He's amazingly clear, despite his accent, and he's really funny. He makes physics enjoyable.
I was afraid of taking a physics course. However, Professor Reinhold was extremely helpful and encouraging with me. He told me he believed every student can do well in physics. He gave me hope. Just make sure to complete all the online quizzes. Only 3 tests including a cummulative final. Got an A! :
he is a ok teacher. not that bad.
Very interactive, exams are not hard and you have a lot of web quizzes that make your grade higher, as long as you do them...
Before taking his class I was scared of Physics. He takes the time to explain and show you what the book is talking about. He is a good teacher and will take the time to answer any and all questions that you may have.
He actually took the time out to explain what things ment. He was very helpful, he made physics enjoyable! Honestly, I hated physics before his class and because of him, I actually enjoy it now! 3 easy exams and easy online quizes, hes not that bad looking either! and his accent is cute!
its interesting having a German professor to teach you physics... he really knows his material and what he is talking about, and makes you understand him too. 3 multiple choice tests and online quizzes (really helpful) will make you understand stuff that you are afraid of... he is great! definitively recommend him
Reinhold is awesome! He makes the class super interesting and the guys funny. The class is pretty hard in itself, but he simplifies things. I recommend taking Calculus I before taking this class as his proofs can get a bit weird if your not used to it. Highly recommended prof.
I love Reinhold!!!! He's AWESOME! He's a great teacher and will do anything in his hands in order to make sure students understand the stuff. This guy is hilarious!! Not only is his accent incredibly funny, but he has corny jokes to go along with it! Take this guy!!!!!!!
HE IS A NICE GUY... ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP! EASY TESTS, ONLINE QUIZZES. GREAT TEACHER
Reinhold is great. He's German, and is very qualified to teach this class. You can understand him well despite his accent. He always has a demonstration that goes along with the subject for the class each day, and it's always fun to watch. Online quizzes a plus, and the tests are not too shabby. Smart, corny, and very nice and helpful. Take him!
I am not a physics person. My interest in the subject wasn't too high. Reinhold made physics appealing to me. He's a great instructor. The online quizzes are extremely helpful. Study them before the tests.
pretty hard. i had to drop the class it wasnt easy and its not his fault physics is not an easy subject but from the reviews it seemed alot easier. ALOT! if you need a science dont take it it is really hard. this guy is cool but the subject is tough so stay away from this one
I thought I was gonna fail this for sure, but he's a really good teacher...considering the subject. He's SUPER hands on, and very helpful. Take this guy!
Introduced me to the world of physics in a very appealing manner. He is a fun professor and has demonstrations to express ideas covered in the course. Uses online quizzes and covers all material that shows up on tests. I recommend to anyone who does not have a math major and needs to take physics I w/ calc. He's german which is cool.
He is very nice. Helps you out whenever you have a question or an issue. I thought i was going to fail miserably and i didnt. he explains well but it also helps to study with a friend or a group of friends he encourages it. If you study, youll pass. Plus he gives online quizzes every week that help you remember all the stuff.
PHY2049 is not precisely the easiest PHY class ever, however Dr. more interesting than it really is. His weekly quizzes seem like a drag at first, but eventually you realize that's the only reason you fully understood the material in the first place. He's really generous with partial credit on the exam too
This class was difficult and nothing like PHY 2048. However, Dr. Reinhold did a lot to try to convey the material to his students. He takes attendance and it helps your grade. Pay attention to the examples he does in class because they might be on an exam, but he also derives a lot of equations and sometimes this isn't on an exam. He's helpful
The topic is difficult, PHYSICS! but he is very hands on and explains it over if he must. Brings in experiments and powerpoints that are very helpful. Take good notes, have a study partner and STUDY! His online quizzes are rather hard, but better if you have a study group (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED get a partner in the class if physics is not your thing)
really good teacher. i hope he teaches physics 2 also. he brings experiments to class which is wonderful because it helps the students understand the material really well. his tests a really fare. half of them multiple choice and 3 derivations which come straight out of the mastering physics and the problems he did in class. take him !!
I believe Professor Reinhold is the BEST physics teacher at FIU. His lectures are extremely clear and his tests are easy as long as you attend the lectures and do the online homework. Tests are straight from his notes and HW. He puts the powerpoints online which helps alot too. He is a VERYY handsome man to look at, too. He is german which is cool
He is a very good professor and very helpful. Take him, without a doubt. The problems on the back of the exams come from the presentations. If you understand the homework and read the presentations , you can get an A.
I don't know WHAT professor those comments are intended for but it is definitely NOT this professor. He doesn't clearly explain anything. His exams are crazy. Out of a total of 60 pts there are 3 questions worth a total of 30 pts! Mess up one and there goes your grade. He is a nice person but if you have never taken a physics class, DO NOT TAKE HIM
He brings demonstrations to class, which makes understanding the material so much better. His exams are half multiple choice and 3 show work (that comes from his mastering physics HW) so its not like u never seen the questions before. 20% of your grade is from the grade u get in MP & the other portion from the exams:3 in total. His final is cumulati
PHYSICS-I hate that subject. REINHOLD-I love that teacher. What makes him so good? His teaching methodolgy. Instead of solely deriving equations, he takes the effort to demonstrate the experiments in class, which makes the concepts easy to visualize and hence helping us get a grip of the subject. The tests are easy to ace, provided the hw is done.
The comments below are misleading. While yes the tests come from the homework, that is only helpful if you actually understand the homework. If you are not good at physics and unable to devote all your time to it this class is not for you. (For example, if you work full time -_-) Very nice guy, but not the best explainer.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER trust me he sucks. you need 10 cups of coffee just to stay awake during his lectures & his grading is completely unfair. Better off taking Hawkins.
Please do not take this prof he is hard you have to do the MP if you want to pass and if you dont understand then you are def going to fail the test I got a "D" in his class.
Prof.Reinhold can be a little boring sometimes since he really wants you to understand physics and where all the equations come from. His exams are easy.... He is great....
Professor Reinhold is AMAZING. It's not an easy course at all, it requires a lot of practicing & studying. But he definitely knows how to teach & he's always willing to help. He actually makes Physics really interesting & fun (for non physics majors!) Definitely recommend.
Best Proffesor! No textbook needed, all tests come from matering physics and lectures. His lectures are great! His test are 50% multiple choice 50% problem solving questions. Easy class to pass with a C but you have to work a bit for an A. I suck at physics and I highly recommend him =]
This guy is the man. Makes physics easy and interesting. Gives two test and a final which are part MC and 2-3 show me the work problems. Very nice guy and has an awesome accent. Make him say Mu (friction coefficient) its hilarious. Never opened my book, just used my notes for MP and to study. Got 100 on both tests. Very good teacher.
He is a decent guy. Definitely better than some other physics professors at FIU. Good, but not the best. He is available for help outside of class somewhat and he does want people to pass. My only criticism would be that he could give better test reviews. Only take him or physics 2053 if you have a good working knowledge of trigonometry and algebra
Dr.Reinhold is an extremely nice professor. He tries his best to help his students. Physics is extremely tough. On average 70% of students drop or fail. His tests are always based on mastering physics. He brings in a lot of things to demonstrate physics in his lecture. He has a overall curve in his class. If you can do the MP, you will be fine.
If physics is your life. Take his class. The man is brilliant. However, he is unable to relay concepts and his notes are borderline useless. He's unhelpful if you visit during his office hours. You will learn more from Google.
He seems like a nice guy but is a little hard to understand due to his German accent. He knows Physics very well but does not do the greatest job in explaining concepts/problems. Checks attendance by assigning practice problems at the end of class. Unless you've got a really good knack for Physics, I'd recommend taking someone easier.
If you want to pass the class, you need to go for the sake of getting all the points that attendance is worth. hw: 20 pts attendance: 20 test 1: 20 test 2: 20 final: 40.. easy to get the 40 points from attendance + hw take notes and PAY ATTENTION. no surprises on test, just pay attention and study, you'll do fine.he's a great teacher.I got a B+
Great teaching style, very helpful and highly recommended. He seems to care about his students! Take him!
Goes slowly in the beginning so you really understand the material, but sped up in the end to fit all the lessons and it was somewhat confusing. Good lecturer. 2 tests and a final. Tests are fair. Gives Homework which was difficult. In class clicker questions.
Reinhold's class consists of iclicker, homework, 2 tests and a final. Test 1 & 2 are cake, provided you understand the homework and the stuff done in class. The final exam incorporated questions he barely went over throughout the semester. He's not very helpful one-on-one and tends to go really slow at first and then REALLY fast at the end.
For physics, Reinhold is your best bet especially if it's a subject you've never taken before. His tests aren't punishing, mainly consists of material shown in class and from the homework. He makes sure everyone can get help, has help sessions throughout the week. Two tests weighted equally, final 40% of the grade. 20% on homework and attendance
If you know how to do the homework and study the old exams, you will do well. He explains things well enough in class to give you good notes. Go to help hours with the LAs. Don't buy the book.
Prof. Reinholds is one of the best professors in the physics department. He knows where all formulas come from and he teaches you how to derive them, even without calculus. His lectures are crystal clear and his tests are ok. He gives old exams and the questions are more less the same. Awesome professor in general and really helpful
This is the worst professor I have ever taken in my life. His notes and lectures are unbelievably hard to understand and he is not helpful at all. If you are not good at math, do not take him, even without calculus because you risk failing. I tried very hard to understand him but was lost all semester. I regret taking him.
His teaching style is horrible. He doesn't clearly explain a topic before showing you how to do problems associated with the topic. You're given equations and instructed to solve for variables, which is difficult for people who've never taken physics or are not strong mathematically. Get the book for a better understanding of the material.
Teaches of the top of his head, and instructs by deriving formulas. he gives you all his previous tests which are almost identical to the exams. He's also a pretty cool guy.
No book needed.Does clicker questions during lecture and explains how to solve the problems.Brings props to class to facilitate your understanding.Weekly hw of about 15 questions (concepts and work out problems)on blackboard.Exams based on lecture and hw, and very similar to previous exams which he posts. ALWAYS willing and available to help.
His lectures are a little confusing since he loves using models and practices the theory in easier versions than what's on the test. His homework in posted in blackboard and often has mistakes which he gives full credit for the question that's screwed up. Comprehensive final, but the tests are 2 midterms with 3 long-answer questions. No test drops.
Good professor. Did a new interactive learning method this semester that was confusing. Gives hw on Blackboard that you have to look up on Google and figure out on your own. LAs are helpful. He is helpful and very kind. Gave us a do over on a question that was 10 pts on the exam
Nice guy. Not that clear and doesn't give concepts. Does give extra chances to boost your grade. Google your hw that's the only way you'll learn how to do it. No textbook. Interactive learning which we learned nothing from. Only good thing is that he gives us old exams that are very similar to the actual ones he gives out. Doable.
his lectures are based on concepts only, doesn't explain how to apply to actual problems, but he is a super nice guy and will help with extra points and do-overs. the hws can be done w the physics dpt tutors, and old exams are 90% actual test questn
He does not use the textbook, but should have. His lectures are not organized. The online quizzes contain problems that were never before discussed thus they are difficult. I had to look up YouTube tutorial videos because Reinhold didn't explain a great deal of things.
The class is not particularly difficult. Just online homework and 3 exams (including the final), but don't expect any help from Reinhold if you have any technical or academic trouble.
If you don't like Reinhold, you're probably stupid. He's amazing! Granted, he does give lots of homework but he made me enjoy Physics. He uses visual aids that help you remember the topic.
Overall a goof professor, however the subject is hard. His lectures can seem somewhat confusing but if you really want it the A is possible.
I took professor Reinhold for Fall 2014 semester, he is a highly motivational instructor. Exams are EXTREMELY straight forward, GO TO CLASS! Make sure you understand the HW and the practice exam questions, this is key to mastering his exams. Very approachable during office hours and loves to help.
Would take him again. You are graded on 3 exams, homework and participation. Physics is hard regardless however you can make a decent grade. I definitely did.
Best professor at FIU. Teaches well. His tests are exactly like his practice exams. Go to class, take notes, and do the homework. Go to help sessions or his office hours for help. Very straight forward and would take him again in a heartbeat. Got an A in the class.
He is a really great professor. Makes physics as clear as it can possibly be. Relies on clicker questions as participation so make sure you go to class. I would definitely recommend him. Wish he taught Physics II.
He's trying a new course format where you take weekly quizzes instead of tests. Homework on Bb, posted Sundays (due Tuesdays). He's very specific about the way he wants you to answer a question and doesn't care if you got the question right or not. Quizzes are one question of his choice. Your lowest grade becomes your grade in the course.
Reinhold makes physics clear and takes his time during lectures to explain everything thoroughly. He gives one quiz a week in lieu of exams and I've found this to be incredibly helpful. The quiz is usually a very similar question from the homework. I'm really glad I got him for physics.
He tried a new thing this semester where he didn't give any midterm exams and just gave competency tests. I really enjoyed it. I think my success in that class was due to this new grading criteria and even though he is really harsh with grading on the tests, I would say he is the best option when it comes to physics professors at FIU.
tough grader but give you multiple chances to get an A. expect a lot of homework! you have to work hard but he's one of the best physics prof at FIU. NO TEXTBOOK NEEDED
He REALLY cares about students learning the material and passing. He goes above and beyond for his students and has a huge line to his office every day. It was NOT easy to get an A in this class I retook some exams 4 times but you can retake exams. He is the best not because it was easy it wasn't but because of how much he cares about his students.
I came into to this class super scared and thinking physics was going to be the hardest class, but ended being yes challenging but how he explained the material was very helpful. This semester he started a new test system which I loved. I am a terrible test taker and get nervous so the fact that he lets you take the "quizes" over and over.....
You take 3 tests per topic. You need to get an A on all of the tests on every topic to get an A. He will grade you on Bb homework and clickers. The lowest grade is your final grade. He gives you plenty of chances to get do well. He doesn't like the way Clutch teaches, so don't bother. Go to class and read the book if you actually want to learn phy.
Dr. Reinhold's enthusiasm for his subject as well as his joy around the students makes me want to rethink if I want to become a professor instead of a medical doctor. He takes his time explaining concepts to students, emails students often to update everyone, makes tests for each individual student (all 200)! I nominated him for a teacher award.
Prof. Reinhold started this new system where you take a test every two weeks on a certain topic instead of 2 tests and a final worth a good chunk of your grade. I like this system. It makes you study, learn the material, and participate. He is really nice and wants his students to do well. Very helpful too; ask questions! Go see him in office hours
He introduced his new grading scale recently. We were originally suppose to have a test every other week and a quiz every other week. He is so behind we ended up canceling quizzes and giving a test EVERY week. He is really picky about how you derive and makes it impossible to get a A in the class. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS! Rude in office hours.
He is so behind on grading. You never know what test you will be given. Avoid this teacher if possible.
One of the best professors for physics, makes it really possible to get an early A. Advice: pay attention in class and don't waste your tries. He gives you 5 chances to make up tests that you failed so utilize his office hours, and the LA sessions. You WON'T GO WRONG bc then u wont have to take the optional final which is also
Reinhold was a pretty great professor. You have a lot of chances to fix your grade because his grading scale is pretty unusual and allows for you to make mistakes and not be penalized for them. There's also a bunch of help sessions offered and he's almost always available if you need to talk to him about something or need help.
He is a great professor and an entire semester he will make you think you doing fine but in the end he screw you bad. He made me work extra hard and I did all my homework study more than usual and at the end he I fail because of one exam, not fair when I was doing good on all my other exams
He is a great teacher. In the sense that he really knows what he's talking about. His lectures are interesting and I learned a lot in his course. However, he is an extremely picky and tough grader. He also has no concern for students. My homework average was a 95% and i performed strongly on all his exams and still ended with a C.
He is a very good professor, he really cared for his students and redesigned the class in a way meant for you to pass. You still have to study, physics ain't no joke.
If you pay attention during his lectures and actually do all your homework (not copy your classmate), then you should have no issue in this class. Reinhold tries his best to give you the opportunity to pass any test you failed to get an A in the class. His grading method can be confusing at first, but it's the best. Don't be lazy, & you'll get an A
Don't be lazy and you'll pass the class with an A, he is a very good professor! make sure you learn the problems from the HW because they will re appear as test questions. Overall, he is an excellent professor. He wants you to learn
He is an awesome professor! Despite many students saying he might be all over the place, he is just trying to make you pass and learn. I really appreciated how much time he invested in the class and in making sure everyone was comfortable, which obviously was never the case. Take him, I loved it.
He's incredible, he tries to make sure everyone gets the material. 1 question test weekly. 14 total tests, homework weekly avg 10 problems. Clear lecture & there to answer questions at any time. Genuinely cares & makes physics enjoyable. Highly recommend
Multiple chances for you to pass with an A. Follow his directions on how he wants the answer formatted & you will pass with an A. Slow grader. Students complain about not knowing which exam they will take (they obviously don't read the syllabus and use common sense). Slow grader. Genuine, helpful & patient. Got an A w/o any background in physics.
His grading criteria has changed since he first began his new teaching style. The exams are a bit more difficult than before. He is very picky when deriving formulas (although he gives you the final formula, for an A, you need to know the 'parent' formula). Test are similar to homework but kind of hard. Study and you'll do OK. ExamsFREE RESPONSE!!
This professor is a genius and loves to teach. He gives every chance for us to pass and pass with an A. The exams are only one problem, and nothing that we haven't already had for homework (easy). Don't miss the homework or you wont pass. Problem Solving class helps.
Really good professor with a lot of ways to get an A. Goes by a weird system. MUST complete homework to take a quiz. Quiz every week. Problem Solving class does NOT help. ALWAYS available to help students understand the material. Goes a little fast during class though. He's funny too.
Pros: ALWAYS available, nice, wants you to pass, multiple attempts at test. Cons: test every week, need to finish all weekly hw in order to take the test, german accent, assumes you have some background in physics, hard grader. My advice: LA help sessions are pretty much the only reason I passed, also do not take this with another work-heavy class.
He has been one of my favorite professors at FIU. He truly cares about his students and wants them to do well. weekly homework and test. Keep up with lecture, this class will be simple. Go to the LA help sessions, and office hours he is really nice and helpful. I had no background in physics and I'm expecting an A or B in this class.
The Professor is really nice & wants everyone to pass! I personally did not learn from his class, had to learn physics on my own. Homework due every Tuesday night. Test every Wednesday. Gives you many attempts to pass a test. He does not really specify what he wants in his evaluation of test so make sure to ask him !!
I don't understand why this professor has such a high rating. He's terrible. He doesn't consider that fact that you're a student who takes other classes. Went to his office hours twice and was no help. He was incredibly rude and said "google it". You need to spend SO much time just to understand the material on your own youll ignore your other cour
Aside from not being very clear in exactly what he wants in your evaluations, he's a great professor. I'm not the best at math and he and the LA's help you out. I don't like that we have a test every week, but in the end it means each test is weighted less. Only way to pass with an A is an A on all 4 advanced topics, and passing all 5 other exams.
You have tests every week. If you don't pass a test you fall behind in the class. The next week you have an option of 2 different tests (if you fail one), but you don't know which one you're getting. Gives your grade back at the last possible moment. Does not show you how to do the math for homework and it needs to be finished before the test.
I attended every class & found his lectures to be useless when doing the hw. You take weekly free response tests based on topics randomly selected from the hw which determine if you pass/fail the class. Waits til the last minute to give back graded test with no feedback. Doesn't discuss test in class nor is he available outside of class.
If you want a good grade you have to put in a lot of work and time studying. His tests are so annoying and he'll take points off of them even if you got the correct answer because he wants you to do it a certain way but doesn't even clearly explain how he wants it, you have to figure it out yourself. By the end of the semester I got the hang of it.
Attendance isnt mandatory but it does help to go to the lecture to get a grasp of whats going on. Tests are mainly just like the homeworks and he is a tough grader when it comes to grading. Theres no extra credit, grades are just based on 4 exams and homework.
