Blackburn has an awesome teaching style. He's funny, witty, and very helpful. The only thing is that your grade is dependent exclusively on the final, which is 2 essay questions that tie into very specific laws and/or case precedents, so 90% of the stuff you learn, you are never tested on. Fun teacher, fun class; just pray you get a good final.

Where attendance is useful: He spends 10 weeks training you how to think and how to read the law, or, specifically, how to study for the one exam you will take to get your final grade. The answer: "Whether" -- if you see WHETHER, just add that to your OUTLINE (start this early). Each law has a test & these legal "tests" are preceded by whether.

He's okay. Tends to ramble in lecture. Make sure you read and understand the book. Grades consisted only of two midterms, which can be tricky, and an optional final. The final can only help in that it will replace any and all scores you did better on it than both midterms. I got a B on both midterms, but got an A on the final and for the course.

Blackburn is by far the most entertaining and cooky professor I've had at Ohio State. We had two exams and an optional final. All were pretty tough but you can get by pretty well if you study his textbook. His lectures are a treat. Don't be afraid to ask about some of his questions/answers on exams, he gave our class back points for doing so.

Didn't find the lecture helpful. He doesn't really talk about things that were exam related. Mainly talks about his opinions on law but test questions that were worded archaically and very standardized test like. I was one question away from a half a letter grade up. Going over test questions in class doesn't really help, I'd recommend office hours
