Everyone failed his class. he passed three people. need i say more. Awfull teacher..nice guy!

The worst teacher I've ever had!He is a disorganized mess and you can't understand a word he says because of his accents. His tests are impossible and he is a mean guy too.

He is the worst and hardest teacher I have ever had! He rushes through material, talks with a heavy accent and SERIOUSLY expect you to be studing for his class 3 hours a day. Very unreasonable with the work load. The tests are super hard!!!

I cannot stress to anyone thinking of taking his class, DONT DO IT! History is my minor and im not passing. I am a good student and have not passed one test (43,66). He is very hard to understand and writes unreadable notes on the board.

The worst teacher I ever HAD! He is horrible and un-clear. He is prejudice against people that are white. Un-fair grader of essays. and should not be a teacher or have any job that involves people or communication.

I can't understand a word hes saying. I got all D's on the tests and was above class average everytime. His tests are completely random questions that he doesnt go over. By the end of class the chalkboard looks like someone threw up on it.

Very hard teacher, bad accent, gives 4 HARD tests and only 20 pts of XC. I got a C in the class, the hardest C i have ever worked for. 1/2 the class dropped, most that stayed got C's, few B's.

This professor is absolutely horrible, his lectures are extremely boring. Current events were never discussed. California's Governor recall was never discussed. nice.

Very horrible professor, cannot speak English very well. Do not take his class if you want to pass or understand anything about the government. Mesa president should ask him to resign!

DO NOT take this teacher. Tough lectures, DOES NOT work with students and changes due dates on sylibus not in favor of his students. Just check his other ratings. Find someone else!! Otherwise complain to his mother, he doesn't listen to students.

Serioulsy the worst teacher I have ever had at Mesa. Horrible accent, unclear lectures, essay ?'s damn near impossible to get full credit. Why he's still teaching is beyond me.

Be wary of any prof that opens the class telling you that he will not report to the dean again. Does not return tests, only grades. Extremely unfriendly. Class is hard to follow or to prepare for.

I advise that no one enroll in his class. The way he lectures is unclear, and it isn't helpful that he writes just about everywhere (and over previous writing) on the board. Hard to follow. Has a temper problem. Study hard! Don't listen to him, it's too confusing! Take good notes from the text.

HORRIBLE! He actually yelled at me for complaining about him to the chair that he didn't tell class that a 12 page paper was due (even though I did a 4 page paper he wrote in the syllabus) Harsh grader & hard tests even if study hard. To mention again, he YELLED at me!!!

This teacher has been kicked out of many departments before landing in poly sci. He yelled at me for trying to add his class. Jerk.

"Please listen to your name.." Long story short, Avorh is trash. He rambles on for the whole hour and twenty minutes and to make matters worse, you can't even understand what he's saying because he has a heavy African accent. Don't fall asleep in his class because he'll nail you in the face with chalk. Bring headphones with you.

The worst teacher ever. I didn't even bother taking the final because I didn't understand a thing he was teaching. Veyr bad teacher. I went to Grossmont and re-took the class with a great professor. I loved Polical Science, just hate John Avohr who teaches at Mesa.

STAY far away. I promise you! He is a horrible teacher. Say no to Summer School with Avorh.

John Avorh Good GOD! Absolutely horrible! Never take him. I will say he is an intelligent man but CHRIST does not know how to teach. Right when he walks into class the first thing he says is "Please listen to your name" with his ghana accent. Do I reccomend him. NO! I purposely missed the final to get a "D" so i could retake the class...

The class average was about a 60%- which says a lot more about him than his students. Only take this teacher if you want don't want to learn anything and wish to fail Poli Sci 101. I read all of the chapters in the book, took all of his notes, studied my butt off, and still falled. John Avorh should do all his student a favor and never teach again!

Ah, Avohr. I graduated from Berkeley but still remember this guy years later as one of the worst ever. Gave me my only C in college. He threw erasers and chalk at people, scrawled on the board, and based his tests on info from his brain, not the textbook. Kathryn O'Connell at San Mateo College in the Bay Area is the only other prof this horrible.

I am currently taking this class, and I can truly say this is the worst professor I have ever had. He has extreme trouble communicating with students, as well as a terrible handwriting that cannot be read. He doesnt even pronounce anyones name correctly in the class!! I ADVISE YOU, Do not take this professor!! This guy is the worst!

I hated this teacher. I feel as if the class would have been fun if he taught us things that actually pertsined to our tests.

This professor is a joke, cant stand his attitude and how he treats the students. The tests arent hard if you understand the material but the multiple choice is def tricky sometimes! I like the course in general but Avorh is the WORST professor I have ever hard after attending 5 universities in the past 4 years! trust me, he is the WORST!

Please if you are considering taking this teacher DO NOT DO IT! I have never encountered a teacher this unclear, unhelpful, and flaky! Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this man as possible! It doesn't matter how hard you study and how much effort you put in, you will still only receive a C at the absolute highest. This guy is a horrible teacher. It doesn't matter how hard you study, how diligently you take notes on lecture, his tests don't cover anything in the book or on the lecture. to make things better, this guy is a complete **** and will not help a student under any circumstances. He is legitimately the worst teacher I've ever had in my life.

WORST CLASS EVER! I used to love politics, after taking this class I never want to study it again. No matter how hard I tried, getting a good grade is impossible. He is incredibly boring, I would rather go through dental surgery then go to his class. I don't think i have ever disliked as class as much as this one. He shouldn't be a teacher.

This teacher is THE reason why I started using Ratemyprof, and also why I will continue to use Ratemyprof for the rest of my life. I don't know how SDCCD still lets this teacher teach. I really can't understand how someone can teach and have every student fail, and not realize they are probably doing something incredibly wrong.

Take every single horrible review about this professor into consideration. He is terrible, no matter how hard you try realistically you wont earn anything over a C. Drop the class before its too late and you end up having to withdraw. You are saving yourself a lot of time and money if you get out of this class.

Avorah is a foreign teacher who does not accomodate the needs of the students. He is very disorganized and when asked what chapters of the textbook are on he simply says the ones we have gone over. His tests are insanely hard and very difficult to understand. Worst teacher ive had at Mesa. No participation, no accomodation, and insane testing.

Although clearly intelligent, Professor Avorh does not foster an environment in the classroom that is conducive to learning. In a class of 30 students fewer than 10 remained at the end of the semester. DROP THIS COURSE, I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH, He is condescending, does not let anyone get an "A" and does the bare minimum to keep his job.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR (AND WARN YOUR FRIENDS). Bad speaking skills and the penmanship of a hurried doctor are just the start to this nightmare of a class! Two-thirds of the students in my class dropped out, and nobody that stuck it out got an 'A'! Gives painfully hard tests and only offers one dissmul extra credit opportunity! DO NOT TAKE HIM!

As a student enthusiastic about politics I was very disappointed by this course.

In his 101 and 102 poli sci class right now and so far ive wanted to fall asleep during every lecture. Lectures all class, can barley understand him and his writing is not legible. Trying to take notes is a real struggle and when i try to study i dont understand them because he doesnt make thing clear. Dont switch into his class

This professor is one of the worst ive ever had so far. This is my first year in college and it has been the worst class ive taken. The professor is really strict and will not tolerate any kind of talking nay whispering. I literally just whispered one thing to the person next to me and he turned and stared down both of us and kicked us out.

Don't take this professor. I have never failed/ been afraid of failing before and I spent all semester long trying not to fail his course!

Incoherent and scattered lectures. Provides blanket statements for study guides, then tests on minute details that are often only briefly mentioned in lectures and cannot be found in book. Tests are poorly written and often difficult to understand. Unreasonably hard grader. Generally unhelpful and unforgiving.

Worst professor I've ever had. I'm an excellent test taker so I was happy my grade was only on 4 tests. Guess again. Test material is extremely specific, super vague study guide, covers nothing in lectures that will be on the test, and the expensive books are useless. I asked him to drop me, he refused and then gave me an F. I said gbye to my 4.0.

I haven't missed a class and I continue to fail tests. I can't understand a word he is saying and he doesn't post any grades online and his only form of lecture is scribbling words on the board every single class meeting.

It's amazing how this professor is even teaching, and please do NOT take this guy. He's a complete jerk, extremely biased, and doesn't care for the students. I asked him multiple times for assistance and he wouldn't be there during office hours. I spoke with chairman, and the dean of the department and they didn't do anything either. Stay away!

1,His handwriting is impossible to read but he has something against erasing the board, will just write over his writing in a different color. 2, Everyone in my class is failing, even the guy majoring in this field. 3,Going to all of his lectures won't help much because he doesn't talk about what is on the test. No idea how anyone could pass.

Where do I start?? You can hardly understand him because he has an accent. He lectures the entire time and you WILL NOT be able to read his whiteboard notes. Horrible! That was the worse part. I'm a political science major. About to earn my degree and transfer. Professor Avorh rushes through his class. He will enter, lecture, and leave -- that simple. You are given 4 tests, the english is very broken, and the answers don't make a lot of sense. Your 4 grades are kept on scratch paper. I was scored over 15% below what I got on a test.

Took this class because it was my major. After taking this class I have now changed my major. He has horrible handwriting skills, hard to understand, and your grade is completely based on test. The test are completely based on his lectures which is hard to take if you cannot understand what he is saying.

His lectures are absolutely crazy and unorganized. He puts nothing online and so you can only study off of what you've written (usually illegible) and what's in the book (which hardly makes sense). Only things he grades are the big tests (they're terribly hard) that HE DOESN'T GIVE STUDY GUIDES FOR. I should have dropped, my mistake.

His lectures are confusing and unorganized. When he "reviews" for the test it doesn't help at all, we spend about 5-10 mins reviewing! He made the students come to a class session before the final to "review," not only was he late but class was 5 mins long! Many things on the test are not covered in his expensive $300 books or confusing lectures.

Not a hard class, the professor is just very confusing and all over the place. He writes his lectures on a white board which you probably won't be able to read. But don't worry you also can't understand him because of his accent. Ans even if you do he only says things once so if you miss it your done.

This professor is one of the most ruthless men I've ever encountered. He told the class to never bring your kid(s) to class or I'll punch them in the face. He also said I don't care how you get your text books, if you have to break into the book store or rob the bank, do it. He writes sloppy and gives the worst lectures. Doesn't care for students!!
