WOW. This guy is a great person! His test are easy, and you dont need to really read the book if you take good notes and write down his examples. Best teacher I've had so far. I think you can learn a lot about psychology and life from Dr. Buri.

Best prof at UST absolutely without a doubt. Very helpful and willing to be there for his students. Uses many examples to illustrate what he is talking about and allows students to take the class where they want to go. Really teaches a lot very well. He could teach a class on the phone book and I would learn an immense amount.

He probably doesn't need one more good rating...but really, he's a great prof and Marriage and Family is a great class. You really respect him and what he's teaching, which is a great quality in a professor.

Great Prof loved the class. He makes class fun. He doesn't take attendance but class is always interesting, so its not worth missing. Tests are straight from the book and can get pretty tricky.

Buri was the best prof I had this semester. I'm thinking about taking a minor in psych just to have him as a prof again! ;p

This class will change the way you look at life and marriage and family... Don't take it unless you are willing to challenge the beliefs you hold onto. This class will ask you to become a better human being. It's worth it. For sure.

The best teacher I've had!!! Class was always fun to go to. It never got boring. He's gotten me interested in Psychology and I'm now planning to minor in it. The tests are nearly all examples, which helps you apply the subject to real life! A very good teacher and guy! I'd take him again 100 out of 100 times!

You will leave this class loving psychology and in tears because you will miss Dr. Buri so much. Best professor ever. Can't wait until his new book comes out. Loved Dr. Buri! If you have the chance, you have to take him. Very interesting lectures - so funny and you'll want to go to class every day for a change! Tests are all MC and you have one very easy HW assignment on the side. Very easy, tests were tricky but all examples! you'll love him!

Wow. I took Dr. Buri for Research Methods my first semester Freshmen year (I know it's unorthodox) but he was great! I would highly recommend him. Grades are fair so if you pay attention it's an A. Best teacher I have ever had and I plan to take him again.

I'm a graduate, but I had Dr. Buri for several classes. He is an excellent professor. Very friendly and makes class fun and interesting. Also very approachable outside of class and easy to talk to. He seems to genuinely care about his students and will do whatever it takes to help if needed.

I love Dr. Buri. You must take him! I had him for Intro to Psych and Psych of Marriage and Family (highly recommend the class!) He is so knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. Attendance is not required, but I wanted to go every day!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! take him if you have a chance! Teaches via skeleton method (writes words on the board and lectures about them). His exams cover mainly things he lectures about but throws a few curve balls with materials from the book. Sometimes goes on random tangents and don't know if it's goin to be on the exam or not. TAKE NOTES JUST IN CASE!

LOVEDDDD GOING TO THIS CLASS!!!!!!! He makes class something you actually WANT to go to and I had no problem waking up early to go to it. His tests are hard but if you talk to him about strategies and study advice he will help you right back. He is engaged in lectures and you learn a ton even if its just for General Psych. I will take him again!!!

Dr. Buri likes to teach what he thinks you should know so somtimes he just goes on random tangets. He lets the discussion field the class and is open to questions. No text book for Learning and Mem so a little harder for those who like to have something concrete to follow. Tests are kinda hard but he is an engaging prof. You'll want to go to class.

Dr. Buri likes to teach. Tests aren't bad if you pay attention in class. You'll want to go to class it's such an interesting topic and will get you thinking about marriage and how to make your relationship better. Participate in discussions; it's what makes the class interesting by hearing other's views on things.

Took this as a summer session. I HATE mornings and it was 8AM-noon, except Dr. Buri made getting up that early totally worth it! SO GREAT! You are missing out if you don't take a class from him.

Most entertaining teacher on campus. Tests are based on lectures so you need to take a lot of notes in this class.

Learning and memory. I was dreading it, but it was an amazing class and a great prof! He understands if you have to miss class, no text book, and lab is not required. I highly recommend going because he helps SO much with your semester-long research project. Read the handouts he gives in class b/c there are Qs on the exams. Take him for this lab!!

350 words cannot adequately describe how awesome Dr. Buri is, so I won't even try. Do note that taking a ton of notes is important to passing the class. The textbook is not required, but I would recommend it. Attendence is not mandatory. Fellow St. Thomas students, your experience at UST is not complete without taking a class from Dr. Buri!

Buri is a great professor with a lot of knowledge. I would suggest staying up on the reading though, just because for the two tests in the semester it's based on all of the readings that you thought you could get away with not doing. The more honest you are in class, the better the discussion.

Dr. Buri is amazing. Psychology is pretty interesting to begin with but he has so much passion for it that you start to feel the same way. Tests are example based, meaning you need to understand rather than memorize. There are assignments but we got all ours done in class. Textbook not needed but helps. Would take again.

The best professor at UST! I wish I could have him for all my classes. He knows what he's talking about and uses real life examples. His lectures are very interesting. Very nice guy and if you need any help or just want to talk to him about life, he is there for you and very willing to listen.

I love the way Dr Buri teaches this course! Even though the course itself isn't too exciting, I thoroughly enjoyed it. He applies the material with real-world examples immediately after teaching it. He is inspirational and finds ways to connect the material to each student and himself. He is organized and very clear on what to expect on the exam.

Fantastic professor, probably the best at UST! Uses real life examples to explain material (not just definitions). Actually looked forward to going to lecture. Will definitely be take more class from him. Tests are application rather than definition; a few assignments but pretty easy (get points for turning them in). Don't need the book but helps.

Research methods is NOT what he's passionate about & he knows it's boring material, but still tries to make it interesting. 3 tests(MC), 1 final, 2 longer papers, handful of daily assignments. 2 hr lab/week- usually just working on papers or practicing math problems. Doesn't care if you show up but I would recommend going

Psych of Marriage and Family is by far my favorite class at UST! Actually wanted to learn course material since it is so applicable! Dr. Buri is super funny, very helpful, and a silver fox! Take any class you can with him, especially this one! Two tests, one long paper! not hard at all!

Pysch is not remotely my thing, but Dr. Buri made it so interesting, and I never regretted showing up to class even though he never took attendance. Take very thorough notes because a good portion of exams are from the lecture. Make sure you stay on top of textbook reading too! Exams are also mostly about application rather than definitions.

5 one page papers are graded on completion. 5 tests, 4 unit tests and 1 cumulative test. The tests are fair and are written for the student to succeed, not to trick the student. Buri doesn't burden the student with memorizing dates and other irrelevant things. He drops our lowest unit test. just study lectures and you should do fine.

This was by far my favorite class I've taken! Dr. Buri makes it so you actually want to go to class and learn. There are 2 tests and 1 final paper. Tests based on the books and lecture, so read the material (you'll want to because it's so interesting). 10/10 recommend this course, even to non-psychology majors.

Buri is the nicest and most understanding professor I've taken in my 3 years at St. Thomas. He goes out of his way to tell us he doesn't care if we use our phones or show up to class because it is our own decision. One of the best profs i've had the pleasure of taking at UST. Most of your grade comes from exams, so do well on the exams (they're extremely straight forward though). He is an amazing professor that I really can't say enough good things about. TAKE HIS COURSE.

Amazing class. Top 3. Teaches Marriage and Family like its his mission to help us to have good lives. With a topic like "Marriage and Family" it's easy to imagine there would be biases but he has helped me to see that there was actually good in the past and that we need to learn from it. Reasonable amount of work and not worried about details

Dr Buri's passion for research was almost infectious, though he knows the class is boring. 3 tests (all open book/note, and you can use the internet), 1 paper, take home final, and a handful of in-class statistics problems. Super easy, and great to get the course out of the way over the summer. Take Psych 212 with him over summer!!!

Buri is super awesome. Not only are classes fun and non-manditory, he is an easy grader and basically manipulates grades to be better than they actually are. I had a blast in his class and I suggest taking it!

Dr. Buri's lectures keep your attention. He doesn't just talk at you, he has discussions, answers any questions, uses real life examples and acts situations out. He's super easy to learn from plus he is very open and honest and rational.

I would for sure take this professor again. My class was online due to Covid and he did a very good job at keeping the information interesting and easy to learn. You can tell he is passionate about what is talking about. Awesome guy.

He has so much knowledge to share with his extensive background, and he just wants to make everyone a better person and challenge them to think about things in a deeper way. There are few things that are graded in Gen Psych for instance - 4 paper assignments with prompts and 4 exams + final. Dr. Buri is a professor that is clearly passionate about psychology, which makes it easier to follow along. He was less focussed on specific terms and ideas and more focused on student's reflection of the material. With each class period, you submit a journal entry on anything included in that day's lecture.

I literally love Dr. Buri's class. He is not afraid to say what is on his mind, and is less concerned about the specifics of the material, and focusing more on making sure his students understand the material.

Dr. Buri is hilarious, and keeps lectures SO interesting. If you have the opportunity, take PSYC288. I got a lot out of the class. Can't stress enough what an amazing professor Dr. Buri is.

He is the best, his classes are interesting and he's good at explaining the topics. Attendance is not mandatory but he does not record lectures so show up and take good notes. All tests are multiple choice and cover the things he talks about in class. He assigns 4 papers total that are all due on the last day of the semester (can be done whenever).

Nothing much to say about Professor Buri besides that you should take him. He is probably the best professor on campus. The course is very reliant on tests however so many sure you study lots and do well.

Dr. Buri was absolutely amazing. He clearly wants all his students to succeed, there were 4 exams total and he dropped the lowest score along with weighting the highest score. There were also 4 one page reflections that were very easy to write and graded on completion. His lectures were amazing and he had a story for everything, highly reccommend.

Dr. Buri is my favorite professor I've ever had. I have taken both Gen Psych and Marriage and Fam with him, and have also visited his office hours outside of classes just for general advice. I love his teaching style, he clearly is knowledgeable on the subject, and even after 50+ years teaching he still knows how to make classes fun and engaging.

Dr. Buri is a very intelligent, thoughtful professor. He brought in real life circumstances into the classroom and really cared for his students. All in all, he really does want the best for his students and offered many great lectures and extra credit.

Dr. Buri is great, TAKE HIM. As you can see he has over 100 5star ratings- which speaks for itself. He is hilarious and super open, nonjudgmental, and wants to get to know you, but you have to put the time in back and reciprocate that. Take good notes and you'll do fine. Dr. Buri is an incredible professor. I am convinced he could turn the most boring thing imaginable into an engaging and valuable lecture. He will tell you immediately that attendance is optional, but he does such a great job you'll be excited to go every day. Tests will strictly stick to what was covered in class. Dr.Buri's class consists of lecture but he is very engaging and time goes by really fast. All you have to do is pay attention in lecture, take good notes, and review them.

Dr. Buri is an absolutely lovely professor. He enjoys making connections with his students and teaching the class. He lectures the whole class and does not use PowerPoint. The class has a 7-10 page research paper, daily reflection journals, and two exams. Exams are easy if you take good notes and pay attention in class.

His class is all lecture but it's extremely engaging. He doesn't use slides. Exams were straightfoward and simple.
