Professor Bouman is brilliant to say the least. He comes off as a bit of a stoner, but once you get past that you can learn so much. If there were a Nobel Prize for clear economic thinking, Professor Bouman should be the recipient.

Best teacher ever. Made me want to major in Economics. Easy test- open book. But if you pay attention in class and study about 30 minutes the sunday before the test, there is no reason to get lower than an "A". Great teacher. Definitely recommend!

His class is very straightforward. Only thing is the info is online and he reads off of it in class. I don't see the point of showing up when you can read it at home and have the cd. Fun part though is when we play Jeopardy. I think the picture above is kind of outdated though.

One of my favorite teachers. His classes are laid back but if you listen at all you will learn. all quizes are open notes/book/on the computer. You do have to do a debate but its not that hard, its in a group. Awesome Class!

GREAT TEACHER!! Lots of fun! We played jeapardy every week. We could use our notes on the quizes. No midterm or final. The hardest part was the debate we had.

Wonderful teacher.He is funny and extremely helpful. He makes himself available for students. Read through the CD (Bouman) to get high grades. Not too much work required. Homework is multiple choice, all need to be done online-which is very convenience. Great professor.

One of the best professors in college. No midterm, final, or tests. All you have is 5 unit quizzes, and 10 practice sets all on Blackboard. Really fun and hilarious teacher, I recommend him to everyone.

JB is a fantastic professor. I took his class online for both Econ 101 and 102, and did well in both. Econ is not the easiest subject but he produces his own material and is very willing to help the student. There is no reason to fail his class with the level of care he offers. By far my favorite teacher in the 2 years I've been at HCC!

This is not a hard class. I liked Bouman a lot, he is a very nice guy. However be warned. The final is very difficult. I had a 95% the whole semester but the final brought me down to a B.

Professor Bouman is the best. He is very helpful and the course is laid out nicely. A ton of class time is dedicated to review games to help you learn the material better. There is a debate near the end of the course, make sure you prepare and don't wing it. Other than that, he makes the course very easy and you will do well if you put in effort.

Awesome teacher! I would recommend downloading and printing out his textbook, it is a lot of pages to print, but it is totally worth it in the end. I started off struggling at the beginning of the semester in his class, but once i printed out his text and studied that, i ended up finishing the class with a B :) he also makes the class alot of fun!

Really cool teacher. He makes it relatively easy to pass. He give practice sets that if you don't do well on, he will give you another chance to get a better grade. I absolutely LOVED Professor Bouman, I just transferred schools and JB was my favorite professor I had in my 2 years at HCC. I took him for both Mico and Macro and although the material is tough, he breaks it down and teaches it in a way that makes sense. His quizes are tough, however they are open note and he does give extra credit! Thanks JB!

JB is an awesome professor! He wrote the textbook which is available free online. There aren't any exams just open not quizzes throughout the semester. He always replied quickly to emails containing my concerns and was more than happy to look over work before it was due to make sure you were on the right track with the assignment.

I never rate someone, or leave comments, but TAKE HIM he's the best professor I've ever met Willing to teach, share, conduct with students!! If you are good tester, you'll be fine. I took class in person, he makes the class fun and excitements I am going to take him for Micro as well textbooks are given, make sure you read!

Take this class! Easy participation discussions, two papers, and three 20 question tests. I failed a paper, met with the professor, and he let me write another paper to make up some of the points. The book is online (free and he is the author). Highly recommend.

The grading can be confusing and there are many forms of "test." Overall an easy class. The textbook is free because it was written by the teacher. It is also online.

Great Professor. I took Macro economics. I will be taking microeconomics with him again. Participation matters, but most importantly attendance. Show up late? your grade will drop. Don't show up to class? your grade will drop. There is no textbook used in his class, he writes his own notes/work. Overall great teacher and def taking his class again.

One of my favorite professors at HCC because he actually cares about each and every student and their grade. If you are not doing well in the class, he takes the time to work with you to bring your grade up. His class is not easy, but if you study, come to class, and read the online text, you will do well. Definitely recommend for any econ class.

He is amazing. In the online class there are no tests, only practice sets and practice quizzes which you get 2 attempts on and you only need to get a 70% to get full credit. Prof. Bouman is one of my favorite professors I have ever had!!! I took my first economics class with him and I had no trouble understanding the course materials. I learned SO MUCH about economics in his class and am taking 102 (even though it is not part of my major requirements). He is one of the nicest and funniest teachers, take his class!!

I LOVE PROFESSOR BOUMAN. I am a nursing major interested in healthcare management and I have no background in economics. He is a really easy teacher and cares so much. All his quizzes are open notes, and he makes class fun and gives a lot of extra credit from review jeopardy games. There is no final exam, just a final review paper. TAKE HIM!!!

Prof Bouman is an amazing professor! The textbook we use is written by him and it is online (also free). All the quizzes are online and they are open note, so if you take good notes you do not have to worry about memorizing any concepts. The quizzes are not easy, and you really have to think the questions through, but having your notes really helps

The best way to pass his class is to read beforehand, take the practice sets and if you have questions go to his office hours! You are guaranteed to pass! Great professor, as long as you use the textbook (which is free and written by the professor) you will do well in the class. Took his hybrid course with only one lecture a week and at the end of class we always played games to get extra credit. Very reasonable professor and willing to help you with anything.

The class requires camera on and if you are late he will take off points. Show up because you have to write a summary if you don't. Professor Bouman is really great, he lectures in a way that makes it clear and understandable to students, & provides us with a free textbook he made himself. To prepare for practice sets and quizzes, we get into teams and answer review questions for extra credit. To prepare for unit quizzes, we play Jeopardy as a class for additional extra credit.

By far the best college professor I have encountered at HCC, even with just being online this semester. Professor Bouman wrote his own online textbook, which makes his lectures and quizzes much easier. He is a caring and very friendly guy and would 100% recommend to anyone needing to take micro or macro economics.

BEST TEACHER IVE HAD AT HCC BY FAR! I have signed up for 3 of his classes because he is just the best. It is the only class I enjoy going to. We play fun games for extra credit, have interesting group projects, and great discussions. Professor Bouman really cares about his students and helps you learn a lot. Most fun class I had at HCC. Bouman makes the class super fun with discussions and debates and the class is overall SUPER easy. Just make sure you read the textbook and that's it. I am taking him again for microeconomics.

This class is probably one of the easiest classes you'd ever take in community college. There is one group project and one DIY project. Professor Bouman does "Jeopardy" for students to earn extra credits. The textbook is FREE and can be accessed online! I'd strongly recommend this one awesome dude if you're taking ECON 101 or ECON 102!

I took ECON 102 in the 7 weeks pathway. It was not hard but it was a lot of content that could not be covered with fully understand because it was pretty fast. The professor was amazing, he really wants to help everyone. Extra credit games help you understand the topic in a fun way. I would definitely take a class with professor Bouman again.

Professor Bouman was amazing. I took his 7-week class, and his lectures were actually entertaining; he's genuinely funny and makes the material easy to follow. The practice quizzes were helpful and prepared me for the actual quizzes. His class was super enjoyable.
