Burks is a funny teacher, he loves to tell stories which can help pass time. Tests need to be studied for but not a lot of homework, just a few papers that are very easy. If you like hearing out-of-this-world stories, I would recommend him!

Pretty easy class small short papers easy to write.. alot of lectures... great stories.. all around good guy...take him only if you plan on attending class...study for tests!

I had Mr Burk for two different classes, he is by far the best and funniest teacher I've had. It was nice that he would give you a break during class for him to tell a story that way you can pay attention a lot better. His stories are hilarious and he makes the topics fun...i would recommend him for sure!

With all of his stories, this guy is like the real life Forest Gump. The class was easy, a few personal opinion papers and multiple choice tests. Just take good notes and you'll be fine.

Mr Burks the the best! He is so funny I almost fall out of my chair in class everyday. He's expressions and stories are priceless. He has a really cool, no-nonsense approach to religion and he doesn't make any students feel bored.

I was impressed with the way he taught World Religion because he was neutral and just covered the facts. Also, he would allow time for the students to debate and express their opinions. Very funny man with lots of good stories.

Mr. Burks is the funniest teacher on the planet. I really enjoyed his class.. i actually learned a lot from his class and his stories are so funny. I highly recommend taking his class. He looks like mr. feeny a little bit. :-)

WOW this guy can be mean when he wants, but other than that hes awesome. He ALWAYS has a story to say but you'll soon realize thier not true although he claims they are. FEeeeeeeeeenie...he DEfinatly looks like a younger mr.feenie. HE is strict on attendence tho.

He looks much better than Mr.Feenie. That's funny though. Yes, he is strict on attendance but if you miss a class you miss alot of important information. He covers alot of material in each class. I think he has his reasons. His stories are great even if you don't believe them all. They could be true! Some people just live extrordinary lives.

He is a very nice teacher. He has some funny stories, but sometimes he tells too many stories that students can care less about which just wastes time. He will not let you leave early and is very strict on attendence, even if you walk in late or leave a little early he will knock off points. The tests are mostly easy but there are tricky ??

Probably the most entertaining prof I've ever had. Kind of reminds me of a real live Forrest Gump, with all wacky of his stories. The class is relatively easy, but you have to take good notes. A tape recorder is recommended (he'll probably kid you about recording his conversations). He made a long 3 hour summer class relatively bearable.

He is extremley unsensitve, a pretty big smart ass too. Told rediculous stories and some of his tests were pretty complicated. You HAVE to go to class. If your looking not to attend class, do NOT take this guy. Your grade will suffer, plus one day of notes will kill you. Not an easy A, you have to buy his book, read and write a review.

Mr.Burks is a very interesting teacher. He knows how to make you want to learn. He has many, many funny stories. Some seem doubtful but yeah. I highley recommend him. Very interesting class.

I had him soo long ago but I do remember him being really funny and keeping the clas interesting. One of the reasons I now minor in History at South Alabama. I pulled and A but you do have to study and take notes. I do recommend him.

THE BEST TEACHER EVER! hes soo fun. his class seems to fly by..not one of those annoying teachers that read of powerpoints. tests are fair- he tells u whats going to be on the test.and the answers are right in your notes.just take good notes and you'll do fine! He has stories about his that are unreal and that seriously take up half the class lol!no hmwrk just 3 1 pg papers about nething u want. like 4 or five tests and the final is a normal test not over everything. tip-miss test day and make it up next time in a room alone use ur notes he never checks on u but takes away 8%

Burks is awesome!! take his world religion class, its so interesting and fun..i bought the book but didnt even use it, you just have to buy his novel that he wrote and write a paper about it..

Awesome Professor!!! His crazy stories were so much fun. I loved going to class and I learned sooo much! He gives easy assignments and 1 compare and contrast paper that you have to read two books for...not bad. Good teacher!

Burks is AWESOME. An interesting sense of humor/personality and great stories. You will learn a lot and the tests aren't that bad--take notes! While taking Eastern Religion I found myself referring back to notes from his class...Luna Bars!!!!!

attendance is mandatory. class flies by. make sure you can write fast because most of the test is with the lectures. it was an easy class, just make sure you pay attention.

he is mean espacially if you dont raise your hand. he yelled at me for class discussion and not raising my hand and everyone else did not have to raise their hand. i passed and got mostly As in the class he still gave me c+. dont buy his books but if you dont he will drop your grade. if you challenge grades he threatens you to drop grade. What do you mean stories that are unreal. all his stories are real, and some of them are documented. this dude is awesome, and all his stories are real. I, myself can relate his stories to my own life, and learn from them. he is the best teaccher i ve ever had in my life

don't need the book. although I did and read it very interesting and I learned alot but he doesn't use it at all. come to class on time and TAKE NOTES this is where his test questions come from. he tells several stories but gets back on track quickly.

Awesome teacher!! Keeps you interested. Tells alot of stories about his own life that make you laugh and entertained. If you take the class seriously, you shouldn't have a problem. He is a Christian. Although Muslims have said it, he has NO BIAS. I would definately take him again.

Awesome guy! He keeps the class interested, but he may offend some people. He has a lot of stories to tell. Some may seem crazy, however he is a great professor. If he were teaching in Illinois in the fall I would take every class offered. Great guy all the way around!

GIVES YOU 3 REACTION PAPER(WRITE ONE FULL PAGE ON N E THING YOU POSSIBLY WANT)HE GIVES YOU 4 QUESTIONS AS HW THROUGH OUT THE SEMESTER AND UR ANSWER CAN ONLY BE ONE SENTENCE MAXIMUM. DONT BUY THE BOOK I NEVER USED IT AND I GOT AN A!

Here the thing, if you know your gonna be missing a lot of class then don't even bother taking his class, your grade will be shot. Take notes, listen when he talks and you'll pass. Hes an alright teacher, and his stories are amusing. Ask him about the love story between him and his wife "I'LL GIVE YOU THE FORMULA" <- Priceless!

Mr. Burks is one of the best teachers at HFCC. First of all, his tests are by far the easiest. All you have to do for them is study the notes that her writes on the board, but you have to cope them. His stories are fun and interesting. You won't regret taking him. And the essays assigned are not that bad. Got an A. Oh and attendance is important

This is the best teacher I have ever had. If you do not like this teacher you've got problems. He does tell stories about his life but they are interesting and he teaches you so much. I would STRONGLY recommend this teacher he will change your views on life and you will be glad you took this course!

He's my favorite instructor I've had in college thus far. He tells a lot of stories and gets off-topic a lot, but I think it's to help with creating an easy and fun atmosphere for a religion class. I would highly recommend him.

I love this teacher so much! He is really funny and makes the class interesting. He does tell a lot of stories though and some people didn't like that about him. They never bothered me. As long as you take notes and listen, you'll be fine. Every thing on the tests are from the notes. The only hw is 3 questions,which are only one sentence each! :)

Pros: Funny stories, goes by syllabus, easy assignments and tests, and says some wise things, actually. Cons: Easily gets off track, brags about his novel and thesis, rushes through material sometimes, lacks interest in subject, and is strictly anti-texting. Personally, I liked his class fine. Mr. Burks tells a bunch of streis, and goes off on random tanjents all the time. The material was very interesting yet not exactly clear or organized. H/W was easy only 3 assignments once sentence each. Tests touch. Get on his good side and pay attention.

He's a great guy. His stories are very wild and off the wall, but interesting. Ask him about Charles Manson. He asks for one sentence papers. I read his book and it was very interesting, I reccomend purchasing it.

Mr. Burks is the best teacher I've ever had, this is the one class in my schedule I can relax about. He does tell stories, but they are very interesting. He teaches fast but nothing that you can't understand, if you write down his notes (not many) you'll be fine! Plus he gives a study guide before very test and there are only 4 homework assignments

This man cracks me up on a daily basis!!!! He does tell stories but honestly they help me remember when I am studying and taking the tests. We had a rough start, but I looove him now! Yes he tells a lot of stories but he does tell you what's on the test. He really did not use the book. He is very knowledgeable about all religions. His grading system is self explanatory. Above all, he is a great teacher!

This man is a character! He tells stories, but they relate to the lecture suprisingly, and he has physical proof for at least one. He teaches a religion class, so to break the ice he jokes around and picks on students. Regardless of his playful nature, he doesn't play around. If you don't try you will not pass.

If you just want an easy A, then he's the one! He's constantly sharing stories, and they're hilarious. Just don't talk out of turn or disrespect him. He might say things that you think are offensive, but he's really a nice sweet old man that tries to be funny and interesting. Tests are vocabs and his book is actually good.
