I took german for 3 years in highschool and hadnt had any experience with it for 3 years before taking his class. He is very nice, funny, and easy going. you will not regret having him as your teacher.

Mr. Bruestle is a wunderbar teacher. He taught us so much in one semester. I laughed during every class. His motto is laughter helps a person learn. He was born to teach. He also knows Russian, French,English and Spanish-absolutely amazing guy!

I have taken over a hundred units over the past three years and he is the most qualified and competent teacher I have ever had. He has innovative teaching methods and is unbelievable knowledgable about german and linguistics. Cares about teaching and it shows. German 4 was sorta hard though.

I love this guy! Unfortunately I had to move to Sacramento after taking 120 with him and was unable to take any more German classes. If I had the option, I would definitely try to enroll in another German class taught by him. Also, I missed the mid-term and took the final eary and still got an A!

Very clear. Good examples and explanations. Not much work to "turn in." You're expected to do it at home and check it against the answers. He does give work that you should be prepared to review the next class time. It's a lot easier when you do--believe me. Says exactly what will be on all tests.

Professor Bruestle is the greatest, coolest, nicest, funniest and brightest language instructor. He makes German easy and fun. Take German and trust me you're going to love this guy and you will be talking German in no time. He's absolutely THE BEST!!!

Johannes is a great instructor. He has a great sense of humor, he cracks you up. He really cares about his students and is always ready to help you. He explains everything so clearly. I recommend him. He's really sweet and cute.

I love this man.

Good teacher and funny at times, but he has a tendency to go off on tangents about word origin and colliqualisms. His lectures aren't as clear as they could be, and I've really had to use the book and tutors to fully understand things.

Incredible source of knowledge. I love how he goes into the origins of the words!

His methods of teaching really help the concepts and vocabulary stick in my memory. Great attitude towards the class and students.

He's simply the best! Organized, friendly, helpful, and always thinks about his students. Breaks the drudgery of grammar with humor. Shares experience and passion for learning languages. Really knows how to teach and get through to every person in class. Wish that every prof @ Grossmont were as capable, caring, and committed as Johannes!

Johannes is a fantastic teacher. The class is fun and he makes everything very clear and very easy to follow. Aside from the language information itself he also includes much information about the culture of the German speaking countries and can put in a great joke or two if one listens closely.

There aren't sufficient adjectives to positively describe this instructor. The only negative aspect I can think of (& I'm wracking my brains for this one) is that if you have had some German & you take a German 1 or 2 course you won't be learning any new crap & the fun students have learning the crap won't appeal to you. Seriously though, THE BEST.

Mr. Bruestle is absolutely terrific. He is a great German professor and also a great person. People like him make the world a better place. He rocks!!

Such a great teacher. He's really funny and goofy and he makes everyone feel comfortable with eachother. Even if you don't like German, you'll probably like this class. Johannes makes things really easy to understand and is very patient and helpful. Take him, he's excellent!!

Fantastic, I can not imagine a better professor.

You'd think taking German in the summer would be a stupid idea. He is an awesome, easy, entertaining instructor for any subject he'd teach. He masters the art of teaching German. I took four years of it in high school and didn't know anything coming into his class; coming out of his class I'm 200% better at it.

Best teacher I ever had. He makes every effort to help you succeed. Keeps your interest and the class time passes quickly. Very fair wtih students. He makes it easy to learn difficult material. Meets individual student needs.

Johannes made German an essential part of my college experience. If it weren't for him and his great teaching I wouldn't have even considered taking another two semesters of German, and it's my major now! Expect to study to get an A, but even if you don't open the book once you'll learn some spitze stuff just by showing up.

Johannes is not only the BEST professor in the world but also a WONDERFUL person. It's been an honor for me to be his student. You won't only learn a beautiful language but you will also get to meet a very neat and sweet person who loves his job and his students.

He makes the class so comfortable and easy, it's just natural to learn something. Everyone passes, and studying just gets you an A. He is seriously the best professor at this college. If you need extra help he recommends seeing the German tutor. Go see her if you can. She's really good at clearing stuff up, plus she's young and good looking.

Johannes is the best professor BAR NONE. I took german with him for 4 semesters and cannot describe the impact this man has had on my life. He gives you a love for the subject, he truely cares, he presents the subject in a clear manner. I cannot even fit all that I want to say about him here. Johannes is seriously the best.

johannes is by far the best language teacher i've ever had. he can clearly teach the language in a fun way and is always super prepared (like a good german) for class. the class is almost 3 hours long but it goes by really fast because you are so engaged. i love that guy

Better than any professor I've had at Grossmont or SDSU. One of the most intelligent people I've had the privilege to work with. Herr Bruestle has a witty sense of humor and made me laugh at least once every class. I had him for three semesters and I loved every minute of it. Most importantly, if you're into older men he's total eye candy.

This is my third semester of German with Johannes. He is an awesome teacher and makes the language very easy to learn. If you're interested in taking German, take Herr Bruestle's class!

This guy is da bessst. After 3 semesters with him, his classes are still engaging and interesting. I learn something new every class. He's possibly the smartest professor I've ever learned from. As long as you show up, take notes, and study a little bit, you shouldn't have trouble earning an A or B. I highly recommend this guy!

Herr Bruestle is pretty hilarious. His class is kind of laid back, but at the same time professional. Attendance is not mandatory per say, but he often said, "You cannot win if you are not here to play". He has a slight accent but you get used to it, and it's hardly there. You will have to study for this class if you have never taken German before

Mr. Bruestle is an excellent professor. You can easily understand the subject and you learn a lot about the culture of Germany, and some of Europe. He makes the language very easy to catch onto. You will need the book, as you use it every day in class. You can share books with friends. Buy t he workbook too, since you turn it in on the final day.

I've had German instructors in the past that I thought were good.. and then I met Johannes. He is the best at what he does. If German is hard for you, he makes it easy. If it's easy for you, he makes it even easier. As long as you participate, you are in like flinn.

Professor Bruestle is an awesome teacher. He made sure we were all learning German. His charts for "Der" and "Ein" words made it easier to understand, along with charts for other words. He gave out plenty of handouts to help us better grasp concepts. I really wish I kept him for German II because the new teacher doesn't do that and it's painful.

Bruestle was one of the more memorable teachers I've had. He makes the lessons clear and knows how to keep his students interested. He's patient and forgiving to mistakes and is a good judge of how ready we are for tests. He not only makes the language interesting, but the entire country of Germany by showing us culture and history. Great teacher!

Johannes loves what he does. He will work with you until you understand completely. He makes an 8:00 a.m. class fun and engaging. It is virtually impossible to walk out of this class with less than A and a comprehensive grasp of German.

Johannes is, in My opinion, one of the best professors out there. He makes German easy to learn by using formulas and diagrams. He is very knowledgeable in other languages as well so he helps you to see the evolution of both English and German, along with their many connections and similarities.

Johannes is such a great professor. His class was challenging, but not impossible, and you would have to not care at all to fail. He gives great handouts and the class periods are fun. Make friends and do study groups! Being in class the day before the test is imperative, he always goes over test material then. Take Johannes, you won't regret it.

WOW! Herr Bruestle! i cannot say anything, but GREAT things about this man! A very inspirational teacher who's determined to help his students in every way! Internships abroad or just help in general, he's there! he's very understanding! as long as you tried and didn't give up, he will help you pass his class. You learn a lot!

My favorite professor at Grossmont! His classes were always very interesting and I looked forward to going. It was a bit challenging but if you put the work in an A is achievable. I plan on taking him again soon!

Best teacher ever. Walked into German 1 with a vague interest in learning the language and I stayed with him all the way throughout the program. He's super helpful and does a really good job at keeping the environment really relaxed. He doesn't make you feel stupid if you're confused and tries his best to help you out.

Best Professor Ever in My Life!! Even after I transferred to UCLA, I still received email from him to offer joining his class for German IV. He is a very inspiring professor and wants you to learn the language. You do not have much opportunity to see a professor like this in a lifetime, so take advantage while it lasts.

Never have homework but in class is where you learn. Participation is everything because he tests your ability and gives you feedback. Tests were tough for a year one class, fair amount of listening in german and finding answer in english. Johannes is a great professor though and he made the class fun.

Brusestle is nice. Theres no oral presentations only quick conversations in German between students & him. He dosnt make us stand up which I like. Hes a fair grader. The homework is only due at the end of the semester and gives you answer sheets the day after he gives it out. The subject was difficult and at times he would speak to much German

Prof Bruestle is an overall good teacher. He has funny German videos from the 80's and interesting lectures. The class isn't too difficult if you keep up in class. Participation is a must as he calls on people randomly so brush up before class daily.
