If he feels that you're not, he will tell you right off the bat that it's best to drop the class and take another professor for the same subject. Got myself an A but it wasn't easy. ProF. Aceto was very helpful. I toke him for a prequiste english class and had to retake the act test.... It is a LOT OF WORK. If your willing to work your accomplishments cleary show. I got a 9 on my act and in later english classes he prepared me for english 101. he was a great proffesor and I would recommend him to anyone!

Not bad. He is very strict but very funny as well. He gives lots of assignments. U have to keep a journal. U can upgrade ur essays for a better grade if u submitted them in time. He doesn't give specific grade (until which is ur course grade). He grades ur essays out of 10 (5/5). U must pay ATTENTION to his INSTRUCTIONS. Work hard & u can do well.

This prof. is one of the best, he is very demanding with work but if you do as he says you can pass with no problems.

He's not friendly at first (he's guarded), so give him a chance. You can get a good grade (A or B) if you do the work and pay attention. Don't take the class if you will: fall asleep, goof off, act homophobic, or not pay attention. I highly recommend him. His name is "Jon", not "John". He grades VERY fairly - better than other instructors!

He's a great teacher, just make sure you do all his work and do it well. He is strict with grading. I thought I would get at least a B, but I got a D+. =( Make sure your journals are great. The presentation is the easiest part of this course. Sweet, simple and quick. He is also funny. You wont fall asleep in his class.

This teacher is amazing. He is engaging, intelligent, helpful, and passionate about his teaching. His humor is hard for some to swallow only because its sarcastic and "in your face". He really makes you think about both the material and the things people take for granted in every day life. He reminds me of Dr. Bruce Matthews from BHSEC.

The best English Professor in Laguardia-period. He has teaching down to a science, and is able to use his intellect and black humor effectively and amazingly. Although he is great, he is extremely tough on attendance and essays, but don't let that hold you back. His enthusiasm is actually inspiring, and has led me to continue reading poetry!;-)

I have successfully completed my Eng 102 class. My grade is exactly what I think i deserve. If I had the chance, i would take it all over again(just kidding)I definitely will recommend my friends and other classmates to take professor Aceto. I have learnt a lot in his class. He's honestly one of the best professors, actually teachers, I've ever had. He's passionate about the subject, he speaks many languages, I was actually able to speak to him in German. He explains anything that needs clarifying and he makes the subject enjoyable. He grades according to how much you learn and your efforts. He's an amazing professor.

It was so entertaining to watch him teach. He uses foul language to keep us awake, but he truly is a nice guy! I learned so much in his class; I am now taking an ENG 102 in honors and I find myself less stressed because I was very well prepared. Great professor, I highly recommend him. Do Not Skip This Class. Great Professor. He will fail you if you miss more than 5 hours of class even if you are an A student. The essays are repetitive. Its basically the same essays but with different stories or poems. The research paper at the end of the semester is just a revision of one of your previous papers with scholarly articles.

Mr. Aceto changed my life when it comes to literature. some say he is not easy but in all truth he is . If you are a strong minded person, a hard worker and take college seriously you will be grateful to have him but if you are a procrastinator do not waits your time in his class. I got an A-

Great professor, actually took the class before and failed with a different professor. Taking it with him was a breeze. He is clear with what he wants and as long as you follow it you'll get a good grade. Lets you revise essays to get a higher grade which is great.

Changed the way I view literature. Dr Aceto is very passionate about what he teaches and is extremely intelligent. Do your readings, do your papers (which you can revise and he helps you), and 1 last research paper. He is very strict on lateness and attendance but amazing professor nonetheless. Dr Aceto really has been my favorite professor, hands down. His personality comes out in waves that always leave the entire class laughing and shocked because he's so funny and free. Jon Aceto was the best Eng Prof. He was deff a bit intimidating at first, but you will learn a lot from him. Text book is a must, and make sure to bring it everyday to class! The readings were always interesting, and his lectures were amazing. He def kept you awake from his choice of language. This class was so worth it, always take notes !

If youre sensitive, get over it and get ready to challenge yourself. Ive never had such meaningful lectures. Take his papers (5 total), attendance (a second late gets you a 0 on due dates) and journal work (25% of grade!!) seriously!! It all adds up to your final grade and if you SLACK on these 3 things, youll REGRET IT. READ THE SYLLABUS!

This is the most difficult class i took this semester, but the best learning experience i gained from this class. He comes off a bit harsh in the begining of the semester but he is very friendly and willing to help. Do not miss any classes, they matter. You get 5 papers and you have to hand it in on time, he is really looking to see if you improved

Yes, he's intimidating but he's HILARIOUS! Tips: write everything in journal, type up the vocab (tape it to journal) and don't fall back on the reading. The reading is what makes it a bit hard IF you fall behind on it. He's really a kind person but show him you have courage and the scariness will pass. He helps a lot during office hrs. He's awesome

This class was very difficult for me but I loved it. If you take life too serious and get offended easily, this professor is not for you. He is intimidating but his lectures are amazing and he makes it all fun. This professor has no filter and will say what is on his mind. One of the best classes Ive had so far.

Youll need a notebook to do multiple assignments each week. Here you have to read multiple essays and answer 1-2 questions about it, prepare a vocabulary and do a free writing talking about your personal experience on a topic he assigns. However, this isnt due until the end of the semester. Hes really funny, you wont get bored in his class!
