Very helpful. If you try, then so will she on the side. GOOD notes will give you GOOD grade. Excelent notes will give you Excellent grade. (Yes, you do have to study, duh!)

If you make sure to copy down everything she writes on the board and says in class, you will make an A. Her bonus ?'s are usually something that she says in class.

She is a great instructor. I had her online and she was very easy to work with if I got behind submitting assignments. She even let me postpone my midterm a few days when my daughter got sick the night before.

good teacher, but if you don't like essay tests you won't like her. also had to read a few extra books.

she is a very nice woman and seems to know a lot of what shes talking about. i like her class but her tests are very hard to me, i mean i do good on the essays but her multiple choice is very tricky to me. be sure to take good notes/write down pretty much everything she says!

You must read the books to get a good grade. But she is a really good teacher. As long as you take good notes that she writes on the board and study them, you will do fine on the essay tests. The weekly quizes, just read the chapter she tells you to.

I loved this class. Her lectures were interesting and put life into the subject. I will take her again next semester!

She is a really nice teacher but she is very hard. Make sure you study hard and take really good notes. Her tests are very tricky.

I liked her class and the way she taught. you do have to take very good notes to pass her class and do a tremendous amount of reading. But she will gladly help if your having trouble. she grades the test fairly based on how everyone else in the class did. I learned alot from her class and i would take her again in the future.

A lot of people said that she was spectacular, but she's just your average history teacher. Not to say I didn't like her, but her teaching style is average. I do enjoy the fact that she cares about the student's well-being and tries to help us learn. The only reason the tests can be hard is the essay; it counts for almost half the test grade.

I took this class online. It was very straightforward and Ms. Hume does try to help her students in anyway that she can. Keep communication open and she is very helpful. Great turnaround on grades, you always know exactly how you are doing. Tests are straight from the text, as long as you read you'll do fine.

Ms. Hume is a wonderful instructor. The class is hard but do your reading and you will do well. She has a great passion for History and it shows. If you have problems just ask and she is more than accommodating.

Ms.Hume is a great teacher! The online course was pretty easy, except for the chapter quizzes. They require a lot of studying. Other than that, the class was wonderful because she tries to portray the course in such a way as to make it exciting for the students.

Pretty good instructor. Took her online Geography class and she expects a LOT of time and assignments. 6 chapter tests, 6 map quizzes, 6 written assignments, web project, and novel (essay and quiz). Stick with her directions and you will do fine. All information for tests comes from the book. Not very clear when I emailed her questions.

A lot of work (see the 1/5/09 post), but she is very well organized. Almost all of the assignments are posted at the beginning of the semester, so you always know what is coming up. She seems very passionate about the subject. She checks assignments often and always knows when WebCT is down and gives extensions on the assignments when that happens.

She's is the best teacher for history she loves her job and does it well every day there is something new to learn.

She is a great teacher you will learn a lot of good stuff in her class. She does lover her job and she is great at it. You must go to class though test are directly from your notes

Absolutely my favorite teacher. She's very intelligent and teaches the material well. I'd enroll in her classes as much as possible.

I took her online geography class and she seems like a very dedicated teacher. I just cant understand her assigning seven 750 word essays for geography.......... thats just ridiculous

Ms Hume is incredibly helpful. This class was very interesting. You write essays over websites she has you visit, take map quizzes, and tests over textbook chapters. LOVED this class! (online)

My favorite teacher. Her class does require a decent amount of reading and studying, but it is worth having her as a teacher. Be sure to take notes during her lecture and make an outline to study before exams. Definitely recommended.

Great teacher. Made the subject very interesting. Expectations clear from the beginning of semester. Easy to work with and answers questions quickly. Love her!

She is a very nice lady. She expects alot, but is very clear about what she wants from her students. She is very helpful if you ask. Had weekly quizes from the textbook. The essays are straight from notes. I found the objective part very difficult. Also read a couple extra books.

I really enjoyed this class. I actually found the written assignments and map quizes to be kind of fun. She organized her class VERY well and I was never in question about what I was suppose to be doing, I liked that everything thing was always due of the same day every week. I would definitely recommend Ms. Hume.

Ms. Hume has an awesome personality and applies it to her teaching which makes paying attention in class a breeze. Her tests are super hard. Half of the exams are written essays. There is a TON of reading required for this class, most of the time you're reading from 3 different texts at the same time. This is not an easy class. Take someone else.

Yes it seemed like it would be very difficult after18 years, but with organization it is a pretty reasonable class. She tells you exactly what is expected from the beginning. She gives you plenty of time to prepare for her tests and you can ask her anything about specific things being on there. She is very enthusiastic and interesting!

VERY engaging, happy to be there. Take good notes during lecture(especially trivial things you may not think are important- she asked on a test Franklin Roosevelts fav drink!) Weekly online quizzes over textbook. Youll have to read two somewhat leisure books. Not hard as long as you read! Be able to memorize essays too! Half the tests are essays

Extremely helpful. You will earn your grade. between online quizzes using the book and test off of class lecture you pass or fail yourself. only reason my grade was so low because i didnt read a book that was assigned. Test dont overlap with quizzes which greatly reduces confusion. she is strict but very fair. It was a very interesting class.

I loved her! Amazing professor, yes there is a ton of work, but honestly if you listen in class her test are basically word for word! what can kill you are the test over books & quizzes! She made the class VERY enjoyable! i WILL be taking her again!

Best teacher I have ever had. She was willing to answer any questions and very quickly I might add. Quick like within hours. Very quick with grades and she helped everyone make the course as easy as possible.

Mrs. Hume is a wonderful teacher! If you just take the notes, read your book and do the quizzes and PUT IN EFFORT, you can easily make an A in this class. I've taken her for both 1301 and now 1302, and i've made an A in both. When emailing, she gets back to you quickly! May seem like a lot of work, but making an A in this class is possible :D

Great teacher. Very clear on details, and keeps you tuned in. In class quizzes are easy of you read. There is a lot of reading required, but overall she is a very good teacher.

A lot of work was compacted into 5 weeks. Web essays were too vague and lacking clarity and instructions

Taking history 1301 1302 with Ms. Hume was a blast. While the class is challenging and requires you to put in effort to receive an A, Ms. Hume was straightforward with what's required of you to succeed in the class. You basically have a one weekly history quiz online, one weekly novel quiz in-class, two book exams, and three major history exams.

Such an amazing professor!!! She is really into every lecture & gives you clear things you need to write down & remember. There is a LOT of work & a LOT of reading. But if you do it & make sure to actually study, you will do well. Highly suggest taking her classes!

LOTS of reading from the textbook & websites. Essay due every week and the final is tough. I failed my midterm both classes because you are required to write 4 essays on randomly selected topics. The only reason I passed the class was due to all the other papers I had written over the semester. She is very easy on grading those as long as you read!

You will readwrite A LOT! If you read the books, you'll pass. Take your paper to the learning lab and you should be fine. Expect to write A LOT for the mid-term. If you write about KEY ITEMS for the 8 chapters, you'll pass. I took the class online, and she was quick to respond to questions. Feedback is good.I liked her a lot, it's just not easy.

Didn't expect much out of a history class, but this teacher is awesome. She is very helpful and has very interesting lectures. You must show up to class, though, as her tests are practically word-for-word on her lectures. I recommend her.

Ms. Hume is a fantastic teacher! I took both sections of history with her and received a "B" the first class and an "A' during the second. She is helpful, responsive and encouraging. It is a relatively easy class, if you stay on top of the assignments!

Didn't expect to like a history class, let alone a 9:30 morning Monday class but by far one of my favorite college classes to date. Professor Hume is very straightforward in what you have to do to pass but keeps everything fun and interesting. Reading is required for this class as she has book tests. Lets you make up 1 major test if you miss.

350 characters is not enough to describe how incredible Ms. Hume is: one of the most OUTSTANDING professors at ACC. Her class is difficult and WILL keep you on your toes, but you will learn so much in 16 short weeks. I will recommend this teacher to every single person who has to take a history course. Thank you for making me love history, Ms. H!!

Mrs. Hume was one of my absolute favorite professors at Alvin. She gives you a clear outline of what is required of you for the semester, and if you turn everything in and study for your tests you will pass. My favorite thing about Mrs. Hume was her fantastic lectures, she is very engaging and personable in the way she teaches and is really funny!

Tk 5 wk online & not sure if I'll do that again. Syllabus very clear. LOTS of reading & wkly writing assignments (500 word essays)-READ material she assigns & write about it thoroughly, she grades pretty easily. Midterm & final was impossible WITH having read the ch.'s. 2 novels & quiz on each. Wkly writing saves your grade. Read novels too!

Professor Hume is AMAZING! Definitely recommend her to anyone who doesn't mind reading; it's not bad unless you really just don't like reading or have a lot of out of school responsibilities. Other than that she is funny, cares about her students, and is overall a great teacher.

Really has a passion for teaching and government. She wants you to comprehend the material, not just short term it. Definitely get all the required reading material and definitely do assignments as ahead of time as possible. Get enthusiastic about government and you're on the right path. DO NOT SLACK OFF!

Hume is amazing! Def not a class you can skip or slack off in. ALOT of reading and quizzes over the textbooks but if you have read the chapters, it's a breeze. Tests are challenging but they are over her lectures only. If you put in the work, you make a good grade.

The most caring professor I've ever had. Favorite to date and probably will be forever. All students love her, the nerds, and the deadbeats. She is smart, cares about enlightening students, is real and realistic. LOVES HISTORY. Laughed at least once every class. She. Is. Amazing.

Ms. Hume is an amazing US History teacher! I genuinely enjoyed having her for 1301. She never hesitated to answer any questions I had and was fair in grading tests, quizzes, etc. While there is a lot of quizzes, overall it helped boost my grade! One of the best professors I've ever had.

I genuinely enjoyed having Professor Hume for History 1302. She creates a class schedule at the beginning of the semester and sticks to it 99% of the time. She is very clear about what is on her exams and what she expects within essays. There is a lot of reading in the course, but it ties in very well with her lectures!

I love Ms. Hume a lot! She's a great professor and her class was good. My only issue was that she tends to let people talk too long and take over the lecture and get off topic often which can be frustrating. Otherwise, everything else was good!

Prof Hume is phenomenal! She responds to your emails if you have questions almost immediately and gives great feedback on essays/quizzes/tests. She set up a video ahead of time to help students understand how previous students seemed to study and get higher grades. She also remembers details about you that seem minuscule!

All she wants to do is teach you history. I can say that you HAVE to read the book. The test are all from the book. I signed up for her internet course for the fall because I liked her so much and come to find out she was only teaching on campus. I MOVED my schedule just so I can take her class. She is so supportive and truly loves her job.

If you love history- take Hume. If you hate history- take Hume. Seriously, shes such a fun teacher and always brightens up the room. If you put in the time and effort you will ace this class. She is supportive and understanding. By far one of my favorite professors on campus. She will always have the best interest in mind. She makes history fun!

She was the most memorable teacher of this semester. She was very kind, right the the point, and really easy to talk to. I'm taking her again next semester for sure. She's one of those teachers who WANTS to know your name!

She has a clear calendar/outline for the class. Her lectures are very informative and interesting. Take notes on everything she writes AND says. If you take good notes, are in class, and read the material you should do okay.

Professor Hume definitely goes out of her way to engage with students. She keeps class light but maintains importance on tough historical events. 10/10 would take her class again!

This is college. You have to actually do the work and participate if you want to pass. Your professor gives you the tools, then it is on you. Professor Hume puts considerable effort into the details of her assignments and gives great constructive feedback. She really helped shape me as a student!! I wish she had more classes!

Can not stress enough how great Ms. Hume is. Definitely would recommend taking her class in person rather than online because her lectures are FANTASTIC. Even the biggest history haters will love her class. Wish I could take her again.

TAKE MS. HUME! Her class is absolutely awesome. Our tests are open book and up to three pages of notes, but you MUST read the material before the exam or you will struggle. She has three essays, but they are very relaxed and informal. I'm seriously debating taking an unnecessary class just to take her again!

Literally one of the best history teachers at ACC. She is very quick at responding and gives amazing feedback. She grades your assignments very fast. She does not lecture with powerpoint.

One of my favorite professors. Everything is clearly laid out for you, and none of the work is very difficult.

Don't know why you would want to miss class because she is the most engaging professor I've ever had. Doesn't teach with power points and I never feel I have to check a clock wondering when class will end. I actually wish class would go on after class is over because you can tell when she talks, she really cares about wanting you to learn.

So kind and understanding. She is so funny and her lectures are enjoyable. YOU HAVE TO READ or you will not pass. She mostly assigned quizzes and tests so the course was a little difficult. She really cares about her students and what she teaches.
