Bell has a test-out option on his class, although his pre-test is insane. If you feel like you have a solid background in Biology, Chemistry, Stats, and physiology, I would recommend studying for this pretest. If you score a 90% on it he gives you an A, no questions asked. Try to get his study material on blackboard.

Dr. Bell has a good combination of knowledge and teaching ability. He can answer questions with detail if you want him to, but he knows how to teach simply. He doesn't waste time in class with unnecessary trivia, which I found helpful. He calculates grades five different ways and you get the best one. Easy A as long as you do the work.

Dr Bell is great. To do well on the assessments and exams, do the reading and regularly attend a TA office hour. They will let you know exactly what is required of you. The class is interesting, Dr. Bell will help you out. He grades you in 5 ways then gives you highest of the 5. One is a 100% final test, that's what I did. It got me the grade

Dr. Bell is definitely one of the best professors at BYU. Incredibly helpful and genuine. Very intelligent, and explains the material clearly. Honestly cares about each student. Also very approachable. I learned a lot in this class.

Dr. Bell Was an Amazing Professor! He made class not only interesting, but fun. Dr. Bell made me love learning about biology and I saw my progression overtime. I feel like I learned a ton in this class and I have felt well prepared for the final. He does well at explaining things, and is able to keep you interested.

Dr. Bell is a great teacer. The 5 grade system he uses is a little bit deceptive because ultimately most of your grade will depend on the final, so don't choke on that. Attend "Homework with Dr. Bell," and you'll be able to get 100s on Friday Assessments. He always wants to help you out, and is one of the nicest professors I've had.

Dr. Bell was amazing! I took his PdBio 120 class Fall of 2010. Dr. Bell is very clear about what he expects from the class. Tests and quizzes can be challenging, but they are not impossible. Dr. Bell also calculates your grade in several different ways, and then gives you the highest. If he's teaching PdBio 120, take Bell!

Dr. Bell is an amazing teacher. There are exams every Friday and that makes it so much easier to do well! They are cumulative so it keeps all the information fresh in your head for the final. Also, there aren't that many homework assignments, but the ones that you have are not busy work. They are designed to help - and it works. Amazing professor!

Honestly, this dude is a great teacher. There's little hw, and there are tests every friday, but it helps you learn and prepare for the final really well. He's easy to understand, and its easy to find individual help from him or the other TAs. Take from this guy definitely.

Dr. Bell is an amazing professor. He cares about the students more than any professor I have ever seen. His class is super easy. You take a test every Friday in class but the tests are easy. I only missed four questions total on the ten tests combined. Easy class, great professor.

I love Dr. Bell, his entire goal in this class is to make every person great at biology and to love it too. His tests can be tricky but you come out of the class knowing more than you can imagine. Only take from him.

Take from him! He offers six grading options and gives you the one with the highest grade! This really helped me. You have Fri. assessments weekly, but it does help you retain information for the final. Also, no midterm! He really cares for his students and wants you to do well. This class wasn't super easy but not terrible either.

While this class was annoying because you took a test every Friday, it was worth it in the end. The final was way nice because you remembered everything! Dr. Bell is a really great professor, and you are super blessed to take a class from him... DO IT!!!

This class is tough, but Dr. Bell manages to make the material fun and interesting. There is an in class test every Friday (about 10 questions) and they're brutal. The TA review sessions will save your life.

Dr. Bell is a great guy and teacher. He really cares and wants you to succeed! However, possibly because it as the first time teaching this class, I don't think that he really explained the science material well and the tests were really hard and off-topic as a result.

This class is awesome. Dr. Bell and Dr. Dean are so helpful and kind. The class is more about you learning than about a grade. He really works with you to be able to give you the best grade possible. You can drop bad test scores. The tests are tough, but there are plenty of review opportunities to get assistance. There is a fun10 page final paper.

Dr. Bell is the flipping man. He is such a great teacher and makes extremely boring subjects like science seem fun and exciting. He loves to get the class involved and participating and he did a lot of cool experiments in class. He sincerely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He's all about making sure everyone understands. Great!!

Would take again

I took his Astronomy course. Professor Bell makes loving science easy for anyone and everyone. His lectures keep you engaged and his humor keeps you on your toes. Reading each chapter from the book takes maybe 20-30 minutes max and you get two tries on the quizzes. It is harder to fail this class than it is to pass. Enjoy it.
