Very good prof. He explains everything well and makes sure you knwo what you are doing before he moves on. I took him as a summer class and we didn't have the final. Was a very easy class. I woudl recommend him to anyone!

he is very helpful and easy. Software projects needs to be done and understod to do well on the Access exam.

Access homework needs to be understood. Tests other than the SW exam are easy.

He is a very nice,fun,positive, and knowledgable professor. He does work with you if you ask him for help. I had him for the summer and he was amazing. Definitely recommand him.

If you cant keep up at the rate he is going, you are not ready for accounting. IF you do the 10pg assigned reading, everything makes sense. He curves every test, has 12 quizes (counts your top 10 scores) and is very straightforward with his grading. Does very helpful examples and is a friendly guy.

Awesome professor. would recommend him to anybody. easy going especially to upper class students.

If you get the chance to take this class in the summer do it!! There isn't a final, which by the way, is one of the hardest tests you will ever take if you take this class during the school year and he lets you use a half sheet of paper for the test which you can put whatever you want on it. Great teacher and he is very helpful if you need help.

Fill out the note card and do the sample quiz online. I have had worse accounting teachers! He at least tried to get the class involved by relating it to the real world. He is a good teacher.

accounting is diffcult, but if you have to take it strong is a good professor. he is very helpful and really wants his students to do well in class. take this for a summer class if you can, because there is no final (the accounting department final is really hard)

Great teacher, he is real about his suject and tells you exactly what is expected of you. very nice, and willing to help you. he gives you online quizes for each chapter which are only 5 Qs and you have 2 times to get 100%...which is really easy.it helps you out a lot.

Good professor. Makes ACCT less stressful to take. Quizzes are a nice added feature, basically gives you a chance to get a 100 score that equals a test in the end. If you start out by doing decent in the course it will be no problem to get the minimum C. I got a B with pretty much blowing one of the tests. dont try to play catch up

I think the material in the class in general is difficult. I didn't have a problem with him I thought he was a nice guy but the test where really hard.

Hard class but Strong makes it easier to learn. I hate accounting so I hated the class, but I think he taught the class well.

He is one of the best teachers that I think I have ever had. He goes over everything a couple of times so as long as you are at class there is no reason that you shouldn't ace the class, but no one ever comes. The tests are straight out of his notes so they are a great guide, and the book is very helpful and not comletely boring either. Great Class

Strong is cool. He teaches straight from the notes, which you can find on D2L, but you really need to show up to understand, because accounting is fairly difficult and not always straightforward. The textbook is necessary only to get access to the online HW (so save online rather than through the bookstore!). I would recommend him.

Strong is probably the best instructor to have for 291. His lecture style is very effective amd exams are easy if you study for them. Do well on all the mini-exams because the final is much harder and worth a lot of points.

Professor strong was a good teacher. Acct is difficult. The exams are super hard and the final is worse. Make sure to do the homework and take your time on it because those are easy points towards your grade that is what saved me. I got an A on homework.

If you want to learn Acct 291 take it with Strong, if you just want to pass Acct 291, then any of the other Accounting professors will do. I wish he taught 292.

Very helpful professor, very straight forward grading and expections. Pretty cold personality untill you get to know him a bit then he warms up. The earlier you take his class the better he seems to get tired of answering the same questions each class period.

The class is pretty tough, but if you show up you should do alright. He comes off as a bit of a jerk at first, but as the class progesses he calms down a bit and jokes around with people. Tests are a little ticky, but if you study and carefully read them, you should be fine. Projects are easy and even kind of fun.

He is very out spoken but teaches very well and posts excellent notes online to study for exams with.

I'm bummed out I couldn't take him for my 292 class next semester because he wasn't teaching that class...Tests are all multiple choice besides the 1st one.1st one: easy A ;)

Great professor. Posts everything on D2L, but it's still helpfull to go to class. Posts exactly what you need to know on exams on D2L!And it is possible to do last minute studying for his exams: all mult. choice besides 1st test, and 1st test was easy A. Accounting is hard, but this guy is crystal clear with what he teaches. Again, great prof.

I really liked him. He is tough, and makes you learn the material, but I thought that he was a really good teacher, fun to talk to. Will help you if you need it.

He was a very helpful and resourceful acct professor. He knows his stuff and teaches it down a level. He is willing to help you understand it. Take it with him he is a very good teacher.

Great professor. Do ALL the recommended work and you will do well. Also, work the myaccounting lab "study guide" questions to help prepare for the exams.

Great teacher. He lets you have a notecard for each exam (except the final) which is extremely helpful and I think he's the only ACCT teacher that allows that. Attendance is not mandatory but if you'll go, there's no way you can't pass. I just wish he would teach ACCT292 as well. TAKE HIM!!!!

Great prof. He gives you a lot of information but it is clear what he wants from you. The tests are fine. He wants you to succeed. He can he ornery but I thought he was pretty entertaining. You learn a lot. Take him!

Great professor! 6 exams. Notecard for each exam besides final. Tells you exactly what's going to be on the exams. Online homework/quizzes are easy just remember to do them. Attendance not required. Class is curved. Not the easiest class in the world, but you can easily get an A with studying. Definitely take him over others!

Really knows his stuff. Doesn't make you learn things that won't be applicable in the real world or on the CPA exam. Tests follow the homework, know how to work the homework problems and you'll be fine.

I think Professor Strong is easily misunderstood because of his personality. Yes, he can be loud and abrupt, however this does not take away from the fact that he is a great professor. He knows his stuff, prepares handouts for homework and can actually teach if you PAY ATTENTION. This is by no means an easy class but putting in the work pays off.

Strong is a great teacher, especially for 382. He motivated me to do well in the class. If you pay attention to what he says the first week on how to do well in the class, it really helps out! Tough class! But if you practice a lot on the CPA practice tests and go through his notes, you can do better than average.

Dr. Strong is a great professor. He makes accounting very clear and ensures that you know the material. Read the chapter prior to class, he likes when students show that they have some knowledge of the material and aren't completely oblivious. Fair grader, average amount of homework, quizzes are straight forward. Would definitely take again.

Be prepared to work for your grade. Strong is a tough but fair professor. What he teaches in class is what you'll need to know. If you study the homework and test prep from D2L and online source you'll do well. Strong will appreciate a class that reads the chapter before class time, so that you aren't completely clueless.

Strong is a knowledgable professor that will help you if you take initiative. Sit in the front, ask questions, be attentive. He notices. Study your ass off. Accounting was not made to be easy. Always answers emails timely. Helpful, but concise. Large curve at end of class.

Strong is very knowledgeable and he clearly knows his material. That being said, his style of teaching is a brutal (loud) assault of problems straight out of the book in rapid fire fashion. This class is definitely harder than 381. But not as dangerous, due to the curve. If you passed 381, you have the skills required to make it through 382.

382 is waaayy harder then 381. Times your study time by at least two. Joel is a very good teacher, but he expects you to know everything. He doesn't mean it in a mean way, he just wants you to learn. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Only way you will pass.

Professor Joel Mathew Strong is the single greatest professor I have ever had. He cares so much about you and you passing his class. he will treat you just like you are his kid. Yeah don't believe take his class for yourself. P.S he is a very attractive man. You don't get bored in his class you get lost in his eyes.

I took Excel for Accounting last Spring of 2018. This class is worth it and an easy A for sure.

Prof Strong is a caring guy & is def hilarious and shows his good side in 486. Tests are tough but manageable. Do the Becker practice tests to study. We also had pre-HW and post-HW that was due every week, easy stuff though. He also had us work in groups for a software called IDEA which is nice to boost your grade up a bit.

Very straightforward guy. Made the class very passable as long as you did the work and had a good conceptual understanding. Take his classes in person, it makes it much easier. 2-3 homework assignments and a chapter quiz per week, all on connect. Do the work and you'll do fine. Knows his stuff, I'd take 382 with him if he wasn't on sabbatical.

Dr. Strong did a very good job at ACCT 291. I got a D in accounting at my other college, before I transferred, and I got a B this time around. Very clear class and assignment layout. Good at summarizing complex topics. He is direct and to the point. My one critique is I wish he went over the excel assignments in lecture, at least for the last two.

He's not a bad professor at all, it just the course can be really challenging if you don't put the work to study. The exams are after every chapters which I prefer! Than a cumulative exam because, you only need to study one chapter every week instead of 3 to 4 chapters for a cumulative exam every 4 weeks or so.
