This class was a whole experience, there are multiple assignments every week and it involves a lot of participation even as an online class, it is required for you to do a form of volunteering outside your house at least twice and you will write a few papers but the professor is a fair grader and an incredible person with infinite stories.
Dr. Buschman is an amazing person. He is extremely committed to volunteer efforts he plays a huge role in Miami's community. I took this class as an elective in my last semester. Learned a lot, but struggled with the amount of work given. I would not recommend this class if you are busy. Workload made it impossible to Volunteer(20% of grade).
The class is very educational, but too much writing and activity for an online class there are two mandatory volunteer work that has to be completed
Great guy!
Professor Buschman is a great person, the class taught me a lot about sustainability and the importance of volunteering. There is one big paper at the end, do not leave it for last minute. Lots of interesting Facebook post challenges you need to do and homework every week. Overall I found the class very insightful and loved volunteering !
Professor Buschman is really nice, but be prepared to write a lot and have to volunteer. The weekly challenges on Facebook are really interesting and make you come out of your comfort zone.
This professor is really passionate about the subject. You will be required to do off campus volunteer activities in this course so be prepared to drive to volunteer facilities. There are a few papers to write in this class but if you do the work the professor is fair.
A lot of assignments and extra credits. This class is really hard and takes a lot of time to finish everything.
Professor Buschman is very nice. We had discussion posts on facebook about the weekly challenges, volunteer events, and group projects.
There is a lot of work for this class. He is a great professor and cares about his students. This was an elective class for me, and I struggled doing all the workload especially in shorter Summer semester. There is a mandatory two volunteer opportunities that you must do that are 20% of your grade. With the workload, it is difficult. (Extra credit)
Great Professor , Great class , Great Experince . After taking this class it will change your life.
If you want to learn and also learn to be a good person - this is the class - he is so smart and well prepared. If you are lazy don't take this class.
Professor Buschman is honestly a great professor. He is stremely understanding and very nice when someone have any doubt and problem.
Dr. Buschman is a great professor that the FIU community has. Im glad I took my last class of my bachelors with him as I take a nice memory of it. He is very understanding if you have any problem, caring and great person. Lectures are recommended to assist. Not so much of assignments / quizes and a final project. Truly recommended to take him!
Professor Buschman is a great professor. He is very understanding and cares about the students. He will always be available and ready to help you when you have a question or concern. You will learn a lot from his class.
Great professor!!
Professor John is a great professor, does not send any hard assignments there are some quizzes but if you go to class and pay attention will do great! The information was very interesting and very modern which made it easy to learn and enjoyable. I recommend the class and also the professor.
Professor Buschman is a great professor. The class is not complicated. The professor is available after class to answer any questions and is he genuinely wants to help you succeed!
Dr. Buschman is without exaggeration one of the best teachers I have ever had. Not just at FIU but in my life. Very knowledgable and extremely nice. The best part about this class are the field activities Dr. Buschman will get to you to experience the industry in real life.
Professor Buschman cares for all his students, he made sure we all were grasping everything we learned and had greater speakers come to talk to the class. Overall would take this class again.
Professor Buschman is an overall amazing professor. One of FIU's best! His class is a great learning experience and prepares you for the real world of travel and tourism marketing. The lectures and guest speakers were great; he gives great feedback and genuinely wants everyone to succeed.
the class was good. the only tough part is the social service
Each week there is a quiz, a weekly challenge on Facebook. There are 3 major projects in this class that are what require the most writing. You need to complete 3 volunteer sessions and write an essay about it for one of the projects. However, the work is fairly easy and all instructions are very well explained! I recommend taking this class!
Great professor! Highly recommended
This class was fantastic! The professor is really thoughtful and considerate of the student's situations. He ensures that you comprehend the true meaning of the course and that each activity serves a purpose. Although you will have a bit of homework, it is all doable if you stay on track. I would strongly suggest this class to all majors!!
Professor Buschman is a great professor! We had to do 3 service learning volunteer events throughout the semester. He is caring, thoughtful, and helps you pass the class. I would definitely recommend this course and professor.
John Buschman is an AMAZING professor, he cares for all of his students and is very good with communication. He does not give busy work and everything is straight to the point. You do need to go and do volunteer service but it's not that bad. Overall take him he is great.
Attendance is not mandatory but he makes quizzes reflect the class. Guest speakers very entertaining, overall a good professor. I would take again, work is needed to pass but not stressful or overwhelming
I took Dr. Buschman online for the fall semester of 2021 and I enjoyed my time in this class very much. He is a caring professor who wants you to educate yourself about your community and the problems we face every day. If you have the chance to take him, do it! You will learn a lot and the weekly challenges are fun to participate in.
Great Professor for an online class. You definitely have to work for your grade but he loves his work which makes it worth it. Very nice person
John Buschman is a nice guy. He really cares about social responsibility and you can see it! One different thing about his class is that you have to volunteer during your free time, so be aware of that! He doesn't gives a lot of assignments but for the ones he does, he takes time to grade them.
As a biology major, this was my first hospitality class I've taken and probably the best decision I've made. Professor Bushman has been one of the most caring and well rounded professors I've taken. The course content itself throughout the course was extremely engaging. Especially being able to interact with classmates through the use of FB group!
Dr. Buschman is a great professor with a storied past in the hospitality industry. The class was enjoyable and informative. He has many guest speakers and also brings the class to events such as trade shows. I made some valuable connections at the trade shows this semester and will definitely remember the experience. Thanks for an excellent course.
Professor Buschman was an excellent professor! if you had any questions about anything he answered quickly. Work was allowed to be turned in late for points deduction but still gave you the option of submitting work. Easy and inquisitive class. Definitely take with him!
Hes a very humble and caring Professor. Truly accessible and create a great environment for his students. Just do the work provided under module and you shall do great.
Professor Buschman is very caring and love to support the community. His weekly challenges are fun and interesting. It's only a few assignments per week, which is not bad. There extra credit at the end of the term.
This course is very easy and honestly was very interesting but there is a lot of homework to do, but as long as you are on top of the due dates and the assignment its an easy A
Buschman is a great professor who genuinely wants you to succeed! There is a lot of HW but as long as you do the required reading and manage your time wisely its not hard. It was a great class.
Loved this class, You actually learn a lot. The only thing is you will have to but a lot of time into it in order get a good grade.
Amazing class Very useful
I think Professor Buschman is a great professor, his class inspired me to pursue a minor in Hospitality. I would definitely recommend this class to hospitality majors and even non-hospitality majors such as myself. Although at times the class was a bit challenging, its worth it. Especially the 3 service learning activities, they were life-changing.
Great professor! He is caring and understanding. The class was informative and you learn a lot of valuable material.
Really different from the classes I usually take. He truly helps you understand the world hospitality and I loved how he gave assignment to volunteer in your community. Work is not hard at all you just need to do what he says and its an easy grade.
Dr. Buschman is a great professor, the class is is very organized. The classwork consisted of two major projects, weekly quizzes and challeges which are super fun. The way he teaches the class is a different approach, and the challenges really take you out of your comfort zone and its really fun. I definitely recommend taking this class.
Great professor! I would definitely take a class with him again.
Dr. Buschman has been wonderful to learn from. His class is organized, he is always keeping us up to date on what to expect weekly, and makes reaching out to him a breeze. Definitely recommend taking him!!!
He's honestly a really cool professor and I looked forward to his class. Not only extremest informative but really exposes you to a new and nontraditional way of learning which I find very refreshing. He taught and spoke of his experience in Tourism Destination Marketing in such a way, that made me want to be a part of that field as well.
Professor Buschman is very passionate about Tourism and Sustainability and it shows in his lectures and assignments. The course is relatively easy but requires a significant amount of reading of course materials and lectures. I would definitely take him again for other courses.
This class is a great way to get started on Hospitality and Tourism very engaging and full of fun and meaningful projects!
I enjoyed professor Buschman's class, however I think he should make assignments available earlier than he did, it was hard to keep up and work ahead due to the fact that none of the assignments were open and we couldn't prepare beforehand.
He was a good professor, instructions were clear, easy class
Prof. Buschman is great professor. I like that the assignments are more your experiences. He has amazing stories of how hes traveled and its an inspiration for the generation coming up to know that theres still a world out there that we can explore, it was really enjoyable to hear his experiences and the material that he used to teach our class
Overall great teacher, focuses mainly on teaching rather then focusing on heavy grading and homework.
Professor Buschman was a awesome professor I would take him again for international tourism and travel. I recommend you take him if your interested in this class. I loved the sociological factor of tourism i enjoyed it. Take him if you can.
I think it is a good class.
Buschman is one of the best professors I've ever taken. His classes are easy to pass but also very informative. They have just the right amount of work that actually gets you interested in the material and you end up learning something every day. Very caring and considerate professor who knows what he's doing. Take his class!
Dr. Buschman is awesome! He invited guest lecturers, played videos and read brief articles during class time. He made the class interesting! Tests are also online... if y'all attend class. Show up and you'll get an A no problem.
A really amazing professor that truly wants to see his students succeed. The test can be a bit challenging but it's nothing TOO hard. He brings in outside people who work in the tourism industry to class and it makes you appreciate the industry even more! He is also extremely passionate and it comes out in the way he teaches.
The professor did take attendance each class. However, he is very understanding when students could not make it on time/ to class. He allows late submission. A fews discussions and assignments which are simple and you will learn something new and useful. For quizzes, just listen to his lecture and read the materials provide on canvas.
Professor Buschman is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students. I enjoyed going to class each day since he incorporates the lectures with his personal experiences on traveling. I highly recommend to take this professor where you will learn a lot.
I highly recommend! Very nice professor and has a lot of knowledge of the travel industry.
Great class, tough material
Professor was good and the class material was kind of interesting even for an elective course, I just did not like the amount of papers we had to do (around 3) because in my case I also had other 4 classes and it was kind of hard but anyone with 12 credits or less would be fine.
Best prof ever!!
Although this professor is very kind and caring you will learn nothing about events. Class lectures are made up of his assistant (gaby) teaching the class when she has no knowledge in teaching and only rambles about her own business. No one can stand her. Overall the assignments are easy and attendance matters but a very boring class.
Great professor and course! A lot of readings, 7 quizzes for the semester + midterm + group project. We also had many guest speakers which were absolutely helpful and informative! Thanks Professor and Gabby!
Teaches from experience and insight. He has a unique perspective on the events industry and is focused on the upcoming future of sustainable events. He has a gamut of great guest speakers and asks them questions that lead to interesting discussions. He is kind and easy to reach outside of class for any questions. I highly recommend his class.
Very knowledgeable professor and offered great industry insight through their personal experience and through integration of guest speakers. Professor truly cares about students succeeding and give ample means of extra credit to help boost grades. It was nice to have two instructors share their wisdom and glad to have received much value .
Professor Buschman is an awesome professor. Very interesting class, not heavy on the workload. Would definitely recommend you take a class with him.
Very kind professor, overall easy class with guest speakers and few assignments and a group project.
Professor John is great. He is caring, he makes sure everyone knows the expectations and he makes emphasis the importance of participation in class. He expects everyone to go over the modules before going to class so there can be discussions based on each module. I highly recommend him.
If you're into travel, this is the class and professor to choose! SO many fascinating things learned in class. Although the class was short due to it being in Summer, still such a great class. Dr. Buschman is extremely knowledegable about the topics discussed and makes the class very interesting.
Professor Bushman was great, material in the class was very interesting even though class was long. would take it again!
I took Professor Buschman's HFT 3735 Cultures and Destinations class and it was amazing. We learned about geography and so many destinations, cultures and issues with tourism. The only thing I would do different is selecting a longer semester for this class.
Pretty friendly guy. His traveling history is very impressive and he's not shy to share stories either. Will give exact instructions for assignments in class. You're the one paying for the class so it's your job to show up and submit your assignments, he's not going to baby you. However, he is understanding if you reach out for help. Fun class!
Very knowledgeable and a lot of experience. The discussion during the classes could have more detailed material and references to the book.
Extremely knowledgeable and experienced! Brought in various guest speakers and he truly cares about his students education and growth. The class was structured and organized, as long as you complete all assignments and participate during class there is no reason why you shouldn't pass the course.
I would recommend to take Professor John's class, he is so much experience and amazing person, always ready to help, gives out study material to explain deeply about events. The most important part of the module was guest lecture, the events industry expert come and guide you. I think we should never miss out that opportunity to gain knowledge.
This professor is moderate and fair. Although the workload was a bit heavy during the mini-term he was easy to understand and clearly had a passion for the material he was teaching. The class ended up being interesting and incorporated the opinions and takes of classmates throughout the lessons.
I enjoyed taking Professor. Buschman course during the summer. Though the lectures are long it shows that he loves what he teaches especially the back-stories he gives. He is helpful inside and outside of class just keep him updated. Also, participate in the class or he will pick on you.
This class was super interesting and not very difficult. He explains the material well and even if you don't remember you can find it on Canvas. Very nice as well.
Professor Buschman did a great job at teaching about different destinations and their cultures. He would even invite guests speakers through zoom that would go more in depth. His assignments were really easy to complete. I recommend taking him.
Professor Buschman is very knowledgeable when it comes to destinations around the world. He educates based off his personal experience. I took this class for Summer B so it was fast paced but completely doable if you apply yourself. There is one midterm exam and the final is an individual paper and presentation.
Professor Buschman has great knowledge and always likes to share them with his students. He has traveled so much and you can tell just by listening to him. Awesome professor, 100% recommended.
I would really recommend to take Professor John's class. He is a really kind person and is very knowledgeable about tourism and travel. There's a guest lecture and one project. The quizzes are easy and the class is interactive.
This professor is very hands on and easy to approach and talk to. It works with students as long as you are willing to work hard, participate, and show up to class. He even was nice enough to allow me to submit one of my assignments late. Overall I learned a lot and I would absolutely take professor Buschman as my professor again in the future.
Prof. Bushman will bring this course to life, rather than lecturing himself, he provides interactive presentations and guests to come in and explain the real experience of the events world
good prof
This class was so interesting! Every week we had a guest speaker and it was so intriguing and you learned a lot about the event industry. Really fun class. You do have a final project at the end but its fairly easy!
I do find Prof. Buschman a great teacher! He lives for his students and he is fun! He is respectful, and he was always available for us. I wish I had met him on a different class, because the class itself was a big disappointment for me. I learnt nothing about event feasibility and the book we had to buy is horrible and lexical only.
This professor is great at discussing Marketing. He has a guest speaker almost weekly and even took us to a Cruise World convention. He is really passionate about this class and will help you succeed.
Best professor at fiu and you can make an easy A on this class
Professor Buschman is a great professor, I would take another class with him! Some service-learning volunteering is part of a project, but it was one of the things I most enjoyed while taking this class.
The course gets you thinking outside of the normal field of hospitality.
This is an online class that requires you to complete atleast three community service opportunites which he provides many ideas and events for! This Professor is honestly very kind and understanding, gives alot of extra credit, weekly assignments are super easy, and the csr/case study are easy, just time consuming. Def reccomend this professor.
Professor Buschman is great and sweet. He makes the class fun and I loved doing weekly challenges. I recommend him 100%.
This class overall was very easy. Professor Buschman is pretty cool. There are quizzes every week based on the material he posted for the week. Weekly challenges that need to be posted on your Facebook page. There's a lot of extra credit, a few papers, and a few assignments Also, we have to do community hours. Easy A.
Professor Buschman is such an incredible professor. This was the second class I took with him, and I could not recommend him more. This class is so engaging & the volunteer assignments were very rewarding. Would definitely recommend this course and this professor for anyone looking for a hospitality elective!
This class was amazing!!! Not only do you learn about the world but in the end, you learn about yourself and how to be a better person. I definitely recommend taking this class, if I could take this class again, I would.
This course had to be one of my best classes this semester! Professor Buschman is filled with so much knowledge; I appreciate that he chose to be an educator to the future generation. His quizzes are based upon the guest speakers; pay attention; a few discussions and assignments but nothing major. A great class; do the work, and you get an A.
3 volunteering sessions and a long paper (mine was 9 pages single spaced) but you can tell he really cares about his students! he's very nice! take him!!
Professor Buschman has been one of my top favorite professors as he really cares for his students, and teaches in a way that is fun. His teaching goes beyond efforts, and is organized. I took an online class and was still able to be engaged in person with the three service learnings that are part of the class.
It was such a pleasure to be able to take HFT3073 with Professor Buschman! I highly recommend this course to anyone considering it. This is an online course that has weekly challenges on Facebook, one quiz a week, a few short papers, and is heavy on service learning and volunteering which was so fun to be a part of! Take this class now!
Great professor! He bought several awesome guest speakers and provided us opportunities to attend several useful and professional events that are also very valuable which you can also make some connections through that. He responses to email very quickly and is very caring.
Being able to take HFT3073 with Professor Buschman was such a delight! Anyone considering taking this course has my highest recommendation. The weekly Facebook challenges, quizzes, short papers, and emphasis on service learning and volunteering in this online course were all a lot of fun to be a part of. the course right away!
Very dedicated to motivating students to go out into the world and help others.
Professor Buschman's class is amazing. Take him you won't regret it!
Professor Buschman really understands the material that he is presenting. I love how he doesn't stick to the traditional pen and paper learning. He is versatile and does presentations, have guest speakers, combine classes and so much more. 10/10
Take him 100%
Professor Buschman is one of the best at FIU, take him 100%
An awsome professor and very easy going on grading. Highly recommended!
This is my second time taking Professor Bushcman and I will be taking him again in Spring 2023. You can see that he is very passionate about his lectures and wants all his students to take advantage of every opportunity.
Dr. Buschman is great, kind, and the course was very smooth with him. Syllabus and Modules explained everything well. Weekly Challenges, Quizzes, Service Learning, Papers Required. He offers a free textbook. A good amount of work to be done but it's flexible!
Great professor! I was a bit skeptical about this class because we need to do volunteering activities on our own time. It ended up being easy, especially with his help by sharing opportunities with us. These activities were a great experience. The coursework was very simple and all that we needed to study with were provided in the modules.
I enjoyed the class and the group projects that the professor provided, they were always different and fun! I would honestly recommend him to anyone that is looking to learn in depth about tourism.
Professor Buschman is an amazing teacher who has truly inspired me. He gives so much to the community and dedicates his time to his students. This class is a lot but it changes the aspect of your role in your community. I would definitely take this class again!
John Buschman was a great teacher and ill definitely consider retaking his course again.
I highly recommend you take this class with Professor Buschman. He really cared about his students and was always willing to answer questions. Not a lot of assignments or discussion posts but participation is very important for this class.
Dr. Buschman is my favorite professor at FIU. He teaches classes about sustainability in hospitality and tourism, and you can tell he really cares about the subject and his passionate about his job. His assignments were easy and he gave clear directions. He also held volunteer opportunities as a part of the grade for the class so be volunteer!
Professor Buschman was an amazing professor. The class is very informative and pretty easy. He'll make you do 3 volunteer session that are mandatory. There is a quiz due every week and weekly challenges that pretty easy to do. Buschman is a great professor. No midterm. No Final. Lots of Extra Credits! Highly recommend.
great professor, make sure to know you have to do the work this isn't a class you can google everything
Professor Buschman is an amazing professor. He is truly passionate about sustainability in the hospitality industry. His lectures are long but very interesting and motivational. You will do 3 volunteer sessions outside the classroom throughout the semester but they are very fun and interesting.
Good people and teacher. Very dedicated to helping others and making the world a better place.
Professor Buschman is an amazing person as he is an wonderful professor. He is super kind and passionate about what he does. He inspires you to do better within the community and think about how our actions affect others and the world around us. His class is very straightforward if you make an effort to do your assignments well, you will pass.
The class has a lot of homework that opens after class. Really inspirational course because it has many activities outside of the classroom. And it isn't a class that can find the answer on google
The class has a lot of homework that opens after class. Inspirational course because it has 3 volunteer sessions outside of the classroom that is related to the course. And it isn't a class that can find the answer on google so pay attention in the class.
Professor Buschman is amazing! His class is very straightforward and he is interesting. There are 3 required volunteer sessions but he lets you know at the first day of class so you can be fully aware and prepared, but the volunteer sessions are really rewarding and usually during class time. There are weekly challenges and quizzes. Free textbook!!
Volunteer sessions are required for this class and they are during class time. Bushman is a great professor and understanding. Loved taking this class and would take this professor again.
Buschman is one of the most genuine people I've ever been taught by. He clearly cares about people and humanity at large, and it shows when he speaks about sustainability and the work he's done in the past. He provided a link to the textbook so that we didnt have to pay, and there weren't any big tests, just some assignments and 2 papers.
Professor Buschman is someone I've had twice, and I've never regretted it! His classes are always very interesting and his sense of humor is great - he really tries to help you out if you're having trouble. Highly recommended!
Weekly challenges and quizzes. Mandatory volunteer activities, but they are actually fun/inspiring. Two small paper throughout the semester, not hard really. No final, a big paper worth 20% of your grade, but he gives you a template and a lot of time to work on it.
He was an amazing professor, his class was not hard and we always get to go to a field trip to help some non profit organization.
Really motivating class! You can tell that Dr. Buschman is very passionate about social responsibility and has plenty of real-world experience to share about the subject during lectures. The lectures are a bit long and there are out-of-class-time service learning requirements as well, but they positively contribute to what you learn in the class.
I have taken three classes with Professor Buschman, and I wish I could've take a fourth! He is one of the best Professors at the university; he cares about the success of his students and does all he can to help them get a good grade. This class opened my eyes to community service. Take this class; you won't regret it!
Dr. Buschman is the best professor that you can take. In the class you have to do two main papers and he opens the assignments after class. Every week there is a weekly challenge which is fun. The class is 2.40 hrs but you do not even feel that is that long. He LOVES what he does!
A lot of paper, but he is amazing because he created many events, create a chance for student to go to volunteer and experience many things.
You've learned about environmental protection and community support. There're several volunteer activities that you can join and they're great experiences. I love this class because my behavior gradually shifts positively. There's a lot of homework to do, but it's not difficult at all.
Professor Buschman truly loves what he does. There are three mandatory volunteer opportunities that need to be done by the end of the semester but he gives so many opportunities to complete them. There are some papers due, but nothing out of your capacity. You'll enjoy his teaching, he is so passionate and easy going.
Dr. Buschman is very inspirational and passionate about social responsibility and helping the world. We had to attend 3 volunteer activities as well as given extra credit if we did more. Everything you learn you can apply to your day to day life. All together such an amazing class to do!
One of the best Professors
Amazing professor and super interesting lectures and topics.
One of the best professor i had taken at FIU, he offers great lectures. Homework is easy to manage.
Professor Buschman is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students and has a lot of expertise when it comes to hospitality and sustainability. He gives great and informative lectures and would definitely recommend taking this course with him as your professor. Excellent class!
Dr. Buschman is THE best professor. He has an excellent background and is extremely passionate. He is compassionate and available to students in and out of class. He brings in guests and takes us on volunteer opportunities to help really connect to the issues we learn about. There's 2 main essays, 3 community service events, and weekly challenges
One of the best professors at FIU. Classes and assignments are very engaging and eye-opening. I understood the values of a lot of stuff by taking this class. It was a great experience
Professor Buschman is one of the best professors I've ever taken. He's super caring for all his students and genuinely has a passion for what he teaches. He makes his lectures interactive and includes videos and images to keep the lessons interesting. If you have the opportunity to take any of his classes I highly reccomend you do!
Buschman is an amazing professor! Super understanding and very funny! We love him
Don't think bout it twice. You will not regret taking Professor Buschman.
I recommend this class to anyone! He's super sweet and the class is genuinely interesting.
I love this professor, you should take the class, it really helps you to know more about other countries. He's so nice and his TA so kind, she always help you as much as possible
Professor Buschman's class was a great experience. We did a project where we collaborated with students from Italy, which I had never done before and it was pretty cool. I would definitely take his class again.
This might be the best professor you will find for Tourism Destination Marketing, he is very flexible and will accommodate if something is needed. Highly recommend!
The professor gave a lot of useful advice and feedback, and the lectures were very interesting. Also, during this class, we worked with students from an Italian university on our project.
Highly recommend the prof and TA
He always gives opportunities for extra credit, as long as you do your homework on time you have nothing to worry about.
Professor Buschaman gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Though he's not very tech-savvy, there's been a couple of mistakes in the grade book. He's a fun professor, and his TA is nice and will help you as much as possible.
Dr. Buschman was one of the best professor i've had at FIU! I am graduating this semester and I saved my easier classes for my last semester and I am so thankful I was able to have Buschman as a professor for this class. You can tell he truly cares about his students and takes time in making clear and simple assignments.
Overall good professor but don't miss any assignments because he will not regrade. Every week you do a weekly challenge which is super easy and just overall a pretty easy class.
This professor was great, but the work load is a good amount be ready to do community service hours outside of class and write lot's of papers. If you do all the assignments you should receive an A or above
Prof Buschman is well versed and knowledgeable in his expertise and is great at making the course content easily understandable. I am in 2 of his classes this semester. The course load is average. He values quality work and likes participation. Great Prof! I would definitely take another class with him again.
Pretty laid back, just keep up with the content being taught and don't be afraid to ask questions.
This professor was very clear and easy to understand would recommend and take again!
Love professor B! He is great, I had him for two classes and enjoyed them both. His classes are easy as long as you keep up!
He's a great professor overall, his class was very entertaining and he provided great feedback. I learned a lot of important things and it was not a long class so it's easy to listen and understand, also his TA Sophia was very good! I would take this class again or another subject with him.
Great class! Average workload, the assignment and service learning were interesting and fun. Definitely recommend taking him!
Great professor would recommend!
After finishing the class, I am glad I took it. Yes there was a good amount of work. But nothing crazy, work that kept us engaged with ourselves and the class. Thank you Professor!
Good professor. The workload can pile up, so stay on top of it, but overall the course material is very fair and easy to understand with the help of the course modules.
This was a really great class and the professor was amazing.
Responsible class with an understanding professor. A reasonable amount of work was assigned weekly with two papers and community service.
Professor is very knowledgable in his field. I loved hearing his personal experiences of where he's traveled to. Always open to answer questions and have discussion.
Dr. Buschman is one of the kindest professors I've ever come across. You can tell he really cares about educating me making an impact in his students lives. There is some service learning that has to be done(volunteering) but you have options to find some yourself or do the ones the professors provides. Overall great professors.

Professor John Buschman class was great. It makes you love and care about the world as he does. Weekly challenges, quizzes, 3 volunteer, and final project.
This class required a lot of work outside of the online class room, volunteering through service learning. I learned way more than expected and had fun with the weekly challenges we were given! The TA is very helpful.
Not a heavy class to take, grading guidelines and what is needed for a good grade in the class are clear and easy to follow. Class uses Facebook for some of the assignments and there are a number of assignments that involve volunteering in your local area.
Professor Buschman is a fairly easy teacher, provides enough/detailed instructions to get assignments done. At most you'll have 3 or 4 assignments due in one week but the class is easy, assignments are interesting and as long as you put in a fair amount of effort, you will receive an A.
Professor is a fantastic professor! I thoroughly enjoyed this class. He was extremely flexible, patient, understanding, and helpful. The work is typically not hard. The service learning projects were fun and very eye opening. This class truly makes you empathetic to what's happening in the world! Thank you professor!
I would take his class again
Very easy class as long as you do your work. He's very understanding when it comes to late work as long as you talk to him. Would 10/10 recommend it to any interested in taking this course.
Professor Buschman was great! I feel like I learned a lot from taking his class and I enjoyed hearing his insight about different travel destinations. The assignments were fairly easy and mostly consisted of discussions. The TA was very friendly and helpful, too! Overall, if you just pay attention and do the work, you can easily pass the class.
He is a excellent and well known professor.
Professor Buschman was an amazing, he truly shows you the ins and outs of sustainability in the hospitality industry. He does require three volunteer submissions but they are super fun especially when I volunteered for the South Beach wine and food festival. I would highly recommend taking this course.
The Professor was a great teacher who was super informative and engaging with his students. We learned about sustainability in the hospitality industry and had three volunteer assignments. They were fun, one of them was to volunteer at the SOBEWFF. Overall a great professor and super fun to be around. I would highly recommend taking is class
Professor Buschman was a great teacher who was super helpful and interactive with his students. We learned about sustainability in the hospitality industry and had three volunteer assignments. Overall, a fantastic instructor who is a lot of fun to be around. I would strongly advise enrolling in this course.
Very Interesting class with a very interesting professor. You should be ready to volunteer.
Professor Buschman is one of the best professors you are going to meet while you are studying hospitality, His school work is not very hard, he doesn't have a final exam and he is very understanding and he requires you to do volunteering as apart of your grade but it is the best experience ever.
The professor gives easy assignments to do, and the volunteer sessions are a fun aspect of the course. I would say the only negative thing about his course is the COIL project. At least for my class it was disorganized and it was unintentionally stressful. Asides from the COIL project I'd highly recommend taking the course.
This professor is great. He has a a lot of passion for teaching and is an amazing teacher. He has very much a lot of patience for teaching and he loves his students. Just because he looks old doesn't mean he teachings old.
I would highly recommend taking this professor. We had service learning days and were able to make an actual impact in our communities with these assignments. I believe everyone should take this class as it is important for the entire hospitality industry as a whole to understand social responsibility and what we can do to be more sustainable.
This professor places a strong emphasis on practical activities.
Prof Buschman is a great professor! He is super passionate about what he teaches which is awesome. The class is very inspirational and we volunteer at a lot of amazing places and learn a lot of valuable things. The only reason I did 4/5 was because the class was very lecture heavy and it was hard for me to pay attention to just talking for 3 hours.
Professor John Buschman was an amazing professor. His lectures are a bit long but other than that his way of teaching is good. i would taker another of his classes again.
He is a very good person and professor. As a student, I can feel that he takes the content of this course seriously. The passion for pursuing sustainable development is something every hotelier should learn from.
Overall, I think that Professor Buschman was an informative and easy teacher. The class has a service learning requirement which I think made it all the more fun. Volunteering and having the opportunity to work with others with the same goal is something I probably would not have gone to do myself.
Dr. Buschman actually cares for his course + class and does a great job with his lectures and explaining everything is needed when it comes to assignments, projects, etc. Be prepared to put in effort into this class when it comes to the service volunteering projects and group projects, but other than those everything is easy to understand.
Professor Buschman is one of the best Hospitality Professors at FIU. He truly cares for his students and has a passion for making the world more sustainable. The best part of this class is the out of class service learning opportunities. I definitely would take this class again and take another class with Professor Buschman!
In Professor John Buschman's Social Responsibility class, we tackled vital hospitality industry issues like hunger, homelessness, and human trafficking. His passion inspired action, with a workload of three community volunteer sessions. Highly recommended for addressing pressing social concerns.
Prof Buschman is super understanding when it comes to assignments as long as you reach out to him. He gives you plenty of opportunities for extra credit as well as opportunities outside of class to network with others in the industry. He's very passionate about what he teaches so I recommend taking this class with him.
I've had Dr. Buschman for 2 courses already and he's been one of my favorite professors at the university. This course taught me important lessons by completing the social service we did for the community. I enjoyed both courses and I'm thankful for the memories and lessons learned.
Professor Buschman is great. Weekly homework is easy, but you'll have 3 big assignments for the whole semester: COIL group project, social responsibility paper, and service-learning paper. I enjoyed this class, Buschman is a nice and understanding teacher. Would take him again.
Very nice, he will help you with anything you need help with and he is going to explain something if you don't understand.
He's an amazing and really personable professor with a lot to say and teach! I definitely recommend connecting with him as he's connected to an incredible network (especially if you're interested in sustainability and hospitality). I would for sure take another one of his classes!
Professor Buschman, was an amazing professor. He makes class lectures interesting by bringing up different topics that have to do with our lectures and ties it all together. He cares about the students and does cool opportunities for us students who want to learn more and experience hospitality. His class is easy not much work.
He was a good professor and his class was very interesting
Very nice professor but attendance is mandatory and all he does in class is go over a powerpoint so class can be boring
Amazing Professor! He is very caring and understanding with his students. Buschman replies quickly to emails and is very knowledgeable. I learned a lot in his class. His class consists of a midterm, a final, and a group project. The final has a chunk of the questions from the midterm. If you show up to class and participate, you will pass.
Super amazing teacher
His class is super easy. The quizzes mostly come from the notes written on the whiteboard, so make sure you jot them down. The rest of his classes will be more like conversations about places he has traveled to. There is also one group project that counts as the final.
Dr. Buschman is one of the best professors you can take in FIU. It was my first time taking him and he is really respectful to his students. You will have assignments weekly due, but they are not difficult. He is very understanding and cooperative. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities if you miss Quizzes. Trust me you will not be dissapointed.
Professor Buschman is awesome - his class is engaging and you'll learn a lot, especially about industry issues like sustainability and social responsibility. The workload is manageable, and unstuckstudy AI can be a great study tool.
I was a student for Dr. Buschman's online class. You can tell he is very passionate about his subject matter and that is displayed in the lecture, assignments, and workload. It opened my eyes to a lot of things I was not aware of!
It was such a great class with valuable lessons.
Good Proffessor very simple online course
Was very simpli online course with a lot of important informations
Dr. Buschman is a great professor who truly understands what he is teaching and gives students many opportunities to succeed. He is a little slow when it comes to grading, but nothing too serious. He organized class well and provided a lot of material for us to read (but not have to buy!) that directly related to what we were learning.
He's really good professor, he's so caring to students. I took 3 classes of him, perfecto
One of the best professors I've ever had, professor Buschman always caring with patients, the course is not very difficult, learning step by step gonna received a good grade.
Easy work, just make sure to do projects on time. Quizzes seemed tricky for some questions. Free textbook too! Weekly challenges are fun. Overall nice person, some instructions are unclear though for homework and things.
The class overall is great if in need for the additional hospitality elective. This is a class that you will need to find time to volunteer since it is part of your overall grade. Assignments are unique and can be a tad bit silly but it adds on to the character of the class. No final just a paper.
He's super cool and the assignments are really easy.
Very good professor
Professor is amazing, so many assignment to pass course. I really appreciate this class and made it very easy for my last semester. Truly grateful and I took this fully online.
Overall, this class opened my eyes to a lot of issues I didn't know were faced in the hospitality industry. Professor Buschman was super understanding when I had to email him. I absolutely recommend this class.
He is very knowledgeable about the topics he teaches and gathered a bunch of relevant articles and PDFs instead of requiring a textbook. All of the assignments related to what we were learning, and the weekly challenges were fun!
Dr. Buschman is a really cool professor and is always there to help! Furthermore, his class is really fun and inspiring!
Dr. John D. Buschman is an outstanding educator who makes topics like sustainability and corporate social responsibility engaging and practical through real-world examples and hands-on activities. His approach fosters critical thinking, global awareness, and practical skills that prepare students for success in their hospitality careers.
Great professor, cares about the impact his class has more than grades and gpa. The point is to go out and volunteer and also the weekly challenges which could count as your good karma for the week.
Dr. Buschman is incredibly knowledgable about the tourism industry, specifically regarding sustainability. He is very easy to talk to and responds to emails quickly. It was a pleasure to be in his class. He is very fair when grading and open to working with students if issues arise. I would take a class with him again.
He is really great and has always an Open ear for his students! Furthermore his lectures were really inspiring and I would love to have him as a professor again!

Each class was engaging and filled with fascinating information, making the learning experience enjoyable and enlightening. Dr. Buschman is a fantastic professor who is dedicated to the success of his students. His lectures and materials are detailed and helpful, but his greatest strength comes from his hospitality as a professor (go figure!). He is very understanding and patient and is quite easy to contact outside of class, and has valuable experience in the industry.
Dr. Buschman is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students. He provides excellent explanations, making his classes both engaging and enjoyable. Throughout the semester, he created many fun and memorable experiences for us, and I'm really looking forward to taking his class again next semester.
Professor Buschman makes each topic easy to understand. All the PowerPoint presentations he goes over with assignments are fun, and you will gain more concepts within hospitality, destinations, and tourism.
Teacher was great, enjoyed the semester. We were implored to give back, time well spent.
Great professor! Explains concepts clearly, makes the material engaging, and is always willing to help. Highly recommend!
This class felt like a great departure from other classes also taken for credit. The material is interesting and the professor is honestly amazing.

Professor John Bushman is an exceptional educator whose extensive knowledge of tourism and passionate storytelling bring the world of hospitality to life for his students.
Took this class as an elective for Business degree and was pleasantly surprised. He interacts with the students asking questions and getting class participation. Not a hard class at all midterm and final with minimal assignments due. If you want a fun and easy class highly recommend taking him and this course.
Professor Buschman is great. His class is engaging and generally easy to follow. As long as you attend regularly and stay on top of the homework, you will do well. One thing to note is that the class sessions are quite long (2h45 minutes) which can feel a bit excessive at times. However, he does his best to keep things interesting.
Professor Buschman is one of the best professors I have ever had! He is passionate about what he teaches, and you can tell. His lectures are interesting and overall, he cares about his students. I definitely recommend taking his class!
Professor Buschman is one of the best professors I have ever had! His tourism destination marketing class is very interesting and the way he teaches it has you interested in wanting to learn more about it. 10/10 recommend this class!
Professor Buschman really cares about his students and is always available to talk. His classes are quite long, but very interactive, with many activities related to volunteering outside of school. It's an experience that goes beyond the classroom. Although he assigns some work , the material is always interesting and engaging.
Professor Buschman is one of the best professors at FIU. I've learned so much from his class and you can also have a chance to participate in 3 learning service projects that'll help you build your resume. His lecture is long but you will learn so many useful things in his class. He care about students and gives extra credits when you need it.
Professor John Buschman is an excellent instructor—always patient, clear, and supportive. His sense of humor makes every class both engaging and enjoyable.
Great professor! brings in guests speakers and got to go on a field trip. work load is very manageable. take the class!
It was a real pleasure to have Mr. Buschman for a semester. He's truly inspiring and highly proactive. His stories and experiences are always engaging and motivating. Be prepared for weekly assignments, two major projects, and some volunteering activities—but it's all worth it for the valuable insights and energy he brings to the class!
He explains tourism destination marketing very will. He's a fun teacher, answers every question you need answered. And the group projects are interesting to dive into.
A very good teacher!!! But be prepared that you should be involved in this class and you should be interested. You also have to do 3 mandatory volunteering, but the teacher and his TA will give you options where you can do it. It's a very interesting and exciting class, and the teacher knows what he's doing!
Prof Bushman is very caring and passionate about his work!! You can tell he loves what he does and loves involving students in class and getting our feedback.

He genuinely care about his students and always creates things for you to feel comfortable and to participate in his class. I will definitely takes more class with him by any chances!!!!
Dr. Bushman is such a nice man and is always excited to teach. The coursework is not intensive and while there are three service learning opportunities required for the class, he offers many of them to make it easy. He isn't tough because he is just trying to teach the things that matter to him, which is sustainability in the hospitality industry.
Outstanding teaching
He was very interactive, making me enjoy his class more then others.
Best Professor, very interesting lectures, it's fun, you will gain much knowledge without being able to realize that u have gained. Never pressures students, instead teaches by examples and real life experiences. TAKE HIM YOU WILL NOT REGRET.
If you want to learn and get a good grade this is the your professor
His class is very easy, you don't have much homework, but he does focus on the final group project. His lectures are really long but very good, and it's good if you interact, he is also funny, so it goes by fast.
He's one of the best professors I've had passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced. His class is engaging and easy to follow, with online exams and clear assignments. I truly enjoyed learning from him and feel lucky to have had such a great experience.
Professor Buschman is a great instructor with a very engaging teaching style. He encourages participation in class, making the learning experience much more interactive and enjoyable. He often shares insights from his professional experience in the hospitality industry, which makes the material feel more real and relevant.

Also brings guests from the industry which we learn a lot from and it's great for connections! Not many assignments and offers a bunch of extra credit! Easy class, ended with an A :) Take him!
Overall, a very passionate professor who is highly knowledgeable about tourism. However, when the class lasts nearly three hours, he does not provide breaks. The course content feels somewhat outdated, as he teaches using PowerPoint presentations that are often dull. As a result, the class tends to be boring most of the time.
Pretty decent Professor
Dr Buschman is an amazing professor. I was lucky to have him twice this semester. He is so very caring and passionate about his job and loves teaching. As far as workload, its pretty slight, just be prepared for long lectures
Dr Buschman is a great and caring professor. I would certainly take classes with him again. He cares a lot about his students
You just need to attend the class.
Would easily take him again. Without a doubt one of the EASIEST professors I have ever had in my college career. His class is extremely fun and interesting to learn about. He is not a tough professor, very easy going, but I will say this, he does assign a lot of homework but they are all fairly easy. As long as you come to class you are fine.
He clearly he loves what he does, its why he's so knowledgeable. He cares that you understand what he's teaching, he wants you engaged, and he takes your feedback. The good ratings are well deserved!
The professor cares about the students, he also provides opportunities for extra credit and introduces great people for networking. He is passionate about what he teaches and it is a easy class, just show up and pay attention. The work is not anything crazy and if you need help, you can always ask him.
Overall, a great experience to be honest. I felt very comfortable in class; he created a learning environment that was very pleasing. He also gave us multiple hacks to find flights, and hotels with discounts. I had a great time in this class. Recommended.
I'm a business major, and I took this class as an elective. The class was fun, and I learned a lot. The professor and TA are really nice, and assignments mostly focus on reflection rather than hard research. The class time is long, but it's only once a week. I encourage everyone to participate since it's a friendly environment. Highly recommend!
Great Professor, very engaging and workload is super manageable.
I took social responsibility and I enjoyed every class/assignment. We were required to do 3 volunteer/service learning sessions for credit. I would definitely take his class again!
Amazing professor, teaches the information very well and has clean passion over what he touches. He really inspires you to do well in the community and teaches all concepts well. It was a pleasure, thank you!
ONE OF MY BEST PROFESSORS THIS SEMESTER.
He is very passionate about teaching, and he tries to get everyone involved in class discussions. His class is very easy as long as you show up and pay attention to the assignments. This is my second time taking a class of his, and I would definitely take another class again.
I took Social Responsibility with him online in Fall 2023. I forgot if the class is mandatory for hospitality students, but if it isn't, I would highly recommend not taking it. You'll have to participate in 3 volunteering events during the semester and write a reflection paper about them at the end. Doing wayyy too much for an online class IMO.
Awesome professor! Course material is interesting and fun to learn. The professor communicates well with students and is easy to reach. Definitely take this class!!
Prof Buschman is amazing! You can tell he loves what he does and cares about his students. You do have to purchase a $99 American Society of Travel Advisors that is not including in book pack, though. Class is really interesting and engaging and def recommend if you need an elective
Professor Buschman is very nice and entertaining. He brings in guest speakers. He assigns discussions and some short papers that are not hard. Professor Buschman talks about a variety of interesting topics and engages with the students. Definitely would take him again!
He is a very good professor and the class was great. I would take this class again with this professor.
Professor Buschman teaches clearly and makes the material easy to understand. The online modules were well organized, and he connected concepts to real tourism examples. His explanations were simple, engaging, and professional. I enjoyed the class and would definitely take him again.
Great professor. Class was easy and the workload was very manageable.I would definitely retake this course.
He is a great professor, very knowledgeable. Make sure you don't miss his class. Just show up and read the material and you will pass.
Amazing professor with lots of experience to learn from!! Attendance is graded
Relies heavily on TA. Has a lot on his plate, so is distracted from course, grading and sometimes responding to messages. Classwork is easy if uploaded, but course changes a lot. And has a ton of information, but no study guides for quizzes/test. Interesting course topic and fun and interesting assignments. Overall grade disabled whole semester.
Dr. Buschman is a great professor. His passion for his work and for hospitality is exceptional. He truly cares about his students and always does his best in his lectures, as well as in activities such as field trips and class participation. I would definitely take his class again.
