I thought Bell was great! Okay, the assignments aren't exactly pushovers, but the students who try defiitely learn something, and that's what we're there for, right? Lots of second chances and extra credit ops, allows one no-penalty late essay. I ended up taking 301 with him, because he was good.

WIERD GUY, EASY CLASS!

I liked this teacher even though he did make lame jokes sometimes. He was nice and very helpful. As far as the person who said he is anal about spelling and grammar....this is an ENGLISH class! Anyway, I had a hard time with a couple of my papers, and with his help I got an A. He's very laid back guy.

He goes on a lot of tangents, and you find yourself talking about absolutely nothing of importance. He doesn't teach a lot of material, but is a hard grader. I never got higher than a B and I got the highest grades on the essays...

Very approachable. Really nice guy. willing to help you out one on one if you bother to ask. yes, you have to THINK in order to get a good grade in this class. It's called college. You will get a good grade if you put in the effort.

He might actually teach you something! Take his class to learn, not breeze by. Recommended highly.

Very helpful and gives lots of extra credit as long as you do required work as well. Interesting class. We talked about many different topics.

Prof Bell has quizzes almost every class, which are based on the assigned reading from the previous class. The class is easy if you do the homework and at least attempt to B.S. the essays. I haven't taken an english class in 6 years and I don't think I learned anything in this class.

Professor Bell is a nice teacher. I mean he does gives pop quizzes almost all the time. but they are really simple and if you do your homework then you will surely pass. He makes some pretty funny jokes, it looks like he trys to be funny. But other then that this class was helpful and i really liked the Professor. He is understanding and will help

A fun teacher who offers a lot of chance for nice discussion. But he is an incredibly hard grader. Even with WAC, I haven't managed to get more than a B on my papers. He also makes you keep a journal which I thought was okay, but didn't offer enough topic leniency. Good teacher if you want a challenge, not an easy A.

JUST ANOTHER ENGLISH CLASS VERY EASY IF YOU DO ALL WORK AND ATTEND CLASS, class was at 6 am! BELL IS A GOOD TEACHER, his grading wasnt too bad, papers need to be constructed properly doing that youll get a good grade... i would take him again

Thinks he's funny and isn't. Pompous and condescending. Accomplished, intelligent, and wants EVERYONE to know it.

He is a very good teacher. He's a tough grader but gives you great feedback and has interesting assignments and class discussions. If you want to learn, he gives you every opportunity.

I think people are being a bit rough on Prof. Bell. It's true that he is a tough grader but I enjoy his class. Some of his jokes fall flat but I laugh a lot in his class, I think it's a matter of understanding what he's joking about. I don't feel like he taught me much, but I have learned a lot from the readings and discussions.

As someone who is probably overconfident in my writing ability, even I found his grading of essays rather harsh. He provides opportunities to rewrite though: your essay grades will improve if you take his feedback seriously and get used to his foibles. Most of the readings were interesting & educational. Cynical sense of humor, rambles at times.

Nothing special about this teacher . He is average, dull and does the same thing every day. He has us read chapters every night and we take the quiz on it the next day. We get in groups and talk about the story or essay and that's it. The same thing all the time .

I'm not sure why everybody is picking on Bell for sticking to his attendance policy, but whateves... I thought he was a great teacher, a little odd, but he made the class discussions fun and chose good reading material.I had more fun is his class than in any other. However, this is not an easy class! He is hard grader, I worked VERY hard for my A.

He is a hard grader on essays, which is probably why he has a low score. Don't be mistaken - Bell is an excellent teacher. He's energetic, informative, and very helpful if you talk to him. He's also reasonable. If you get a bad essay, he lets you redo it. He'll give you grace on due dates sometimes. Just make sure to read the assigned stories.

Maybe it's because I took 300 and 302 (Writing) that I didn't feel the class was so daunting. Regardless, World lit has to be one of the toughest classes just based on sheer volume of reading alone. I found his grading to be fair, and his lectures engaging, even if I didn't agree with everything he said. Easy professors don't build great students.

Professor Bell is a great teacher. Sure, he is a hard grader but I think it's because he's trying to build good students. He is trying to get you used to writing better because if you transfer to a 4 year college, they aren't going to let you get away with mediocre papers.

Loved this class and Bell! His humor was a bit wacky, but funny if you understand sarcasm. It was easy, all you had to do was read and take quizzes, not rocket science. The grading was a bit tough on essays, but you could revise them, and the subjects were good; if you took 300 seriously, this was an easy 'A'. I got 'A's on essays, it is possible!!

Sure, Bell is a hard grader but if you wanted mediocre take remedial english. He doesn't hold your hand or baby you. He builds good writers. Doesn't give more than a B on essays but well worth it if you really want to build your skills.

Bell was a good professor. He uses D2L a lot and constantly offers extra credit. He's helpful, but can easily get off topic in class. Fire In The Ashes is a good read and you have homework but it's easy. He is clear on essays and due dates.

Total of 3 essays. He is a tough grader who expects you to know grammar and sentence structure. He marks your essay up like crazy and puts vague comments of recommendations. He helps you if you ask. Overall he was pretty cool.

Enjoyed this class the essay outlines are clear and peer edit is easy to get through and if you ever need help he responds to email quick and has office hours and will help you in anything you need help for in his class has a bit of a dark humour so if your easily offended try dealing with it or don't take the class

Bell is kind of an absent minded professor and gives lectures that go on tangents, but despite those two things, he is ONE OF MY FAVORITES at ARC. He is inspiring, knows a lot about the writing process, encourages his students equally and used one of the best textbooks that I have ever seen. He is also very kind and respectful of students.

If you are looking for an easy "A," take a different class. If you are passionate about writing, the "B " you get will be invaluable. Professor Bell is a solid professor; he really cares about his students. If you don't come to class or don't turn your homework in you will fail. If you are ready to learn Professor Bell will be there for you!

Professor Bell teaches in a way that subtly allows you to access the authentic writer within. Before you know it, you have not only learned to be a better writer, but where your writing is coming from, as well.

Prof. Bell is a really good teacher. He gives a lot of group exercises to do in class, which really assists people that need the extra help. I am not that good of a writer, but I was able to get an "A" on every essay and quiz. All you have to do is read the textbook to pass the quizzes. And for the essays, ask people in your group for help.

First year of college, made it seem very easy, thanks to this professor, grateful for tasking this class.

Professor Bell is a strict, but a great Professor. As long as you come to class and do all of your homework you will pass the class. You will also become a good writer. He does give homework for every class and you will write essays. There is no make up work. I received a B+ in the class, but would have got an A if I didn't miss two days of class.

Professor Bell is an amazing teacher A little old fashioned maybe but very understanding. He clearly lays out what is expected of you gives a very detailed syllabus and class activity calendar. I only had to buy two books that cost me like 30$ on amazon and they were easy to read. I will be taking him again.

He is a very nice professor, even though a little tough on grading, overall still very lenient. Very flexible, gives you extra time to finish assignments. Does provide enough extra credit assignments.

Very easy class, most of the homework is based on chapter-by-chapter readings. Some are due in class or before. Doesn't take a role after the first few weeks but everything we do in class is graded so if you want extra points I would show up. Boring lectures but I honestly just go on my phone or listen to music if I don't feel like listening.
