Altman is a really cool guy. Tests are easy bc they are right from the notes. Papers are a little difficult, but manageable. He makes government interesting. Ask to see his Tattoos and youve got 15 minutes wasted right there.

Awesome professor, very nice to look at also, but always keeps a grin on my face. Go to class, pay attention, laugh at the jokes, study and you'll be fine. Very intelligent guy and would go out on a limb if any student needed help.

If you had no idea whast going on in politics, you will after this class. Altmans funny, tells alot of jokes but is also very clear with the material. If you show up to clas and listen, take down whatever he puts on the board. you will do great

Altman is fun and keeps you awake. A lot of the time he is too busy telling goofy stories to teach on the subject. He's really cool to talk to if you ever go to his office. Some people say his exams are too hard.

Best Professor in the college. One of the easiest A's I've ever gotten. Really no work required for the class. Tells hillarious stories each class. Just pay attention and tests are easy.

He was the best prof. he's exciting and will go on and on about his personal life. he plays devils advocate all the time so you never really know what his views are but overall he is the best ps prof there is

I had a great experience in this class. It was easy and fun, and he was totally fair. However, a semester later a friend of mine had a very different class set-up than mine, but I would take him again.

pretty easy class, 4 multiple choice tests all year, a lil extra credit (serioulsy little, like 1 pt per paper) Good class to be in hes funny keeps ur attention, but keep in mind it is still politics... take him whether u need it or just for fun

best teacher i've ever had. love him. gave me an a for perfect attendence. learned so much i almost changed my major. seriously- take him any chance you get. go to class, study for tests, and try not to be distracted by his amazing hotness and i garauntee you will do well

Great teacher, teaches gov. in a unique way that makes it intersting. Must study for his tests, just focus on notes and look over required chapters. He wants students to do well, provides a relaxing atmosphere and funny guy. Take his classes!

This class was a lot of fun. He made everything amusing and I still feel like I learned a lot. I found the tests to be somewhat challenging because some questions seemed tricky. There were some meaningless statistical questions on the test but other than that he was very fair. VERY COOL! Take him!

This was an intense class...but he is a great teacher. He covered all the material that you needed to know for the test so there was no guessing about what it would be on. Although it varies by sem. whether it will be MC or essay

Great person and teacher. He makes what could be a very dry subject, interesting. You need to go to class though in order to get the notes for the exams.

Class is super easy. Don't miss class or come late, take notes and you'll get an A. Tests are straight out of the notes. Not to mention he is hysterical and will talk about anything!! Would take another class with him anyday!

awesome teacher. breaks up the monotony of class by talking about random crap thats actually interesting to us (well, some of us) and hes the only teacher i know of that has full sleeve tattoos.

overall great teacher so far. he tries to keep class interesting, and usually throws in two or three references to weed per class period. takes an interest in his students. passionate teacher. and since quitting smoking didn't work, he's now my smoke pal between classes. definitly recommended!

Had him for 2 other classes which were fun, now in scopes and it is sooo dry. He tries, but the class is so boring.

Amazing, entertaining teacher. He conveys the material well and keeps it interesting. Effective without being too demanding. Yes, the Presidency kind of sucked, but it wasn't his fault. There just isn't enough interesting content to last a whole semester and the readings are long and boring. He did his best and the comedic relief made it bearable.

I got him on an essay test semester so that sucked real bad because I am not the best writer. I still got a 3 out of it. Lecture periods were great! He is fun and interesting no matter what material he is covering but I might be partial because I do have an interest in Politics. He also cancelled class for like a whole week once. That was nice!

Really interesting professor. Discussions were great. Tests were sometimes all essay, but weren't difficult as he told you what was going to be on it.

altman is amazing. i failed american government last semester because i had a horrible professor. this time around is a different story. he's funny and knows how to keep your interest. his tests are kind of iffy, but if you go to him for help you'll be set. TAKE HIM NOT VAN TASSEL!!!

Mr. Altman got me interested in class even though I didn't know anything about this info at all. He is hilarious and down to earth. If you attend all classes he will boost your grade. Tests vary each semester but require studying and thinking about each answer. He is also gorgeous!

Dr. Altman was awesome!! I would recommend him to everyone. Hard as hell tests, but if you study everything in the book and lectures youll be fine. Very funny and interesting classes.

The tests are hard, but if you take good notes you'll be set. The weekly assignments are a piece of cake. Miss less than three classes and you get to skip the final. Plus? His tats are awesome to stare at while he jokes about what Obama is like in bed.

great teacher!! do the weekly assignments!! go to every class because if you do he will help you he boosted my grade from an 88 which is 3.5 to a 4 which is a 90 in his class. also if you go to almost every class you may not have to take the final

Decent professor. Uses unlimited amount of profanity. You will have 3 multiple choice exams and 3 to 4 essays to write (which are 3 pages long). A few chances for extra credit. He puts the notes from class on Blackboard.

Dr. Altman is by far one of my favorite professors. I took Scope with him. It was a boring class and the tests were challenging, but if you ever need help you can go to him. He is more than willing to listen and lend a hand to his students. Funny and interesting, even though the class material is not. Take one of his classes: you won't regret it

Loved this class even though the exams were rough. In the beginning of the semester he was willing to change his style of teaching if that would help grades. Papers are easy and don't blow them off because they could save you in the end.

attendance is mandatory. involves 10 mini assignments that help with data for the research paper. midterm and final with study guide for each. goes on tangents during class and a few power point slides that he posts online. willing to help out and even extend deadlines if you have trouble with something. great professor! very personable

Teaches one of the best scope and methods classes that is offered. When I took it attendance was optional, though I believe that has changed. Regardless attendance is important-take good notes and you'll get a really good foundation on methods. The ten assignments that were required were useful and helpful. Fair grader.

Amazing professor, took his intro class because I heard he was good and added a Poly Sci major to my History major by the end of the class. Took him for Scopes and he keeps the class interesting while learning difficult material. By far the best at explaining methods of Poly Sci

Altman is by far the best. Attendance is mandatory, but with him you'll want to go to class. He is hilarious and goes on tangents a bit, but is a great teacher. He'll give extra help when needed but make sure you pay attention in class and you'll be good. Seriously though, take Altman whenever you can.

Go to class because if you only miss 2 or less you are exempted from the final and bumps your grade up. 3 papers each 1000 words and 3 tests short answer and paragraph. Straight forward and actually learn about the government.

John Altman is hilarious, but, I could not allow myself to simplify his excellence by using that as a tag. He is more than that, he is the most honest, succinct, objective professor I have come in contact with and he is clear when there is no definitive answer to a question posed. Aristotle would be proud to have know this man.

Dr. Altman is a wonderful, caring, and intelligent man! Hes different and amazing at the same time and extremely easy on the eyes! Hes real upfront which is kinda hard to get used too. Once you give him a chance and get to know him hes a great Professor who truly cares about us. I wish I could take another class with him. He makes math fun!

He's very chill and easy to talk to. Just be open to communicate and there is no way you won't pass. Mildly lenient with attendance just come every once in a while.

Is a good professor, very funny and keeps class interesting. Sometimes quizzes can be hard because he doesn't use the powerpoints and speaks more from his mind. Take notes on what he says and less on the powerpoints. Very understanding about mental health days and generally quick to respond to emails.

Excellent professor. May take a while to respond to emails. Be *specific* with your inquiry. Also, be sure what final paper topic you choose can be measured by statistical analysis in IBM's program, "SPSS".

Professor Altman is a nice man and try to make the difficult material fun and entertaining he cracks jokes and is interesting. There's a lot of homework and the assignments are super condensed. Bring your A game and you will do great he's understainding.

Dr. Altman is absolutely hilarious and is always going off on his "tangents." Funniest prof. I've met. At one point, he talked about the fifth dimension in class and why aliens look the way they do.

Dr. Altman was an amazing professor, he was very helpful when you had issues inside and outside of class. Gave feedback on everything, very understanding. Would highly recommend taking a class with him if you can.

Very interesting and relatable professor. Classes are straightforward, but they can get boring especially long online classes. He tends to get sidetracked and go very slow, falling behind schedule, but he is flexible in working with students to ensure they succeed. The assigned homework is usually short and easy if he has any at all. No tests

Does not grade assignments before exams so you essentially have no clue how you're doing. He is very nice and will extend deadlines but you're not gonna get feedback back in a timely matter. His lectures are good if he stays on task, he can get sidetracked with random thoughts.

Very easy class and professor is great! If you don't have a good sense of humor don't take this prof! He is great though and I was always excited to go to class because he always had something "extra" to add to the class so you didn't feel like you were sitting in a lecture the whole 50 minutes!!
