If you want an easy A then just turn in your work, but don't bother staying for the whole class time. That is useless.
Hard class - but great teacher. Extremely helpful, and he WANTS you to pass!
one of the best classes i have ever taken. he makes you think about things in a whole new way, and brings up all sides of every argument. very highly recommend him; i thought he was great.
This was definitely a class I had to work at but that's a good thing. Prof Jensen really cares about his students and wants them to pass! He is a good teacher and does a pretty good job at explaining things and answering questions students have. He's a great guy and not boring at all.... Highly reccomend!
Mr. Jensen is very good at listening to students and helpful with guiding you through the problems that you may have. He wants students to succeed and is good at challenging your way of thinking which helps to improve your critical thinking and anylizing ability! I love his class!!!
I absolutely recommend this professor, you will enjoy his class.
As long as you study what he tells you to study, you can pass this class but you HAVE to study.
Highly recommend him! You will learn tons from this class and read the materials that he posts on D2L if you want to get an A with all three essays that are required to write. He's very helpful and you will have totally different outcome by the end of the semester and will actually think differently!
ProfessorJensen is a great teacher!I would recommend him to anyone! There is about10-18in class assignments:a few in group&the rest are individual. He is very helpful.Don't be shy to ask for his help.He even said,in class as a joke, that don't leave him sittin in his office. There is one midterm test. Then there is,two papers.A third paper is a final.
good tech larned alot about ethics as well as my self
Jenson is an amazing teacher. he is one of the few good guys left who actually wants you to pass. if you have the option to take jenson. do NOT pass it up. easy A to add to your GPA.
Awesome professor. If you show up for class, take notes, and do the small amount of homework he does assign you will get a good grade. Very fair and lenient grader. Topics in class are interesting and he helps you see both sides to an argument. Take him if you are going to take any philosophy class.
Nice guy, genuienly wants students to do good. Missed classes but still got a good grade. Do your work and takes notes and you should pass!
Professor Jensen is excellent teacher. I encourage you to take his class.
Great Professor. I enjoyed ethics class. most of his exams are open book. we wrote three papers for this class. He is really expert in his field.
Excellent professor, very clear, and light hearted.
Outstanding Professor. Helpful, clear, knowledgable. Took him for Ethics and World Religions. Grades fairly. Open-minded. Recommend him? Of course. HE WILL MAKE YOU THINK, but in a fun way.
Jensen is excellent professor. I love his classes. I took Intro Logic fall 2010. For this class has six exams and six assignments. All exams and assignments are direct questions from the text book. For all these questions you find the answers on the book. But the exams are classed book. You need to practice those questions on the text books.
fun guy, extremely knowledgeable. made the class fun and engaging. take his classes, you wont be disappointed!
This teacher is fantastic. Explains everything very well and we have great debates. Little to no hw. Great class.
Dr. Jensen is a great professor, by far my favorite so far at North Hennepin. A very enjoyable class, where you can learn alot without having a lot of work.
Great professor - clear, helpful and makes you think. Very knowledgeable in his field and gets the class engaged in discussion. Actually cares about his students' learning progress
Prof. Jensen was VERY helpful and knowledgeable on the subject. every class had a great discussion. grading is reasonable, and open notes on tests. great teacher! if you show up and get involved in the class you should have no trouble getting a decent grade.
Awesome teacher who obviously LOVES logic. Keeps the class on track and has a perfect personality for teaching this class.
Joel was awesome. He was effective at engaging student's in debate and covering all sides to ethical issues presented in class.
He is an awesome prof! I wish all professors at NHCC were like him. He's very clear when explaining new things, and actually wants you to do well (Tests are on a curve!) Studying with a partner helps because farther into semester things are extremely confusing, wouldnt recommend skipping class. Overall great class and experience!
Joel is great,he helps student succeed with his skilled teaching methods. He is the best...
He was an awesome teacher. I had to take the class for my degree and was dreading it. Expected to do really bad in the class and ended up with an A! Would recommend him to anyone.
Awesome professor! This was probably the only class that I was dreading because I thought I wouldn't do well in, but I actually got an A :) If you come to class, do your homework, and ask questions, you'll be fine :) He is willing to help you to the best of his knowledge and he makes the subject very interesting. Class can be fun!
Dr. Jensen is the best teacher in the world. His class is difficult but with his extreme knowledge and love of Logic he makes you want to learn as much as possible. This man should be teacher of the year!
LOVED HIS CLASS! He's a fun professor also. I would love to take more courses taught by him.
Took him for Logic. He's a great instructor and his approach to breaking down and explaining topics was great. He's funny and knows WAY too much about logic.
If you come to class, Read the book, Ask questions and work with others around you the class will be easier than if you did none of these. He is a fabulous instructor and I would recommend him to anyone who is taking Logic
Best teacher I've ever taken! Lecture was always very interesting and will make you think above and beyond. Not the easiest grader, but it's acceptable - once you know what he looks for, you'll do fine. He's really helpful and explain things very well. I've taken three of his classes and loved all three of them. I would definitely recommend him.
Dr. Jensen is awesome! He's a nice guy and he loves teaching logic. I would recommend him to any student. Keep in mind that this class requires a lot of studying - homework consists of one packet per exam (due on exam day once every couple weeks). If you show up to class and pay attention you will learn a lot. I enjoy logic now, thanks to Joel.
Do not miss class. Joel Jensen is a great teacher, but Logic class can be very confusing if you try to learn it from the book alone. If you do show up, however, it is not so bad. Jensen is the man. Great guy. He explains things perfectly and with great patience.
Joel is the clearest, most helpful and fun teacher ive ever had. He makes difficult material easy to understand. He sticks to the syllabus and grades exams pretty quick.
Dr. Jensen is an awesome teacher. I hated this class but he was more than willing to help and encouraged me every time I came to class. Do not miss a class. You will learn more from him than from the book. He is a very nice man and made the class bearable.
Dr. Jensen was one of the best teachers I have had. The class was very hard and you really need to work hard but he is there for you all the way. Alway willing to help and answer questions. The book was not helpful. You need to be in class. He should write the book himself! I hated the class but happy to have him for my teacher.
Dr. Jensen was a great teacher. I hated this class but he encouraged me until the end. It is very important not to miss a class. The book is not helpful but if you go to class Dr. Jensen is. He should write the book! I am very glad I had him for a teacher!!
I've taken over 70 credits in college, and Dr, Jensen is the best teacher i've ever had. He's always on time, answers every question, and just makes class fun. He deserves an award! Take his classes!
Very intelligent and enthusiastic teacher! At first, I was unsure of him referring to himself as Doctor Jensen, as other instructors go by their first name. However, I do believe he has earned that title and deserves my utmost respect!
Great teacher, engages the class always asking out opinion. Let's you rewrite papers and understandable about late work. Overall genuine nice guy.
Probably one of the greatest teachers i have evr taken in school history. At first i was scared of his logics class, but the way he taught helped me earn an A+ in the class. Attending the class is the main thing you need to do to understand the lesson cuz the book isnt helpful at ALL. I recommend him 100%. No regrets!!!!
He keeps the class interesting and really involves the class in discussions. He makes you really think. But pay attention, show up, and take notes because the tests can be difficult
As CM PUNK would say "He's the best in the world". Hands down
When I first decided to take this course I was so nervous, but after attending he made me feel comfortable and he really want to see his students succeed. I am taking him again in two other classes because he is an awesome teacher.
I have 3 top favorite profs, and Dr. Jensen is one of them! He gives AMAZING lectures that really make you think. He also works humor into them to keep them interesting. Just show up for class, read the material he assigns, and review it again before the tests and you should easily get an A. Tests are a bit difficult, just study a bit.
Environmental Ethics class. I wouldn't be surprised if I found a teacher I liked more. He's a smart, easy going guy. He took time to answer my questions after class; he truly cares about his students and enjoys their participation in class lectures. A down to earth kind of guy. The class itself was very informational and makes you think.
Dr. Jensen is an amazing instructor! He does a great job of actively getting the class to participate in open discussions. I took Peace Ethics. Apparently this class is only offered in the Spring. Dr. Jensen is always in a great mood. He is always open to discuss any questions or concerns. Dr. Jensen is someone I highly recommend to everyone.
His lectures were easy to understand and if it was unclear, he would put things in another way until it is understood. What was expected was clearly explained and therefore easy to be successful.
He was very supportive. The first day of class he asked, "Who's taking this class for the 2nd time?" Then he asked, "Who's taking Logic for their very last coarse before they graduate?" He knows it's a difficult subject & introduced the tutors to the class. They would stay to help with questions along with Professor Jensen. He was amazing.
Best professor ever!!! He is so helpful and the class is super easy. At the beginning of the class he tells you that the test questions are the starred questions from the book which have the answers in the back of the book. No reason to not ace every test.
Funny humor. Lectures are a little boring because the class is 2 hrs but is an extremely easy class. Easy tests. 1 presentation. A lot of reading. Sometimes has sign in sheets.
Dr. Jensen is a very enjoyable professor. His lectures are memorable and he is very good at expounding on a concept until everyone understands. If you're struggling with a concept or with a few homework problems he'll help you through it in his office hours. The lectures are much more helpful than the textbook, so it's best not to skip class.
FANTASTIC TEACHER! He is clear and makes a tough/boring subject fun and entertaining. DO THE HOMEWORK WELL and you should pass. He is ALWAYS available and willing to help. I actually found myself enjoying the class, subject and the teacher a lot!
Have had him for two different classes, and loved him in both. He is really good at what he does and his teaching methods are very clear.
Dr Jensen is a great teacher. He is passionate, engaging and always willing to help. The concepts covered in this class are difficult so I highly recommend taking it in-person and not skipping class. Pay attention, do your homework, study for the test and you can easily pass. If you took logic before & failed or withdrew, take Jensen's class!
Joel Jensen is probably one of the best professors I have ever had at NHCC and someone I will always remember. For his classes just print off the study guide and take notes on it in class. His lectures give you most of the answers. The rest you have to read. The multiple choice on the tests are difficult but I managed to get Bs. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN
Dr Jensen is my #1 favorite professor. He's energetic and very invested in your success. He makes himself available and is very helpful if you need it. Pay attention in class and do the practice problems and you will do well. All the test questions are in the book! Very little homework.
Took his Ethics and Political Philosophy classes. He's a funny guy and cares about his students. I've learned a lot. He's not a tough grader, but is more curious about your positions and how you defend them.
Hands down, one of the most caring and intriguing profs out there. Do your assigned readings, go to class (all of the exams are literally off of lectures, and he makes it a good lecture so it isn't the least bit hard to sit through), and take notes (open notes exams!!!!!)! Participate. Gives great feedback. Take him!
Joel is a great professor - his environmental ethics class is interesting whether you're interested in the subject or not. He forces you to really question why you think the way that you do about the topics you discuss. Do the reading (it isn't too much) and listen to what he has to say. He's smart, funny, and engaging. Take his class!!
This teacher was recommended to me by a co worker of mine, I needed a math credit and logic covered that credit. He is a wonderful teacher, and really does take the time to help. I recommended this class and more importantly the teacher to my boyfriend as well and he was thrilled with the class as well!
Such a good, helpful professor. Hes so understanding and is one of the instructors here who genuinely wants you to do well. His lectures are so interesting and even though the class periods are longer its very easy to stay focused. 10/10 would recommend. His class fills a goal area so take philosophy, I learned so much from it.
Honestly such a fun professor. I recommend you take a class with him so you can experience a truly amazing instructor. He has such a passion and enthusiasm for what he teaches that he makes you love what you learn before you realize it. People have their doubts about logic, but if you take it with Dr. Joel Jensen, he will help you succeed.
He is easily one of my favorite teachers ever. The lectures are so fun just show up and participate and you'll do well on the tests. His tests aren't the easiest but if you understand the material and the reviews you'll easily get an A. Again just be sure to show up and listen, otherwise you won't pass.
He has such a good attitude and makes you try. I would sometimes leave a homework question blank. He would look through my packet, give me a hint and make sure I tried.
Joel is my favorite professor!!!! Passionate and hilarious!
His intro to logic class isn't easy, but he explains things amazingly. He is really funny and personable which makes going to class fun. He goes a little fast but if you can keep up you should be fine. Easy grader, and is always open to help his students.
Great Professor. Sometimes has jokes. Isn't as left wing as he shows more of a centrist. Be sure to study.
I've taken both Ethics and Environmental Philosophy with Mr. Jensen. His humor is my favorite and his lectures are incredibly interesting! If you want to get the most out of his classes, listen, ask questions and do the readings. His tests aren't hard if you do those three things! One of my favorite professors at NHCC!
Quite a good class if you want to learn about environment, global peace etc. However, has quite a bit of right wing crack pottery without the climate change denying part.
This profesor is great! He is really nice and his lectures are very interesting. He has a unique teaching approach, as there really isnt homework apart from just reading certain texts which will be discussed in class. Tests arent hard- take notes/pay attention during lecture. I took him for Ethics & environmental ethics. I recommend taking him!
Prof. Jensen didn't have any specific textbook, he just posted online PDF's or news articles. I took his 3 hour class and it was usually a 2 and 1/2 hour lecture with a half hour to write an in-class assignment. I really liked him and he graded quite fairly
I took his logic class and he was really clear as to how things went. the actual material was a bit difficult however he was an amazing help. helps you a lot as long as you're trying. i would take his class again! textbook is needed and attendence matters for you because its easy to fall behind. i would give him a 9 out of 10!
Dr Jensens ethic class was an easy A. We had to read two books but I literally didnt read either of them and still got an A in his class. Just listen to his lectures and take notes on everything and youll be smooth. His lectures are awesome. Hell teach you to be more openminded on controversial topics without being too political about it
Ive never had a teacher who has inspired me and moved me the way that he has. You can tell that he genuinely cares about what he teaches and he does it with passion. Its been a few years since I've taken the class with him, but I still think about what he taught us all the time. I still recommend his env. Phil. class to so many of my friends.
Mr Jensen was such a lay back professor. He was so easy. His tests are open book. Take all his notes and listen when he has his lectures and you will be fine.
I took his logic class and I enjoyed it. The material is tough, but if you attend the lecture and do your best you can get a easy A. Great professor.
The best guy around town. Literally so so so so helpful especially with the pandemic making classes online.
Fall semester haven't even ended yet but TAKE HIM. Already registered for his environmental class next semester. Love his style of teaching and the way how he does his materials. Show up to the zoom meeting & every material is already covered for the exam. Super nice & understanding of people situation that he would give us time to submit our exam.
His teachings in this class is definitely an eye opener. What I enjoyed about his class is that he's very open to reading and listening to your opinions. It's a class where you can speak your mind on the topics we're discussing. If you write about what you learned in class, or put down your own opinions into the writing exams, it will be an easy A
He is very calm, cool, knows his materials, persuasive and intelligent. He provokes students to think, never gets mad and always knows what is been asked. Explains, guides and leads well. Clarifies and critiques respectfully. His assignments are very straight forward and balanced. His terms are very much relevant and real.
I didnt do anything until the last week of school. I passed and it wasnt and problem. Just dont skip zooms
Great Professor, understanding the situation, especially with Covid 19 pandemic, assist me all the way till the end of the semester. If you are struggling with him please don't hesitate to reach out because he will assist you.
Hands down my favorite teacher. I am awful at math and he made logic so easy to understand and fun!! It ended up being my favorite class solely because of him. HIGHLY recommend taking one of his classes. Such an incredible person and again, the best teacher hands down.
Amazing professor. I suck at math but professor Jensen made this easy. I did fall behind (which is complete ALL my fault) I initially fell behind because I didn't understand some of the things. He was so helpful and understanding. ADVICE JOIN HIS LECTURES don't be scared like me, he is very helpful and goes over HW questions. He is very patient.
I'm honestly sad that this class is about to end. Professor Jensen put together a really fun syllabus, and all he cares about is that you understand the material and share your opinion. I took online synchronous, and the only homework was reading, a zoom meeting twice a week, and 3 exams consisting of multiple choice and 3 essay questions.
I took professor Jensen for Ethics half in person than online. BEST TEACHER YOU COULD GET HAVE IN BOTH CASES. His in-person classes are straightforward and EASY. Sometimes at the end of his lecture, we would take a mini quiz on what we discussed but nothing too hard. His online class is the exact same. Only 3 exams total. EASYIEST A!
Dr. Jensen is one of the best teachers I have ever had! Global Justice, Peace and Conflict was my second class that I took with him and I enjoyed both classes so much. He is always open to different perspectives and opinions, while making his classroom a safe space for everyone. I could not recommend Dr. Jensen's classes enough!!
Professor Jensen clearly explains the reading materials in his lecture notes. His lectures are thorough and understandable, and it is best that you write your lecture notes so that when it comes to exam time you are not scrambling to find the answers for the questions given. Overall, this class was GREAT and Professor Jensen is approachable.
Honestly one the best professors I have had in this college. As long as you do your readings(which don't take very long)and pay attention to the lectures, the exams are fairly easy. The exams have to do with your own opinions on the topics that are mentioned so (personally) it was fun. He's also very funny which makes the class extra interesting
Dr. Jensen is probably the kindest teacher I have ever had. He is respectful and encouraging to every student. He is also one of the most passionate teachers I've ever known. He clearly loves his work and the subjects he teaches. That's important! His incredible teaching skills and sense of humor make learning fun!
AMAZING! he is probably my favorite professor so far. 3 tests total and they're all open notes, doesn't take attendance but make sure u show up to know the content. amazing lectures you will never get bored. he is very understanding and chill. literally so cool and funny you will not regret taking his classes
Jensen is one of the most passionate professors I've had. He truly cares about what he teaches and those he's teaching. I took PHIL 1020 and 1200 with him, and in both classes, there were 3 open note tests for which he prepares you well. He is amazing and I would recommend him even if his classes aren't needed just to learn more about the world.
Prof Jensen is super chill and makes this ethics class a breeze. With open-book exams, straightforward assignments, and helpful lectures, it's an easy A. I used unstuckstudy along with the textbook for study prep and aced it.
U can definitely tell this guy is deeply passionate about the subject he teaches! Hes always down to answer any questions and provide examples to simplify concepts. Be sure to show up to each class bc stuff he talks about in his lectures, that might not be covered in the readings, may be on the exams. There are pop quizzes here and there but no hw!
Dr. Jensen is a respectable professor and is extremely passionate about his teaching. He challenges students about their moral values/beliefs and will create arguments/counterarguments. I like to believe that this class can help you connect more with yourself as a human being- otherwise, your assigned reading is HW, and three BIG exams.
i love him i would take this class again 1 million times if i could
