Beattie is nice, however, he tries to be your friend more then he actually teaches. At the end of the semester I learned more about his son's birthday and his old high school then about SPED. Overall, he's a decent guy.

AWESOME CLASS! Very easy, just go to class everyday. Very little work outside of class. Test are easy, final is optional, attendence is not required. You don't need to study much for this class, maybe an hour each night before the test. Gives a study guide, post grades quickly. No complaints at all!

Yes take Beattie. He gives answers to test questions on days a lot of students don't show up for class. The quizzes are easy! Don't waste money on new edition of book, last years will work fine! Lots of great stories during class and soo funny.

This class was sooooo easy! He is such a great guy!! Makes the class fun! A lot of quizzes, but on small amounts of material, plus gives you a study guide of what will exactly be on the test! If you love SPED or even if you are just looking for credit hours, this is the guy to take!!

easy class, dont bother buying the book, you'll learn everything you need to know i class. Go to class and you'll get some kind of extra credit on the next quiz or answers to it. YOU will have to do 5 hours of special education classroom observation. Great guy overall.

I know that this professor has his own fan club, but I must admit that I really didn't like this class. Actually, I thought it was incredibly boring. All the material in the entire class could be covered in a month or less. He did not seem at all energetic to me, but kind of dull. The quizzes are decently easy, but you have to study!

This was an ok class. The material was easy, but I still could never pull a B on a test because of the Mult Choice questions. Also, he requires you to do a proj volunteering 5hrs in a school. It's good if you have free time outside of class that you don't mind driving somewhere and volunteering that long. If so, then it'll b easy for you.

I had John Beattie when I was in Grad school and also worked for his tutoring company ABC Tutoring. He is a very caring Professor, and has some great stories. Ask him what position he played in Football at UVa? haha Oh man I love that story!

Dr. Beattie is wonderful! He does an amazing job teaching you about his passion. He has powerpoints to go along w/ his lectures. You do have to do clinical hours in a special education classroom, but only like 3 hours and it is well worth! Be sure to take his class!!

This was definitely one of my favorite classes! Although attendance is not mandatory, I enjoyed coming to this class. There are no tests- only 8 quizzes, required 5 hours of observation time, and the final is optional (if you need extra points). Overall, this is a great class and you couldn't get a better teacher!

Great class and professor! As long as you go to class you will get an A on all the quizzes there are no tests. Final exam is optional, so if it'll help your grade you can take it. I rarely used my textbook but it might have been helpful to use it a little more.

One of the best professors I've had at UNCC so far. His Moodle quizzes come straight from his textbook, he gives silly trivia quiz questions about his life he uses on the quizzes to people who show up for class. In class quizzes are a breeze, notes are easy to take so studying is very simple.

There are only 5 of them and the class before he will give you a study guide in class. 10 hours in a classroom clinical is required, but enjoyable and easy. Bring him canned goods? Extra credit. Dr. Beattie is passionate about what he does. He wants his students to do well and learn. His biggest goal is for people to walk away appreciating people with special needs. If you attend class, you should do well. His class is lecture but there are 200 people in the class. He is very funny and is able to hold your attention for a large class.

There are online quizzes each week but are super easy. The final is optional. The clinical hours and paper is a majority of your grade but if this is in your major then it is very interesting. He is veryour dry but is sometimes funny.

Easiest class I've ever taken in my life. Easier than just about any high school class you could imagine. No exams or final, 10 online quizzes ( answer was "a" to every single question) 5 in class quizzes only difficult if you don't show up & somewhat listen to what he says, and some clinical hours. Easy GPA booster if you need an elective.

Super laid back, can talk about practically anything. He is clear and loves to talk about his family (some quiz questions are about his family). He goes over the quiz the class before you take it and is very patient. Probably the best professor I will ever have!!

Dr. Beattie's goal is for you to learn about children with specials needs. There are A LOT of people in this class so it is lecture. He is pretty entertaining in relation to college classes. The class is designed to get an A if you attend and give forth any effort. He doesn't try to trick you it is just a class to learn about special education

Prof. Beattie is my fav. prof. at UNCC. He is passionate about special education and the way he dresses. If you show up and take good notes you will have no problem passing. He will give out extra credit on random days and it tends to be when people skip class. Honestly if you don't pass his class with an A, you should reconsider your major.

Very laid back and caring professor. I missed a question on a quiz and emailed him a quote from the article and why I answered the way I did. He emailed me the next day thanking me for reviewing the quiz and article in detail and awarded me the points. Come to class, have a good attitude, participate and you should easily make an A.
