John is one of the most dedicated teachers at this school. He is anal about being on time, so, if you want to score points, be ON TIME. The material is complex, but he will ALWAYS wotk with you. He's one-in-a-million.

John Aubert (pronounced: oh-bear) is the kind of teacher who gets these "Teacher of the year" awards. Tough act to follow. Dilligent.

John Aubert has his own website for his students, and has each and every lecture in there...for all of his classes. I don't know ANY OTHER TEACHER who does that. This guy actually cares about his students! You could do a lot worse.

I asked a lot of questions for my clarification, which annoyed him throughout the year, but he still took the time to dutifully answer me. Funny guy, great professor.

Great teacher. Really cares about helping his students understand the material. Teaches with funny stories, jokes, and big hand gestures. He takes role at exactly X:00:00 (www.time.gov) so you can be tardy even at a few seconds, so don't be late!

I didn't think I would be interested in Geography what so ever before taking the class. He was a great teacher and very enthusiastic. The only thing is that he calls on people at random to ask questions (but usually easy ones).

Gives all of his notes on his website, gives only three homework assignments, will repeat himself several times to try to drive the information inside your head. Class goes by slowly, so prepare to be bored

He is very passionate about Geogrophy and teaching. 4 or 5 tests, 3 HW, labs every week and 2 lab tests. As long as you prepare a thourogh note sheet its easy. Aubert is great.

He has his own website with the study guides on them. Fairly easy teacher, just a little anal about diagrams on the tests. Make a note sheet for the test and STUDY the study questions and you'll do fine. Not too hard for a remedial class as long as you study. Don't forget to show up for class, IT WILL COST YOU DEARLY! recomend+

Prof. Aubert was one of the best teachers I have ever had at ARC. He clarified anything and everything that would be on the test. He was also very entertaining and funny during lectures. If you just study the sample exam questions and go over the online notes, you will do fine.

Professor Aubert is an awesome teacher. I would recommend him to anyone, whether you are interested in the subject or not he will make the class worthwhile.

There is a lot of info so have to go to class everyday. He will do everything that he can to make sure that you pass the class as long as you meet him half way. He is very passionate about his job so it makes it interesting to you. All most made me want to change my major. I had fun in his class.

I wish all teachers were THIS dedicated to their students.

So I've only had his class for two weeks so far and I LOVE it! I have learned so much stuff already, it's amazing! I totally recommend him and if I can I would take him again too. :- )

You can tell he loves his job. He excells at all aspects of teaching you the material. He'll even put it into laymans terms just to really make sure you learn. Aubert is awesome! He LOVES teaching, and it shows. he really wants his students to succeed and does everything in his power to allow that. You get a whole page on the tests, minimal and easy homework, just pay attention and make sure you go over the study guide he gives you because everything on the test is on the study guide! Frickin hot too!! =]

I think this is a great class. He's very energetic about his teachings and its also interesting. There are a lot of notes to study from but it isnt that hard.

He's cute. He knows a ton & loves what he teaches. We went to Death Valley-he sang to us every morning! I learned so much & he made it so fun & easy to remember! Loved him! He's married/kids, but still handsome!

Aubert is awesome. Totally awesome. He teaches in a way that no matter how hard you try the information leaks into your brain. Honestly. And seriously go to Death Valley with him. He knows everything there is to know about the place and makes the trip really fun without being too uptight about keeping to a schedule.

He's great. Extra credit, pages of notes for tests on his website, will meet with you whenever... He really likes what he teaches and wants you to do well in his class. This is why he's such a great guy. His field course is cool, too, if you get the chance you should really take it. The fact that he enjoys his job is what makes him the best!

Mad teaching skillz! Energetic, very organized & respectful of his students' time. Expectations are clearly set forth. Homework asignments are imaginative, allowing you to pick & choose from several options. Very considerate of the individual student's learning style/concerns. Note: U will take the map quiz in the 1st two weeks of class. As soon as u get it start! Don't waste a freakin second. Although u can retake it til u get an A, why retake it during his office hrs when u can just take it once in class? He gives u like 5 mins to take the quiz. Frustrating. But overall, a good teacher.

Just a lab. There are 13 labs and 2 practicals. labs are group labs. worth 50% of grade, practicals put together are worth 50% of grade. Your are allowed to have your lab papers while you take the practicals. Easy A if you pay attention and remember what you are doing.

teacher- very nice, very helpful,explains everything, funny. Notes- he gives a unit packet which you fill in & you have to do 5 out of 6 HW's. Test- 4 tests. onesided page of notes allowed. (i would type up all the vocab words w/ definition, & shrink the font. fill in blank spaces with diagrams). If you do all your work. its an easy A.

Lab class. we had one lab per week. one midterm & one final lab practical exam. can use graded labs on lab practical. if you follow directions it was an easy class

Prof. Aubert is the best professor I've ever had. He sets you up for success by offering you every chance to improve your grade with extra credit or study sheets. If you have any questions you can ask after class or send him an email. He always replied to me within a few hours. I definitly recommend this teacher to anyone.

I took the GEOG lab class with Aubert and my GEOG lecture class with another professor. I wish I had gotten Aubert for my lecture class as well. He is very helpful and makes things crystal clear. Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. Would highly recommend him for any class. In his lab class we only used the textbook sparingly.

Before joining this class, i had zero interest in Geography and only took it to fulfill my GE requirements, however,by the time i was done, i was ready to consider it as my major! Loved him! Allowed a one page of notes to the exam and was available for help outside office hours! Gave extra credit for that too! Take him!

Took this class thinking that it would be an easy A class because of all the reviews on here. Do not take if your just taking this class to fullfill a general ed requirement. He cares wayy toooo much about geography and for me as a last semester student at ARC I just wasted my time studying and focusing on a class that was not important to me!

He wants you to learn, he has a good attitude and energy in his teaching, gives lots of examples demonstrating important concepts, and is very clear with what he expects of you. I definitely recommend him. He makes Physical Geography fun and interesting to learn!

Great teacher! He cares so much about his subject, and it definitely shows in the way he teaches it. He is really helpful & a super nice guy. But don't take this class if all you want is an easy class to slack off on. You need to actually study and preferably like environmental systems/geology/geog. to get a good grade here. I personally loved it.

Professor Aubert makes it abundantly clear what is expected of you. Nothing is especially hard, just take your education seriously and you will do fine. He is a great teacher, and his lectures are interesting. Be sure to take good notes.

Great guy and great teacher. Loves what he does and cares about his students. Tests,quizzes, and homework are easy if you put in even a little time and plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Make sure you show up-this class is worth the time. But you can definitely skip buying the book. Didn't need it once.

Aubert is an awesome professor, and a great guy. I signed up for his classing not having looked him up and I definitely lucked out. He is funny and cares about his students. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't go to class it will come out of your final grade. All the material on tests and quizzes comes from the lecture. TAKE HIM!

One of the best professors I've come across! Makes learning Geography incredibly easy with his amazingly animated and clever teaching techniques! He is VERY passionate about what he does and wants you to succeed in his class. Everything from the exams will be in his lecture notes and he allows you to have a full page of notes for every exam!

My favorite teacher ever. Class is by not easy, but geography is so interesting it is difficult to fail his class. He is a bit of a nerd which makes the class fun. Great sense of humor. Great Professor, friendly too. Is there for you when you struggles with Geog. Tests and helpful quizzes exist. He gives clear lectures, notes are easy to follow through. Professor was great at his teaching. Not being able to love any science, he made it so interesting that I found it useful and actually listening to his lectures. Nice professor, each test can used one page note(cheat sheet). That is why take good notes during lecture. Like some said already is there for you, if you struggle. Very little homework, but a lot of answering questions. Do your best guys, keep in touch with the class that is all I can say.

Exams are in depth, with diagrams to be drawn and mutiple choice, as well as essay questions, but he allows a sheet of notes so it balances out a bit. His lectures are straight to the point, and easy to understand, all information required is typically in the handout with reading the book. Good professor, I'd suggest taking lab with him same time

Professor Aubert was my very first college professor coming out of high school. He has interesting lectures and many stories he likes to share. He offers a lot of extra credit to help you. He is rooting for you not against you. Just show up and take notes and you should be good. He grades based on total points earned, keeping tracks of grades easy.

If you are like me, you are taking GEO because you need it for requirement. John was amazing! I hate taking notes and lectures and usually end up falling asleep in classes. He printed the notes out for us and made sure we understood all. I was in a 4week class and he was able everyday after class to talk and help students. TAKE HIM!!

Awesome Teacher! Gives you everything you could possibly ask for to succeed in his class and is there for support if you need it. The semester is all mapped out so there are no surprises. Professor Aubert is amazing! There are two map quizzes, four tests, and five (technically 6, but the 6th is extra credit) home works in the class. There is so many extra credit opportunities too and you can have a note sheet on his tests! All the tests count meaning that the lowest grade is not dropped. Best professor ever and my major isn't Geog!

This a great proffesor you get the grade you work for. Straight foward with grading. If you are needing a GE credit to graduate college take him! advice do all practice exams they will save you in the end!

I signed up for his summer course not knowing what to expect. He makes class interesting, gives very clear instructions for homework, and gives MAANY extra credit chances; there's no way you can get lower than an A unless you just slack off. I was pretty suspicious of all his good ratings but they're all true! He actually cares about each student.

LOVE this professor. He made me love Geography, as well! The class was way easier than I thought it would be. He encourages class participation and allows 2 absences, which is pretty standard. He really makes you think and wants you to understand the material, not just memorize information to spit it back out. May be switching my degree to Geo!

There is a lot of reading in this class, but it isn't anything that is hard. He will help you pass if you know your material. Not a hard class if that is what you all want to know. Very great lectures.

Make sure to read the textbook. He'll call on you randomly, but he shuffles papers to do so. All you have to do is comment, ask, or say anything about something covered in that lecture. If you don't like being called on, you could've written an essay about not wanting to be called. He's respectful, knows his stuff. Do not sleep in his class!

Professor Aubert is extremely knowledgeable on the subject and is very passionate. He does send out a lot of emails to update you on assignments. The exams are fair because he gives you a packet full of the questions that will be asked. The homework is very easy as well you just need to research a topic then write about it.

Thinks the internet will not work without google chrome. Youll see what I mean. Anyways, this class wasnt that bad, I thought it was pretty easy. The key to passing tests are knowing the quiz questions (unlimited attempts) and preparing the essay questions before tests (He gives them to you beforehand!) Easy class, great guy.

This is THE lab class to take. You have a lab every week, takes a few hours to complete. Thats it, just 3 hours a week. They are not hard at all, they kind of just take a long time. Directions are literally spelled out for you. You can have no understanding of the lecture content and easily get a 100% on a lab as long as you literally just try.

Professor Aubert has a very generous late policy. You can turn in assignments on the last day of class for a -30% max penalty. I would still recommend turning in as much on time as possible of course. Exams are open note and shorts essay questions are given beforehand. There is a project worth 16%. DO NOT leave this until the last minute!

Im going to miss Prof. A so much! 2nd class w him. Because of him, I can go on a hike and understand the rivers, mountains and weather! He is CLEAR, sends out kind, encouraging emails regularly. He will root for you. Gotta love a prof that has a kitten on his shoulder during zoom. Real quality person, theres a reason his class fills up so fast!!

Very easy going, gives a ton of ways to get extra credit. Gives exam boosts based on graded quizzes. You could pick up a physical copy of his own notes (I highly recommend), so I sometimes didn't even need to watch his lectures. Every week you do a quiz and a discussion. There's a few special assignments (sort of scavenger hunts). 4 exams in total.

At first his overly-thorough instructions felt condescending, later realized it's necessary for some lol! HE IS GREAT. Professor Aubert is the reason why I'm an Environmental Studies major. His explanations and use of in-class interactions are memorable and invaluable. Great style of teaching, effective communicator, and clearly informs students what will be on the exam. Wish all my professors taught like him!

He was awesome! I love how much passion he has for teaching Geography! I wouldn't say that the textbook is necessary but DO listen to his lectures and DO get the printed lectures!!! Way easier if you follow the notes and take notes on the lectures. Lots of information in a 4 week class but I have three kids and did it, so can you!

the only thing that went wrong was I did not sign up for the lab - and had to make up for it at UC. And now when I try to help someone get lab - there is none available at ARC. Learned alot and Professor makes you think about the world around you.

I could listen to his lectures for hours. Engaging lectures, open-ended discussion boards, basic quizzes and exams, and a unique homework assignment every few weeks which are fairly easy to do. The grading math he uses for quizzes and exams is a bit odd and complex, to me personally, but not a big deal. Informative and a good storyteller.

Don't pack ur things early he'll throw earsers at you . Joking, u'll know what i mean when u take his class . he's amazing

TAKE PROF AUBERT! It's on you if you don't receive an A. So many extra credit opportunities. Get the printed lecture notes to follow along on his lect videos. Vids are interesting. 4 total exams. 4 units, each unit has 5 mini quizzes+5 discussions(easy), 1 hw(4 total), and an exam at the end. Exam is based on mini quiz and lecture notes.

Professor Aubert genuinely cares about the success of his students. Super easy to reach, super understanding, accepts late assignments all the way until the last day of the semester. Attendance is pretty much mandatory, but he understands if you have to miss here and there. The canvas quizzes are word for word exam questions. An easy, fun class!

I really enjoyed Professor Aubert's class. I learned a lot because the material was very engaging. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. I myself unfortunately didn't do too many or I would've definitely received an A in his class. A lot of material was covered but he is always available if you don't understand anything.

This is the first positive review I've left on any of my professors. This guy is amazing, can't rate him highly enough. Actually cares for students, works with you to get you to do well, amazingly clear class. Cannot rate high enough!

One of the best professors I've had on campus, allows for a "cheat sheet" on exams, but if you don't do well there is a lot of extra credit to makeup for it. He will make you want to show up to class, his lectures were super engaging. Reasonable amounts of homework, I usually got an assignment done in 45 mins. You probably don't need the textbook

Not a lot of homework but 4 are mandatory to getting an A. There are 4 tests. You get a full sheet one-sided for notes for each exam. Lectures are very packed full of information. Don't miss class. He really wants everyone to succeed. Do the quizzes multiple times as those questions are on the exams.

Aubert is awesome! He's one of the few professors I wish I had taken in person purely because he seems like a cool guy. His online course is great, though; he makes the material easy to digest, his lectures are concise, the textbook is in no way necessary, and he's super knowledgeable and experienced in what he teaches.

Prof. Aubert is truly a goat. You can tell he actually wants you to succeed in his class. He gives out a ton of reminders and makes it known that he is available by zoom, phone, and even in person. I think of outside of teaching he is a really cool person and easy to talk to. Im really glad I got to be one of his students. 10/10 prof honestly!!!
