we have 2 tests the mid term and final exam the other two grades were a history book review and quizzes
There are assigned seats, quizzes are taking outside of class at Biggin. There are only 2 tests, the midterm and the final. Along with that, there's a 500 to 800 book report. For a 1010 class that most people are just taking for their history credit, it's not worth it.
This professor is very strict on attendance. TAs will take attendance everyday according to your assigned seats. Youre only allowed 3 absences and after 3 he deducts ur grade. Very lecture heavy, but doesnt write any notes on the board. You just have to listen to him and write ur own notes. Exams are quite easy, never used my book until the final
Dr. Joel Webb is an excellent professor. His lectures are easy to follow and give lots of information that correspond with the textbook that you will use for the class. Dr. Webb provides plenty of resources that will help you make an A on the midterm and final. Dr. Webb also provides easy quizzes that will help bring up your grade if you need it.
Dr. Webb is extremely lecture heavy. He gives absolutely no framework of notes, you just have to write as he talks. He does not allow any technology. Only a midterm and a final and the midterm was all writing. Gives easy quizzes to help out your grade and gives study guides. Do not recommend taking him at all. Attendance is mandatory by seats.
You can only miss 3 classes so attendance is mandatory . He gives 4 quizzes that are 5 points each and midterm and final and a book review and that is all . The midterm study guide had about 65 terms you had to be able to write a paragraph on and 15 short answer but there was only 6 terms and 1 short answer actually on the midterm .
Great Guy just go to every lecture and take notes, and you will get an A. There are no tests or reading, just lecture. He gives easy quizzes on internet articles you read ahead of time. Midterm was a word bank of terms to define and one short answer. However, you can only miss 3 classes or you start to lose points. He really seems to care.
Dr. Webb is a new professor at Auburn and he is probably the most boring human being on the planet. I struggled to stay awake in almost every lecture. You only have the midterm and the final as the grades with a couple random quizzes taken at the testing center that count as almost nothing. Webb is super boring and dry so its eh.
Do not recommend this professor at all. Theres no structure to his class; you just have to write what you can while he talks for an hour and 15 mins. Theres only 4 quizzes, a book review, and 2 exams, so if you do bad on an exam youre done. Attendance is mandatory and the TAs seriously walk around a 200 person lecture class to mark you present..
Joel Webb is intensely boring and pronounces everything weirdly. Going to class is pointless because his lectures are him randomly spitting information, but attendance is necessary. His quizzes are easy but its a hike across campus, and his fun little helpers walk around class and monitor you the whole time. I like his assistant, very funny hehe.
Dr. Webb makes attendance mandatory and if you miss more than 3 classes you start to lose points. If you miss 11 total classes then you fail. There is a midterm, final, 4 quizzes, and a book review. His lectures are extremely boring and does not allow students to have any technology but most ignored those rules. Would not take again.
This is a very easy A. We have had no homework whatsoever except for one very short (500-800) word book report and 2 tests the entire semester (midterm and final). His quizzes (4) are common sense and you can schedule them on your own time. He does take off points after you exceed 3 missed absences but just 1% point for each absence. My only A.
His class is all lecture but his quizzes and tests are extremely easy if you take the time to know the material. He won't through something at you that you have never heard of before
Save yourself some time get a different professor He grades by such few things 6 grades total Thats it The lectures put you to sleep so fast He seems nice but is strict with no electronics and doesn't like people getting up leaving to go do anything I'm very short put in back Can't always hear there are assigned seats
Tests are easy. Good lectures. They're long but if you pay attention they're interesting and he does a good job explaining. Also SI sessions help you sooo much. Best teacher for this course.
Hidden Gem. You either love him or hate him. Only 2 tests (midterm and final) so if you don't study, thats on you. I didn't even take notes and just defined the terms he gave us for the midterm using quizlet and I made an A. Lectures put you to sleep, but if I didn't have it at 8am it wouldn't be that bad. I would take him!
He's a great professor only problems I had was the fact there are only two tests and his voice is very easy to fall asleep to.
Very Few Grades. Gives Study Guides for the midterm and Final. Book review over the course of the semester out of class. Lectures are pretty boring but I haventt taken notes and just studied the study guides and have a high B. Four quizzes outside of class that are all really easy. One of them just asked you if you read. Recommend taking this guy.
Joel Webb is boring as hell, he drones on every class about weird details of history and is way too politically correct to be interesting. That being said, his quizzes are a joke and w/ effort (& Quizlet) the midterm is an easy 100. There's one book report but it can be a grade boost. Attendance is required but you can sleep and not miss anything.
Very easy class even though lectures are boring. Theres only a midterm, final, and book report. The midterm and final are easy because he gives you exactly what to study. There's also 4 quizzes taken in the testing center that are super easy that everyone gets a 100 on. They do take attendance though
If you don't mind a very lecture heavy course, Webb is fine. Every single class will be straight lecture from start to finish. His powerpoints are solely images, and he tends to include unnecessary details and go on tangents. However, quizzes and tests are reasonable, and with a little work using his study guides, you'll be fine.
This is by far one of the worst classes I have ever taken. Attendance is mandatory and he does not except ANY excuses, not even doctors note. In a class of 200 people you have assigned seating and the whole class is lectures with no notes. Test are in essay prompt format and theres a book review and 4 quizzes. I DO NOT recommend taken this class.
Boring lectures with no notes actually provided. I finished with a 89 by just using the study guides and memorizing that. No point in actually listening to the lectures in my opinion
Attendance is required and you have assigned seating. But all 4 quizzes are easy 100s and the tests are exactly like the study guide he gives you. Dont buy the text book, you dont need it at all. Its not hard to make a good grade.
He was a very good teacher super passionate about the subject. Dont listen to what the other reviews are saying there were only 4 quizzes and were extremely extremely easy. I read the material an hour before every time. The book review is also extremely easy. Reading the whole book is not needed. You do have to attend class but it is not bad.
Webb was the best class ever. He lectures every day, but if you listen and take notes you will definitely pass. Attendance is mandatory but the class is enjoyable. I received a 101% on the midterm and 99% on the final... super easy, just study a few days before. He lines it out for you. There's one book review and 4 quizzes that are easy A's.
He likes to go on random tangents sometimes about things he is talking about. He is very passionate about history though. The class is graded mainly by a midterm and final (bluebook), and a book review. As long as you study before the tests you'll be fine, he provides extra credit on them too. The book review is fine, but I recommend you read it.
Only given 2 tests during the semester, so you must do well. Gave 4 quizzes that had to be taken across campus. Gives a book report that is due at the end of the semester. Attendace is mandatory everyday with assigned seats
Attendance is mandatory, yes, but I never payed attention in class, took notes, or read the textbook and still passed with an easy A. The couple quizzes he gives don't count for a whole lot but they're very easy. The midterm and the final come straight from the study guide he gives out. It's a lot to memorize but study in advance and you'll be fine
Lectures contain a lot of information. If you write down as much as you can, you'll do great on the tests. As of Spring of 2020, there are easy "reading" quizzes each week that requires almost no effort. Two tests: midterm and final. Tests are all multiple choice and true/false. I recommend taking his class as he makes the material interesting
Warning-entire class (of 300) is seated alphabetically and he counts attendance. He literally stand and talks the entire time with no slides, so you can imagine how many people were asleep in their seats. The two tests he gives are super easy though.
I am a Junior and this man is truly the WORST professor I have ever had at Auburn University. His class is not hard-- if you study on your own and teach yourself the material you will be fine. When we went virtual due to COVID19 he was unbelievably unfair with several students who were struggling with technical issues; blaming them for all issues.
He isn't a bad guy, his lectures seem to last hours and his style of teaching can be boring. The class isn't hard, his tests aren't impossible, but his lectures can put you to sleep.
Professor Webb is a great lecturer. None of the slides have words so keep up! He does have key terms to the side. Most of the grades came from LearningCurve so its not hard to pass this class. Only had a midterm and a final but they are not worth much. Attendance IS required but allows 5 free absences. Overall great class just dont take it at 8am
His lectures are very interesting to listen to. Take good notes and study well because there is only two tests. I had him during COVID19 and his lectures were still understandable. An online textbook quiz almost every week and one Extra Credit opportunity was given.
I love Dr. Webb. Took him as my first history professor first semester freshmen year. I believe it was his first year at Auburn too. That was when his class was lectures and two written exams. Got As on both. Took him again second sems for 1020 loved him even more. Lectures & Test got changed to MC and there were learning curve quizzes. LOVE HIM!
He is a littler boring but really easy. As long as you show up enough not to get an FA and study for the two tests, you will do fine. He gives extra credit and most of the grade is participation quizzes
This is the most frustrating class I have had up to this point. His lectures are incredibly boring and he goes on spider web rants and doesn't use slides that are beneficial to the information he is sharing.
If you like lectures, you'll like this course. If you don't, you may struggle. His lectures are all tightly organized by themes for each week. He can get a little detailed on some things, but most of the time he's very entertaining. His tests are pretty easy; and nearly half of the grade is simple book quizzes.
I loved having Joel as a professor, I genuinely hate history but he made me love his class. His lectures are very organized and planned out but he keeps things interesting. Class isn't hard and about half of your grade is based on homework.
He allowed me to take the class completely virtually due to COVID concerns so he cares a lot. Just a midterm and a final and both were open note. Super easy class. Keep up with the learning curve quizzes (for completion).
Really good professor, if you show up and take notes it is not difficult whatsoever. He really cares about the material.
Basically 2 Tests which count for a big part of the grade and Learning Curve quizzes every week make up your entire grade. Not super hard. Lectures are more big picture ideas, and the quizzes cover the more specific events. You NEED the learning curve quizzes to pass the tests. Lectures are optional but he throws in some questions from them.
The class is graded based on two tests and LearningCurve Quizzes. The LearningCurve Quizzes are a large part of the grade and are very easy (They just take a while to do) but he only assigns one a week. The test are relatively easy as long as you pay attention in class. Very good class.
His class is not hard. Just go to class and take notes and you will be fine. I barely did either of those things and I was fine. Very nice and responds to you fast.
This class is not difficult whatsoever, just make sure you listen! He has two things he grades by: LearningCurve quizzes and two tests. If you don't take notes or read the book, you'll find the tests to be hard, no doubt. As long as you do those two things (and attend class for bonus points), an A is in the bag.
This class was a piece of cake. Don't miss class, take lots of notes, pay attention during his lectures, and you will receive an A. There were only two tests in the class. If you take notes during his lecture then you'll ace it; however, if you do not take notes, you'll probably find the tests to be difficult. He also had extra credit.
Dr. Webb is very knowledgeable and passionate about his field. His lectures made History interesting and easy to understand, even for a business student like me who doesn't usually enjoy History. The only grades were the Midterm, Final, and participation quizzes due every week. I definitely recommend his class to anyone taking core world history.
This class is super boring, but totally worth it. He makes you go to class everyday (he will fail you if you miss 8 classes). I didn't listen to a single lecture and just googled all the answers to the study guide. The study guide is a list of 25ish terms and the test is the exact same but you can pick like 10 of the terms to write about.
Great teacher, really tries to make it as easy as possible for the students. If you are a bad test taker like myself, this is a good choice because he tries to make it as easy as possible for students. Definitely recommend, just show up and take notes and you are good. The Learning Curve quizzes are a very easy way to boost your grade after tests.
Take his class for core history! You are allowed to miss class 8 times with no consequences. Exams are open note. Most of your grade is from a learning curve quiz each week, which is an easy 100. His lectures are boring but you can do other homework in class and still do very well on exams if you read the textbook and take notes.
Homework is easy with the textbook and he gives 8 freebie absences. His exams are pretty difficult but its only a midterm and final so if you don't do great on them your homework will keep your grade up. His lectures are extremely boring though and he assigns seats so if you don't sit up front bring your laptop and work on other classes or Netflix.
The best history class you can take. Lectures might be boring but you really don't need to take notes. Learning curve quizzes as long as you do you always get a 100 and the midterm and final are just like the learning curve quizzes. Honestly so easy. Everyone with any other professor wishes they took Webb.
This was probably the most boring class I have ever taken in my whole life but it is so easy. Like unbelievable easy. I sit there and go on my phone while he talks then do his little quizzes with a little assistance from Google. The only other grades was the syllabus quiz,Midterm and Final which are unmonitored Canvas ones. Take him if u want easy.
The class is super simple the tests and homework are the same if you looking for easy history credits this is your guy
Webb's class is very easy if you show up and do the work. The test is open notes and the Learning Curve quizzes each week are based on completion. Would recommend taking him if you have a demanding semester. Easy GPA boost.
Professor Webb is probably the most boring man I've ever had to listen to, but overall his class is very easy. The only tests are the midterm and final, and the only other assignments are learning curve quizzes that are just based off of completion. If you miss more than 8 classes you fail the class automatically, so I wouldn't recommend taking 8AM
Class was easy and assignments were minimal. The lecture was long and hard to pay attention to. Professor Webb doesnt let you makeup any assignments and doesnt care if you are sick. If you miss more than 8 classes, he will automatically fail you. Hardly any word from him about the class throughout the semester so dont expect Canvas announcements
Joel Webb is probably one of my favorite professors that I've had in my college career yet. He presents his lectures very straightforward and includes about 75% of what will be on the exam. You do need to just read through the chapters (takes 20m tops) but it's all there. No dates, just concepts. Just show up and do the work and you'll be fine.
Honestly, his classes were boring but this is quite literally the easiest class I have ever taken. You just have to go to class and take notes. Graded on a midterm and a final and quizzes each week. I would for sure take this class!
The class is boring I will not lie. Dr. Webb only puts the topics up on the screen instead of the notes elaborating on said topics, so if you miss something that he says you're screwed.
Overall very easy class. If you enjoy history, you will enjoy the lectures. Show up to class and take notes and you will do fine. Midterm and final are pretty easy. He is not out to trick you, he genuinely wants his students to succeed. Highly recommend going to SI sessions if offered. Would definitely take Webb again! 10/10 recommend
His class is a lecture style class and you take notes on what he presents. The midterm and final are very important and will make or break your grade since they together are 70% of your overall grade. You also will fail the class if you accumulate 8 or more absences.
I personally hate history. It's my least favorite course. But thanks to Professor Webb, I happen to have a good memory of history. If you want an easy A TAKE THIS CLASS with WEBB. You are only graded on syllabus, quizzes(completion), midterm, and final. Lectures can be boring but take good notes! You'll need it!
Joel Webb has the most boring lectures you will ever attend, man does not teach he brags about his knowledge on the subject at hand. I promise you can at least make a B by never going to class, but sadly attendance is mandatory I missed probably 15 classes but only counted for 5 absences. Use this class as a study hall.
Professor Webb is a great teacher. You only have a midterm, a final (that isnt cumulative), and a small amount of homework that is very straight forward. Just make sure you do every assignment (which isnt a lot) and you will get a get at least a B, study for the 2 tests and youll prob get an A. He cares a lot about the subject and his students.
I met him during a meeting at the beginning of the year and he was just great. He is such a good person and really tries to make everything fun. My class had 8 ABSENCES total (which was great) The work is all online and I would suggest taking notes and taking pictures of the slides.
After being assigned a seat (small accommodations available), your attendance IS mandatory and will be taken. Professor Webb only uses key-words on PowerPoints, so you will have to listen closely. Otherwise, the assignments are easy. Just make sure you read the book before any tests, you'll be fine!
Overall, this guy is an amazing professor. It's super easy to ace this class as long as you attend class and take notes. He let us use our notes on the tests, which made them super easy. There is only a midterm and a final, plus a couple of quizzes per week (which are literally just completion grades). Super easy class! Highly recommend!
He gives learning curve quizzes, which are super easy and a big part of your grade. Lectures are boring. Midterm and Final are the only exams and aren't proctored, but are still hard if you don't pay attention. He really cares for the subject and his students! Just not my favorite class ever...
The class is easy overall but the midterm and final is so hard. Googling is not helpful for the midterm and final also not from learning curve too.. for World history I, he is a good professor but for II you better not to choose him.
He is a good professor. Actually, the lecture is easy and for the quizzes, you can try lots of times until you got right. And for this class, you only have 2 exams, midterm and final. But, for the exams, you will cry. There is nothing comes from the quizzes and if you search on google answers are not there. You better not take this course.
you are graded on one midterm and one final. there are a lot of quizzes but its graded out of participation not accuracy. if you know KNOW history, you'll do just fine on the exams but if not... good luck. the exams are on canvas and are open notes but its hard to find answers. lectures? BORING. class is mandatory but you can have up to 8 absences
Pretty easy class, only two exams and many quizzes that only count for completion. I won't lie, SOME of his lectures can be very boring but most of them are super interesting if you just pay attention. He doesn't use an actual powerpoint to teach, he uses key terms so you actually have to listen to what he says in order to have good notes.
Webb is a great teacher and goes into other parts of history you may not have heard about. He likes to tie in foreign movie clips into his lecture which is pretty fun. The grade is mostly the weekly learning quizzes through the online text book which take about 10-15 minutes to complete. It is an interesting class taught by an interesting man.
Dr. Webb is great, you only have a midterm and final for exams in this class. Other than that you do about one online quiz each week, that you can use notes on. Exams and quizzes are taken outside of class. You also get 8 absences for the course, if you miss more than 8 classes you fail.
Everyone complains about this guy but I loved him. I don't care what everyone says, you will do just fine on the midterm and final with Google. I literally show up to class and go on my phone the entire time. I have no idea what we've been doing in class since January. But am i going to get above a 90 on my final? You betcha.
He is a great professor. Read the syllabus at the beginning and you will be fine. Only a mid term and final but you have learning curve quizzes every week. If you do all the learning curve quizzes and don't fail the midterm or final you will get an A.
Webb's lectures are boring but mandatory (you get 8 absences whether excused or unexcused). I recommend taking notes because that is all that you will have to study and then the lecture goes by 10x faster! He is a nice guy, but he does talk kind of fast, so I prefer to type the notes. This is an easy class if you do well on the tests! TAKE NOTES!
The tests are online and based on the lectures. Attendance is mandatory and lots of homework. Homework is easy but important. Missed one homework and it changed my grade from an A to a B.
Had him for 1010 and 1020. The class is extremely easy if you show up to the lectures and take notes. 40% of the grade is give me points (5% for the syllabus quiz and 35% for learning curve quizzes that you can take until you get a 100). Midterm and final are online open book. Attendance is mandatory and will fail you if you miss too much.
He lectures all class with minimal slides or notes. All the test material is taken from the text. He is not very empathetic when it comes to having to miss class or missing an assignment. Pretty boring class and hard to stay awake.
Take this class!! Professor Webb is a great lecturer- very interesting, occasional videos in lectures, easy to follow. Lectures give a great cover of history and are never biased. Easy assignments, midterm and final are multiple choice with open notes. Can have 8 absences from class, but after 8 you fail; don't skip class and you'll get an A.
He's the best! Go to class and take notes and you'll be good!
His lectures are so hard to listen through and extremely boring, but he's a nice guy and gives enough quizzes that if you do poorly on the exams you can still pass. Not a bad professor to take for a core class.
Tests are extremely lecture heavy, but open note & book. Grade = 2 exams, a syllabus quiz & and a bunch of time-consuming learning curve quizzes. Attendance is recorded through a seating chart and both unexcused and excused absences are noted (8 calls for a grade of FA). Won't work with students on material missed during absences, even if excused.
Super easy class if you show up to class and take notes. Open book and note exams; however, must take in-depth notes to make a good grade. Answers can not be googled, so do not assume that!!!
Webb is honestly the easiest history teacher, only because the midterm and final are online. Answers can be googled but the notes are so in-depth, exams can still be tricky. Lectures are very grueling but attendance is tracked so just show up. I passed with bare minimum effort. Be sure to do LearningCurve quizzes, they're worth a lot and are easy.
Webb is a great professor! You can tell that he is really passionate about what he teaches. Attendance is mandatory. There are weekly quizzes that are a completion grade and there are only two tests in the class that are non-cumulative (and you are able to use your notes on them so they are super easy!). Highly recommend him for history!!
Webb is a great teacher, however due to the high classroom volume and few breaks in his lecture, I struggled to follow his class. LearningCurve quizzes are crucial to keep a decent grade, they're all free points along with the Syllabus quiz. His midterm and final were a struggle, they're open note but the time limit makes finding answers hard.
Lectures were pretty boring but if you take really good notes, you'll do good on the exams. I really liked Dr. Webb. He made history somewhat interesting but you do have to pay attention in class and be ready to handwrite notes. Exams were easy for me because they were open note and not proctored on Canvas. Take him if you can!
He was a really fun lecteror for a subject that can sometimes be boring. Also, he is available outside of class if you need help.
One of my favorite professors! Helps make history interesting. Mandatory attendance, but allows 8 absences with no penalty. Do your best to participate in group conversations
Overall, he was a good professor but there was a lot of reading and secondary source worksheets to go along with them. Lectures weren't terrible. Only a midterm and final in terms of tests, but they're really hard due to the amount of information you have to remember. He also grades tests hard and its purely essay questions
His lectures are dry. But if you take notes you will pass easily.
Pros: Excellent professor. Really made the topic interesting each day. Seems very enthusiastic about the material. Not very difficult if you keep up with the work. Cons: Lots of reading. Lots of classroom discussion.
Great lecturer! Made the course interesting! Only problem was too that few students came to the class ready to discuss the readings. If more did that, it would be a better experience.
I really didn't want to take this class. But Dr. Webb made it very enjoyable. There is a lot of reading and a good number of assignments to keep up with. However, with just a little effort one could easily get a good grade. Only warning: don't start slacking off early. It's hard to come back from that in this class.
Webb is really nice. This class is reading heavy, but from what I can tell Webb assigns less readings than others. Doing the bare minimum in this class will get you a B. Take decent notes in lecture and you'll be fine. Midterm and final are super easy, the study guide is literally exactly what will be on the final.
