The easiest Government class you will have anywhere in the Houston area. He is very sweet and makes Government interesting. EASY A!!!

I liked him so much I took him again. If you study your notes the test is exactly like them. Sometimes the questions are even worded the same way as he said them in class.

At first he may seem a little goofy, but that's just one way he's such a good teacher! His enthusiasm and love for government make this class as enjoyable as government can be!

Dr. Bolen is fast paced and clear. His lectures are to the point, organized, and at times, very entertaining. His tests are 70% lecture, 30% key terms from the book. Took me about an hour or two to study for his tests. I made an 88 in the class.

Excellent instructor. He is definately a lecture teacher but he is interesting. I am learning alot and enjoying his class as well.

You must go to class and take notes to do well on the tests. But it's not that hard and he's a good teacher!

took him in winter mini, fairly easy teacher. went by real fast. and its true, "uhhhhhhh" first 2 tests aren't as easy as the last 2. tests on lectures, take lots of notes, and vocabs

i took him for both govt and he is easy. all you have to do is take notes and look at the bold face terms in the text. and when you take notes he tells you if you need to know it or not. if you plan to miss class though, don't take him. he makes govt interesting in a suprising way.

Energetic for an old guy. He is awsome tho, i just sleep and write down the notes when he tells me that they ARE going to be on the test. hes funny at times, and also a big astro fan. Didn't feel like taking govt, but now bolen makes it seem really fun.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING instructor. Very intelligent but doesn't try to impress you with what he knows. Lecture course, but the best lecture course I have ever had. No tricks on his tests, straight from notes. Overall he is my favorite instructor and I have over 62 hours right now. Great individual.

Dr. Bolen has forgotten more about this subject than most of us will ever know. VERY thorough and surprisingly interesting. If you go to class and take decent notes, you'll get an 'A'. Tells you EXACTLY what will be covered on tests and is exceptionally easy to understand. Great professor.

I took him over a summer session and you have to attend every day because his tests are straight off of his lectures. He really tries to clarify things and I would defintitely take him again.

he is an awesome teacher!! everybody should take him. his class consist of 1 very easy paper, 4 tests, and no final!! but i recommend not missing class b/c his test are exactly like the notes and he does lecture the whole class. he doesn't care about attendence or if you sleep. so come to class with a voice recorder and you'll do fine.

He's a very good lecturer, kept my interest every day during lecture. Tests are straight from notes and definitions from text. On Exams, he tells you "according to the book" or "according to lecture". He is very good about working with you on makeups. You HAVE to study in order to pass the exam. Make sure to take good notes and you will do great.

Great guy, very passionate and knowledgable. He's fun to listen to but he does make you take a lot of notes. Don't take him if you have problems being in class and on time cause his tests come straight from the lecture, the only time you ever need the book is for the bolded terms but you can do that in the library. Don't buy the book but take notes

He's a good teacher his tests are based on his lectures. Try not to daze off because if you arent able to write notes then you'll mostly likely not know the answer on the test. If you miss class you should borrow somebody's notes. He emphasizes that the test are based on his lecture..so pay attention and you'll do fine.

very exicted about government and pretty animated. as long as you pay attention in class you should do well. tests are pretty detailed but hell tell you during lecture what he wants you to know. you only need the book for the terms. i would take him again.

If you take notes, do not fall asleep. YOu'll do GREAT. If it helps leave a tape recorder on and take notes at the same time. But over all hes a good teacher

This guy is cool, don't take if you are a book learner, but if you are a lecture learner like myself, he is the s**t. A few definitions out of the book, mostly lecture though.Funny and cynical at times, be prepared to attend class from start to finish, you are not required to go to class, but it is within your best interest to go.

This guy is great!! He is super nice and keeps you very intrested in his lectures. I had him the same semester for both of my gov classes, and I actually looked forward to going to class. You should definatley take him, you will not regret it one bit!! You have to go to class b/c the test is all lecture notes, and only key terms from the chapters.

He teaches for his tests, but it very hard to stay interested. He is very nice, but he is definatley not easy, if you are looking for and easy A dont take him unless you plan to not miss any class at all!

Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you go and copy down what he says, its a text question, verbatum! He actually says, "This will be a test question!" He is passionate about his subject and while the subject matter is boring the last half of class, he makes it bearable. I actually learned something at San Jac, a first.

Dr. Bolen is a wonderful professor at San Jacinto College. I learned a great deal from this man and would highly recommend him for your Political Science courses. As long as you come to class and listen you will easily get an A in his course. You will only need the textbook for the key terms, which will account for 20% of each exam.

Bolen's class is quite easy, but only if you bring a recorder. You have to write down every detail of lectures because those are the questions on the test. His class is mandatory since his tests are only based on the notes. The only time we used the text book was to look up key terms.

TAKE DR. BOLEN! Go to class, take notes, and you'll make an A. Also, it helps if you go through the vocabulary terms he assigns and WRITE THEM DOWN the night before the test. Just a tip. ;) Anyhow, he's a really nice guy and a great teacher! Do yourself a favor and sign up for his class!

Lacture class. 90% lacture 10 % book. only thing is that you need to know all of the terms in the book any way. Great teacher wonderful personality. HARDTESTS. Everytime I thought I did well i did ok. No extra credit and multiple choice. Soo the work studiy record lecture involve your self in the class and you will do good.

I took him for 2301 & 2302. His curriculum is really straightforward. Go to class, take notes and you'll do fine. (not an easy A though) Don't buy the book, I would borrow from someone else or the library before each exam, because he only uses the terms for the tests.

Dont listen to the bad comments. This teacher is nice, helpful, and made class super easy. The first test for personal problems i couldnt take it, so he let me make it up almost the last week of school. You have to take notes but the tests come strictly from the notes. He does not use BB. You only use the book for the terms u need to study.

i hated this class, he hardly used the book at all, its mainly listen to him talk about government. his lectures were great if you have trouble sleeping, tests were extremely hard, no hints about what is going to be on the tests

A legend. Ive taken him for two semesters of government and I still cannot tell you his political leanings. Truly one of the best professors at San Jac.

Really easy class I'm taking it over the summer my lowest grade so far has been a 94! Be prepared to take notes, recording the lectures might help. He really is a great Professor and knows what hes taking about!!!

This is one of best government teachers, in fact all of the san jac south political sciences are all good. Just take good notes and you will have an A. He is very interesting and is very sincere in the class. I loved his class, and many of you will also.

I took his class not knowing anything and made an A. All you have to do is take notes and understand them. This helped me more than just memorizing. He tells you what terms are on the test. Take his class you won't regret it. The Best Government teacher in San Jac!

Mr. Bolen is the best gov't teacher. He lectures every class, but everything he says is exactly on the test. The test are very easy if you pay atttetion he is also goofy in a good way. If you want a laid back teacher I will highly recommmend him. I pass both of his classes 2301 and 2302 with a B.

I love him! Took both govt classes with him. His exams are a little tricky, so read carefully. Straight forward: 4 exams, 1 paper! Very good sense of humor! Enjoyed the class and learned a lot!

Just take notes and you will be fine. He has make ups for exams too and is willing to help you with your papers. Always in a good mood. I definately reccomend taking him.

Attending class and taking notes is crucial. Everything in his lectures are in his tests. Tests are 50 multiple choice problems, 40 from lectures and 10 from vocabulary terms in the book. I would say Attendance is mandatory since he lectures every class.

Dr. Bolen has been teaching at San Jac since 1979 when the college opened. He is an intelligent man and nice, but he does not give his students easy A's.

Outstanding professor. He has deep knowledge of his subject. His tests come straight from the lecture notes (except from a few vocab words from the book. His passion for the subject is reflected in his interesting lectures. Attendance is mandatory. Overall, he is an amazing person.

I really enjoyed taking Mr. Bolen. I liked his humor and sarcasm. Don't need the book except for the vocab terms, will will be on the test. A total of four 50 quest. multiple choice tests. One paper due. Attend the class for his lecture. Everything he teaches is on the test. He was great.

Bolen's class is really easy if you attend it and take notes. He tries to be funny. He really knows his government & makes it easy for you to remember the info. Tests are based on his lecture. Mostly word for word. Study & youll be fine, easy A. He's really fair, doesnt allow extra credit or bonuses & sadly he never lets his class out early.

Professor bohen is far from easy. Although like everyone else said, tests are speccifically based on the notes you take in class. He also makes sure to point out the specific things that will be on the exams. The book is never used, so dont bother buying it. Its not an easy class in general for a freshman like me. Solid teacher though. Take it.

SO EASY. All you have to do is attend all classes, because you don't want to skip lecture, take thorough notes (he is very clear on what should be on the notes and what shouldn't and gives plenty time ti write it all down), and study the 10 extra terms. Easy A! Just pay attention and study your notes. He's a fun and very intelligent professor!

very easy class, all lecture so need to take good notes. only 5 grades total: 4 exams, 1 super easy paper, just have to follow the guidelines and an easy A. I didn't even use the textbook just looked up the vocab online.

He's nice, gentle. But he only talk in his lecture, just write down vocabulary. You have to write almost things come from his mouth to take an exam.

This class is easy if you actually attend class and study. This is a lecture only class so if you can't take good notes find a different teacher. You only have 5 grades so you have little room to screw off. The book is only used for vocabulary and you can rent it from the library.
