He was by far the best English professor i have ever had. I hate writing and shakespeare but he made it fun and pretty interesting. He is really good on not taking off points for stupid stuff. Take him!

This guy is awesome, had him for an online classes and he was great, gives you everything you need to pass, you just have to read. His quizzes and final are easy if you have basic knowledge of the stories you read. His papers aren't bad, he usually goes easy on you if you try and tells you everything you can improve on for next time. He is the only teacher I'd recommend, my only regret is not taking his class on campus.

Dr. Carpenter is awesome. He's a really cool guy, but you do have to work for your grades. The tests are easy if you read the stories, or even a summary, and the papers aren't too bad either. Just do what he tells you and you'll pass. :)

Very entertaining in class and makes sure that you get the point before going out and writing your papers. Also practically gives answers to quizzes in class if you pay attention. Very passionate about his students and their success.

Colorful professor; keeps class interesting and fun, and that's tough when your talking Shakespeare! Don't try "skimming" your way through the writing assignments; you need to put in time and effort if you want a good grade.

Dr. Carpenter is an excellent teacher, I looked forward to going to his classes! He is also an excellent singer and guitar player! I struggled at first with some of his papers, but if you follow his syllabus, you won't have a problem getting an A in his class.

Dr. Carpenter cares about his student's learning. If you pay attention in class and follow his instructions for the essays, you'll pass! 5 essays, min of 600 words(not bad). Taking him again for 1107. He is a very nice man and a great professor!

I took Dr. Carpenter online for ENC 1102. He is amazing. Returns calls, and emails, and will even look over your draft for you. You do have to read the poems and plays but his quizzes zre pretty easy. I received an A

ENC 1107 is a new class that replaces 1102. 1107 is more about philosers that made an impact in our society.Short stories but some are hard readings. 4 essays based on the book. He LOVES his job and students (if you respect the class). If you show disrespect he will call you out! If you pay attention, you will get a good grade!1 of the BEST TEACHER

Took him for summer I, English I a few years back. Great teacher. Gives clear assignment objectives with still letting the students retain individuality.

I had the online version. This class was pretty simple. I had to turn in 5 essays, 5 quizzes, a research paper, and a final exam. The final exam was a take-home. The essays were easy 500 word papers. The quizzes were really just 2 paragraphs about our interpretation of the reading. I mean, come one. A take-home final exam?

Assigned 5 essays, 5 quizzes, a research paper, and a final exam. The research paper was the most difficult because he is changeling you. He is a wonderful teacher who cares more about the learning then the grade. If you show interest, he will go out of his way to help you. His class would prob be easy if you don't need it.

Online class: Great professor!! Answered every question I asked quickly, very helpful! I dreaded taking this class; however, he is very forthcoming with his expectations. If you follow the syllabus and do the work it's hard not to get an A because he tells you exactly what he wants.

Did not think I would survive, it was A LOT in short period because I took SUM I session but he tells you to the letter what he expects. The research paper was difficult and the worst grade I received but collected myself and pulled an A in the class. He was always quick to get back by phone or email. He is a GREAT professor.

Before taking his class I would get English anxiety. He tells you exactly what he expects in his syllabus and makes every effort to make sure you are learning. I highly recommend him. He's my favorite teacher.

Dr. Carpenter is really cool and his class is not that hard. All you have to do is show up and do the essays. He grades sort of hard but the tests are easy if you pay attention. The final exam was the second test we took, and he told us to study the old tests so it was easy. He played guitar for us a couple times. He is an amazing teacher.

I was interested in the class and heard he was a good professor. That was an understatement. He presented the material in a way that engaged all the students which isn't easy with Chaucer or Beowulf. Above that, Dr. Carpenter is extremely personable, relatable, and compassionate. His class changed my perspective on literature and on LIFE.

Dr. Carpenter is one of my favorite teachers. He is one cool dude, and you can tell he loves his job since he drives from COCOA BEACH just to teach. If you put effort towards his class, then you will have no problems. I have taken him for ENC1101, ENC1107, and ENL2330 and highly recommend him!

Dr. Carpenter is the coolest professor I have ever had. He's such a nice guy and he's always willing to step up and guide you through the essays that he assigns. He will even give you extra credit for going into the ASC lab and correcting your essays with one of the tutors. He's such a nice man and he keeps everyone very engaged!

I took John Carpenter twice... Best decision I ever made! He is really funny and he knows what he's doing. You do have to read, but the story he assigns are very interesting. If you need help with your essay, he will proudly take his time to help anyone.

Great teacher who prides himself on "giving his students the tools to get an A." He's a bit too lenient on late assignments, but, I suppose, for some students that would be a plus. Don't buy the textbooks though (at least not for Summer semesters) because you won't even open them. I would definitely recommend him to any student.

Took him for Shakespeare, was hesitant at first though it would be boring but wow!! He makes it fun, he is so passionate about these plays he makes you enjoy the class. Fun, energetic, expects you to work, do all his assignments and you will do well!! Would take again if I needed another credit.

Carpenter is pretty good! His personality is great and will always make you laugh! You do have to work for your grade, but if you need help, he is there! The man was very funny and was always there for you. He really wanted you to pass. He accepts late assignments. Unfortunately, due dates a things about assignments he would change in class, so you were screwed if you weren't there. He one time added a bibliography to paper that didn't need it in the syllabus. But, as long as you showed up, easy A.

I took Dr. Carpenter for ENC 1101. Your grade consists of essays, grammar tests, and attendance only. The class is boring, but he is very outgoing so it makes the class better. He thoroughly explains what he expects and even offers extra credit on essays. He cares about your success in the class and is very easy to work with if you have an issue.

All in all, a very fun professor who is very competent and helpful. He explains concepts and assignments succinctly, responds quickly to questions, and is greatly personable.

As of last semester, I've taken all four of Dr. Carpenter's classes. He's a monkey with a great sense of humor, and he really appreciates hard work. The best part is that 100s on your papers are not impossible, and even then, he gives good, honest feedback. I was already a good writer when I first took his class, but he's really helped me improve.

John Carpenter is a real character! He plays in a band called Soul Jam and he often brings his guitar to class. There was an asian lady in my class who wasn't TOO fluent at English but here she is now writing incredible essays. It's easy; he helps those who need it, and provides extra credit for those who want it. Take his class!

Such a great professor! He made this class really interesting as well as a lot of fun, and was very considerate about deadlines and grades. There were 4 papers on the reading and a research paper, plus a quiz every meet and a final exam. Not nearly as hard as it seems, as he kept things well within what you'd know if you did the reading.

Dr Carpenter, will leave a great imprint on your soul. He is an amazing professor, he absolutely loves what he does. He gives all the tools for you to get an A if you desire. He is very inspirational and his stories can help you with your own life difficulties and give you motivation. He is funny and is a musician. You will laugh in his class from his jokes. I took Dr. Carpenter in a Summer class during COVID and he was so enthusiastic about what he was teaching, it made the experience really enjoyable. We did mainly Shakespeare and weekly papers but during class we had a great time. Just participate, read, and write. Super simple, hes the best! Hybrid Funny, personable, excited about his subject. Gives you an extra 10 points on an essay if you bring it to the ASC labs after grading. Essays are really the only thing that counts in his class.

Makes tons of references to old rock bands, talks extensively about his own college and life experiences to make the class seem less polarizing and alone. All around great guy and amazing teacher. Very easy-going teacher. Some teachers get criticism for being too easy, because you won't learn as a result, but I learned a lot of grammatical rules and tips, and I never forgot any of them. This is the prof you need to take if you want to learn and have fun at the same time. Very easy class if you do all the assignments which will only take about 10 min to finish and complete. You can also get extra credit for the essay you didn't do great on which really helped me learn on what mistakes I made in my essay. Love his class.

Take this man at all costs. Ask questions. Sit in the front. If you go to the tutoring center after he grades your paper, he'll give you an extra 10 points

I absolutely loved Dr.Carpenter's class! There are 4 essays and as long as you pay attention in class and study his how-to document, you will pass with flying colors. He also gives extra credit for 3 out of the 4 essays, which can easily get your grade up by a whole letter grade. He is easily available if you have any questions.

Professor Carpenter is a truly engaging instructor who makes the class fun and interactive. While the workload can be heavy, his clear guidance and useful feedback help you succeed. I found Unstuck ai to be a great supplementary tool alongside the course materials.

I would highly recommend taking Dr. Carpenters classes. He is very engaged, seeks active participation, very lenient with grades and understanding if you are in need of help. You'd have to try pretty hard to not get a good grade in his class.

This is my second time taking Dr. Carpenter, but I did take a summer class this time. He condenses everything to fit the summer schedule without making it too overwhelming for students. His feedback for essays is super helpful, and he offers extra credit for 3 out of the 4 essays. I would totally take his class again!
