Worst teacher I've had. Extremely rude.Does not provide clear guidelines for assignments. Does not provides any useful feedback on presentations.

This class is a waste of time. Half of the class you will be listening to solo orals the other half to group presentations. Final is a multiple choice question (dont rely on test banks!!)He is not a fair marker, if he nows your name and likes you, will give you a good grade in the solo and group presentation. Assignments are not graded by him.

From a student's perspective, I don't think he is a qualified professor. First, to be a professor at university, one must have a phD. I don't think he has it. Second, his arrogant attitude has cause a lot of students mad. He doesn't grade fairly. That is proven by the majority of the class. He is one who has double face.

I don't know what makes him think his class is interesting. I really want to ask which part of the class is interesting. Oral presentation, written project, or contents of the class. None.

I don't think it is appropriate that a professor sitting on the table and feet on the chair during lecturing. I have seen it twice in this class, and that is the only professor in the University that I know does this. It is very disrespectful to students. He doesn't erase blackboard and always ask students to do it for him. He has behavior issues

The class is meaningless. Lecture contents are not tested in the final exam. The instructor always writes on blackboard: 1.thoughts 2.oral presentations He doesn't teach anything. He just makes easy money every semester. I would not recommend to anyone.

He posted so many unrelated notes on Moodle. For example, his board meeting minutes, which had nothing do with the class at all. I think he just wants to make his lifer easier by making students' life harder. I would not recommend to anyone and urge removal of the course from the course curriculum. This dude puts some good words about himself every once a while. But I can easily tell if the comment is from himself or someone else. All instructors seem to give low grade without legitimate reasons. John Aylen doesn't have a PhD to quality him to teach in University. How did you get this job John? Through your so called internal connections?

He is lazy. spent 3 months on oral presentations without teaching anything. All he did is to sit back there marking presentations which he doesn't know how to explain. He graded in what ways he wants. Some hard work presentations got C while someone got B+ by playing YouTube videos. If he can't answer your questions, He will say "I need to check"

Some high rating comments are actually by himself. He admitted he checks this site from time to time. I was lured to his class by some of the comments and rating. Once I started, I realized something went wrong in the class. He doesn't grade fairly and talks about thoughts. One more thing, Why using cell phones annoys you? Is that your business?

He doesn't follow course outline to teach, and he doesn't follow grading outline to grade. His marking is based on his subjective decision. He sit on the desk and had his feet on the chair. Disrespectful to students. Asking students to erase blackboard for him every time. Very pathetic experience with him

His lecture is not interesting at all. Only he thinks it is interesting. Externally, He is old and fat talking about his life. Internally, He is arrogant. How can he be funny? Does it make sense?

He doesn't know how to teach. The is already proved by most comments. And, He couldn't get a job elsewhere. That is why he teaches at the University. I have read his book to know his knowledge about business. It turns out he doesn't even know tax law. How can anyone expect to learn anything from him about business communication

Not easy, Not helpful, Not clear, Not interesting, Not too much use of text book, and certainly Not hot. For these, you get 0.1 out of 10. I don't have time to explain reasons. Go read the grading outline yourself, John.

Can you tell me who is marking solo written assignment, and how an assignment is evaluated. I have a sense that the marker just wants to mark all assignments as soon as possible so that he / she can get paid. This kind of closed door conspiracy is already known. Any course that has TA or marker to mark assignments will lead to a low overall grade because they have no idea how to mark. All this is to make instructor's life easier. COMM 212 is a typical example of this conspiracy that is determined by a meeting behind a door. There is no chance to appeal and to learn mistakes. Subjective and Lazy.

Nice and funny guy, but didn't help, useless emails, VERY HARD MARKER, his classes have the lowest average. I don't recommend him AT ALL.

0.5 out of 10 is too high for him. 0.1 out of 10 is how much he is worth. Stupid presentations took 3 months during which he didn't teach anything but sitting there grading. And grading is subjective and not based on grading sheet. He even admitted himself. His emails contain only 1 line telling your mark, no more detail. Money and time wasted.

Having one or two students posting positive feedback is not real reflection of this teacher. Of course, he is nice this semester because of the feedback from last semester. Again, He doesn't have a PhD to qualify as a instructor. And he doesn't have eloquent experience in business either. This is confirmed from his book.

For those of you who don't know how grading system works. There is a normal distribution every year. You will learn this in COMM 215. There is only a small amount of students who can get A. So this allows the instructor to play around to decide whom he likes most. Perhaps, some kids are on his positive side. It doesn't mean he is a nice person.

Of course, he would be nice this semester because he got so bad rating last semester. This doesn't approve him being a nice instructor. As time goes on, his attitude will come back again and burn other students. Don't let these comments fool you. Choose your instructor wisely.

It has happened many time he asked site admin to remove negative comments and keep positive ones. Don't fooled by this guy. He had way way way more negative comments than meet your eyes

I seriously didn't know what he was teaching in this course during the entire semester. He always talked about useless, irrelevant issues. never said anything in regard to exams. Why such a person still teaches?

I believe that this class is not useful. This teacher is not terrible, but I believe that his teaching is not good. I spend a lot of hours studying, but on the final exam I realized that my time was wasted. I do not recommend him. Maybe the class was boring, but I believe that the teacher should give more information during the semester

Today's marketing is about BIG DATA. Why such a useless course still exist at Concordia. It is even worse with this instructor. You are outdated already by half century.

Very weird individual. And tricky teacher. Systematically worst teacher ever. He doesn't know what is he teaching. Avoid at all cost. Concordia University does not have other teacher for this class but you have to avoid it at all cost. Waste of your money and time unfortunately.

This teacher would do anything to inflate students grade, just by being nice to them in order to blind students of what is really going on. Why Concordia University hires such teachers. Avoid at all costs! This marketing teacher is a scam. You as a student don't want to be spoiled in his class.

DON'T FORGET it's a marketing class, so this teacher knows how to play his MANTRA. Don't fall for when people here says the class was fun. That's pure marketing. BEYOND useless! does not help students what so ever, students asked him questions and half the time he would not know the answer or give them the wrong answer. does not teach. went to another class before the exam learned more from that one class than all semester and this is from someone who went to all his useless classes. crazy me. Awful teacher. He spends her time reading off powerpoints, or worse, reading off 9Gag Canadian cliche or showing you the pictures of her trip to Japan. He gives random grades (e.g. C- for a presentation because 1/5 members stumbled upon his words, since he's a non-native english speaker). AVOID him!

John Aylen may have talents we do not know about, but teaching is NOT one of them. I don't want to discriminate elderly teachers, because age can translate to skill. Once again, not the case for John Aylen. Professor Aylen is nothing short of incompetent while lecturing and while grading, and does not explain anything clearly. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Nice guy and seems to want to be a good professor, but unfortunately that isn't the case (at least not anymore). Lectures are completely useless and don't prepare you for any coursework - the only reason to go is for attendance. You might have a hard time studying because there is little to no "real" content. It's all filler. Very boring class :/

Do not take him. Grading is very random and he does not teach. Content is easy yet you will probably still get a bad grade due to how he grades. He seems nice but as a teacher I suggest you avoid him. The grade you get probably just depends on his mood of the day.
