linux OS and just getting knowledge in it overall I was quickly disappointed. Instead of paying for a book you were required to pay for a online course of "Test-out" and after that, that's it. He did zero teaching. Each class was attendance then just use Test-out
Refuses to teach or answer questions. He tells you to read the chapters and then do homework from the book. Little to no instruction and his response to questions on homework is to wait until after grading or to refer to the book. You are essentially required to teach yourself. He needs to find a profession that is not teaching.
Dr. H is amazing, I learned in his class about computer networking more than what I can ever imagine. One of the top teacher I have ever had. Always there for you, but expects you to put time and effort.
Easy A, Joel has all the assignments in Blackboard very well described. He demonstrate in class every single assignment in class and has videos for each assignment showing how it needs to be done if you miss class. Joel was so cool for allowing me to use his textbook for couple wks by the time I got my own. He also curve ur final grade. Best teach!
Easy 4.0!
Great class, we learned with much hands on to create real networks. Focused on subnetting a lot which I didn't understand before & now I do. Joel, is an awesome teacher, he expects everyone to try very hard & earn ur grade. Very fair with grading and curved our final grade! Strongly recommend him!!!!
Easy A, just be careful about detail for each assignment. Joel demonstrate each assignment in class and he has videos also showing how to complete each assignment. His instructions are simple to follow, and the quizzes are very basic and from the textbook. If you can take his class, do it, very cool guy!
Best teacher ever!! I hv had Joel for both online and normal courses & he is fantastic. I took this course online & he has Blackboard content so well designed that it super easy to follow. I asked him so many questions & he always reply asap. I ndeed his help few times & we meet in his office to go over my issues. I strongly recommend Joel!
The class is hands-on and Joel helped me learned so much about cabling & how to make a network. The group project was excellent to build a comp network from start to finish. Excellent professor, funny, easy to address, down to earth (doesn't like to even be called Doctor, just Joel) not like some other faculties here at Mott. Strongly recommend him
Dr. H class was supper easy to follow, the organization material was perfect. The assignments are not that hard, just few of them needed some research. I had couple issues with Blackboard and Joel, allowed me to retake the quizzes. Every time I send him an email, he replies immediately, its like he has no life :). Best teach!1
The course was great! I learned a lot about database & what I enjoyed the most was using Oracle & compiling my SQL code. Joel, is super cool & helped me a lot ouside of class. Just need to ask him! I strongly recommend him!
I had this guy the semester before and he will give you a zero even if you're 15 minutes late turning in an assignment. My adviser signed me up for his class again and I didnt realize it was the same guy. Ive been emailing him for 2 days straight about how confusing his instructions are and he has yet to respond back. Worst professor ive ever had.
One of the best professor at MCC. The course was so easy to follow in BB, he provided specific instruc as to how u nd to complete the work. Many hands on assignments which helped learn a lot! He is the only one that provides a practice exam both for midterm and final, which u can take more than ones & everytime u get different questions. Best teach
Best teacher at mott! Easy A, homework is composed of hands-on and case projects which are super easy to do! I strongly recommend Joel!!
Best teach ever, loved the hands-on and simulation we did! I learned a lot in this class on how to setup comp network! Strongly recommend Joel
The class is so easy, just need to follow instructions and there is videos showing how to complete the homework. Got an A! Joel is great, strongly recommend him.
Joel is a gentleman, I had to miss few classes due to my mom being at the hospital and was unable to complete the work on time. I explained my situation and he allowed me to turn in the work few days late which helped me tremendously. Really an awesome person!! I strongly recommend Joel as a professor!
Not a bad class, as a capstone, it was pretty feasible as Joel assigned us a part of the final project every week which I had to make sure to do the reading so I can complete the section. The assignments were super easy, after the reading, it takes 5 mnts to complete them. He doesn't much about how much you write! Cool teach!
I agree with the last post about this class, it is pretty easy if you keep up with the weekly assignments as they all build on each other. So, if you miss few, u r in trouble, but overall it was an easy class. I needed help few times, & Joel meet with me in his office and directed me in correctly completing the work! Great teacher!
This was the worst class I have ever taken. He is unclear on instructions and makes his assignments very complex. He expects you to be a genius programmer with little to no help. Also very rude when you try to contact him. Tried to find a tutor for this class and there were none available so I struggled a significant amount.
His class was very laid back and we had time to actually work on our homework in class, which is more than I can say for most classes. If you just put in time to do the homework and read, it's an easy 4.0. He is a really funny, laid back, and smart guy!
Super slow on grading, takes 2-3 weeks if not longer to get assignments graded. Frequently leaves out information or files needed for assignments, and comes of as a little rude when you bring up to him that stuff is missing.
Class was easy, just had to do exercises joel assigned for every chapter weekly and then at the end of the semester he assigned few projects which were fun to complete. joel is super cool at grading, as long as you have most of the code good he'll give you full credit. he also curve the final grade for class! i strongly recommend joel as an instruc
We don't get much feedback. I also haven't talked to the professor once, so this is purely off of the course work. Nothing is of his own work, it's all videos from other professors. You have a quiz once a week and there are no do overs on them or homework. He tells you what you got wrong, but there is no use since you can't fix anything.
Don't do your homework the day the module opens, because he'll change the assignment without telling anyone that he changed it. Study several chapters ahead before taking timed quizzes, because even if it says 'from chapter 7' it could have questions from any chapter in the book including 8, 9, 10 and up. Don't expect real answers to any issues.
Easily the worst professor I've ever had, he hasn't done an ounce of work since the class started, we are months into the semester and he has yet to grade a single assignment of mine. He hasn't taught us anything to do with C++, and makes every 20 minute program take 2 hours by piling on unnecessary steps and work, while refusing to do any himself
This is any easy class I did not receive the grade that I was hoping for in this class. I found him to be very rude and not helpful at all. I even had a death in the family and did not care when I tried to ask for help he replied twice to me and then he never replied to after to finish helping me. He Leaves very nasty comments after grading papers.
Lazy powerpoint professor that relies on Cisco to teach his class. Avoid.
This teacher is poorly organized. Assignments with due dates aren't posted on the calendar, causing you to miss them if you don't check every announcement. When I asked for help setting up VS code, he sent me to tech support. Be prepared to do a lot of outside research since he expects you to know about concepts never discussed in class.
Class is run by uCertify completely online, no lecture hours. Doesn't have modules available for view ahead of time, making planning for the rest of your classes in the semester a nightmare. Uses a completely different grading scale than the rest of the college. Honestly, it's baffling how this professor is allowed to just proctor uCertify material
he's a very nice guy but he doesn't really teach anything, he does a 20min PowerPoint with snips of quotes taken out of the book, not really explaining anything further or giving examples or walkthroughs of anything. I ended up just reading the whole book myself and using it as the "course" since he doesn't add anything to it.
Took Database Concepts course with Dr. H (my 6 course with him), and it was an exceptional learning experience. Dr. H is an exceptional prof and he is super kind and understandable. The assignments were very good, gave me great hands-on expe in applying database. I am grateful for all the support Dr. H gave me since I started at MCC. Dr. H is a W!!
Dumpster fire of a class as always through uCertify. Get ready to attend Google University to learn anything. Requirements changed constantly. To be fair, he's on staff at every college in a 300 mile radius, so he's probably confused about which class he's answering for. The only good thing he did was curved the grades. Avoid this man at all costs.
I've taken this professor in multiple classes, and they are all the same. It stuns me how they're allowed to "teach" multiple courses when in reality, they let uCertify do everything for them. When it comes to actual things he needs to grade, it can take up to a week to get a grade back, with comments usually being minimal in nature. Very lazy.
Easy class! Joel is awesome, he was super supportive with me when I got sick and missed assignments and allowed me to get them done with no penalty. Fun project, it covered everything we studied! I strongly recommend Joel, just make sure to communicate with him.
Easy class, just make sure to keep up with the weekly assignments and final project. Joel was good overall, I enjoy having him as a professor (I did have him for 4 other classes). No complain, I do recommend him.
Not great communication via email.
Joel was awesome and the class was super easy. all assignments were open first day of class and he allowed us to work ahead. I had 2 emergencies, and Joel was super cool to work with me and allowed me to complete missed assignments. easy A and great teach, i strongly recommend him.
I guess if you want to take a uCertify course but then pay someone else even more money while you do it then take this class.
This class is all about self-study and keeping up with the weekly assignments. Professor Joel has a hands-off approach, but Unstuck ai was a huge help in preparing for the quizzes and the final project. Overall, it's a straightforward course if you stay on top of the work.
Instructor's teaching is a complete mess. Last-minute cancellations, zero communication, and dumping everything on UCertify while expecting students to magically learn. It's like paying for education but getting an automated learning system instead of real teaching. This isn't education, it's academic neglect.
I think dude chose wrong subject to teach. English would be the subject that feels like he is teaching. No hands on , no lectures, just read the material and write essays or discussion questions.
I have taken him for multiple classes as I didn't have a choice. He is very lazy and crutches on using uCertify which in my opinion is a terrible way to learn. The only reason I could pass his classes was because I had experience programming with C++ beforehand.
Used uCertify to teach which is terrible and design explain anything. He gives terrible instructions and is all around an awful proffesor and is very hard to learn from.
If you don't like teaching why do you do it?
Unfortunately, there's not enough characters to write for my review. He is the worst teacher I have ever had, not even being hyperbolic. He places all of his classes behind a wall of text that makes it abnormally difficult to learn. In my opinion, the reason he uses a grading increase curve is to gain favorability and increase his teaching score.
Difficult to understand, lack of concise in class lectures, offers very little support.
Difficult to understand, few in class lectures, offers no support.
Do not take this professor!! Use him as a last resort, you have been warned!
Joel is a great teacher, he's very understanding & always willing to help during the semester, we meet outside of class about 5 times for tutoring. His teaching style is flexible, and if u have a valid reason for needing help or an extension, he'll work with you (no bs). I strongly recommend him!
Yo Dr. H is mad chill & actually knows his stuff when it comes to network security. No boring lectures, most of time we did hands-on activities in class, super easy to rack up points & actually learn. Super understanding but got b real with him, don't try to BS, he'll call u out. Best vibe for a tech class,& actually cares about his students.
You can tell this man is in here because you have the real reviews, and then you have the fake ones talking about how awesome he is right after. All we did was write papers in class. That is not hands on activity. IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER OPTION FOR TEACHER, DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN'S COURSE.
Very knowledgeable in what he teaches, and a nice dude. Depending how good you are at security, the homework will take you many hours each week. Not very hard, just takes forever. Takes a long time to grade and lectures are very stale, but the tests are take home open book/note which is nice. Read the book, do the homework, and you'll do fine.
easy class, just make sure to show up to class to complete the activities, no makeup if u miss them. other than that just need to complete weekly work and a final project. easy A, i recommend Joel, good teach.
