DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! he is so very boring and you dont learn anything!!! i hated going to his class! and if you go to his office hours he will tell you that you are studying wrong and you suck at life baasicly...STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!!
Nice professor but exams are extremely difficult and they make up 80% of your grade. This 100 level class is harder than some upper level classes I've taken and I'm a senior.
Hard class with hard exams. If you go to class and listen to him everyday you will learn a lot, very clear, quality lectures. If you choose not to go to class, most of what is taught in class on the powerpoint lectures are in the book. Overall enjoyable class. He would be a fun teacher to have for a discussion class, very knowledgeable
Professor Quamme was very difficult for sure. I didn't like going to class and I didn't pay attention for the most part. I went to his office hours and I think he helped. He didn't tell me I sucked at life. He is really hard for being a 101 class for sure though. If you have to take him just be prepared for it to be hard. But he isn't that bad
Hard? Are you kidding me? This was the biggest blow-off class ever. If you are a science major with a couple of the harder science courses under your belt this class will be a joke. If you are a freshman who doesn't know how to study then you better learn... this is college.
Definately not an easy class; hard tests. A lot of useless memorizing. He does make up for it with easy assignments and extra credit. I went to every class and can honestly say that I learned nothing and it didnt help me on tests at all. I would definately not recommend him, I'm sure there are a ton of easier PSY 101 teachers.
Nice guy, funny and willing to help. Pay attention in class, and take more notes then on the slides... but mentions everything that you will need to know for the tests. Need to memorize a lot for the tests... but thats psych
Honestly I didnt really like Prof Quamme's style of teaching. Hes a cool and funny guy but his test were really hard and you had to memorize A LOT of crap...my roomie had the same class with a different prof --SAME MATERIAL because we studied together-- but the test were much easier. He does give 4% ec though which was really nice.
I really liked Prof Quamme. He is a funny guy and he really gets into what he is teaching; it's like he wants to be there teaching his students. The exams are not that difficult if you go to class and pay attention and he posts all of the powerpoints online, so that helps with studying. I would really recomend this class and this professor!!!
Had him for 101 last year and really liked him. Once again, great class, great professor. THE best psych prof I've had at GVSU, hands down. He breaks everything down and gives great analogies for everything. Definitely take him.
He was a decent teacher, but went straight off notes from powerpoint. put all notes on blackboard so there is no need to go to class. exams are extremely hard. was not a fan of his teaching style
The information is a little boring, but he tries his best to keep you involved and make it interesting. It's hard, but I think he does a good job. Exams are not cumulative, which is a blessing! He tries to be funny and it's a pretty good time. He's nice, so give him a chance.
Good professor, really knows his information, funny guy and makes the subject interesting. Only problem is that his tests are extremely hard and very tricky, cover a lot of info.
Great teacher, very helpful and fun to interact with in the classroom. It's important not to miss this class though because concepts are pretty confusing if read just in the book.
Attendance isn't mandatory but I'd recommend going as often as possible. He's pretty quirky which makes lecture go by quickly. I'd also recommend printing the slides out before class and taking notes on those, definitely helps for the tests which are pretty challenging. Overall, he was a good prof that I wouldn't mind taking again
Just buy the international edition. It's like $40 including shipping. Make sure you go to class because some of the stuff is confusing. He makes it interesting and is not dull. His tests are very hard, so be sure to study hard. He offers participation points as well as reading journals and writing papers. I recommend him. Reminds me of Billy Mays
Great professor. He really knows what he is talking about and makes it interesting. Test are not THAT hard because he prepares objective sheets that tell you exactly what to know beforehand. I would definitely recommend him for PSY 101
He is a good teacher who is passionate about what he teaches. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives participation points and notes that I suggest taking on the powerpoints. He gives you assignments to do about every week but they are only 1-2 pgs. and not too bad. His tests are not too hard if you follow his lectures and study. Take this class.
Prof. Q while although a great guy, is a lame teacher. Really kills the interest in the subject. His lectures consist of reading pre-existing slides that you can do without showing up to class. Be sure to bring your laptop and use your time to catch up on Facebook.
really good teacher, highly recommended. tests are easy if you do the objective sheets, class isn't mandatory. I am not interested in psych, but i still got an A. He is a little disorganized when you go to his office hours, but he is very willing to help. TAKE IF YOU CAN!
I really enjoyed his class. Gives participation points. Exams are fair. He will keep you interested by doing activities involving the material. He is very nice and enthusiastic. I recommend him!
Great class, great professor! Test are really hard, so going to class is a must! Plus you get participation points randomly when you attend.
Great class! Very interesting and easy to listen to. Professor is very friendly. Attendance is a must to pass this class. Although it is not mandatory, his lectures really do make the information alot clearer. Got a good grade without reading textbook. Make sure to go over slides more than once prior to tests though! I recommend taking this class!
He's not the best...he take forever to grade assignments and exams. If you look at his study guides you'll get a good grade.
Great class and great prof! Quamme was interesting and i found myself laughing and enjoying myself a lot throughout the semester. His tests are to the point and easy if you study. You get a couple of assignments that he takes forever to grade but otherwise you're just taking notes every day. Definitely recommend this class!
Test grades will depend highly on your participation and attendance in class. Don' skip and you should do fine.
I didn't use my book at all during the class. Sign up for the studies as soon as possible so you can avoid doing the dreadful papers. Tests are moderately hard, harder if you don't study. He's kinda boring but Psychology can sometimes be a boring subject.
His tests are very confusing and it is a must to show up for class even though it is so hard to listen to him and his not so funny jokes.
Class is not conducive for non-traditional students. Miss a class or two due to job obligations and you've missed a couple quizzes because there's a quiz every class
Extremely intelligent man. Very clear professor. Everything on exams you will see on lectures and in the textbook. He provides exam reviews which are immensely helpful. Makes the topic intriguing and relevant. Highly recommended professor.
As long as you go to lectures and read/skim through chapters before the class period, you'll have no problem getting an A. For the test, doing the study guides and note cards will help you immensely!
Not very helpful. His lectures are extremely boring.
I seriously loved this class. If you are interested in psychology, this is the class for you. Attendance to class is a must, because he gives points for participation. This is probably my favorite class that I have taken at GVSU.
The lectures are boring and the tests are ridiculously hard. Not recommended unless you are really inerested and good at psychology.
Attendance is not mandatory but he will do "surprise" in class participation activities that you get graded on, so if you happen to not be there, you get a 0. Lectures are tedious, VERY boring, he just reads off the slides he posts online. I have gotten an A in every psych class I've ever taken (over 5), and this one was THE WORST.
He isn't easy to work with, but from what I heard one of the easiest tests out there. He gives you objectives (study guides) the week before the test and thats all I studied for the 3 tests and lowest grade I got was a 96%! The tests were just definitions. I would highly recommend him. I never read the book, just used definitions and power points.
He's clearly interested in teaching for sure, and his tests are easy so long as you follow the study guides he posts on blackboard. However, he also like pop quizzes, and he never once responded to an E-Mail I sent him when I had a question, so he might be hard to contact.
this professor is really easy, he is very nice and very personable. i did not have a lot of interest in this subject so i was very bored every class. if you like this kind of stuff it could be interesting to you. he is a very nice guy
Professor Quamme is a nice guy and he seems to really enjoy teaching this subject. He is helpful when you ask questions and he always likes to debate with you about controversial topics. Tests are medium difficulty, study lecture slides and take notes on what he says. I rarely used my book although it is helpful.
He gets really excited with some topics in class, which makes class seem more interesting for everyone. He does a lot of little in-class activities to demonstrate studies. It makes class fun and it makes discussions on research more clear. Overall, Professor Quamme is a smart, funny guy who is fairly generous on grades.
This class is easy as long as you show up and listen. Quamme makes it easy for you to get a good grade by awarding participation points, and if you take notes the tests are not hard. He's a good lecturer and is really passionate about his field. I'd recommend him :)
Super nice and extremely knowledgeable professor. His lectures are very long but there are many opportunities for extra credit. Exams were a bit tough but he is flexible in his grading.
I expected this class to not be very difficult. The lectures were straight to the point and easy to understand, but the tests were very difficult for me. The questions were just set up in a way that made it difficult for me. There are coglabs that need to be done often, but not very difficult. 3 short papers throughout the semester.
Professor Quamme is a great guy. He is kind and you can tell he really loves teaching psych. As long as you study in the class, you will be fine. Bases his exams off of his PowerPoints, not the book so you only need to go through those, I barely opened the book and still got a good grade. Does online hw assignments and extra credit which helps!
I looked forward to this class! His lectures were usually pretty interesting and honestly if you were there each week, took good notes, and payed attention you may not even need the book. Exams are focused on the notes with maybe one or two questions that he did not talk about in class. I would recommend Quamme. &he does extra credit :)
Nice guy, but very boring for a lecture. Would not recommend, find a different prof for pay 101.
I loved having this teacher, he had to be one of my favorites yet. A lot of people tend to fall asleep in his classes it seemed but I thought he was intriguing. His exams were pretty strait forward, use to book. He gave 2 easy extra credit assignments too, watch a movie and attend a study.
Easy class, he just lectures off his blackboard powerpoint and the exams are literally just the blackboard powerpoint slides. Doesn't take attendance, really laid back
Loved this professor! He is great - although his lectures are long, they are super interesting and he's a funny guy! You can tell he loves psychology, but isn't the annoying prof. who thinks only psych matters. Very easy basic homework, exams are average to easy - attend most of the lectures and you'll be fine! Posts pwrpts online!
Joel seems like a really great guy. he knows his stuff--and it shows. His lectures can drag a little bit. He does show some great examples of topics (we watch commerical videos to discuss some of the material). Study guides are okay, wish we had a review day before the exam. be prepared to have to absorb a lot.
He gave a lot of information in class. I learned a good amount from his lectures and felt that they were worth while. As long as you keep up with the homework assignments and come to class you should be able to pass with minimal effort.
Quamme is a very good professor. All the homework is online and so are the quizzes, which are not timed and are open note/book. He takes the best grade for the homework and quizzes. You should have no problem getting 100 on the homework. Drops the lowest exam to 50 instead of 100. GIVES EXTRA CREDIT!! The exams are MC but can be tough.
Tests are 70% of the grade but I believe thats how all psych classes are at GV. His gives objectives before tests and if you complete those you will do just fine. Rambles on about one topic for quite a while but decent guy. Also gives a few extra credit points towards the end.
there were two larger assignments and 9 article assignments, you can miss 2 since he assigns 11, but he takes the first 9 article grades. He gave study guides and i found it useful to write all vocab words on note cards and then go back through lecture slides and write down the topics on the study guides. good professor, makes it interesting
His lectures are really cool and insightful, he loves using short films in class. The exams are super hard and I found the textbook to be of no use. Who knows? maybe if I read the book more I would have done better on tests? Make sure you understand the 3 big papers that are due and don't wait till the last minute to find an article. keep organized
His class was extremely boring and long. He only ever lectures and never changes up his teaching style. I would recommend a different prof.
Each test you take is worth 25% of your final grade, so it's very important to put in the effort to do well. Lectures feel long, but overall he isn't that hard of a professor. If you study the study guide for tests, you should be fine. Nice professor, has a passion for teaching.
He gives you many opportunity to help your grade in his class, take advantage of them! Make sure you study more than you think you need to for each exam. I screwed myself over with my first exam (53%). He is still a good teacher though, go to his lectures and pay attention!
He managed to make a topic I normally find fascinating to be something I dread. I fell asleep so many times in his class. He reads off his slides and then posts them, and attendance doesn't matter, so you'll be fine if you skip. He expects you to memorize a stupid amount of information for exams, but he often throws out questions. Not the worst.
Professor Quames lectures are very long and boring, however the class itself is still pretty simple. Every week there are online assignments to complete where you can use your notes. The tests can be difficult but if you use his study guide then you should get a decent grade.
Professor Quamme is ok. Lecture can be boring and long sometimes but I can tell he tried to engage the class. Pretty basic and easy class if you show up and do the work. He gives extra credit at the end of the year which is awesome.
Quamme loves psych and was a great lecturer. He also posts his powerpoints so class is not mandatory but psych 101 is a ton of material so get ready to study. His exams weren't too bad other than the first one, they are just over a lot of material. I'd highly recommend this prof, I learned so much and he gives lots of extra credit at the end.
He definitely loves psychology. He tries and makes jobs throughout the lectures and he is always smiling. He is not really available outside class. Part of your grade is to participate in 4 credits worth of experiments. There is homework every Sunday night. Tests are difficult.
Joel is a G. attendency isn't mandantory. You can tell that he actually likes his job.
Joel is a great professor. He really care about his students and tries really hard to engage and entertain the class. His tests are pretty difficult and objectives he posts aren't very specific but if you really study everything on the objectives then you should be fine. Loved him as a prof and I would definitely try to take his class again.
Attendance not mandatory. He posts his lectures online. He will randomly have inclass assignments for 1pt though. Posts study guides. Tests are pretty hard so make sure to study a week before the test. Cog labs are due every Friday & are super easy. I would take him. Very passionate about this subject
Never went to class besides exam days and passed with an A. All the quizzes are online with multiple attempts so it's hard not 2 do good on them. Homework is online, watching a 5 minute video and answering 5 question once a week. His tests are directly off his lecture slides that he posts. Offers tons of easy extra credit at the end of year!
His powerpoints lacked the information needed for tests, but as long as you use the book you should be fine. I never went to class except for exam days and passed with an A. He is a boring professor though and takes too much time going over just one slide. I found myself falling asleep in his class when I actually did go.
I had him for my PSYCH 101 class and I would highly recommend him. He is very nice and funny, which makes the lectures interesting. He gives objectives for each test and as long as you know his notes and those objectives there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. He gives extra credit and we only have homework due online every Sunday.
Lectures are very similar to the textbook information, so if you read you don't really need to go to class. Information may seem easy and straightforward but the exams are very tough with very specific questions. Quizzes every week online but it is easy to get 100% on them.
Great professor. His lectures can sometimes seem long because he really elaborates on each topic but its worth it because pretty much everything you need to know for exams is covered in class. You wont fall behind if you skip, he posts all his lectures on blackboard right after class. He gives a clear study guide for each exam.
HE IS SO NICE AND INTERESTING TO LISTEN TO
Professor Quamme is really great! The lectures can seem really long, but he is very very knowledgable! No homework except a weekly coglab (which is not hard) and the exams are not bad, just read the book on the side!
Joel is really great, his lectures weren't boring to listen to (I recommend actually going) and his powerpoints aren't loaded with information so you don't have to take notes the whole time. His tests can seem difficult because he asks questions off of examples, so just know examples of things and you'll do great.
Quammes psych 101 class is semi boring. Power Points every day and he posts them online. A quiz due every Sunday online, get 2 chances pretty easy. Test are hard, offers a little Extra Credit at the end of semester. Not a very flexible Guy.
Joel's class is very lecture heavy but this really helps on tests and quizzes. There is little homework outside of reading the book and a 20 question quiz due at the end of the week with multiple attempts given. Make sure to do your enrichment activities early so they don't creep up on you. There is extra credit offered at the end of the semester.
the few exams that you have throughout the semester were somewhat hard, he gives out a study guide but it didn't help too much on any of them. weekly online quizzes that are easy. my class never had to write any papers which was nice. he lectured until the last minute of class every time.
He is passionate about the subject, but is not the best at teaching it. If you have some background in cognitive neuroscience, then I'm sure the class will be great, if not, you're going to be confused. Take the notes. Read the book (which is sometimes helpful). I highly recommend setting up a group doc for the study guides for exams.
If u absolutely have to take him, then you'll survive, but I would not take him again. He expects a lot. Exams are hard and super detailed (I'm an A student) and the study guide isn't helpful. Assignments are not difficult but then again we've had 8 and he has not graded any so Idk. He loves to talk over people, but he's knowledgable.
Weekly quizzes were easy and tests are like straight from the lecture notes and textbook. He posts the lecture online so attendance is not mandatory because everything he talks about is directly in the textbook as well. I read all the required readings but then I only studied once the night before each exam and got 100% on all. He's also super nice
He seems like a great guy, just not my favorite professor. Got off topic easily and lectures felt long and explanations were often confusing. He understands the material can be difficult and would curve our tests if needed though. 3 exams, 2 short papers, and some short article assignments. Attend lecture and study and you should be fine!
Quamme is amazing, he is funny and his lectures are intersting. He is really chill and gives extra credit at the end. His lectures follow exactly his study guides. Not much homework besides a 20 question BB quix every week which is so easy. I love him! Take him if you can! Easy easy easy!
He is a pretty good prof, he always sends out the power point slides so if you happen to have to miss class you can still get the notes. There are weekly reading quizzes that are pretty easy and have no time limit on them. He also tends to give a good amount of extra credit at the end of the class!
He's like a classic prof you see in movies or big colleges. Lecture heavy and your grade is dependent on 3 exams and 2 papers. Everything is easy but the exams. The wording of the questions make it a lot harder than it actually is. There is a LOT of material covered be prepared to know all terms, functions of the brain, and specific studies.
Please do not take this class with Quamme. He is not a good professor. He doesn't know how to teach, goes off on tangents, and expects you to know way too much. He has openly said he does not know things that he hasn't studied himself. He talks like everything is an epiphany he personally had. Puts powerpoints up 10 minutes before class starts.
I learned a lot and it was obvious that he loved to teach and he made his lectures super interesting. I was worried about psych because I had never taken psych before but it was an easy A. He gives extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester to make sure you get the grade you want. Each week there are easy online quizzes for easy points.
There is only three exams. You have to do like 10 labs which are short and easy. The notes and lectures are enough for you to pass.
Professor Quamme is a great guy. Really natural in class, posts lectures online. You must show up to class as the 3 exams that make up 75% of your final grade consists of textbook info and lecture information. I would not recommend taking it at 8:30 though.
good and helpful lectures. he is genuinely a good professor to learn from.
Prof Quamme is a good professor, but he's very long winded and lectures get boring. All due dates and class information is very clearly stated. Not much work is required.
His exams are weighted super heavy but are easy if you do the readings and pay attention in class. Overall he's ok but there are better psy 101 profs out there
Great guy but long winded and boring. Took the class at 11:30 and couldn't pay attention, you could see the class was bored too. Cool guy and enjoyed his lectures when he wasn't going super slow. Tests & quizzes are just like lectures. Do lectures and quizzes and you will pass fine.
Prof. Quamme is so nice and pretty funny. He sometimes goes off in tangents in lectures, but he never expects you to teach yourself things he didn't cover. He posts exam reviews that are extremely helpful. There are 3 exams and weekly quizzes (that are not hard whatsoever). He also posts the lecture slides for class.
I thought the exams were really hard and I didn't do great on the final but he adjusted my grade so I was able to end up with a B. He cares about his students and is veery available to answer questions through email/office hours. The transition was great to online classes.
I definitely didn't do as well in this class as I should've. Read the textbook and study hard and you'll be fine. Quamme is a great professor though!!
I took this as a freshman online during covid, he never had zooms and just posted work on revel and lectures online and weekly quizzes. the work on revel was heavy and took 2-3 days spending 2 hours on it to complete. instead of a text book you get a code for book excess.
Professor Quamme assigns online textbook readings and mini quizzes for each section along with countless videos and an overall quiz at the end of each week. The week before exams he had us read 5 sections, 5 mini quizzes, one overall quiz, and NINE lecture videos. Yes, 9 lecture videos.
His lectures are very interesting and informative. However, I do not like his grading.. He does not update your grades weekly. He only updates them after every 2-3 exams. It has you wonder whether you are passing the class or not. And before you know it, it may be to late to try to get your grade up. His exams are also difficult as well.
This class is not hard at all, so long as you take notes on the readings, lecture videos, and make study guides before the tests; all the questions on tests and quizzes are directly from the material. I didnt really get to know Quamme due to the class being online and asynchronous, but he graded fair and was very clear on what we needed to know.
Each week there are usually a few lecture videos, reading from the textbook, and a reading assignment. The lecture videos are very helpful and easy to understand. He also provides really helpful study guides that helped me do well on exams. It's definitely a class that you'll need to take the time and study/watch lecture videos for.
SUPER EASY!!! All quizzes are on quizlet, but the biweekly chapter exams aren't. I usually google all the answers to the textbook questions and reading quizzes. I take notes on a google doc on his lectures and find/search for what I need. Explains things really easily and available when needed
I really liked professor Quamme. Some weeks there was a lot of lecture videos to watch but it would have been the same if it was in person. He explains the material super well.
Professor Quamme is very nice, lectures were boring but bearable. Doesn't adequately prepare you for exams. Extremely nit-picky questions, you have to apply all information learned to specific brain areas (which you have to figure out yourself). The study guides are not very helpful at all. I'm an honor roll student and this class ruined my GPA.
Quamme is a good professor, but his lectures are endless, they take up a lot of time which is annoying, but they are very helpful for the assignments. Read the textbook and watch his videos and you will be all set for his class.
Quamme was a fair and easy professor. I had his class all online and yes lectures tended to be a little long but it wouldve been no different if it was in person. He just wants his students to understand the material. He was a nice guy and did well with explaining the material.
very lecture-heavy but he is very smart and makes it interesting. the textbook is online and you have the whole week to do the assigned notes and quizzes, if you take detailed notes and go to class the exams are very easy
Exams are straight forward and come right from the lectures.
Prof. Quamme was a good guy, but the lectures could get boring. He puts a lot of emphasis on exams and they are where you earn a majority of your grade. He offers good study guides that have really helped when it comes to his exams. The lack of textbook is nice, but he expects other reading instead (articles, etc)
Won't get an A if you don't attend in person. Take notes right on his powerpoint slides because you go over so much it's impossible to write it all. He has speaker notes on his slides that tell you everything you need to know. Study guides were so detailed I got almost a 100% on each exam. Coglabs are so easy.
Quamme is kind of boring, but this class is not difficult. Very dense in material. Tests are straight from the powerpoints and study guides. He drops the lowest exam grade out of the four. He has a good amount of EC at the end. Lectures are not very engaging, but make sure you take notes from the powerpoints.
I was a psych major and this class and professor made me completely change my major. DO NOT take with Quamme if you can help it. Says the exams are "easy" but one question is about two to three sentences and you can barely tell what the actual question is. I went to his office hours and got belittled for not knowing the information well enough.
I thought professor Quamme was really good. His material was very straightforward and well explained. His lectures were also really interesting to me as a psych major so I didn't think they were boring at all like some others said. The grading is very clear and easy to manage most of the time. There is a lot of reading for homework. He's a nice guy
Quamme is a great professor and clearly cares about his students and what he is teaching. He is very passionate on the subject, however tests were extremely difficult. I would study for the tests and still get on average a C. I am not a C student. I felt as though the test questions were worded in a way that made it confusing.
Took him a couple semesters ago. Exams were on the difficult side but not impossible especially with an online class. Assignments can be a little daunting but does not grade insanely hard, lets you not do one assignment. Info can be hard to follow at times but if you put in a decent amount of effort you will be fine. You can tell he's super caring
I had Quamme for PSY 101 and now am signed up for PSY 365 with him. I think he's great! The exams are straight to the point. As long as you go to the class lectures, you'll have no problem understanding the material. He also provides fantastic study guides. Anyone rating him low simply didn't try in his class.
I do not know how Quamme has such a high rating. I have never struggled so much in a class and I was not the only one! Every classmate I asked was having the same issues I was. This class was BRUTAL.
There was reading and quizzes for each chapter which were time-consuming but not hard. 4 tests with pretty clear objectives but definitely need to study. Lecture slides were always posted online so you didn't have to go to class but I would recommend using class for clearer explanations. Overall a good teacher who I would recommend.
I took this class online and asynchronous. He was very clear with everything we had to do each week and how to succeed. The weekly quizzes were very straightforward especially if you skimmed the reading and watched the lecture vids. He is super helpful if you need an extension or extra help on something.
The class won't be hard if you apply yourself. I never attended class but read the book and did the assignments and I did just fine. I would also recommend going to office hours before and/or after exams to review. He gives 3 exams before the final and weekly reading assignments. Quamme truly cares about his students and is a very nice guy.
Pretty good psych prof. You can tell he really cares about this subject. Easy cengage assignments and tests aren't too bad. Study guides are HUGE, but not everything is included in the test. It's just to make sure everything is included with him. I'd take him again!
love him
Professor Quamme was a very knowledgable teacher. He made lectures interesting and was very understanding that this was not the easiest class considering all of the material that is learned throughout the semester. He gave extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester! Very nice guy and a great teacher.
Prof. Quamme is amazing! The study guides he provides for you are the EXACT questions he has on the exams, so STUDY THEM. He provides extra credit at the end of the semester, which is super helpful. He is overall a great prof, and he genuinely cares about you understanding the material. Take him!
blackboard layout was misleading. Not very flexible when several students were tripped up by it and missed assignments due to it. The way he enters things in the grade book makes you unsure of your actual grade throughout the semesters so its very hard to tell if you've missed anything. Unfortunate because the class is really easy otherwise.
He is a caring professor who seemed genuinely interested in whether or not we understood the material. Grades consisted of online assignments, in class participation activities, and 3 non-cumulative exams. He gave detailed study guides, but my exam scores still tended to be lower than I would have liked. Overall, I would take this class with him!
He is a good professor! Psych has a lot to learn, but he really knows what he is talking about. You have to be willing to do the readings and attend lectures. His study guides really help when preparing for exams.
Professor Quamme was by far a great teacher, he cared about people passing the class and was accessible outside of the classroom if you needed extra assistance. He offers extra credit and is very clear on what needs to be done and how to do it in order to succeed.
Quamme is amazing. His lectures are interesting and his exams were so easy (with minimum studying). Weekly online textbook assignments but they weren't hard and it's easy to get 100% on them. He does do random in class assignments that do count towards your grade so I recommend attending class, plus most of the exam material is from him lectures.
Dr. Quamme was great for intro psych. He does tend to ramble so sometimes you get a day or two behind but he makes lectures interesting.
Really interesting material and Dr. Quamme knows his subject. Exams are mostly based off lecture material and surprise in class participation activities are part of your grade so attendance is recommended. Enjoyed the class and learned a lot.
He is a great professor!! His class is lecture heavy, but he does a lot of little in class activities that count towards your grade. There are also a lot of smaller homework assignments that help your grade a ton. If you go to class, take good notes, study for exams and do all the readings and assignments, you should be fine!!
Almost all of class time was just him giving lectures. All information was posted on blackboard also. Exams can be a bit overwhelming with the amount of content they cover, but very manageable.
Professor was tough to understand, always had multiple answers to plenty of his questions, his class is taken as a riddle.
Professor Quamme is a nice guy but I found his class to be pretty difficult. There are 4 exams and the final is cumulative. His classes are all lectures. He does mini-participation assignments so attendance matters. The material is hard to grasp at times. He offered extra credit toward the end of the course which was very helpful.
He is pretty reasonable and nice. Few article assignments, weekly quizzes with readings. I was fine without the readings. Just look up terms in the textbook for the quizzes. Tests were kinda hard depending on what the topic was but overall just study good for tests. This class wasnt to bad but can be hard if you have not had cognition yet.
Professor Quamme's PSY101 class can be challenging, but his study guides and extra credit opportunities make it manageable. Attendance is key, and using unstuck AI alongside the textbook can really help with exam prep.
He was very nice as a person but I found his class to be boring as he didn't care much about including students in the conversation and all of the homework is the same every week.
there is a lot of reading and the class is very lecture heavy but he seems very passionate about what he is teaching! he does post study guides which definitely help for exams.
Quamme cares about his students. His tests are easy IF you put the work in. Everything on the test is found in the study guides he posts. Random participation activities are held in class, about 10 a semester. Very lecture heavy. A few hours of textbook reading/quizzes every week but quizzes are open book. I would take him again.
He was very passionate about what he was teaching which helped me pay more attention to the lecture. The way he chooses to teach material is very captivating and he is a funny guy. It is a decent amount of work to be done each week but nothing unmanageable. I recommend using the mastery program with the textbook to help you learn the vocab.
I love Prof Quamme. He is very passionate about the material he teaches and quite funny. He seems to know the material very well and gives a lot of supplemental information just for shits and gigs. Material is pretty easy if you engage with it. He makes learning the material a breeze. I feel like I learned a lot.
I love prof Quamme. I've had him for a couple classes. Neuroscience is difficult, but he makes it as easy to understand as possible. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should go to lectures if you want to understand the material and do well. He's always willing to answer questions or help you in any way he can. Very funny too, one of my fav profs
