Class was awesome. Too much material, too little time. We worked in groups, which was very helpful. He showed pertinent films and most important, was able to give clarity to a very broad topic. Very fair.

Highly recommended. I've learned more in five weeks than I learned in all of high school and other history classes i've taken in college. This is best online format I've taken..and I've taken over 6 online classes. He gives "weekly radio addresses" so it's like sitting in a lecture. And we meet "cool dead people."

Great Teacher! He loves to teach and loves history. His test are hard and require alot of work. Approachable and understanding.

This was the most fun online class I've ever taken. It was not an easy ride, but his lectures are online power points and he makes history so interesting. (I know I didn't think it was ppossiable either!) We talked about what he called "cool dead people" every week and that's who the tests were on. Not the boring information in the book.

His tests are hard, but if you study all the material, you can get an easy A. He does make history interesting, because he relates it to cool dead people, so that it is not just boring dates and battles. He is HOT!!!!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I'll definitely take more classes with this prof. He makes history come alive, making it interesting and relevant to contemporary issues. Wonderful grasp of technology, and really does well with online format. Not an easy A by any means, but an easy education, which is even better! And yes, he is quite hot!

very good teacher his tests are self explained if you study you will do good,he doens't give any homework and if u miss a class you can go on WebCt and download the lecture i would recomend this class and the teacher is hot too bad engaged now !

His Class is amazing!! I took him for both US History and WOrld History. HE WAS AWESOME!!!! Hi tests were so good.... if you studied what he told you good, then you will get great grades!!! We had a take home final!!! The class is great. He LOVES class participation!! He focuses on the concepts of history not the dates!

This class was a lot of work, but Professor McMahon was very knowledgeable about the subject. He made American History interesting. Because the class was so informative, the essay style tests were a breeze. He welcomed the feedback on how to improve the class. Always responded to emails and knew your grade.

This online class is somewhat difficult. Mr. McMahon is a great teacher and has a love for history which is expressed. His online lectures are very interesting and helpful. He just expects you to devote A LOT of time to this class!! There is a lot of reading, discussion and the tests are intense but there are only 3 and a book review.

Took this class last semester... great guy, really knows his stuff too. i got an A in his class, i wish i had taken my other history classes with him. just study and participate in class and you will do well

This guy is okay, class involved tons of work and reading. The week is full packed of work. Also requires a lot of outside work on your own. He has a bit of attitude on him and likes to play devil's advocate too much. Essays are all short answers and they're very detailed.

He is not a great teacher. He likes for you to get your info from the web and always tells you to google things. It's easy to end up with inaccurate info. He likes to discuss how we feel about things more than teach the facts of history and history pretty much is a series of facts. he is not very concerned with fact....but he is hot!

I enjoyed this class. Professor McMahon was a very enthusiastic teacher and made learning history quite interesting. There was a lot of reading required for this class. I loved his teaching style and method of test preparation.

If you take him online, be prepared to read and work your butt off just to barely pass. If you love history, he will be the best teacher for you. If you don't, be prepared that you might not get and A in his class. Just FYI

This teacher is very difficult. He gives you all of the necessary tools to succeed, but you have to put a LOT of time into this course. He doesn't grade fairly. In my opinion he's an idiot. However, I passed the class and that's all that matters.

I took the online class. It isn't hard, but if you aren't 'smart', do not take his class. If you are not good at writing, typing, able to find good sources on the internet and not plaugarise do not take his class. I learned a lot and got an A, but I devoted a lot of time to his class and I am an excellent writer. He wants you to think, not just spit back dates and facts.

It was a HARD "A"... but it is possible.... with alot of work. He does not use the book. To make an "A"... You have to write his lectures word for word. He tests from his lectures mostly. Some questions have to be "googled". NO MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAMS!!! Exams are ESSAY!!! This is regarding his online HIST I course.

McMahon was an overall great instructor. I took an online course and he was very thorough. Participate and study and you will do fine. I am not a big fan of history at all and I made all B's on my test and final.

I took this online.Wonderful teacher,but he is definately not easy on you. He wants you to learn and know the information. He loves what he does and wants you to love it too. You must read and listen to his weekly radio addresses!You will write alot of essays also. He makes it feel like you are in a classroom. Best online class I have taken.

Awesome professor! You just have to be sure to pay attention to what he says because he ALWAYS tests on what he tells you-not what's in the textbook. I thought he was very helpful and kept in touch well with the class. Awesome guy!

This was an interesting and very challenging class. Mr. McMahon makes you think outside of the box. There was a lot of reading involved and you can't get behind. Mr. McMahon teaches with great enthusiasm that makes you want to learn.

Very nice guy but requires way too much time. You will learn a lot but you will have to study at least three to four hours a week. I like him, but i would recommend that you do NOT take this class. I was so overwhelmed with the work load that i could give little attention to my other courses. TAKE AT UR OWN RISK.

Like alot of teachers based in Dunwoody, this guy lives and breathes history. He seems to be in love with the sound of his own voice. TONS of homework! I took him online and he even has recorded lectures that will suck every moment of the numerous hours required to pass his class. Very time intensive, but if you work hard, he will recognize it.

He is a great teacher to take online. He does these Weekly Radio Addresses that you can listen to, and Ponderables. They help a great deal. He makes History interesting. The book we used Nation of Nations was awesome (and I'm not just saying b/c I work for Mcgraw-Hill either..lol). Seriously, the book wasn't dry at all.

worked really hard to make the class interesting! Didnt just read notes but he made it really easy to pay attention and actually made history interesting! It didnt hurt that he wasn't bad to look at either ;-)!

Dr. McMahon's class is not the easiest but it isn't the hardest either. If you put in the effort and do the work you will receive a good grade. He is extremely fair.

Put effort into the class and you will be rewarded. I didn't put as much into it as I should have but I hate online classes. Like his radio addresses he's really akward and funny in a way. And to the guy who said he was good to look at, wtf? Weird. Anyway I say he's not the best but not the worst. Worth taking the class.

great teacher. you will learn a lot from him. put effort into the class and you'll do just fine. always be into his discussions and always have something to say at least just a little something. if i can get a B you can get an A.

I putted less effort than i should have but i still got B. so i am happy for the grade considering the effort that i put in.

He is the best. I would advise you to take him. I had his online class. You are expected to participate in discussions, 1 paper, 3 tests. Very straight forward. He has recorded lectures, he participates in discussions and responds to emails very quickly. Even if you dont like History you will LOve this class!

Took his class online and he is VERY clear about his expectations but his class is a lot of work. He is fair, curves his exams and as long as you keep up, you will learn a lot and pass. He is EXTREMELY passionate about his history!

Excellent professor! Took his online class and loved it. He requires 5 discussion postings a week but they are easily found in book or via google as long as there is a citation. He gives interesting lectures via ppt/audiorecording. Tests aren't cumulative. Highly recommend this professor!

I took the class online. Just read and answer the five questions a week and you will do fine. No projects and just three test. There are no pop quizzes. A very low stress but informative class.

Mr. McMahon is an incredible instructor, especially for a distance learning course. His passion for history comes out loud and clear and will motivate you to do better in his class. This is not an easy class, don't fall behind, but if you take it seriously you will do fine. He is a masterful wordsmith, pay attention. Thanks Joel.

Awesome teacher. I took his online class. It's very interesting and he keeps it fun. The test are semi-hard, but if you study you will do well. very quick reply with questions.

TOOK ONLINE- Even though the subject is boring & he only gives 3 exams(5 grads total)-- he shows what it means to teach an online class! He has audible lectures, & only require weekly discussions questions to answer.If you really study, you can pass the exams & the class! He is very responsive and grades with a curve! Still dont like US hist tho!>b

good teacher yet hard, he makes you work for your grade. Does not cut breaks so make sure you read the required material and read the links that he gives you. I would take him again!

Best class I have taken yet. Great teaching method. If you like history, you will love this class. He makes you work for your grade but that is how you learn. People say he is hard but it is not hard if you do the reading and work behind it. He is goofy and a bit arrogant, but in a fun way.

Dr. McMahon has a great teaching method that really engages the student. Rather than force feeding you a bunch of surface based information, he encourages you to think critically and formulate your own answers or opinions about the subject matter. This may be difficult for some people, but I rather enjoyed it, especially for a history survey.
