I took the lab for University Physics II with Calculus. The labs are fun, relevant, and involving. Remember to write up your labs clearly, and well. Listen to his requirements, and write up your labs well and you will do well.

He is awesome, class is not a breeze but not veru hard either he will help you as much as you need his exams are not as hard as he will make them sound but do study! because if he tries to help you and notice you have no idea he will loose interest in helping you.

Physics for me is one of the hardest subjects that I have taken,is hard to understand and it requires a basic knowledge about science and math.With Prof Barry's help you will learn Physics if you do homework and attend class-very important.He will help you with every doubt you have and will put time and effort on it.I really recommend this teacher.

Professor Barry puts a lot of effort into making the class and labs worth your while. He is pretty attuned to the students' grasp (or lack) of the subject and tailors the lectures to the overall classroom's level of understanding. Overall, a good guy and a good class.

Dr. Barry is very scatterbrain. He is always all over the place, but I actually enjoyed being in his class. He helps as best he can and he is more into you DOING the actual lab and participating rather than grading. He is pretty lenient and is a pretty good teacher.

This class was the most interesting class I have had in college. The professor brings years of knowledge on the subject matter and explains everything so well in detail. I have had other teachers for physics, but he is by far the best. He communicates better than most, and he allows for class interaction. I definitely recommend this prof.

This professor is very cool, once you can solve his tutorials you are garanted an A, he is very helpful on individual bases. If you fail any of his Physics Class then you need to review yourself. He even sovle questiions that you will see in your exam. I recommend him to all, this is a must take professor for any physics section.

He's usually nice but gets cranky sometimes(ruined my day once or twice).Doesn't prepare for lectures, or write his own test, so he is VERY OUT OF TOUCH with how to teach the course.I work hard but am not good at math, my test scores were always at the bottom of the class. Mr.Barry is an excellent professor who truly devotes in students' learning with a caring heart.I loved this professor, and also greatly enjoyed Astronomy class which I haven't took at all before. We even ended up going to a field trip to Brazos Bend State Park to view telescope. It was such an interesting experience.Certainly recommend this class!!

I have rarely encountered professors who took such a deep personal interest in their students, and I could sense that he genuinely cared about my understanding and success in his class. I highly recommend this professor because I don?t think I could have passed this class otherwise! He grades very leniently and prepares you well for test!

I took him for Astronomy and enjoyed his class very much. As a person, he's interesting and comical. During his teaching, there are times when he cuts off in mid sentence and stares into space for a moment, and it's pretty funny. His tests are long-ish, but they grew shorter as the year progressed. I made a B in his class so I think it went well =)

Prof. Barry is a very good teacher.His teaching style is great.he also makes sure that everybody understands the topic.He cracks some jokes from time to time and that makes the class not oring at all.His tests are not necessary difficult but you have to do a little bit of studying.Overall,he is a great teacher and i will highly recommend him.

Prof. Barry is great at explaining things in terms you can understand without a masters in physics. He's more than willing to answer questions regarding homework & even other physics related questions. He helped me with questions I had while studying for my MCAT. As long as you pay attention in class, take notes, and try...you will get an A. :D

Professor Barry is possibly the best professor I've had to date. He is very easy to talk with, is always open to having class discussions, and answers any questions you may have come up! He is super nice &will help his students make a good grade& Easy A!I took him for lab &all u have to do is show up,do the lab,answer the questions on it& do a lab report which consists of a small intro &summary.Basicaly its like a completion grade &as long as u do everything &show up for class everyday u get an A!Also the more labs u do the better!

ei im a junior/senior student and imma brake it down for u all.. he cares abt students.. he is understandable.. his hwks are used in ur tests.. so do hwks.. listen to lectures.. he uses d book to give u gus hwk problems.. work around due dates.. if he sees class is not ready for a test he changes the date.. he is just cool abt everything

Prof Barry is one of the best at HCCS. He is nice/intelligent Prof who is an expert in Physics. He uses familiar examples to make you understand physics, even if you are a novice. He teaches with great skill. Get the physics book, go to class, pay attention, do your home work and Lab. You will enjoy his class and guaranteed to make an "A" in Physc.

I have never seen such a bright and mindful professor in my life. He can sometimes be irrogant to some extent i he is in a bad mood, but CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS! If you love Physics and Astronomy, then this is the professor for you. Easy A or B if you know the material. His tests are open-book, even so his syllabus states it is close-book lol.

I came to this class with a very closed mind, talk about an influential guy that will make you think on a broader spectrum. Prof Barry as far as teaching goes is a must have best class Ive taken tests are easy and open book or take home. He understands this is not your 4yr degree yet its only prereq's. Do the work and pass his class easy as that!

His class was super fun, but with that being said you still have to study a good bit in order to pass his tests. They're always mc and some short answer. He made the subject interesting though. I would definitely recommend him. Wasn't an extremely easy A, but still an A.

I strongly recommend professor Barry! His an amazing professor, Most of his tests are take home and the class is interesting and easy if you make the effort to show up..he takes notebook grades for taking notes in class, gives bonuses for attending to watch the movies..and his buddy Mike is hilarious, who randomly walks in class sometimes!

Professor Barry is awesome. I'm down right horrible a math, which made physics a struggle for me. He allowed us to do take home tests and quizes which saved my grade. He encourages group work. He is very disorganized though. He is always on there and on time, so be there he pays attention to that. If u need xtra help he is willing to work with you.

3 tests: all open notes, one of them is a take home test, and we can use textbook on the final. No homework!! just take notes during his lecture and during the movies. Very easy. prof. barry is a nice and laid back person.

John Barry really cares about his students and will try his best to make sure you get something out of the class. There are very few decent teachers for physics at HCC and Barry is for sure the best one. If you insist on taking University Physics at HCC, I would definitively take it with him.

first off, he can't teach well. he reads on from the textbook and more so, does many mistakes with problems. A lot of time is needed for this class. don't recommend him

Took him in summer. Great person; knowledgeable, funny, kind, lovely & caring. Tests are easy and open-book. Grades fairly. Ask for help & he'll be there. Physics is hard, he simplifies it. Respect him & behave in his class because: 1-he deserves it; 2-he'll respect you back. And don't get offended by his tone. Do homework & lab reports, get an A.

Lectures were all off the book and he didn't really provide notes. Tests were all open booknotes. Final exam was not cumulative. Homework and labs could be turned in anytime. Overall, he's a decent professor with a nice sense of humor and is caring. Really flexible. A little disorganized, but not bad.

Great and hilarious, but most importantly there for you. He may seem disorganized and stressed at times (mainly due to having too many courses to teach) but he will do his best to help u. Physics is a tough course but I made an A in both by doing the assigned homework. Awesome professor!

You're guaranteed to get an 'A' in Professor Barry's class so long as you actually show up in class and actually pay good attention. I got my grade simply because I didn't. Highly recommended excellent professor.

One of the best professors I've ever taken. Very helpful and knowledgeable man. Can read the room and understands when monotony sets in during a 3 hour lecture. He understands how to teach and does it very well. He has an actual personality which I found engaging while others found it to be rude. He can be sarcastic but never rude. Very respectful.

I had to retake this course. The first time, I found 2325 very challenging. However, when I took it with John Barry, i finally understood the course. I ended up making great grades on the exams. He does not give much HW, and the exams are very basic. He is easy, but I learned so much from him. Sometimes he can be very rude, so be careful.

He is a great professor! yes he is a little unorganized but he manged through it lol. his tests (3) are open book, did labs at the end of the semester. He gives you good feedback and let you resubmit your labs if you want to.

Prof. Barry is amazing! He cares about his students, but you'll need to work hard if you want an A! Do WELL IN THE EXAMS because they're worth 70-80% of the total grade!!! The exams are open notes, but even with that you'll need to know conceptual physics. The problems are easier than the ones listed in HW, but they're numerous so manage your time.

Professor Barry had a really enjoyable lab class. He answers questions clearly and handles the labs efficiently. He has concise grading criteria for his labs which I like, and he was flexible with due dates. I'd take him again. Just participate and in labs and don't miss class, and you'll be fine.

Prof Barry is a good professor. His lectures can be slow and sometimes put you to sleep but he generally cares about his students. He does not always answer to emails though and can be hard to contact. Tests dont always relate to his lectures so make sure to read through the chapter after class and you will pass with an A

Very nice professor. However, I found his lectures too theoretical. The tests had a lot of questions, but they were pretty easy. Tests are also with open book and notes. Also a lot of extra credit opportunities. An A is very doable when putting in some work.

Barry is excellent professor. He will not solve any problems on the board, but by now, you should be capable of that. He will make sure you understand the concepts for everything he teaches and is there to help anytime you need him. Students dont respect him, because, well they are kids.

I had this class over the summer. He is respectful and funny. If you don't understand the subject he explains it again. He does solve problems in class and he is open to questions. Tests are open notes but you need to study and understand the concept otherwise you won't pass. He cares about his students and he wants you to learn concept of physics.

This professor can come across as difficult at first, but he is very caring once you grow to understand him. His test are difficult, and requires major studying, but the other assignments are okay. You can not access him by email which makes things difficult, but if he see that you are trying you will pass his class with a decent grade.

Professor Barry is a really knowledgeable professor. He cares about all his students. He knows all the theory and the material. By the way, the homework is not heavy. If you dont work hard and only expect to get a better grades, it is your own problem. I like professor Barry.

Course was online for the first month or so, which was chaotic. It got a lot better in person. I would highly recommend going to every class and sit in the first few rows. He gives students his phone number so that you can text him with any questions. Pray that you get a good group for lab.

Just listen to what he says and ask questions and you'll do fine. HIs assignments aren't that hard either. He is really chill and it is an easy A if you study the material and don't slack off. Chill professor

Class was absolutely easy! Professor Barry's material and instruction was all clear and as long as you did the Pearson reviews and homework, it's an easy A. Take notes. If you don't you will miss a ton.

Very nice professor. Unfortunately he is not very good with technology and is very slow at grading things. He is a strict grader but will let you correct and resubmit labs as many times as you need. As long as you show him you are making an effort, you will end the semester with an A.

STUDENTS TAKING PHYSICS LAB - Honestly, there is just no way you dont get an A. Just do the reports, show up on time and complete the labs. If this is done you get an A, however if you take him for PHYSICS LECTURES I heard he is not good, take Mark Bouwens or Todd Zapata for a A.

very relaxing teacher. I didn't do well because life got in the way but everything about him is amazing. he lectures can be a snooze fest but it's like listening to a live podcast. his grading style sounds hard but it's really simple. just keep up with the work and test he's always open to any late work so no stress.

He's great. Class can get sleepy 5 minutes in, but he's alright. He's caring, he won't fail anyone unless you do absolutely nothing. Put in the bare minimum literally, come to class, do the homework, do the extra credits and even if you get 20 on the exams you can make it back on the extra credit
